screens only show next UI's features, they are not taken from next LG's flagship.

God their ui is a mess.

guys look this
https://www.twitter.com/xach24/status/696000162381041664?p=v

so.. as expected all UI changes mentioned earlier are there on G5
.

Design is very subtle, really pretty. I like it very much

The design of the UI is something like Samsung Android 6.0 Touchwiz with white accents.
Now without the app drawer (I like it because my home screen is always empty so the home screen is useless for me and settings app looks more cleaner but they bloated with a tons of features that you use it for first time and then not use it at all.
Some people will use these features daily but the average Joe will just use the phone like any other phone. OEM needs some work to advertise these new features when you buy a new phone and the most common thing is to have it enabled by default like the active display otherwise no average user will ding down in settings to see what features does this phone has. Some will some not.

I dislike the lack of an app drawer.

I've been seeing mentions of Dual Window being removed. Not cool.

I really like where they're going with the g5. Kinda tired of getting a flagship that just has a processor updates, some hardware updates, and maybe a few gadget apps. This modular thing could really come in handy. Seems like the options could be endless to what module they or third party can make. And wireless charging, I'm sure LG or a third party come up with something. I'll bite!

I think the only reason would be that there weren't many apps that could be used with this dual windows mode. And some rumors said that the Android N will bring us dual windows mode so it would be better and more useful (for many other apps).

Use the front-facing camera much?
So I'm in the USA, and I see a Galaxy S-like device called the captivate coming to AT&T...
I see the AT&T version has no flash and no front-facing camera. Does anyone use the front-facing camera much? If so, what for? Self pics/mirror or actual video conversations?
Any other differences between the Galaxy S (as on Samsung's web-site) and the Captivate?
Thanks,
Manos
Depends on your situation whether you'll be using the front-facing camera for video chats or whatnot. I personally wouldn't use the front camera for much since not many people I know have front facing cameras, too and I don't really care for it.
The only difference we can see so far is a different phone design, missing front camera, and apparently the AT&T version gets a gyroscope/six-axis motion sensor aimed at gaming. The AT&T version is also a 16gb base handset but you can add a microSD card for a maximum of 32gb.
Overall, I'm looking forward to the AT&T version although I'm bummed they scrapped the front-facing camera because of principle (Competition is too close for iPhone).
What power widget is that in the center?
ooh..no led notifications??
i was expecting the little strip above the word samsung to have leds??
Actually the phone has 384000 tiny LEDs. Do you want more?
Now seriously: Since AMOLEDs only consume energy when used, it would be great if the screen (in standby) could show some small visual notification. Are you listening Samsung?

We knew LG is going to release it before end of the year, but as we can see work on the update is in advanced state already.
Screenshot shows that interface isn't going to be changed dramatically. IMO that's a good thing.

If they were going to release a rom before the end of 2014 (less than 2 months away) they were always going to have the rom in a near complete state by the middle of this month at the latest.
Mixture of lg's ui and lollipop's ui...
It is awkward
I have a feeling it's going to be a horrible mess of elements.
I doubt about "a few".... 2 or 9 . Anyway, this is a good new.
Oh man. That quick settings panel looks horrible. I hope the finished product doesn't carry those Optimus UI elements.
Jesus, that's terrible looking.
LG
Please dont use this disgusting color in lollipop
It is not appropriate color for lollipop
Why the softkey doesn't change ?
It's not final.
I don't know why are you telling it looks horrible. G3 UI is flat and fits material design. Notifications look same as on N5 + quick settings. Nothing horrible here imo...

There are already Lollipop KDZs for the F400 variants out there now! You gotta pay for them on this site but Im sure they will surface "other" places very soon
http://www.lgbbs.net/forum-65-1.html
Honestly I wished LG would provide us a more "vanilla" look... Apart from the introduction screen and notification panel not much seem to have change graphically :/
Just hoping it's not the final look
I just wish they would forget about updating to Lollipop and concentrate all of their available resources on properly optimising what we already have.
Oh god i am so hyped.

supposedly it should look similar to 4.4.4
but this is based off a video upon one of the Sony YouTube channels
Yeah, but their can be some UI changes, like many OEM´s did e.g. Motorola, LG and Samsung.

I really never thought i would say it but samsung UI looks quite good on Lollipop, atleast the status bar colour change and recent cards stacks have been implemented nicely, could've done better with the notification and quick settings. HTC seems to have completely removed everything material. its all greyed out.
Here's to hoping sony doesn't remove too much material design out from there update.

That of course will be foolish. Sony's UI while is mostly only skin deep, but it keeps the OS fluid and working smooth. what i would love to see is its theming system being improved. more on the tracks of like CM theme engine. even Samsung is saying it will allow users to change theme in future. while Sony already has a theming system, it just changing colour for most part, and with almost no change in notification panels or even icons for that matter. if they can do that while retaining the fluidity of the current version, that will be awesome.
I will like to see more "flatness" or more lollipop inspired theming without implemting much of AOSP. Like lollipop on Touchwiz, i actually like it very much, and LG´s G3 UI, it´s also very nice and cool. I will like to see something similar on Sony´s lollipop update.
Lollipop is like Android design from Gingerbread, there was most black and now most blue. Sammy design Looks like the hole System is blue.
I actually like Touchwiz even if it´s blue. But i think they could maybe blend more colors in
I'm so expecting

Petition A protest against Huawei/EMUI's old school Multitasking/recent app menu

many of us have had enough, let's face it the old school kitkat style of Huawei's multitasking/recent apps is a joke and destroy the whole workflow and multitasking of the device
My Plan is to collect as many names as possible and I will send it to Huawei.
What makes me angry is that even Huawei 8 seem to have the same multitasking look.
Vote in the poll and write in the thread what you voted.
THIS is what multitasking on android SHOULD look like.

How does a diffrent launcher help it help nothing at all!
the multitask/recent app button will still lead to the same EMUI based multi task page which looks terrible.
Bad overview and slow, force you to swipe thru pages inastead of see all open tabs in one page in an overview.

Well on the Mate 7 forum 78% does not like the EMUI recent apps multitasking.
Well the sad part is there is no easy way to get rid of this EMUI multitasking, a different launcher will not help, if you go thru great pain to root the device and modify the software a lot you can get rid of it, but it is not easy. If it was possible to change with laucnher it wold be no problem, unless you root no matter what you do if you push the multitask/recent apps button it will lead to the EMUI recent app pages, which is usless, the main reason for that it lacks of "overview, only "4 taps" are visible, while with android vanilla way you can over 20 tabs or more visible in just an overview, which is very superior, also it goes a lot faster to swipe thru all tabs, while in the EMUI you have to swipe thru packages, this is typical "chinese brainless" software design. That it looks almost the same for the Mate 8 does make me very angry, this is a dealkiller for me, multi tasking is important, I used the LG G3 for 3 months during my Mate 7 was on repair I did really like the standard recent app tabs, it is so superior so much faster and flexible, I have no idea why the chinese do not see this, there is no benifit at all with EMUI's recent apps functionality, it is also to slow and responsive to be useful. it should be fast and snappy as it was on ,y LG G3. Shame on you Huawei...I hope you are reading this.

Update Zip to enable DT2W on Huawei / Honor devices

If you are using a Huawei / Honor device without DT2W (double tap to wake), you can enable it using this zip file (apply from TWRP).

we need a kernel to support dt2w
I tried it, the option shows in settings but only DT2S works on lockscreen. When i try to DT2W nothing happens. Probably kernel related. I know that we have fingerprint for unlock...but could be nice to use this feature, after all almost every huawei device has it. We have to hope in a custom kernel...someday
I use the 'ALWAYS ON DISPLAY' app from the playstore, supports dt2w, a feature I've grown quite faint of since owning a LG before this phone... It's a way to get it back plus the always on display from the s7/s8

Hi there,
How much does it shorten the battery life? Obviously the phone is not sleeping when this is on and unlike oled, the LCD requires backlight to be on to work.
Also can you choose another style? I'd like something more minimalistic if I were to use it.
I too would like to know how much battery resorses this app needs?
Please tell us more about your experiance with this app and dt2w
It does have several other modes, some of which are definitely more minimal...
As for battery life I can't really complain of a huge difference. Especially with root because this app works great in conjunction with Greenify, also helps to keep the brightness turned down low, and pocket mode enabled (turns screen off when proximity sensor is covered). All in all it does seem to very from day to day tho. Some days I can't even tell that it's affected my battery life whatsoever, and some days I can tell that it does somewhat. But never go the point that I reconsider it's worth. To me it's a no Brainer!
