How does a diffrent launcher help it help nothing at all!
the multitask/recent app button will still lead to the same EMUI based multi task page which looks terrible.
Bad overview and slow, force you to swipe thru pages inastead of see all open tabs in one page in an overview.

Well on the Mate 7 forum 78% does not like the EMUI recent apps multitasking.
Well the sad part is there is no easy way to get rid of this EMUI multitasking, a different launcher will not help, if you go thru great pain to root the device and modify the software a lot you can get rid of it, but it is not easy. If it was possible to change with laucnher it wold be no problem, unless you root no matter what you do if you push the multitask/recent apps button it will lead to the EMUI recent app pages, which is usless, the main reason for that it lacks of "overview, only "4 taps" are visible, while with android vanilla way you can over 20 tabs or more visible in just an overview, which is very superior, also it goes a lot faster to swipe thru all tabs, while in the EMUI you have to swipe thru packages, this is typical "chinese brainless" software design. That it looks almost the same for the Mate 8 does make me very angry, this is a dealkiller for me, multi tasking is important, I used the LG G3 for 3 months during my Mate 7 was on repair I did really like the standard recent app tabs, it is so superior so much faster and flexible, I have no idea why the chinese do not see this, there is no benifit at all with EMUI's recent apps functionality, it is also to slow and responsive to be useful. it should be fast and snappy as it was on ,y LG G3. Shame on you Huawei...I hope you are reading this.

Lol, they can't read English. The screen for EMUI 4.0 now displays the windows horizontally.
I'm applying for an unlock key as of now.

Need even MORE eye candy!

Since I've had my DZ I have been mildly impressed with the fade-out effect when closing applications, compared to what I had on my old Desire. I'm also now running ADW EX Launcher and the transition effects it provides when moving from homescreen to homescreen are nothing short of awesome!
As well as knowing my phone's OS is technically advanced compared to others (iOS, WP7), I'm really looking now to make everything about it as beautiful, slick, futuristic and flashy as possible.I want iPhone/WP7 owners to pick up my phone and go "WOW!" Any suggestions?
EDIT: I'm looking for widgets, apps and modifications that will take my phone to the next level.
I want this Surfcube Browser on Android...
You can try some live wallpapers, such as the fish tank and there area bunch of matrix wallpapers.
Yeah, live wallpapers are good - definitely something that iOS and WP7 can't do.
I've been browsing around the other forums and I think I just need some nice animations, along these lines
Perhaps I need to go and hassle some ROM chefs to add some of that stuff into their Sense ROMs.
Any other suggestions? I'm quite missing my Sense widgets (cos I'm using a replacement launcher).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=814072
Check out that thread and it will really add some eye candy to your phone. The transitions can be applied through metamorph. Just make sure the transitions.xml file is there and apply it and the transitions should be working, may require a reboot though.

To be really really honest, I'd rather have no transition effects at all and have the thing open the next screen in 0.0000001 milliseconds then to have fancy shamcy transitions and have it delay like 2 seconds or 3 seconds for it to go to the next screen.
I mean, we are not exactly in elementary school anymore where we are all impressed with fancy transitions on the phone and on power points...

Speak for yourself my friend, but I AM impressed with fancy shmancy transitions
Isn't it great that Android can accommodate us both!
And despite my phone being no slouch, until it really CAN open apps instantaneously, I'd rather kill that 0.25sec with something nice to look at, than a briefly blank screen.

MIUI
It's already happened.
I'm just waiting for someone to port it to HTC Vision...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Or-9T44Bt7M
EDIT: I know that there is already a MIUI rom, but it's kinda glitchy right now.
I'm waiting for the "official" one.
oops... never mind.

Why is it so hard to hack the samsung devices?

Im curious to know, samsung devices always take longer in developing roms, htc devices are super fast and get the roms within weeks, im seriously considering buying a galaxy s 2 but im sure samsung will put their HORRIBLE iphone wannabe ui touchwiz in it , and i wanna get rid of it ASAP ,why do rom development takes longer? is it because not that many developers have samsung devices or because they are just harder to hack?
There is no cracking, perhaps we can say hacking...
And HTC devices were the ones choose by google to run a dev rom (on nexus 1), now it's samsung...
Just wait..
And, touchwiz is far far from iphone ui, and on any device you can choose another launcher, in the market, without any "cracking".
And, that thread is a question... so it should be in...? In....? Questions !!!! Yeeees ! First learn how to search, read, only after that you can "crack"..

This should be in Q&A.
Samsung ROMs are much harder to developer for because Samsung took Android and changed everything they could get away with. All the internals of the Android system has been changed in some way. This is why the guys porting CyanogenMod have run into a spot of trouble. Also HTC phones have been on the market much longer then the Galaxy S so there all fairly similar which speeds up the development process.

Im sorry... but i dont think its that similar to the iphone UI
I know the application menu is similar....but there is only so much you can do with that set up...Plus you can change the way you view your apps in the galaxy s...
Also the camera..... seriously apple did not create that design....i had a LG touchscreen phone before the iphone came out ( im pretty sure about that lol) that had a similar camera interface to that....saying samsung stole that from apple is ridiculous.
Some aspects are similar but the interface is hardly a rip-off

Yeah I'm all about the list view, it's at least alphabetic unlike that messy grid. It takes a bit to whip from top to bottom, but all I really do in there is get at things I hardly ever use or fetch something to put on a home screen.

So using your logic the iPhone ripped off the UI from Blackberry, right? Apps on the home screen, notification bar on the top...
Samsung has a phone that is actually easy to hack. No signed firmware, no trick needed to load anything.
But it seems the HTC devices have a larger community. Not strange, because the first Android phone was a HTC, and the original users and hackers have probably moved on to another HTC.
I do not know the mood in other forums, but I feel that plays a part too. Developing is something to do together, not something that a person does because others are demanding it or anything. Also something to be rewarded for (thanks, updates, extensions, people writing documentation and translations, etc).
I think with a better community we could figure out the possibilities of the command line of the SBL and maybe even boot images from external SD. Like done on the Kathrein satellite receiver where a third boot loader is used in place of a normal kernel, and that can load from external storage. And a better community will protect against shouters that say 'you killed my phone'.
However it is like it is. Not because it is impossible, but because of some other reason. Probably mostly consumers, and not hackers, are buying this phone. Because there is not a strong community, it doesn't have the mind share.

Go Launcher HD for Tablets v1.0 Beta

I just stumbled across this today and so far I really like it. I was using the Trebuchet launcher on Thor's ICS v96, and although it does have a lot of customization it is slightly laggy. So far Go Launcher HD is running super smooth with no noticeable lag.

It appears there is very minimal options available (It is a BETA, I will forgive them)
Themeing is not a option, yet.. Maybe keep an eye out.
I like the new dock, but they need to use more of the screen for available widgets, utilizing ALL of the screen.
I can compare say, Stock Launcher, to GoLauncher Ex, where the margins on the side are smaller, giving more space, maybe I am insane. At this stage, I have set up something, but I am not a huge fan and will go back to GoLauncherEX until they sort out the theme issue and give us more options. Hopefully they can implement all those of the normal EX and maybe some more? EG, making wallpapers work better (most of us are faced to use Multipicture Live to correct incorrect showing wallpaper)
in short, it is good, but not great.. yet. Hopefully with updates, this is fixed
It's only a beta but so far so good. I'm sure themes will be an option down the line, and I agree that the top and bottom margins are way too big.
Really like it can't wait to see what happens next really sleek and fast launcher compared to the phone ver. On tablets...

[APP] FlipFeeds: Flipboard 'esq reader for all Android Devices. Complete it?

Hi all,
I have been working on an HTML5 based reader similar to Flipboard that would work in Android, iPad, Windows 8, etc. However, with news that Flipboard will be releasing to Android this year, I'm debating on if it's worth my time to finish. A few things of note:
It's powered by google reader
It actually has a better image grabbing engine that FB for image detection
Around 32 page layouts thus far
Scales areas and fonts dynamically to fit any resolution tablet/screen
Grabs the first few pages, then keeps going in the background for quick start

Here's a link to check out the super-pre-alpha: http://youtu.be/g3hNYtNVGJM (so you can see it already grabs articles and sorts areas and images)
What do you think? Should I put the time in to finish it for everyone?
Thanks,
B.
I think if u can manage to create and page transition effect that makes flipping through them as exciting as it is on Flipboard then ur App will sell itself....i don't see that on your video.... it's laying out new nicely though.
try to focus on visuals and gestures.

Yea, it's complete alpha stages right now. I don't even have the code in for viewing an article. I won't be taking the exact FB effect, but was planning on making a swipe effect of some kind, but don't want to spend the million hours finishing this out if everyone says "Why bother, we'll use FlipBoard."
Thanks,
B.
Put in mind that Flipboard announced that the company will release the app only for chosen devices ....so if your app suits older less powered devices and have some cool features that are optimized for smooth browsing and doesn't consume battery ...then i think u should work on it and don't give up .
second of all you should know by now people lke to try out new apps every now and then ...we get bored fast my friend
good luck developing ..but if u loose interest then it's also ok .....maybe u will come up with something even better

Yea, now that the APK is out I'm seeing that Flipboard is working fine on older devices, I think I'll hold off. While I'm happy to continue building this, I don't see much point unless Flipboard doesn't come out tablet optimized. Happy to give people another option, but I only have a limited amount of time, and could never compete with the feature list that FB provides.
Thanks,
B.

Can you guide me to switch to stock recent apps
Sent from my HUAWEI MT7-TL10 using Tapatalk
For multi tasking I have now found a life chahing app..
Really recommend this one!
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.echoff.easyswitch&hl=sv
the only downside with it is that the logo looks almost like skype.
Symtoms of using this app is that you very rarely use the home buttton even though I use nova launcher
there is not need to go back to home screen, just one swipe the left and you will get all your app icons ONTOP the screen you are on..
Also super fast to switch between the last used app and the app you are using. both apps are loaded in memory so the translation is seamless.
Mm multitasking image.
