[Lollipop] SonyXperia Twitter´s Reply To Me About Update - Xperia Z2 General

Hello folks.
I was curios about what Sony have on their sleeve, and i did have some thoughts and questions regarding the Sony Lollipop update. Therefor I i asked @SonyXperia on twitter if they are getting a new UI aside with the lollipop update. They replied with this:

Have a nice a day

supposedly it should look similar to 4.4.4
but this is based off a video upon one of the Sony YouTube channels

Yeah, but their can be some UI changes, like many OEM´s did e.g. Motorola, LG and Samsung.

I'd love to see accent changes with theme like 4.4.4
material blue is boring to me somewhat.
lets hope Xperia Lollipop turns out good

I hope so

I really never thought i would say it but samsung UI looks quite good on Lollipop, atleast the status bar colour change and recent cards stacks have been implemented nicely, could've done better with the notification and quick settings. HTC seems to have completely removed everything material. its all greyed out.
Here's to hoping sony doesn't remove too much material design out from there update.

That of course will be foolish. Sony's UI while is mostly only skin deep, but it keeps the OS fluid and working smooth. what i would love to see is its theming system being improved. more on the tracks of like CM theme engine. even Samsung is saying it will allow users to change theme in future. while Sony already has a theming system, it just changing colour for most part, and with almost no change in notification panels or even icons for that matter. if they can do that while retaining the fluidity of the current version, that will be awesome.

I will like to see more "flatness" or more lollipop inspired theming without implemting much of AOSP. Like lollipop on Touchwiz, i actually like it very much, and LG´s G3 UI, it´s also very nice and cool. I will like to see something similar on Sony´s lollipop update.

Lollipop is like Android design from Gingerbread, there was most black and now most blue. Sammy design Looks like the hole System is blue.

I actually like Touchwiz even if it´s blue. But i think they could maybe blend more colors in

I'm so expecting

The icons I found from this post from XDA. (thank you XDA user mikebeecham)
The background is from AndroidCentral. I typically roll black... always come back to this.
The ROM is Onyx 2.1 via Team Whiskey (leaked 2.2).
The 1x1 weather widget is Beautiful Widgets (I really do not like the 4x2 style).
I only have ONE screen... LP lets you have 15 icons at the bottom, that have swype gestures so there are really 30 apps I can open with nothing on my desktop and not opening the app drawer.
I find myself chocked full of lameness, in the sense that I rarely deviate from stock. About the only areas where I bother to customize is wallpapers and ringtones, though I have a massive collection of both courtesy of Ringdroid and Google image search.
And even there it seems that I tend to think a bit narrowly. Most all of my wallpapers are either artwork of Audrey Kawasaki or Sumi Keiichi.
Currently running TW's Obsidian v2...Heck, even my screen layout and icon positions have become a matter of course. I've kept my screen layout pretty much identical since July regardless of firmware.
I r the suk

I would...but it's actually REALLY A LOT LOL.
Furthermore it's stuff that is too easy to find if you understand how to use Google's Image search. Though wallpapers in our screen's native format are harder to come by (960x800), the aspect ratio of 1280x1024 traditional desktop wallpapers is nearly identical (1.2, compared to 1.25). An app like Wallpaper Set And Save will fit these with no discernible distortion.
In other words, I'm so lazy that I do not break out Irfanview and Gimp to custom resize, I just use backgrounds optimized for the 1280x1024 desktop resolution. Making that one change though opens up a world of millions of wallpapers to those like me who would rather look for new and interesting stuff than spend all day in image editing software resizing things....
Lazy I be.
Makes a lot of sense actually, thanks. Never really understood the point of those apps.

haha, that's awesome. Did you find that on androidcentral?
This background is hysterical to me.
And here are a few more that I found recently from either Google Images, XDA or Team Whiskeys site:

I like it... I am more stock Guy.. not sure why so many people hate the TouchWiz UI, I love the features and have not found it to cause me any issues.
I am waiting the segmented Battery to get posted over to FROYO and a nice shade bar to come along but here is my setup.
Pretty simple but I don't feel I am lacking anything.

Why am I not impressed at all with any of the android L implementations?
It's nothing really innovative that I can see, just different shapes... honestly like touchwiz 42.2, 4.3, 4.4.4 looks better... wouldn't mind seeing their overlay on things...
The Android L that Samsung puts out will not be the same.
It will have all of the Samsung Bloatware and cartoony images.
I have the Android Lollipop update installed on my Nexus 5 and it's beautiful, mostly because it's pure Android and not this TW crap.
With Samsung, it's going to be Android 5.0 Lollipop Touchwiz.
Not to worry, there will be a port as soon as we get custom recovery and custom roms coming out.

According to Polish LG-fan blog, Lollipop update will be available in few weeks. The most interesting part here is the screenshot they provided:

We knew LG is going to release it before end of the year, but as we can see work on the update is in advanced state already.
Screenshot shows that interface isn't going to be changed dramatically. IMO that's a good thing.

If they were going to release a rom before the end of 2014 (less than 2 months away) they were always going to have the rom in a near complete state by the middle of this month at the latest.
Mixture of lg's ui and lollipop's ui...
It is awkward
I have a feeling it's going to be a horrible mess of elements.
I doubt about "a few".... 2 or 9 . Anyway, this is a good new.
Oh man. That quick settings panel looks horrible. I hope the finished product doesn't carry those Optimus UI elements.
Jesus, that's terrible looking.
LG
Please dont use this disgusting color in lollipop
It is not appropriate color for lollipop
Why the softkey doesn't change ?
It's not final.
I don't know why are you telling it looks horrible. G3 UI is flat and fits material design. Notifications look same as on N5 + quick settings. Nothing horrible here imo...

Honestly I wished LG would provide us a more "vanilla" look... Apart from the introduction screen and notification panel not much seem to have change graphically :/
Just hoping it's not the final look
I just wish they would forget about updating to Lollipop and concentrate all of their available resources on properly optimising what we already have.
Oh god i am so hyped.

[DISCUSSION] Lollipop on the Xperia Z2 - Share your thoughts

The long awaited lollipop update for the Xperia Z2 has started rolling out. Let's discuss here, our thoughts, what we like and our disappointments on this update. How it is, and how u think it should be.
This is to keep those who have updated informed and to help those who are yet to update get a virtual experience of the ROM, so to speak. Share ur thoughts, be straight to the point.
Please note that this is not an avenue to rant, 'App2sd' feature for instance is a sign that Sony listens, be reasonable, just share ur thoughts and ideas, as simple as that.

Has XLOUD been re-instated, or in general, is there an improvement to the audio/notification volumes?
I can see that they have added the ability to hide heads-up notifications by swiping up from 5.1. That's a nice addition.
Seems like no improvement in the camera software :crying:

The post processing of picture is really bad. My xperia S aosp lollipop can take better pictures than my z2 at challenging situations-.-..
lol I will not go to samsung haha.. Anyway I realize it just themes. The colour can be changed .. Just wished it remain black, or dynamic colour status bar(lol.. maybe when xposed works)
This release is fluid with rare stutter around the edges.
Even kitkat has it so chill
Overall, apart from lollipop aesthetics Everything looks bit astray from Sony and more towards aosp.
However the current UI fluidity and snappiness is way better than kitkat.

Then you must have a defective device there. Try sending in for warranty. My Z2 can take absolute better pictures than the Z and Ion.
MOD EDIT: No need to be insenstively judgemental
lollipop seems very fluid and fast
however im going back to my 4.4.4 backup for the next few days
my main issues are:
root not working properly
missing xposed framework
no recovery

Is it me or is the default colour for the status bar blue instead of black? Even in chrome the status bar is bright blue.

Xposed is available, if you have root. Niaboc79's pre-rooted zip file should work just fine. Regarding recovery, if you wanted to flash a zip file, you could flash a previous kernel via fastboot, boot into recovery and do your flashing. Then reboot again in fastboot and flash the kernel back that the Lollipop ROM came with. (I think that should work, can't think of a reason why it wouldn't)

so.. as expected all UI changes mentioned earlier are there on G5

Design is very subtle, really pretty. I like it very much
The design of the UI is something like Samsung Android 6.0 Touchwiz with white accents.
Now without the app drawer (I like it because my home screen is always empty so the home screen is useless for me and settings app looks more cleaner but they bloated with a tons of features that you use it for first time and then not use it at all.
Some people will use these features daily but the average Joe will just use the phone like any other phone. OEM needs some work to advertise these new features when you buy a new phone and the most common thing is to have it enabled by default like the active display otherwise no average user will ding down in settings to see what features does this phone has. Some will some not.

I really like where they're going with the g5. Kinda tired of getting a flagship that just has a processor updates, some hardware updates, and maybe a few gadget apps. This modular thing could really come in handy. Seems like the options could be endless to what module they or third party can make. And wireless charging, I'm sure LG or a third party come up with something. I'll bite!

I think the only reason would be that there weren't many apps that could be used with this dual windows mode. And some rumors said that the Android N will bring us dual windows mode so it would be better and more useful (for many other apps).
