[Q] Can't Install Drivers - Acer Iconia A500

Right,
I've followed this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1622425
Got everything sorted.
I try to install the Acer drivers (official site, other sites.. tried various) and a blank white popup box with 'ok' and 'close' clickable appears when it's on 'installing'. I click ok, and it disappears.
I leave that for a bit, and put it into APX mode, tried the Universal Naked Drivers (Asus Transformer admittedly, but I got desperate!) and no joy when opening APXFlash.
I have installed ADT drivers.
Help!?
It's on an already rooted (was like this when I bought it) ICS (ACER_AV041_A500_1.031.00_WW_GEN1) with bootloader 0.03.12-ICS
My head is against a brick wall here!

Install the drivers manually.
When you click in device manager, don't let it search. Choose have disk. Select the driver manually.
Hope you are not on Win8.
As a last resort (win7 and below) try the Google USB drivers, And select them manually,
MD

Google drivers come in zip format. They should have all necessary drivers.
When you installed your Acer drivers, did you install them with administrator permissions? Yeah, I know, I am the administrator. But sometimes it''s necessary.
(That's why I operate from Ubuntu most of the time)

Regarding the Google Drivers as APX:
UPDATE: I have the Acer Composite ADB Interface installed (that the right driver??) but no joy on APX front.

Update:
Having followed this guide - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1662310
I made some progress.
Now I'm here:

The apx driver only loads when yr tab is in apx mode. You have the Picasso driver installed so u should be all good!

No joy. I'm going to throw it against a wall soon.
The picasso drivers never installed/loaded, I can't get into APX mode... can someone link me to all necessary drivers with a idiot's guide walkthrough? The exe/msi file didn't work for me, and I'm running Windows 7 64bit.

Can u access another pc/laptop-there have been reports in the past of issues with 64bit systems - or use ubuntu

Legendary. Tried it on 32bit XP, worked. YES! Thank you!

what is on the display of your kf ?
kindle fire static or animated or any other display ?
what do you see in device manager ?
sort of adb device ? kindle ?
When you go into device manager on your computer does it have a yellow triangle on your Android device? If it does, you need to install the drivers for it.
I know when I was rooting my device, I needed to keep installing the drivers. Not sure why but I did. Must have installed it about 4 times. Every time an action took place it needed to be reinstalled.

It's stuck on the yellow fire triangle.
In device manager, it is either Kindle (won't let me install drivers for it)
or 'unkown' - again, it won't let me install drivers for it.

I've tried to install the drivers but it always says that it cannot find any drivers in the folder I choose. And I've tried several different versions.
The drivers are in the KFU downlaod. There is a folder for them and you need to manually choose it so it searches there.

The KF auto install drivers. Fixed this by plugging the KF in going to Start>control panel>device and printers> you'll see 'Kindle' at the top>right click>properties>uninstall. Then run the fast boot bootmode 4000.

[Q] MTP USB Device problem

Today, When I connect my Nexus 4 to my computer it starts to install the drivers.
The driver consist of 3 parts, but the last one, the MTP USB device, fails to install. I tried restarting my pc and also tried alternate drivers for Windows 7 32bit.
Anyone familiar with this problem and/or it's solution?

Download and install these usb drivers from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1998650.
edit.. oops, seems i cannot read.
Uninstall the drivers that you have already attempted to install. If you want fastboot/adb, install the usb drivers manually linked 2 posts above me. If you want to simply copy files, make sure you have at least windows media player 11 installed and it will take care of the rest.

Easy way... Turn off USB debugging
Better way... Edit the mtp inf file so it works in USB debugging mode too.. U should find the info with a search.
Edit.. Note..you do need windows media player 11 installed on xp for mtp functionality.

same here. Fix?
does anyone know ?
same here but after searching a while and only be able to connect via MTP I found this not a state of the art solution:
I use to rename the file I want to move/copy/paste from xxxx.zip or whatever in xxxx.jpg, even for roms anf kernel
for example I want to copy stremax.zip in my N4 /sdcard/
on the pc just rename it to stremax.jpg
connect via MTP
copy the renamed file to /sdcard
once disconnected use a file manager to rename it to stremax.zip and move/copy/delete or whatever you want
I know, it's rude, some developer is cursing my name, but it works..
other solution is installing airdroid but you need to be on same wi-fi network

[Q] Windows 7 Driver Problems

Hi guys,
I have literally tried everything I could find here. I have tried the Universal drivers, the PDAnet drivers, and the Google drivers, and I have used an installer as well as manually installed the drivers. For the universal and Google drivers, I can get the phone to be recognized by Windows 7 as a Nexus 4, and Windows says the drivers are configured properly. However, the phone doesn't mount and ADB/fastboot still don't connect (and yes, the phone is in USB debugging mode).
After every failed driver I uninstalled the device, removed the Google drivers from USBdeview, and reinstalled the next set of drivers, to no avail. The computer has been restarted many times, no luck. I have tried all three USB ports on my laptop, and I have tried multiple cords, one of which I know for sure works.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.
EDIT: If you want, I can add a screenshot of my USBDeview entries to see if there are any conflicting drivers/interfaces. My old phone was a Samsung Galaxy S, but I removed as many of those drivers as I could find.
Silly question, but when attempting fastboot, you did reboot into the bootloader? If you use twrp, they have an adb push setting in the advanced tab(?), see if that's recognized at all?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
I couldn't use adb or fastboot at all. No adb when the phone is on, no fastboot in the boot loader. I don't have a custom recovery because I can't flash one without fastboot.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
I'm also on 64-bit Windows 7, I forgot to mention that. Just tried the Universal Naked Drivers, to no avail.
Did you update adb to the latest version (v1.0.31)? If not, adb won't see the phone

Thanks for the reply. I've been trying to use Minimal ADB and Fastboot so far, since I really don't want to download the SDK. However, I've also tried to use the newest versions of Wug's Nexus Root Toolkit and mskip's toolkit, both of which do not work.
My Windows 7 Pro x64 work PC can see it as can my personal Windows 8 Pro x64 laptop at home - both using the stock Google drivers from the SDK
Remember, also, that when you run 'adb devices' the phone will ask you to allow the PC to connect. If you don't click OK on the phone it will say it's offline

The window never pops up on the phone. ADB list of devices comes up blank. I'll try the SDK later.
Using the SDK and the newest ADB did not help, still the same problem. I'm out of ideas.
EDIT: Attached are two screenshots of the USBDeview program after I've uninstalled all the Google and Android drivers. Is there anything there that looks like it needs to be uninstalled?

So I got a bit impatient, and decided to retry the w0lfdroid method. The same thing happened from last time (apps wouldnt open) and so I decided to reboot.
As the device began to shutdown, SuperSU appeared for a few seconds, then my device switched off. I believe I have bricked my device as it has been stuck on the 'fire' logo for the past 10 minutes. Congrats to me ._.
I tried to install adb and its drivers, however drivers wouldnt install saying 'windows couldnt find any driver software for you device' when i point it to the drivers. Any idea why?

Have I done it right? I hope I've done everything. Also when I open ADB a load of text flashes down the cmd box for about a second then it closes. Ran as administrator and everything. Hoping I can get this fixed by the weekend...
Ok, I think I got it.
Doing adb devices gives me G000HH0454340LB9, I beleive this is the correct device?
Anyways, plan is:
Boot into recovery on device and select apply update from adb
Get the 5.1.1 update (firmware it originally had) and place it in the folder adb installed in.
Do adb sideload (file name)
Wait (maybe grab a cup of coffee?)
Hopefully success, back to stock firmware!
Afterwards ill root with kingroot and then remove using rootjunky supertool.
Ok, this is getting kinda annoying.
Placed the update-kindle-32.5.4.1_user_541112720 .bin file in the same folder I have adb installed.
Booted devices into recovery mode, selected apply update from adb
Open adb, do adb sideload update-kindle-32.5.4.1_user_541112720
Get error message 'cannot read update-kindle-32.5.4.1_user_541112720'
Have ALL correct drivers and stuff installed @sd_shadow
Can anyone help? I really need this fixing...

The version on my device before it was bricked is 5.1.1. I'm staying on that version since its the easiest to root.

1. Right Click on the triangle and select "update driver software."
2. Click on "Browse My Computer"
3. Click on "Let Me Pick"
4. Select something similar to this. Most Probably you'll find this
5. Now select ShenQi and Next (You can use any ADB driver you find, all work)
6. You should end up something similar to this. Now ADB Devices shows up your device and you're ready to go.
Hit Thanks if this helped. :good:
