[Solved] - Kindle Fire General

I finally got it to work.
I owe a BIG thanks to everyone that posted, especially b63.
Thank you all so very much

what is on the display of your kf ?
kindle fire static or animated or any other display ?
what do you see in device manager ?
sort of adb device ? kindle ?

When you go into device manager on your computer does it have a yellow triangle on your Android device? If it does, you need to install the drivers for it.
I know when I was rooting my device, I needed to keep installing the drivers. Not sure why but I did. Must have installed it about 4 times. Every time an action took place it needed to be reinstalled.

It's stuck on the yellow fire triangle.
In device manager, it is either Kindle (won't let me install drivers for it)
or 'unkown' - again, it won't let me install drivers for it.

I've tried to install the drivers but it always says that it cannot find any drivers in the folder I choose. And I've tried several different versions.

The drivers are in the KFU downlaod. There is a folder for them and you need to manually choose it so it searches there.

As I said, I get the same error message no matter which drivers folder I choose...

The KF auto install drivers. Fixed this by plugging the KF in going to Start>control panel>device and printers> you'll see 'Kindle' at the top>right click>properties>uninstall. Then run the fast boot bootmode 4000.

Root device? Safe?

Hi!
I have had this phone for a while now and thinking about rooting it so i can use droidwall and OC the phone. How is the easiest wat and is it safe?
Isak
i used z4root and no side-effect so far..
Ok, but if something goes wrong is it anyway to recover all data on the phone and just start up again?
i would say its always wise to do a backup before trying anything potentially dangerous..
u may read the other topic about recovery mode in this board for this..
Ok, gör det innan jag försöker roota
good luck and have fun..
worked perfect Thanks!
@Isakk1, can you please guide me how you rooted your u8800 using z4root?I got problem with the driver (huawei hsusb device)
hoping for your immediate response.tnx

do it in your own risk and make sure your understand what rooting is before rooting
get z4root, install it, run it, select "permanent root", wait until it reboots, done.

USB driver for windows? do you see the auto mounted CD drive after plugging in? the drivers are there
Why need of drivers?
Assuming you are trying to copy z4root on your device... SD-card should mount itself when you plug usb in, just choose to mount from your phone notification are.
Moved to general.
I think this is what you're trying to do:
1. Open device manager, you will see this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Then right click on the HSUSB Device choose update driver then browse my computer manually. Then browse to this:
It will then install the driver and it should show this in device manager now:
Also worthwhile would be starting cmd and running adb devices to make sure the phone is listed.
thankz a lot guys..very appreciated
i rooted my phone . but i feel it's not good idea when i use 1 week. the phone always have some issues when use, so i flash back.
Can someone upload the drivers and share the link coz I can't find the drivers on the mounted drive (it's empty) after I installed the B160 based ROM.
Drivers attached to this post
Thanks alot!
I used z4root from Applanet.net
installed easily and rooted no probs as well.

Need Help rooting with Kindle Fire Utility

I'm trying to use the Kindle Fire Utility to root and install Google Apps/Market but I'm not getting anywhere with it.
I downloaded the file, ran the Driver Install .bat file. then opened run.bat
It keeps saying that the Kindle Fire is not plugged, and I've plugged it in over and over and over.
Its not listed in "Device Manager" as Kindle Fire, it says Android Phone>Android Composite ADB Interface.
Could someone please help me with getting root and Android Market?
I'm in the KindleFire IRC chat, but no one is talking/responding.
i assume you'r talking about kfu 0.9.4
it's a good practice to extract/move it to c:\ and rename it to "kfu" to that it is c:\kfu
have you used the kfu drivers ?

And KFU will not see it.
is it booted normally ?
then the driver should be "android composite adb interface"
is the kf doing something ? rebooting ?
GooglePlay and Go launcher wont install
When trying to run extras, GApps and Go launcher the utility just closes. I can't install Google Play manually either, even though I have mounted the permissions and the device is rooted. I've also tried the SuperUser app. ES File explorer wouldn't root the system/apps folder. GooglePlay will install but closes out when trying to setup the account. I'm using the latest utility, .9.4, and I have version 6.3 on the kindle. It took me a while to get the drivers to work right, and the root, but I did finally get it. By a while I mean 5 frustrating hours, but its the only way to learn. However my whole purpose for doing this was for the google play store. Any ideas? I will also donate for help. This is an awesome utility. Great job!
You are going to have to do a little more work to get the market to work. Do a search in the development section. There is a thread for that. I think you have to get the vending apk move it to the system/app folder and then reboot and then install it from that folder. A lot of apps require that method use the search function to find info on apps you are having a hard time with.
I am having the exact same issue. The device boots normally. It jsut isn;t recognized by ADB.

ok so it seems that your ADB drivers are not working.So reinstall them.Then download the google factory image and SDK of Google.then inside of the downloaded SDK, open the sdk folder inside then platform tools,there paste the CMD prompt file.then open it. Now you have to follow these steps: http://forums.androidcentral.com/ne...-how-flash-4-3-factory-images-your-nexus.html Now hope you have stock factory image.:fingers-crossed:

Need Help Manual Fastboot Driver Installation

Hello
Sorry if this was a very noob topic
I done lots of flashing new ROM or back in stock process but i almost gave up this time
My phone status are
No OS
TWRP installed
Can boot to recovery
PC can't recognize the phone
Typing ADB devices shows empty list
Typing Fastboot devices also shows empty lines
30% battery left
I recently try to install the Lollipop version for my phone but it turns out that the zip are behaving like OTA (yep the title of the zips are OTA)
What i mean is it returned my recovery to stock
Without thinking much further i did 'fastboot flash recovery TWRP2810.img' thing (Yes i rename recovery image that way so it will be more convenience for me) and wipe all partition in the phone through the TWRP without problems
One thing i forgot is to "refresh" all ADB and Fastboot driver for my phone on the PC
Now my phone states are "No OS" and "PC doesn't recognize my phone" wether in ADB (obvious cause i can't boot with no OS so no USB debugging for me) and Fastboot (Enter Bootloader is OK, enter TWRP is OK too)
I already try the WUG step for installing the needed driver but no success since my PC can't recognize my phone
Try on 4 PC at my office and all of them are ignoring my phone
What should i do now, please, any help will be appreciated since its already the time i ussualy already at home
Thank You Very VERY MUCH for any help I can get.

Extract the zip.
Once you're done extracting, boot your phone into bootloader mode, plug in USB, should show up as an unrecognized device.
Device manager from control panel, select device, properties, driver, update device driver, browse my computer, let me pick, all devices, have disk, navigate to where you extracted zip, select inf file, adb interface.
Should work.

Do you happen to know other way around for tricking this Sir?
Please lock this unuseful thread
Before locking the thread, can you repeat all the steps and try with ADB Composite Device instead of ADB Interface?
Also, did you try changing USB ports, sometimes these things get a little troublesome because of faulty USB ports.
Last but not the least, you could also try a change of cables.

Bricked 950 - QHSUSB_BULK

Greetings XDA!
After a catastrophic failure with WPInternals as I was trying to unlock root, I accidentally got my Lumia 950 hard-bricked.
Device doesn't turn on, even on Bootloader/Recovery, and screen stays permanently dark. Trying to connect it through USB yields only a QHSUSB_BULK device, which I assume it to be far more "bare metal" than any planned recovery option.
So it's hard bricked. What can I do ?
I've tried several thor2 commands (some of them from this forum), with none being successful. As I'm fairly new to all this, it's very likely I messed up in CLI args, or used the wrong files to flash. I was wondering if anyone could be able to guide me through the recovery, along with how to get necessary files for it. It's clear that with all Lumias being EOL'ed by Microsoft, options will be far more restrictive than usual...
Thank you very much in advance!
