Voice assistance - ZTE Zmax Pro Questions & Answers

I forget exactly what button I pushed that created the voice talking to me. It took over my entire phone and I cannot do anything with it. I have tried resetting the phone to factory specs, but it still will not let me come navigate through the phone. How can I turn this off and get back to natural navigation. If I’m leaving something out, ask a question.

Universal doesn't offer Corporate Install on hard reset

Hi,
I've just obtained an O2 XDA Exec on ebay that was someone's unwanted upgrade.
Within a few days of getting it, it seemed to be unstable and I decided on the CORPORATE re-INSTALL after reading on forums about bloatware and sluggish performance.
The problem is that it nolonger offers the corporate install on hard reset. I've tried several times and it simply goes through the routine of asking me to select 0 or X to go for the factory defaults or not, I choose appropriately and it then takes me through stuff like calibrating the screen and setting passwords etc. There is no mention of corporate install at all anymore, although I did see it once when I first got it and before I knew there was a pin number to allow the clean install.
To get around this nuisance, I have done a soft reset BEFORE it starts to customise the machine, and as far as I can tell, there is no O2 software installed. I think it runs faster too. After setting up, a screen message says, 'Customisation will begin in three seconds,' and at that point I pressed the reset button. When it restarted, it just came up without visible O2 software.
My question is this, have I managed to create a dodge which allows the corporate install? I'm on T-mobile pay as you go and have set up the 3 g settings manually.
What do you techie wizards think - do I need to do anything else.
PS....
Sorry if this seems like a greenhorn problem, but before I did the reinstall, I thought the thing was hanging up when carried it in my trouser pocket because sometimes it seemed dead and had to have a soft reset. Obviously, this made it useless as a phone. However, I now think it just had the backlight disabled by the on/off button being depressed accidentally for a couple of seconds while I was moving about, and it wasn't dead at all. I've noticed that when it does appear to be hung up with a black screen, if I depress the on / off button for a second or two, the screen comes on again. I wonder if this is possibly why some people complain that it keeps having to be reset? I was well displeased for about five days until I noticed that I could reverse the apparently dead machine by pressing and holding that button. I've replicated the dark screen and the solution repeatedly now by holding in that button.

Some Help... Phone blank screening to a degree

Thanks for reading.
I'm currently using WM6.1 on the phone, and loving everything about it.
Since day 1, I've used a phone lock code, along with PIN1 code.
When unlocking the phone for after say an hours inactivity, the keypad will show, then the screen will go blank only showing the top bar of the phone.
Any press of buttons and screen will just make a beeping sound, and so far nothing I've done will restore the keypad to unlock the phone.
Is there anything wrong with the ROM i have, and is there anyone who can suggest how to correct this?
Please remember, the top bar still shows, and a reset allows the phone to work as normal (once logging back into it of course).
Thank you,
Hi guys,
Sorry to bring this back up, but this problem is still going on.
Not sure how to resolve it, so hoping someone would know how to solve this.
Thanks,
Posted twice for some reason.
Maybe is a sw failure,(50%) try to reflash with this fw: RUU_Hermes_CINGULAR_WWE_3625023_6275_1540700_108_UOOS_SVN05_Ship.exe
if your hermes its from att/cingular. after flash open and close the tap of hermes, if the blank screen continues or return this, the failure is hw (the flex component broken, bus, pcb) in this case you need to buy the spare part or send to sat.
good luck
other possible solution

Hi there,
Its not white screening, or anything else, I think the next time it does this, I'm going to have to take a picture, to make sure it can be understood clearly.
Basically, when bringing the phone out of standby (from pressing off/on button) and attempting to enter my pin into the phone the phone will allow me usually to press at least one number of my pin, and then it'll black screen, where the start bar still displays, but no response.
The handset isn't problematic when being opened for use, or anything else, its just annoying to have to reset to load the phone back up again.
I hope this helps?
Further to the above, here is what i've been talking about...
Happened last night, typically as I was bored, and had to wait till morning to take the photo...
Still no movement on this post...
Would it be suggestable to upgrade the install of WM?
If it is, how easy (will read guides beforehand) is it to do (reasonably, hard etc).
Just this is now my only phone, so don't fancy my chances bricking it.
Thanks!
Sorry to be posting yet again, but this has now happened 3 times a in row since last night. I wouldn't mind knowing if a rom fix would sort this, and if so whats the best rom to go for...
Just keen to get this sorted now...
Thanks.
If it helps, I've nothing running when this happens. The exception of last night, where I was using Audio Manager when walking home, and had to soft reset once in the door.
Hi
I am almost certain you have a software fault here and need to reload a new ROM - take your pick - my preference is schnaps - it isnt that hard to do and should solve your problem
Just go to the Windows upgrading section on here and follow the process - you will be happy

Argh! The screen is no longer responsive. What to do?

Just as i said - Argh! The screen is no longer responsive. What to do? I can no longer slide the lock across the screen. i have tried to flash the ROM with the 1.66 official but i cannot because it tells me to unlock the phone. I cant! argh! I've pushed the little red button by the battery a couple of times as well as removed the battery. Any suggestions? The hard buttons allow me to answer a call but that's it. i recently turned on the lock for the phone (today in fact) but I've unlocked it several times since doing so before this happened.
Sounds familiar...
Sounds like it is the same problem I had, as well as a few others on this forum. Even after a hard reset, it still didn't work. According to other people here, the solution is to have the screen swopped out for a new one. I've actually just sent mine in today to get it sorted out.
Just curious - I've got a suspicion that environmental conditions may have a role to play in causing the failure. What is the weather in your area like?
Very nice here today. Sunny, mid 50s(f).
I bought this off of ebay. Do i just send it in to HTC?
Try a hard reset, and if it doesn't help then make sure you have an official ROM and send it to HTC.
a hard reset is the little red button next to the battery, correct? ive done that.
and i cant very well change the ROMs at this point now, can i?

I would really like to wipe it before i sent it in. i dont want all my info, etc going into someones hands i dont know. anyway to do that?
No, that's a soft reset. Hard reset is pressing the red button while holding both volume keys until you get the "Restore factory settings?" prompt (when the device is on), then following the onsceeen instructions. This is what you're looking for to erase everything, including any possible software bug that could have caused the issue.
If the touchscreen still doesn't work then, send it in.

No! A hard reset is:
- Turn phone off
- Press vol up and down at the same time and then press power button (hold vol)
- follow the instructions on the screen
Be aware, that all you data on the phone will get lost. I recommend taking out the SD for that as well. After that u r done. By what you say i assume, that you didnt flash a custom ROM yet, right ?
Thanks! that didnt work either though.
I just want my money back now honestly. This thing, as pretty as it is, is just too much trouble.
Sorry double post...
A faulty device can happen to anybody, just bad luck... can't count how many times it has happened to me as well in the past.
I heard that there is a batch of phones that have a faulty screen, other problems are that without pressing anything the phone still registers clicks, phone doesn't always detect the correct place of where you pressed and the screen not responding.
I have got this on my phone and have arranged a pick up from HTC to pick up my phone for repair, hopefully in a week or two it will come back with a brand new screen that works
Ive had it a couple of months now. Im not sure if i can deal with the lack of apps that my iPhone has, pandora and the like, and the fact that teh HD2 would every so often change time and even date and i cant get weather in places my iPhone can.
In short, i love the HD2 for its specs but i no longer trust it at all.

[Q] Passwords no longer recognized?

So last week, my sprint galaxy s4 decided to shut off on it's own. I restarted it and discovered my password no longer worked. I didnt have much time or many options so I did a factory reset.
Fast forward to this week, and my phone shuts down again. Only this time it wont turn on unless you remove the battery and then place it back in, and then it only turns on for a second. I figure out the power button is jammed and I rip the phone apart, getting the motherboard out and clean the power button the best I can. I put it back together today and it works! I go to sign in with my password on the lock screen... and not recognized. Tried changing the password through the android device manager through google to no avail, would not take any new or old password. You can see the digits type in the box, but nothing worked.
I called sprint, they infered they couldnt replace the phone unless the screen was broken. I had a feeling they would factory reset it and send me on my way. I brought it to best buy and the tech tried connecting it to his laptop and it would not reconize the phone.
So I came back, called samsung and finally factory reset it again. I'm probably going to be sending it in to be serviced by samsung, as I got it when it first came out and the power button is on it's way out anyway.
My question is, what can cause a phone to not recognize it's password? This drove me crazy and I'd like to avoid spending any money or losing the phone for a week if I could. But has anyone else had this happen?
It's not rooted or anything, I really don't even know how to do that stuff, though ive done some research. I'd just like to try to hold out until the s6 is out

Any way to Power ON phone now that power and volume down buttons are dead?

So,I was pretty excited about the moto g5 plus, making sure I had it ordered and in my hands the day of it's U.S. release...........only to be disappointed by one issue after another.
Where to begin?
1.) Very disappointing camera(didn't expect much given the cost, but it's pretty bad)
2.) Sim Card will randomly stop reading while inside the device, thus requiring me to eject and re-insert it. Not a big deal, unless you don't have a sim tool or the equivalent on hand, then it's pretty inconvenient.
3.) Fingerprint reader is basically worthless, since it never saves the settings stored, or even requires it be my fingerprint to unlock it.
4.) Bluetooth and wi-fi decide when and where they will turn off/on.
5.) Call cutting in/out (with both parties)when I cannot hear the person I'm speaking with, and the person being unable to hear me.
Finally---About 6 weeks or so ago, my volume down button went, with the power on/off button going down about 2 weeks after that. That's ok, I can work around that. I could still lower the volume with the touch screen, and the phone would just wake up whenever I used the fingerprint scanner(the one anyone can use). Overall, things weren't bad.
Until my phone died.
So, i've been looking at a 100% fully charged, fairly shiny Moto G 5 plus.....that I can't turn on. I have tried all the usual tricks(i think?) Volume Down + power button and all its other variants don't seem to work. Tried plugging it in to my computer via usb, which will charge it, but won't read it as an MTP device. I can't go into the phone to change the settings so that it does read it correctly. I thought I had the updated driver downloaded, along with the adb program, but it probably doesn't mean much if the phone itself isn't being recognized, huh?(using PC with Windows 10).
Basically, I'm short on ideas. Is there some sort of way I can "jump start" my phone? It's a terrible device that will be replaced soon one way, or another, but if I can get it back to life long enough to retrieve my media and scout out a new phone, I would be ecstatic.
Any and all help would be very much appreciated!
Looks like you had a bad unit. Why are you not claiming warranty on this?

This is likely a very stupid question..
but how would I even go about doing so? Ideally i'd like to recover the files from the phone, but if that's not possible, then yes, claiming on its warranty would be my next preferred solution.
Very frustrated to push the volume UP button and see the phone at 100% battery.........yet not have any way of actually turning it on.
