Kinda, so it works on my Oneplus One but its dodgy, nvidia games crashes alot, but the playstore and other apps are able to be downloaded and the phone acts as a nvidia shield.

Windows Phone 7.0

http://gizmodo.com/5471805/windows-phone-7-series-everything-is-different-now
As the Gizmodo article says on multitasking:
1. It has the ability.
2. we going to make sure that 3rd parties can bring their value to the user even when the app is not running. Live tiles are an example. Data feeds in the hubs are another example.
Which means that the multitasking will be different from what we know. As an example we now know the task manager and as on XP we now the window is back or minimized. On this only the core of the app will be active and will send the data to another UI (Tile) or to the HUB...
How free this will be??? We will see.
But if they limit it and it's not hackable than I will buy an iphone or Go to android...
They can't build a such strict OS when they have all these different HW platforms that need OEM SW on the BKGRD... How they will solve this??? Not to mention Mobile Phone providers...
So i believe we all panicking without a reason. But it's good in case they had Multitasking off... they have time to turn it on after seeing all these...
Didn't they made a survey??? They only asked iphone user's??? tststs
I don't think they want another VISTA on their Hand's...
Ah well, it'll never work properly on our HD's so we will all need new devices for Win7Mob.
Plus apps from WM 6.1 and 6.5 will not work
wont work?
Hi, I dont see any reason why it wont work on our HD's, there may be performance issues but it should work, you underestimate the power of the XDA cook...!
also, Later reports suggest that all apps will be backward compatible albeit with a UI change.
dont rule out win7 yet...!

The HD doesnt have a capacitative screen, required for Win7Mob. Slow cpu, and slow flash ram under minimum spec again.
I'm sure a light version of 7 could be ported, but it would be so slow, there wouldn't be any point in it.

Yes, that night be a problem for some people, there may be ways around this though, we'll have to wait and see or stick with 6.5

Windows 8 Flaws - Short Review

Hey guys, I believe everyone has known the BUILD conference by Microsoft pretty well and know quite a bit about Windows 8 for now. I have written a short review on the short-comings of Windows 8 and decided to share with you guys. Please leave me a comment and tell me what you think, and I'll gladly thank you in return.
http://www.seednonym.com/2011/09/major-flaws-in-windows-8-known-so-far.html
This article is written as of now and is subject to change as development continues. I'd like to know what you have in mind regarding the issues.
Thank you.
Regarding "Major Flaw no 2":
Not supporting Flash (or any other plug-ins) in IE10 when running the Metro UI is not an issue in my opinion, that is a great feature. Flash really is a disaster in general especially on smartphones and tablets. Flash has had it's time, now its time to leave Flash for HTML5 or dedicated apps.
And since the breakthrough of ipad, Flash is slowly dying, and this move by MS will speed up this process. So this is not a big issue when W8 arrives. And we'll probably see third party browsers for metro UI with Flash support (e g google chrome/firefox?) if you really need Flash.
And plug-ins is a huge security issue as well.
Regarding the other issues - they seem a bit irritating, but if these are the major flaws you have found in a alpha-OS then this looks really promising.

Yes I do agree with point #1. However most web-based applications still run on Flash and it takes time to transition over to HTML5. Flash imo hogs too much system resources hence it actually would slow down performance - a key note why Steve Jobs insisted not to incorporate in iOS.

Actually, if you make the same banners/advertisements with the same animations in HTML5, it will use even more resources. And believe me, those banners will still be made. HTML5 and supported video codecs(patented) for the video element is also questionable.
Flash is not that bad in regard to performance(especially with the latest version of flash utilizing the GPU for acceleration).
However HTML5 is an open standard and flash is not, so that's a good reason why flash had it's time.

I think designing on the same base, flash could actually produce better animations as compared to HTML5 as the variety is much more made for animated transitions. Correct me if I'm wrong.

So you can't judge a school child when he is in primary school.
It's the same theory. Everything has to improve, and people has to point it its flaws from time to time. When it's finalized, there will be even more little flaws found. It's how disadvantages are cut down to the minimum.
Give it time to improve now. 8 months from now we'll see to the official release.
Regarding closing apps, you're not really supposed to close Metro-apps, just as Android. Look for example here:
http://www.winsupersite.com/article.../wininfo-short-takes-september-16-2011-140606
"
Top Windows 8 Question: How Do You "Close" a Metro App in Windows 8?
Answer: You don't. Windows automatically suspends apps that aren't on the screen and, over time, will shut them down as needed, so you don't have anything to worry about, or anything to micro-manage. In some ways, it works a lot like it does on Windows Phone, which makes sense, though it's a much more sophisticated system. And if a Metro app does hang, you can always kill it with Task Manager, just like you do with today's applications. I'm guessing that won't be a pressing need, based on the quality of the underlying platform, called WinRT (Windows Run Time).
"
If this works well or not in practice is something we'll need to find out of course...

Yes I have read the app managing system and yes it does work like how Gingerbread manages applications. However there are certain times which you would want to shut down the number of apps as it will affect the amount of applications you have to swipe through each time to reach your desired app.
Point 5: This is amazing for Tablet point's of view, assuming they have an airplane mode. Otherwise "go directly to jail, do not pass go, do not collect $200"
For a desktop the fast resume could be useful, but for small individuals or students like myself even small increases in power bills hurt. If we have 4 devices doing this then it will knock us over our budget (yes thats how tight our budget in NZ is)

Airplane mode would just cut off the data line, however i don't really think it really consumes that much battery. for tablet in deep sleep mode it could last for days on light usage.
I liked the new windows. Internet explorer 10 is extremely fast. The switching between apps is fluid and smooth. I know multitasking is an issue but only for a select amount of people. I don't know how many people actually run more than two applications at once but for me its not an issue. You can still snap two windows side by side so I have enough to do my work while watching movie etc. btw the flash works but you have to select the internet explorer from the desktop not from metro.
So far, I've liked it. I like that it suspend tasks, saves battery that way and nothing eats up too much memory that way.
Looking forward to more improvements.

I see. I've read Adobe is now stepping up the game and start poking into HTML5 on top of Flash at the same time, so that problem is generally solved.
Has anyone found anything that's worth adding under the list?
I think the list is almost perfect as it is, but a small correction for #2, Windows 8 does support Flash (and other plugins) on both x86 and ARM when running in regular desktop IE10 rather than the Metro IE10. I think this makes perfect sense because you're mostly going to be using Flash with the mouse and keyboard, as the uses for Flash - games, web apps, etc - don't work too well on a touch screen anyway.

Not sure which beta you used but I had 7 as my main OS since beta, and it was leagues better than vista.
The decision to remove the start menu and its dedicated search along with apps not being designed to close entirely are the ones that are bugging me the most. For now.

HTC Desire HD compared to HTC One X [both on android 4.0 and Sense 4]

Hello everybody.
If anyone is interested how our device performs next to the "big boy" like One X, here is a video showing you exactly that.
Besides, it prooves absolutely the oposite of what HTC have said about our device running better android 2.3.5 than android 4.0.

Great video! What ROM are you using?
Sent from my Desire HD
Yes, would be interessting to know which ROM is used on the DHD. Runs really smooth in my opinion. Currently i'm using Virtuos Infinity v1.30.0 Alpha 1.
This video actually doesn't prove a thing. You usually don't see much of a difference unless you did something more resource heavy than what I saw him do in the video.
Thanks a lot man U have just confirmed what we all were suspecting. This device is more than capable for running ICS and HTC just want us to buy another cellphone

Actually marl30 is right, you can take any phone and do those things fairly quickly, the difference is in the heavy using. What is the point of having ICS if your phone will not be able to play games as smoothly as it used to before. Some people would say they don't need games, but that is not the issue. A company such as HTC is obliged to provide a ROM with full functionality, heavy gaming included. If in their opinion DHD is not capable of running games on ICS the same way it was on GB then their not releasing ICS for DHD would be fully understandable. Although I tried gaming on HTC and must say that there is little difference in performance. The issue is that the drivers are not perfect and sometimes there are glitches on the screen or some lights missing.

1- little difference.
2- nothing is perfect, even htc's last oficial rom was buggy
3- of course there are glitches, devs here are either porting from other phones or building from ground up and doing a hell of a good job.
4- and yeah, I do agree with your initial statement - but that is not the issue as stated beforehand.
Sent from a dream.
Don't get me wrong, I also think we should get ICS or even JB. I believe that it would run like hell on our DHDs. I'm only saying that you can't compare those two phones barely on such mundane tasks like opening an sms app or launching facebook. The test with locking and unlocking the phone is just playing stupid. You can take any new phone and compare it to any old phone and the result will be the same, the task is designed to be easy on the phone so to be accomplished quickly.
Try running these two through a benchmark or measure the framerate on some gameloft games (Asphalt, GT Motor Academy etc.) the difference will be huge.
Quite frankly, to me the only viable reason for us is the fact that HTC One V (or One S) is actually the same phone as our DHD but with ****ty camera, and that thing is getting ICS. So if the same hardware with worse camera can operate sufficiently under ICS why can't the DHD. It obviously is a scam on us customers to make us leave the great device that we have and go spend our money on some new HTC phone. If you ask me that whole thing with ICS helped me with a decision, I know now that my next phone will not be HTC, probably SGS III or Note 2, at least they get support.

Yes, but both devices use same software so its only the matter of hardware (and cpu scheduler) how fast they unlock But yea, it clearly did not proove anything besides that Desire HD can run Ice Cream Sandwich like big phones can. I think that was the point?
Well, almost. What I meant was that running ICS is one thing, other thing is to run apps on ICS. In the same way you can compare an old PC and a new PC. Old one will run games ok under Win XP. New one will run games the same under Win7. But if you install Win7 on the old PC the system itself will run fine, simple tasks will run as well as on the new one but you will not be able to play your games anymore.

I got your point (edit: maybe I didn't), but it is not the same to put a benz engine in a toyota frame than a toyota engine in a benz.
Android is basically linux (someone correct me if I wrong), and linux is developed in such a way you can put it in older machines and works much better than windows in the same machine.
If android follows the same philosophy, then there is no reason why a fully optimized ics or jb can't work on our dhd's/inspires.
I may be wrong and I may have digressed from your initial premise, if I did sorrry.

You are correct. Because every update does not make the system resource heavy, but its optimized so it runs smoother and buttery good, like jelly bean. Its not like windows - they are heavier and heavier because they want people to buy new computers. Remember - windows has 85% sales when people buy windows preinstalled on computers. You cant compare it with android or cars (cars and engine - you are talking hardware here, we are all about software)

HTC should learn something from this.. The developers in XDA can do this so why cant the engineers at HTC??

No !
Nobody is going to port to "old" hardware. Everybody wants to sell us new stuff.
And I'm not sure anything currently on the market even has the power for Android (Wear), nevermind whatever checklist of items Google decided compliant devices must have.

Sorry, the Pebble Smart watch isn't powerful enough.
The CPU is an STM32F205RE Cortex M3, the chip can be at best 120Mhz, unsure if the Pebble even has that much, perhaps only 80Mhz.
It has <128Kb of memory and only 1Mb of storage.
Essentially the cpu would need to be >10 times faster with 5-10 times the memory and several thousand times more storage for Android Wear.
That btw doesn't mean that Pebble can't make a good eink Android Wear device, in fact, they should do it. But it will be a completely different and vastly better device compared to their current offering.
Yeah, it needs to have more power in order to do that.

6th Gen Console Emulation on Nexus Player?

So Dolphin Team has released Dolphin Emulator Alpha on Google Play:
And there is a Dreamcast Emulator on the Play Store called Reicast:
(XDA wont let me post the links because i'm new. Sorry)
Obviously these emulators run like garbage because it's running on mobile phones. But, the Nexus Player has a pretty decent Intel Processor if i'm not mistaken. I know the software side of things also plays a role in the poor performance, but it's at least worth a shot right?
I'm buying a Nexus Player in the near future, and i'm trying out this idea I have (which i'll show soon), and I was wondering if anyone with a Nexus Player could download those emulators (whether officially or sideloaded) and tell me how it runs. I have some follow-up questions, but those questions won't matter if the Player can't run the emulator, so I want to see before I ask. Thank you
I can confirm that the reicast emulator (latest build) is working well on the nexus player. most games i tried run with fullspeed just tony hawks didnt run really smooth. some minor display errors but very playable.
The only Android device that will properly run the Dolphin emulator at full speed (read: Wii, not GameCube) is the Tegra X1 Shield TV.
the processor of the nexus player is not supported by the dolphin app. it won't even install.
NP
thanks for all the answers guys. Both emulators support 4 player multiplayer, so I feel like there’s a lot of potential here. It's a shame about Dolphin, and I already contacted the devs about it, but the fact that Reicast works is great! I'll reply if Dolphin team ever replies

How are you guys getting Reicast to work. I can't even get to a point to launch the bios file. It keeps crashing or won't let me launch.
I figured it out and it works! So what I had to do since I don't have a USB hub, I copied the game file and BIOS to my NP and then used a wired mouse to set the directory and click over to the main area. I couldn't do that without a mouse.
running my games off of a 32 gb micro usb and so far they are playable, going to try an otg adapter and a better usb drive over the holidays and see if it gets rid of some stutter.
