[Video Review] Xiaomi Mi Mix After 10 Months --- still worth buying? - Xiaomi Mi MIX Guides, News, & Discussion

A quick video I made last week. It would be great if you guys can go check it out. Thank you.
Video here

Really cool review. I have only seen two youtube videos of this phone running custom roms, so that is always a pkus in my book. Was part of this video shot in Manhattan?

You filmed it the wrong way. Thumbs down
Yes.. That vertical letterbox makes it unwatchable. I only lasted a few minutes. Too distracting
I may not be a professional youtuber (yet ) but the best advice I can give you is maybe get your camera/camcorder a tripod so the camera is still and do it that way otherwise very strange but great video!
Was this meant to be a joke?

[Q] AXON 7 Video recording

Hi everybody, I'm almost ready to buy a A2017G, I've read lot of impressions and reviews and I'm 99% convinced.
Mi biggest doubt is about the camera, first of all about the video recording, watching this comparative test between Axon 7 and S7 Edge:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ni3pb7UwwJU
is more then clear that the Axon 7 video results to be not stabilized and present a very slow autofocus, what are the owners impression about it?
Thanks.
Slán!
Camera is better then ok. I make videos of my children all the time. Videos are nice. But if you compare it to Samsung it can not win. Samsung is known to be the best in camera department. This video is 1 year old . With updates the camera got a lot better. You won't be disappointed...

I agree, with good light camera perform really good, and it 's almost at the level as Samsung. In low light that's where you see the difference.

Video quality

Your friends are never going to believe what you did. The only way to prove it to them is with that video you took. Rate this thread to express how videos shot on the Sony Xperia 1 come out. A higher rating indicates that videos are smooth (and not choppy) and that auto-focus works very well, and that the camera adjusts quickly to different lighting conditions while recording.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
My initial experience is it struggles to focus when recording video
And it seriously overheats when recording 4k video for any reasonable length of time.
The 1080p video is class leading: no quibbles there. It's absolutely the best, most stable 1080p footage you can get, with brilliant immersive sound recording.
The 4k,... notsomuch. The image itself is fine - good colours and great DR for 4K but Sony really need to work on their stabilisation. The most recent update has helped but it still struggles some on the horizontal axis, making it not as stable as competitors. The EIS is not working well with the OIS.
So it's a mixed bag and one that is a software update away from fixing. But if you keep it on 1080p then you're in for a treat.

I've had the June update, yes. Some improvement but it still struggles not to jump on the horizontal axis, which it still does. Fine if you're not walking but really distracting if you are.
There is actually an answer to the problem, I've discovered - so long as you're not wedded to the SteadyCam effect: switch stabilisation off entirely.
Yes, really.
The stabilisation toggle seems to apply only to the EIS not the OIS, which is automatic. As it's the EIS not playing well with the OIS that is causing the issue, switching it off actually fixes it.
Your videos no longer "float": it looks like you're walking. But you're walking,... Smoothly.
@Timaustin2000 is there any way to turn it off for CinemaAlta app?

I believe that OIS is locked in the Cinema Pro app, in that neither EIS or OIS are working. Apparently it's so that you can get better results on a tripod but I do wish they'd add it as an option - not everyone can justify buying a gimbal.
Hey guys,
I shot this video on our beloved Xperia 1.
As the video description says, I'm not a pro. In fact this is my first time shooting travel/cinematic video. Got encouraged because of how Sony advertised this(these) camera(s). This device inspires creativity.
Anyway, great potential in this thing to be out there at the top of smartphone camera game.
Please share your thoughts.

Yes, I used Cinema Pro app for all clips before latest firmware update. Also I used my roommate's Snoppa Atom gimbal, it was struggling a bit to stabilize phone of Sony Xperia1's size. Both previous firmware and gimbal did not help much with stabilization.
Hello, is there anyone that knows how can I record a 1080P video with 120fps? I tried some apps, they only can record with 60fps .
Thanks~
Just been to see Metallica. Took this video on my Xperia 1. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LilEirkBxRM.
The sound quality is awful.
I wish device supported 4K 60fps or CinemaPro app let us shoot 1080p 60/120fps videos. Slowing them to 50% would make "cinematic" video experience far better.

In fairness, that comparison tool does show that the Xperia 1 captures some pretty great detail.

It's good quality but it's not the best, especially when comparing with those 2 and against a previous generation phone....

Horrid. The HTC U11 and U12+ easily beat that. This is very disappointing.

Choppy whatsapp videos

Hello.
I would like to know if anyone is having the issue that I am having.
The problem is whenever I share a video that was filmed by me using the camera app, and share it via whatsapp, the resulted video is choppy, jittery and low resolution. It looks like it was filmed in slow motion, even though it wasn't, and the quality is really bad.
Tried switching from 1080 to 4K and also tried 30 fps and 60 fps and the result is the same.
Low quality choppy videos send through whatsapp.
I also tried HVEC format and still no luck.
I have an Oppo find x5 pro running the latest 12.1 color os and the latest version of whatsapp.
To ensure faster data transmission, Whatsapp reduces about 70% of image quality by default. It is a good feature when sending images for daily use. It adds that you can send it as a document.
My previous phone, an Xiaomi Mi10 5G, didn't had this problem.
I switched to oppo 2 weeks ago, and since then, the sent videos are really crappy.
Was there a difference in file size?
I didn't tried with the same file, but now my wife has the xiaomi and when she sends me videos through whatsapp, they are fine, they play normal. If I send her videos using whatsapp they look choppy, the video stutters and sometimes they look like they are filmed in slow motion, but the sound is normal.
Thanks for sharing. Sounds inconvenient. Hope it gets fixed in the next update
This is indeed a issue with the Oppo Find X5 Pro. Me and my colleague have the same issue.
I have reported this problem both to whatsapp and oppo.
Only whatsapp responded but with no connection to my problem. It was an automated response.
I'll ask oppo for you mate and ask them to see what's up.
Thank you!
Yesterday I installed the latest whatsapp beta, and with this version the video playback isn't as choppy and jittery as it was on the play store stable version, but the quality is really low.
I can see some small improvements, but not how it was on my previous xiaomi.
An update: all beta versions following 2.22.11.2 are worse in sent videos playback. The video is choppy and it looks like a fast photo collage.
But interesting fact: the selfie camera videos are sent in normal quality and the playback is nice and smooth.
I don't really know what else to do.
I've updated coloros to the latest A18 version today, but the whatsapp choppy video still present.
I have no answer from oppo team... I'm kinda disappointed.
No answers from either whatsapp nor oppo.
I've noticed on play store a review from another user of oppo find x5 pro that rated whatsapp 1 star and complaining about the same problem as mine.
Nobody takes any action.
It's very frustrating. I don't understand how selfie videos are sent normally and rear camera aren't.

It's also happening on my Brother's OnePlus 10 Pro though being a UK handset if running Oxygen OS still rather than ColourOS
Though I'm fairly sure they still share resource OS/Software wise
Try to send the video as a document works perfectly
Exactly the same here, Whatsapp video playback absolutely sucks. However it seems fine for whoever you send the video to, so that's something at least.
No, it's not fine for the people I'm sharing with. They told me that the videos I shared are choppy and laggy. I've tried every beta version and still no fix. It's like they don't even care...
Same problem with my Oppo Find X5 Pro here. It's something... far worse than the usual low quality granted by whatsapp on other devices. I think Oppo should fix this...
I really think that whatsapp should fix this. If I share the same video using Facebook messenger or telegram, the video is send fine.

Any answers yet, mate?
The only way I managed to send the video via WhatsApp without being choppy is I uploaded backup the video on Google Photos (Mode: Storage saver), then I deleted the original video from my X5 Pro. Open Google Photos then upload the video from there. If the original video is still on your device it will still be choppy, but if it's deleted and only available on Google Photos then it should be not choppy when you uploaded it on WhatsApp.
