Choppy whatsapp videos - OPPO Find X5 Pro General

Hello.
I would like to know if anyone is having the issue that I am having.
The problem is whenever I share a video that was filmed by me using the camera app, and share it via whatsapp, the resulted video is choppy, jittery and low resolution. It looks like it was filmed in slow motion, even though it wasn't, and the quality is really bad.
Tried switching from 1080 to 4K and also tried 30 fps and 60 fps and the result is the same.
Low quality choppy videos send through whatsapp.
I also tried HVEC format and still no luck.
I have an Oppo find x5 pro running the latest 12.1 color os and the latest version of whatsapp.

To ensure faster data transmission, Whatsapp reduces about 70% of image quality by default. It is a good feature when sending images for daily use. It adds that you can send it as a document.

My previous phone, an Xiaomi Mi10 5G, didn't had this problem.
I switched to oppo 2 weeks ago, and since then, the sent videos are really crappy.

Was there a difference in file size?

I didn't tried with the same file, but now my wife has the xiaomi and when she sends me videos through whatsapp, they are fine, they play normal. If I send her videos using whatsapp they look choppy, the video stutters and sometimes they look like they are filmed in slow motion, but the sound is normal.

Thanks for sharing. Sounds inconvenient. Hope it gets fixed in the next update

This is indeed a issue with the Oppo Find X5 Pro. Me and my colleague have the same issue.

I have reported this problem both to whatsapp and oppo.
Only whatsapp responded but with no connection to my problem. It was an automated response.

I'll ask oppo for you mate and ask them to see what's up.

Thank you!
Yesterday I installed the latest whatsapp beta, and with this version the video playback isn't as choppy and jittery as it was on the play store stable version, but the quality is really low.
I can see some small improvements, but not how it was on my previous xiaomi.

An update: all beta versions following 2.22.11.2 are worse in sent videos playback. The video is choppy and it looks like a fast photo collage.
But interesting fact: the selfie camera videos are sent in normal quality and the playback is nice and smooth.
I don't really know what else to do.
I've updated coloros to the latest A18 version today, but the whatsapp choppy video still present.
I have no answer from oppo team... I'm kinda disappointed.

No answers from either whatsapp nor oppo.
I've noticed on play store a review from another user of oppo find x5 pro that rated whatsapp 1 star and complaining about the same problem as mine.
Nobody takes any action.
It's very frustrating. I don't understand how selfie videos are sent normally and rear camera aren't.

It's also happening on my Brother's OnePlus 10 Pro though being a UK handset if running Oxygen OS still rather than ColourOS
Though I'm fairly sure they still share resource OS/Software wise

Try to send the video as a document works perfectly

Exactly the same here, Whatsapp video playback absolutely sucks. However it seems fine for whoever you send the video to, so that's something at least.

No, it's not fine for the people I'm sharing with. They told me that the videos I shared are choppy and laggy. I've tried every beta version and still no fix. It's like they don't even care...

Same problem with my Oppo Find X5 Pro here. It's something... far worse than the usual low quality granted by whatsapp on other devices. I think Oppo should fix this...

I really think that whatsapp should fix this. If I share the same video using Facebook messenger or telegram, the video is send fine.

Any answers yet, mate?

The only way I managed to send the video via WhatsApp without being choppy is I uploaded backup the video on Google Photos (Mode: Storage saver), then I deleted the original video from my X5 Pro. Open Google Photos then upload the video from there. If the original video is still on your device it will still be choppy, but if it's deleted and only available on Google Photos then it should be not choppy when you uploaded it on WhatsApp.

Google Camera app and P8 lite

Hello there, i opened this thread just to talk and maybe get some ideeas for a better camera app.
Because i wanted to install Google Camera on my P8 Lite and i saw that its not in Google Play.
After some searches on web, i found out that GC is aimed for Nexus devices mainly. So i told myself.. ill find the apk and then i understood what happened. It seems that starting from version 3.1.021 video recording is no longer supported for some devices.
So, even if version 3.2.045 can be used to take pictures, for video we get all the time an error message. And even if by chance it starts, video records only in frames. After testing every available arm version, i found that Google Camera 2.7.008 from August 18, 2015 its the last compatible version that works foto/video on P8 lite.
So, why i to search for a new camera app? Well i got a lazy nature, i take photos every week and i found that many of them are blurry, 1/3 of 6 month of photos where trash. So i was "w*f.....". My old phone was a S3 mini, well using its camera app i had like 1/6 blurry photos.
I'm looking now for a photo app just like S3 mini camera app, if possible with selection scenes like portret, landscape, sport, party, sunset, sunrise, text, etc.
Any ideea what to look for ?
Regards, V.

Try open camera (https://goo.gl/r5qwIW).
To be honest I have tried several 3rd party camera app and compared it's picture quality with default camera. Even though default camera is slow but it's picture usually has less noise in it. If you want to make pictures less blurry use manual focus or pro mode.

Video quality

Your friends are never going to believe what you did. The only way to prove it to them is with that video you took. Rate this thread to express how videos shot on the come out. A higher rating indicates that videos are smooth (and not choppy) and that auto-focus works very well, and that the camera adjusts quickly to different lighting conditions while recording.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Good stabilisation and auto focus, not much more to say
4k video awful. Stutters and judders whenever you move. FHD+ not much better. Quality is also not sharp. A massive let down here.
Video quality not good terrible jittering ,i expecting more from this expensive phone
price asked has nothing to do with quality there are 200$ phones with crisp 4k video on the market

I got exact same feelings. The video quality is a bad joke...
Keeping my fingers crossed for a software update soon!
I spend a good hour at huawei booth and just couldn't get an explanation why there were jitters and dropped frames at 60 fps especially when panning. Also, 4k had few dropped frames and jitters but there was some sort of warping/bending at the sides of the screen. Again , no explanation.
So wanted to get this phone and am hoping someone has some answers why (perhaps it's ok when exported to pc?) or maybe some setting i'm not aware of?
Same here. Video quality suck and it always want to brighten the video when shot in a sligthly dark room. Hopefully there will be a fix but meanwhile snapchat app actually records better video than the default huawei app... Thats kind of embarrassing for huawei. It seems to be a sofwareissue.
Do anyone know any good external camera app to use?
Any one have the same problem like me.
No sound when making a video. When I restart the phone than sound comes back , but after a few more videos no more. I have now library of movies with no sound.

I'm using Cinema FV5, it's having a lot of manual settings, so I was able to shoot a video which looks quite more natural in low light.
Gesendet von meinem LYA-L29 mit Tapatalk
I am not happy with video recording, pro mode options are limited and there's no dynamic control option i.e., you can't change settings while recording video other than zoom and focus. lot of pixel dropping in 4K, stabilization is good though, 146 has tweaked it well. another thing i noticed is long exposure shots with ISO 50 are giving lots of white dots or burnt pixels which are spoiling the photo shots. this means camera photo-detectors are not well ventilated for heat dissipation. also some of the features that Huawei boasted about such as cinematic mode are useless, low light videos are horrible...
only photo quality is good.
Slow mo
Hey guys, second post around... I've been testing super slow mo (960 fps) but the quality is a bit rubbish, the lense is the same as far as i know, and at 120 fps it takes good video, despite blurring everything at 0.6x... Do you have the same problem? Is there something I'm missing about slow motion video? Thanks!
Slow Motion is far better in Note 9. Big disappoint on Video recording on M20 Pro
Photos are great, Videos recorded are worse than $200 phone

I feel the same.
But both on Note 9 and Mate 20 Pro, the lack of manual focus on slow motion is sad. I lose lots and lots of opportunity for nice slowmo videos because they are out of focus (e.g., looking out the winodow of a moving train when entering the station). Simply being able to lock the focus would make it awesome.
4K video works fine for me
As long as you move smoothly the video is very nice as long as you are outside in good light. But first remember to use "performance mode". This is very important! Of corse the stabilization is not as good as in full HD;
4k30fps is not the way to go for smooth footage with any movement involved, let's hope the market still cares about Huawei in 2k20 until kirin 990 comes along

If you shoot video a lot, download Filmic Pro. It gives you full control on the camera. You'll be able to lock the focus and the exposure. Keep in mind that shooting 960fps video requires lots of lighting otherwise blur effect. The S9 has the same "issue". It is not an issue in fact it's just how it goes even for professional. Slow motion with bad lighting is a bad idea. Hope it helps

It depends a lot on what you shoot. and what texture you are looking for in your final footage. For more cinematic videos many will recommend 24fps. For slow motion high framerate. Shooting in 60fps you'll get a texture close to "real life". Hope it helps

Video recording in Iphone XSMax are gorgeous, better than Mate 20 Pro period. For Samsung S10 I don't know but my guess is that they are both better than Mate 20 Pro. Mate 20 Pro just do the work
the video recording quality is quite the disaster. i hope it is fixed in an update some point soon. i'm pretty sure my zte a7 has better video quality....sadly...

Laggy 4k 60fps video recording

Hi there all,
I received my 6T 8/256 last week. I'm still in official ver 0.7. I've checked that all my videos recorded in 4k 60fps are laggy. They skip frames and do not reproduce accordingly. I thought it may be a buffer problem in the phone itself, and moved them to the computer. They are laggy per se, they're recorded with this failures. Let's say they lag every 2 o 3 seconds (only video, not audio), giving the impression of a low quality, under resources smartphone.
Can you double check this? Can anybody confirm this problem is fixed in next updates? Otherwise I will have to switch to 30fps, which is a real pity in the quality standard.
Thx guys.

Does not lag on mine, but I have McLaren edition
Me too
Lags on my OP6 too. Even the 4k30 results are choppy. It's been like this for months now, videos come out like crap all the time.
Video is running fine on my OP6T at 4K60. I also have the 8/256 variant. I am currently on OB17. Maybe update your phone to the latest OOS as I know they made a few camera updates between what you're running and the latest OOS (9.0.17). Or you could download a newer APK for the camera from another source. I believe the newer camera versions from the 7/7 Pro work on the 6T but have issues in some modes (Pro mode, I believe}.

Same here. I think this is because of crapy camera app that needs to be rebuilt because it has bad algorithms botch video and photo
I honestly prefer GCam on this device. I haven't noticed any issues with it on the device. Even with recording at the specifications that you noted above. Pictures are also of much better quality.

I use the GCam Tool from the Play Store. I use it mainly to stop the multiple subfolders created when taking portrait photos but it can also be used to flip/mirror the front camera images if the camera app you use doesn't offer the option (some combinations of GCam and Custom ROMs need to have the flip option enabled to correct the images).

I am quite certain GCam doesn't support 4K60 on the OP6T, only 4K30 max. I may be wrong, so apologies if I am.

Hmm...I set the settings and it showed the 60fps icon in the corner so I assumed it was recording at that frame rate.
These are just what I have set with the config file for the beta. Seems to record and playback fine.

Audio quality in recorded videos is disgusting.
Apparently the processing of sound that comes through mic in Realme 6 Pro is optimized for phone calls only. Aggressive noise cancellation damages audio-tracks of all videos you're trying to make (except perhaps if you're filming crowdy scenes, bazaars etc.: where everyone is screaming like barbarian..). Birds singing on background, for example, will be deleted automatically by system. Calm voices of normal, cultured persons will be excluded. Even if you speak close to mic, your own speech will be chopped. Never came upon such ugly sound recording algorithm in my entire life. Not Pro sound at all. This problem alone is enough reason to NOT buy this Realme 6 pro. (Wish I knew it prior to purchase).
If anyone knows how to disable noise cancellation in Realme 6 Pro, kindly share.
There is similar problem (at least) in Redmi 5, and there is a solution for it: https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-5/how-to/guide-how-to-disable-agc-noise-t3856304/amp/
Wish we had a working receipt for our handset too.
very low sound in recorded video. Video specially bokeh mode so laggy, hardly usable. Realme should have fixed it via update.

The simplest solition I found is to use Open Camera app for normal sound during video-recording. Unlike stock software, Open Camera allows to customize sound recording during taking video. This is good solution, cause no need to root phone.

Magisk modules aren't found anymore on that page. Try my suggestion, it is safer cause no need to install Magisk.

Bokeh video isn't a simple thing to pull off at the first place. It's really good thing to have since camera lens isn't supporting the feature at all. I think its okay enough.

Had my phone a couple of weeks now and already installed 2 updates, now running RMX2001_11_A.30.
Not sure if this was a problem before because I hadn't recorded any videos, but I am getting a big noticeable delay on the audio in videos recorded with the camera. It's very annoying to see the clips with the audio out of sync with the image.
I suspected it might be a playback bug, but if I play video files on my phone which were recorded on another device there is no sync problem, and similarly if I send my videos to users of other devices, they also have out of sync audio, so it is the video files created by the phone which are problematic.
Does anyone know how to fix this? I mean fix existing files to correct the sync problem and fix the video function in the Realme phone? (Third party video app maybe?)
Have tried a few third-party camera apps, but the result is always the same.
It seems that there is software which can fix the videos after they are recorded, but that's not really the solution.
I'm surprised there aren't more people complaining about this TBH. Am I alone with this?
Same here. Main camera have auto sync issue, but wide cam doesn't.
Also, GCam is out of sync too.
Imho, this Realme should release fix for this
