The OP in that thread stated that the recovery there is not the same as the one needed for the s3, is that not the case?

They are basically the same devices. It will not make any difference if you are on the 19s boot loader. I used le S3 twrp backup. It worked fine.

Successfully installed TWRP Recovery on Tab Pro 12.2SM-T900

All,
I wanted to share with everyone that the TWRP recovery that was made for the wifi note pro SM-P900 "Exynos only" works on the Tab Pro 12.2.
Original thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2706982
I downloaded the tar file and flashed with Odin 3.07
Here is a picture.
Very nice! So it works just fine? It makes sense just cause its the same everything inside. Did you use cf auto root to root? I'm going to be getting my 12.2 in about a week!
worked for me using cf auto root and twrp for note pro.
the problem is not much custom roms to pick from for the 12.2
True, I am pretty okay with the stock rom. I wish someone would just debloated stock.
Sent from my SM-T900 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
BTW I am on the pro plus rom and its stable, but I wasn't able to get the GigaWatts Pro to work.

This is my first go around with a Samsung tablet, does Odin take care of unlocking the bootloader as well? Or can I just use Towelroot to root and then run the unlock commands and flash this via adb?

No, that won't work for t321 (3g) version. Actually, it will erase your stock recovery and install an incompatible one so that if you factory reset you get stuck in "Cannot boot normally" mode.
It worked

My pro should arrive in the mail tomorrow. So forgive me if this has been asked, but I thought these tabs were locked down by knox? Can knox coexist with root and custom boot?

Knox and root can coexist but the super su will and you if you would like it disabled, click yes and your done.
Its just a locked down program/area within the software.

It may install but is it actually working correctly? In that original thread, they are having many issues with TWRP and cache mounting and partitions. I don't want to do this on my Tab Pro 12.2 and be stuck in boot loops and having to find and reflash this, that and the other.
Well? Anyone?

Mines working perfect.
The only issues I had was trying to flash the gigawatt rom that has since been removed. Worst case, just odin back to stock.

I had some Problems when attempting to wipe data within twrp. had a bunch of cache errors and couldn't get it to boot. Had to release p900 and wipe data in Stock recovery. Didn't go back for 2nds after that

Always worked fine for me. Only thing I noticed was it took a long time. the other thing. Don't do the advanced wipe, it's not needed.

CWM Recovery
Did anyone ever tried this recovery for A5000, even it's for A5000 they say it works very welll on A500F
The recovery available on the same site for A3000 (SM-A300H) failed to boot. The only option was to flash the recovery from sock firmware. The recovery for A5 might work, but as a word of caution, keep the stock recovery (ODIN compatible) handy. Development for the A series has been painstakingly slow.
Perhaps you may try this:

Thanks bro, finally there is custom recovery for our devices.
I got questions though:
1. Woluld they work on A300-fu?
2. Would they work kitkat?
Also, it would be helpful for A3 users if somebody could share those mods and deodex from that website to XDA since I couldn't understand how they to make them work.
Hi all! I've made a TWRP recovery for GALAXY A3! I can't test it because I don't have an A3 but if you test please tell me if it's work
This recovery is probably working on all A300x variants, flash it using Flashify.
It's made for LL (Lollipop) but you can try on KitKat

Is it safe to upgrade to TWRP 3.0.2?

Hi there.
Is anyone here using TWRP 3.x? I'm still on 2.x, since I read of lots of problems with newer versions of the recovery on this device, but I'd like to upgrade now. Can anyone give me some feedback?
Thanks in advance
It works but as with multiple posts not with Aroma.

I see no reason to update if u have no issue on 2.x. sometimes upgrade is just a no go.

If you're trying to downgrade, it means that you've flashed TWRP.
If you've flashed TWRP, it means that you already know how to flash a custom recovery.
If you already know how to flash a custom recovery, then this is EXACTLY the same thing. Just pick an older version of TWRP and flash it the exact same way you would flash any version of TWRP.
And if you don't even know how to do that, google is your friend.

Need Stock ROM, boot image

Basically, I fricked up and for some reason, my nandroid backup is stuck on boot animation after restoring it. I think I need to flash the system image again, and maybe even the boot image. Would be greatful if I got the latest (December 2019) ROM. And this is a stretch but I could also maybe use the stock recovery. Thanks!
