Is it safe to upgrade to TWRP 3.0.2? - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there.
Is anyone here using TWRP 3.x? I'm still on 2.x, since I read of lots of problems with newer versions of the recovery on this device, but I'd like to upgrade now. Can anyone give me some feedback?
Thanks in advance

It works but as with multiple posts not with Aroma.

I see no reason to update if u have no issue on 2.x. sometimes upgrade is just a no go.

Derp, must've missed that. I'll obviously stick with 2.x, then.

Try it.. It totally a new design You can revert back, if you don't like it.. By flashing the image through the new twrp itself.

If you're trying to downgrade, it means that you've flashed TWRP.
If you've flashed TWRP, it means that you already know how to flash a custom recovery.
If you already know how to flash a custom recovery, then this is EXACTLY the same thing. Just pick an older version of TWRP and flash it the exact same way you would flash any version of TWRP.
And if you don't even know how to do that, google is your friend.

[Q] Is there a recovery available yet?

I want to backup my current stock rom, if there is no recovery yet available for rooted verizon users, what should I do?
..
How do I make my own recovery?
Is that how other people would be flashing roms that are posted on here?

What? There is a recovery included with SafeStrap(TWRP).

To the OP, no idea what he is talking about other than it might be slightly different than what you are used to using. Download and install Safestrap. Then when you reboot, you can enter Recovery which will be TWRP. Then you can backup, flash, whatever.

Using TWRP after enabling encryption

I'm not able to get roms to stick after enabling encryption with the 5.0 factory image, using TWRP 2820. I've seen some people say it's fixed in this version, but I don't see how it works. Can someone please point me in the right direction?

I enabled encryption on the 5.0 factory image (android encryption, not twrp backup encryption) then decided I wanted to try out a custom rom. When I wiped and flashed nothing stuck. TWRP said everything was successful, but there were absolutely no system files installed. I tried several different flashable zips and no files ever were written to the system partition, including mods, roms, supersu, etc. The only way I was able to get a rom to boot again was by restoring the full TWRP nandroid backup I took after encrypting.
I know someone has to be able to help me with this.
Anyone??? Please.....

Nope. Works for OS3 too. I believe the firmware is what's causing your bootloops. give it a shot.

I understand you want PA, but your firmware needs to be MM firmware. So you can either flash that or flash the official OS3 first then flash PA.

Getting back to stock EMUI super easily, almost no hassle

Hi everyone, today I will be telling you all how to get back to stock as long as your bootloader states "PHONE Unlocked" and "FRP Unlock"
You will need to install this, this is super duper important! https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/development/tool-flash-official-firmware-recovery-t3769279
When installing, you will see the error: "E: Unknown command []]"
DO NOT BE AFRAID!
That is supposed to happen lol.
Installation procedure -
1. Flash this TWRP: https://drive.google.com/file/d/18uHjW73Th8iYKIs5m_QgwleMIOjsZd7S/view?usp=sharing
2. Wipe everything except SD card, then choose "Format data" to decrypt device
3. Reboot once again into TWRP (NOTE: If you are using USB OTG cable, make sure to plug it in AFTER TWRP is fully booted and ready to go, if you do it early, you get an error, which is weird lol. EDIT: Not sure if this error is still present in the new twrp, but it's never bad to play it safe.)
4. Flash HuRUpdater, make sure the file names are correct!
5. Reboot into stock recovery
6. Factory reset and wipe cache partition
7. Reboot
This method also enables themes to work again, so no need to worry about that!
Lots of thanks to @zxz0O0 to providing this awesome tool
And more thanks to the OpenKirin community for helping me out when flashing this! :good::good::good:
hello crayonicle, hehe im on the dot os for now, im interested going back to stock. will i get official updates backs from honor if i go back to stock using this method?

Hi !
Does it work to restore on the BND-L21C432B121 ? Because it's marked for 7X but does it works on all firmware versions of this device ?
Thanks !
hi op,
does this work on L24 the usa version?
What update.zip file did you use? can you point to the link?
Also, does this update take the recovery to stock with no TWRP?

Yes, after flashing this via twrp, if you reboot once again to recovery, it is stock recovery, not twrp.

Updating bootloader and modem to the Oreo and then go back to the Nougat

Hello there!
I come here with really important question.
I use the Android Nougat as a daily driver but I'd like to update system to the Oreo. Will I be able to go back to the Nougat if I flashed the Oreo's bootloader and modem?
Thanks in advance for answers!
