Where is the Verizon LG V20 forum? - LG V20 Questions & Answers

Why is there no Verizon LG V20 section setup yet? Usually these are up before the phone is even released and it is now currently available.

Is there something special about Verizon phones? What applies to one phone seems to apply across all carriers with the exception of the unlockable bootloader the Verizons don't have.

Sadly I feel confident that verizon will have changed something about the phone...missing settings/features etc....usually verizon phones are their own separate beast. Lol

Verizon always makes security changes to the firmware which requires unique methods for modding. This is particularly true for rooting and unlocking methods.

Anyone on verizon take the new update?

I haven't received the phone yet but I will disable updates right off in hopes of an early root exploit.

I've been hesitant on taking it, if it comes out that this update was the one to lock us down I don't want to have go thru the hassle of trying to downgrade to a previous update. Patience...

I'm coming from a Note 7 which had root almost on day one. I certainly didn't expect it that fast but it does happen....I'm still pissed about having to return the Note 7. I'm really considering returning the V20 anyway, it feels like junk compared to the Note 7. It's leaving a bad taste in my mouth.
Just boxed it back up to send back, I just can't do it. If the Note 7 is ultimately disabled, I'd rather use an old Note 3 I have than the V20.

Get t-mobile bootloader unlocked ???? =)

I've got the V10 on Verizon ... and I love it. Best phone I've had in a loooong time.
The Verizon store (Chicago) has them in stock (Titan only), in there as they opened and I was the very first visitor to use the phone and spent over an hour toying around with it and here are my thoughts;
1. You CAN block phone numbers FROM THE PHONE! ! ! ! (Can't do that on the V10 - and CallBlock apps will block the ringer, but not VoiceMail.)
2. I was able to delete some of the Verizon Injected Apps - but not all the bloatware.
3. Loads faster, open/closes App's faster - (although the difference is infinitesimal.)
4. Great App access options and customization.
5. Better 2nd Screen --- and MUCH better user options!
6. Look & Feel: It feels a lighter - and it is. The matte finish is "smoothish", and it's fits nicely in the hand - and here is my only concern; I for one hate covers and cases - I buy a thin phone because it's thin and I care for it like it's made of crystal. The V10 has a wonderful back that is quite grippy. But the V20 is a bit too slippery, so when I get it, I'm going to have to put a light-grit application on the back of it.
7. Camera is nice and the easy ability to switch from the regular lens to the wide-angle right on screen is a great touch for the shots I take. The video options are excellent and adjusting what side of the phone the Audio pulls from is great for shooting party shorts or running commentary on a video -- so much better than the V10 version.
8. The screen is sharper, clearer and an overall nicer view --- again, it's negligible, but for my old eyes nicer.
9. Earpiece is a bit louder ... as is the Speaker (which the staff at the store weren't too happy with my testing ;- )
After playing around with it, downloading some of my favorite apps, it's definitely a better phone. Verizon is offering $300 for my V10 trade in, but I'm going to wait for a few to get it, go through it, find out what apps can be deleted, what's locked and if Root is fully available.
Or, if you wonderful guru's can't get it to Root, then I'll buy the Unlocked version from LG and throw my V10 up for sale.
My two phones worth.

The S7 edge compared to the Note 7, the S7 edge feels like straight junk.
V20 does not feel like junk compared to the Note 7. The V20 is a legit phablet phone.

V20 is made entirely of plastic. Everywhere I looked for reviews they talked about the aluminum back but never mentioned that it was heavy and aluminum because it's actually the phones frame. Top and bottom are both cheap feeling plastic, yeah some plastics feels cheaper than others. Ironically the rigid aluminum back is why there's no wireless charging.

I'm on Verizon. I still haven't even purchased the V20 yet because I'm looking to get the US996 up and running. It's just a hunch, but it seems like my best chance of acquiring root on this device (on Verizon). I've also been following the pixel forum and development is rocking over there. Yet, I think the V20 seems WAY better. The way I see it, I can purchase a pixel xl from Google and be assured that I will probably be able to root, but I really want the V20. Either way, I've already accepted that ANY device purchased through Verizon is bound to be locked down to the max. Anyway, just my 2 cents. With regard to the OP, do you think it's better to split up development or work together in 1 unified forum for the V20 on all carriers?

Yup, Verizon development goes out the door when you purchase a Verizon phone, even the pixel. Google phones purchased from google will always get development, thats the plus side. Google pixel is over priced and I feel its not worth the high price right now.

There is a carrier specific forum for most phones. Many MODs only work on the firmware version they were designed for. Also there will be carrier specific firmware releases and issues. For example the V10 has a specific forum as do all SGNote versions

I was transferring apps from my Note 7 to the V20 so I had both of them in hand, also had the back off while swapping SDcards. At that point I realized the aluminum back was the only decent part of the phone. But this is just my opinion, I'm sure others will think it's a great phone.

I'm coming from 5 note 7th bought the Google pixel XL and consider that a junk phone the LG V 20 right now to me is a pretty awesome phone to box it up and send it back as Beyond Reason.

They have plastic at the top and bottom for the antenna. I personally don't get a feeling of cheap with this device. The N7 was made of cheap glass. Mine slipped out of my pocket and fell literally 3" (i was lying down)and cracked. It sounds to me like you're more upset with the Samsung debacle than anything else. Go get a note 4. That'll hold you until the note 8 comes out.

Note 4 regrets

Even though, there is no root for the device yet.. Does anyone regret purchasing their note 4?
If we never get root I might....
I've never rooted an android so I really don't know what it's capable of. But I'm very happy with my Note 4
None here!
Love the screen and fast charging - ive got unlimited and hotspot though and I dont pay for the phone or plan, so I'm kind of a shoe-in for being perfectly happy.
I'm neutral. My note 3 was worth $360 when I sold it. I paid full retail, minus $7360, minus the incoming $200 rebate, thus I'm out $200 after taxes and what not. However, I could sell this Note 4 tomorrow for $600, thus I'm holding $400, a $40 increase. So with my math, the phone was free.
Due to that, I don't regret it yet, but I sure do miss root.
if I don't get root, I'll regret and either sell this to downgrade to an s5, or downgrade to an international. both downgrades will cost me a lot out of pocket..

Why not just get the dev version?
I'm starting to regret my note 4 purchase, in fact I'm taking it back Friday, probably gonna go with the LG g3 that's what I was gonna get but was talked out of it. I like the note 4 but why all of this Knox crap. To much security for me, screw you verizon! Smart phones are fun but there actually a tool so be carefull.
A bit, only because of not having root. Having come from a T-Mobile note 2, Really annoyed at how locked down Verizon is.
I just switched from tmobile to Verizon, that was a good move cause verizon coverage and reliability is so much better. When I switched I was planning to buy the note 3 cause it was rootable but no one had it in Stock so I bought the note 4. No regrets at all but I will most likely sell the retail version to get the developer edition if root is not achieved soon.
Only a couple things that bother me because of lack of root, not being able to use Titanium and not being able to replace the God awful current version of Google Maps with version 6. The latter was remedied with the discovery of Waze so for now I am good on that front.
Other than that, nope, I LOVE the Note 4 and am good to go for a while.
I have not even used mine much yet. I got it on launch day, but with no root it's just collecting dust right now.
I'm still on my Note 3 with Jasmine rom most of the time. I'm starting to seriously think of selling off my Note 4 and getting the dev edition.

Well if you're really into custom roms which the note 4 obviously doesn't have then you may have a problem. But i had the g3.. The screen just wasn't up to par, extremely poor brightness (try using it in a well lit room or worst outside) the lag caused by the thermal throttling to keep the display from overheating the phone, it may sound like I'm bashing the g3 I'm not but it's just note good as the note in my opinion. It does have root though so Hey that might be the better choice for you.

Aren't you afraid that you'll open it and it will end up being defective? After 14 days, you're stuck with it. I already had to return one defective phone.
By still having unlimited data makes me want root really badly, but I am sure it will be here sooner or later. One thing I do have a thing about is the home button. Call me OCD, but man... it feels like I am double clicking all the time when I am pressing it. Anyone else having the same problem?

Should I get a nexus 6P or wait?

Hi all,
I currently have a HTC M8 One with a semi-functioning charge port. I don't want to pay $150 to have it fixed. So, I'm looking at what's out there and coming. The specs on the Nexus 6 P look great but the HTC M10 one and Samsung Galaxy S7 also look great. I'm leaning towards the Nexus6 p but is there anything that makes this phone stand out?? I'm currently on Verizon and thankfully the HTC m8 one has a nano SIM. So activation should be pretty simple.
All depends what you like. I used to buy flagship phones and I've always bought Nexus every time one came out and imo there's just no device like a Nexus device. Maybe OPO but yeah Nexus is the real deal, pure uncut Android. Roms and kernels run better and have no bugs like other devices. It all depends what you like. For me I'm all Nexus and this 6p is by far the best one ever made. The camera is amazing and CPU is great too. Battery life is great. Just depends on what you like really..

I had a galaxy s6 activated already on Verizon. All I did was take the sim out and put it into my 6P. You can't try and activate the 6P itself because they will tell you that it is not supported on their network. You have to use a sim that has been activated for a previous device.

With devices and carriers seemingly becoming more and more locked down, I'd highly recommend the n6p for you on that reason alone. I came from a VZW galaxy note 4 and I was very disappointed with the lack of root and development options. Although I will say that, it being my first Samsung device, I did eventually see very little reason to NEED root.. However now that I'm back on a device with more freedom I'm remembering how much I missed the features you can't get otherwise.

All I did was call VZW (to my understanding you should be able to accomplish the same by going into your local VZW store) and had them overnight me a nano sim card, only because I was coming from Note 4 with micro sim. I popped the sim card in and after about 5 min on the phone with customer support I was up and running.

Personally, if you're on the fence about it, don't get it. The phone speaks for itself spec wise, and on the hardware level. Stock everything, so fast updates, etc.
If you're into the HTC / Samsung, you're mainly doing it for the software tricks / gimmicks, but also puts you behind the 8 ball as far as updates.
I would have personally waited for SD 820 devices since they are only about a month or so away at this point. And please don't give me the typical apologist "there is always something better around the corner" line. I'm completely aware of that, but there are plenty of devices gonna be announced in less than a month and some releasing shortly after that.
If they were 6+ months out then I would say to dive in head first. But unless you 100% want stock android, there is very little reason to get one at this point.
Just ordered a gold. I have a rooted S6 on Verizon which runs great. But...I want a device running latest and greatest, larger display, and better battery life. S6 has been a delight besides multitasking being borked and battery life. Only things Im really scared Ill miss is the Touchwiz theme engine (yes i said Id miss a touchwiz feature! Lol), and the superior display technology. There are some gorgeous themes on here

One thing you can't argue is the build quality from Huawei compared to HTC and Samsung. Regardless of the software packed into the latter manufacturers, there is no denying that the build quality is far superior.
I had the 6p on two different occasions and ended up returning each of them because it just didn't feel right in my hand. I went back to my trust Nexus 6 and the solid feel is there and the software is right up to par with the 6p.
I'm a fence sitter, i currently have a nexus 5, that is currently running stock, as i was intending to trade it and use the money to offset a nexus 6P.
A few things have kept me on the fence with the 6p such as:
Lack of QI charging, or any cases or accessories to add this - Yes QI charging is slow, in some cases much slower however its incredibly convenient, ive even got a couple of QI chargers with built in batterys that are almost the same size as the nexus 5 put one in my pocket next to the nexus 5 and it charges the phone wirelesly in a pocket
Difficult to repair, I will quite happily take something to bits to fix it, if required and the build quality and ease of disassembly is one of the criteria i look at, the 6p is far from simple to disassemble, the other option would have been nexus protect, but thats not available in the UK.
The bending thread, plus seeing the demo uints at car phone warehouse with the same bend/kink round the button
My sim only plan/network/carrier, at the moment i have a sim only plan for £15/month (approx US$21) for that i get, 2,000 minutes, 5,000 texts and completely unrestricted no limits all you can eat/use as much as you like 4g data with unrestricted all you can use 4G tethering, again no limits no restrictions, unsurprisingly my network Three is no longer offering this, and moving customers off this plan onto something else - the nearest equivalent will cost £20 a month ( US$43) and will see my minutes drop from 2,000 to just 200 with 4G/3G tethering capped at 12GB/month ( handset data remains all you can use ) at the moment im still on the sim 15 plan, but for how much longer I dont know, if anything changes it may be worth getting a phone on contract. ( The US carriers probably offer cheaper/more generous deals. )
so for now I'm intending to keep my nexus 5 going a little longer
New stuff wont available until end of march/April in most cases. Plus the price is at its highest when it's first released

[Q] Just bought S7 Edge, still in my return period. Switch to 10 (VZW) for root?

I'm coming from an iPhone so I have no brand/device loyalty, but root/jailbreaking is high priority for me. It doesn't seem like the S7e has any advantages over the 10 besides screen (honestly not the biggest fan of the curved screen anyway). Should I make the switch?

Lol, iPhone 6 Plus here as well. And I can't wait to get rid of this overpriced junk. I can't do crap with IOS like what I can do on Android. #power10 it is.....beside I never fall for S7 or edge when it first release. I'm glad hTC waited.
I returned my s7e today and ordered the 10; I found that unless you have the hands of a giant, you will continually hit the edges and cause miss types/screen jumps. I also couldn't deal with the lack of ad blocker and the DPI was too big, even with the new native scaling. AND I thought the curved edges would be in addition to the screen, but they really occupied about 1/8" on either side.
I agree with everything you said, Rus. I ended up returning it and getting on that pre-order train too!! What whatt

Remember phones bought from Verizon store/online are IMEI blacklisted from using HTCdev. It will probably come with a ton of Verizon bloat. It is also not a guarantee to be able to get root. It could come in a week, or could take a year like the M9.or maybe never. A java card could also possibly work but not a 100% yet. Due your research, only way to guarantee root is by ordering from HTC's website. Just FYI.

Sadly no, only thing that will get you is the uh-oh protection. The unlocked version "might" work on Verizon but we wont know until someone try's it and sees if it has the CDMA radios. On paper with the posted specs it should but in my experience with verizon you may never know. They got the money to bully company like HTC to do what they want. take a read at this forum for more info.http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/help/unlocked-htc-10-verizon-t3357874

I'm coming from an iPhone so I have no brand/device loyalty, but root/jailbreaking is high priority for me. It doesn't seem like the S7e has any advantages over the 10 besides screen (honestly not the biggest fan of the curved screen anyway). Should I make the switch?

Yeah Verizon is the devil. Finally making the switch myself to ATT. I am done with the hoops you have to jump through to get access to the device you own. The Verizon version of the M9 gave quite a bit of trouble to get root but @jcase and the sunshine team finally did it so they may still have a trick up their sleave to get root on the Verizon 10 without using HTVdev to unlock the boot loader. Sadly the only way to 100% guarantee root with Verizon is a nexus. Don't give up home there are a lot of very talented devs on here but sadly its never a guarantee and can take time.
I just did my preorder through VZW. I know the risks as far as maybe not being able to unlock/root., but I just paid off my LG v10 for this because I know HTC, and I will get something going. I hope the great developers from the M8 series are here .
I may be a bit too excited for thursday to get here....

Note 5, s7 Edge or Note 7?

So, I'm due an upgrade. A certain electronics dealer (not sure if it would be against the rules to name them) is running 2 promos: 1) Get a Note 5: get a $250 gift card at time of purchase. 2) Get any of the s7devices (Edge/Note too) and get a free 32" Sammy Smart TV. I don't really need the tv but the mother in law could use it. So, I literally cannot decide which to get. They have pros and cons all around. I'm a trucker, so my concern about the Edge's display is whether the glare along that curve would be annoying or distracting. My wife's s7 hasn't lagged yet, but reviews of both Notes mention lag (precious few reviews of Note 5 after MM update). Most reviews can't call a clear-cut "pick this one." And so, the freebies enter the equation. What do you guys think? I'm sure some of you had the 5. Do you think the 7 is significantly better? That it performs better?
Depends, I have been a note fan for along time. I use the s pen a bunch, and love the 5.7 inch screen size. I would say if you ate a note fan , and use the s pen a lot then go with the note 7. If you don't use the pen the the s7(or edge) would be good. I had the note 5 as my daily phone for a year, it's a solid phone, but the note 7 is better. The IP68 rating is awesome and I take the note 7 everywhere without worry about the weather. The battery performance is soo much better than the note 5 as well. I also was able to get the 256gb SD card for the Note 7 and its been great to be able to have all my music in my phone again. Hope this helps.

Sorry for lateness of reply. I've been testing an s7 Edge and an iPhone 6s+ to see if either is a suitable "upgrade." Can't do the iPhone. It's just too limiting. BUT since the Note 7 is officially done for, is the Note 5 "just as good?" I use the S Pen semi-regularly, but it isn't essential. I can do what I do without it. So I'm down to these 3 phones: s7 Edge which is ok but I'm UNimpressed with its performance. Seriously. I expected better, for some reason. LG v20 which is costly and even the AT&T rep was telling me "I've had literally 10 LG V10s returned in 6 months for manufacturing flaws." I asked her to elaborate and she said "Screen issues. Lines and such." Or the Note 5. If the s7 isn't flawless IMO, then how can a half generation older device be any better? Any input is appreciated.

I think it depends who you ask, and of course what you want to use it for. It isn't a bad device, but to give you an idea, I skipped the Note 5 in favor of my Note 4 at the time because of the removable battery and no SD card. The Note 7 however, was new enough to get me over to the other side and give the "no removable battery" a go (one of the added reasons was also the 256 GB SD card lol).
Right now, my personal options for a new phone are Pixel, V20, S7 Edge or back to my old Note 4 for the time being. And in all honesty, unless I like how the S7 Edge feels within a cover, I'll likely end up with my Note 4 again. I need the space an SD slot can provide me, and well, I'm still kind of hooked to the idea of being able to remove a battery and put a new one in

Like you, I held off on the 5 because of those issues. But I'm not a huge fan of the edges/curves. There's not a case on the market that provides decent protection for it simply due to the design. To make matters worse, Zagg pulled its tempered glass protectors because they weren't staying on. Haven't found one yet that does. Functionally, it's an awful design. It's easily broken. The v20 is an option, but it's really expensive, and I just can't justify that for an LG. They don't deserve it. I've never had luck with LG devices lasting. I'm not even remotely interested in the Pixel, but my Note 4 screen has burn-in. The s7 Edge isn't awful, but I was hoping for more in terms of performance. I may just return this one and get a regular s7.
The closest thing to the note 7 is the note 5.. I'm actually using both of them till I return my note 7..lol
I got the N5 when it came out, i was hesitant about the battery and memory (reason i got the 64gb) but i have had no issues. Im glad i didn't sell it. Its in perfect condition.

Hmm, I think that's a bit the thing. While I have read others saying similar things, I never had any issues with LG Prada that I had when it first came out. I loved that phone at the time.. but granted, it's also the only LG I ever owned so I don't really know for sure how the brand holds up with other models.
I bought an LG TV & Sound plate, and have owned a G2 & Tab 7.0. only the Tab 7 still works. Also, WAAAAY back in the day I had an LG Vu (in the pre-smart phone era). The $200 rebate helps lean me towards it.

There's a rebate on the V20 with ATT? If so, that may just be it for me to get pulled into it.

Hmm... darnit, I wish I didn't destroy a bunch of old smartphones a few months ago. Unsure if there's anything left besides my trusty Note 4... not really feeling like giving that phone up (plus it will get as much if not more when I sell it second hand).. imagine something like the Note 7 debacle happens again lol

Hmm just quickly checked.. still have to Galaxy S's (the first one)... guess I could get rid of those lol

Hmm it seems I have a few more old phones, but they're all older than the S and unsure if they are all qualified to them as "smartphone", I even still have the LG Prada lol
Att charges 830 for the v20 and T-Mobile charges 750. Att is a rip off.

I agree, ATT is a lot more expensive, not just phones but also with the plans. Sadly it's also the only one (together with Verizon, but I want GSM for my trips to Europe so no chance I go to them) that has decent coverage in my state. T-mobile really lacks when it comes to coverage, their customer service isn't that great either in all honesty. The price is right, I agree, if only they had decent coverage then I could live with it I guess.
This might be good for us.

I am thinking of holding on to the note 7 shut it off and use my one plus 3 until the s8 arrives. Then I will exchange for a s7 edge.
I wanted to hold out with my N7 but when they banned them on flights I figured just switch and deal with it...I went with the s7 edge because it was the closest to the N7...I've had it a few weeks now and it's okay. does most of the things the N7 did...I am unhappy with the screen size and do wish I had the stylus...Battery life is similar..But I do feel like I have gone backwards...
I have been calling ATT cust service and my local store trying to convince them to let me get the upgrade when the N8/S8 comes out but they wont...so I'm unhappy I'm locked into this Next contract with a year old phone..
I read Samsung may be doing upgrade offers to the N8 for N7 owners so there is still hope....
This S7 edge is an okay replacement to get us thru but its not a N7....

You're not necessarily locked into it though.. if you have the Next 12, and if you still have several months to go until the 12 months, you could pay forward to get the upgrade. The rules are pretty much saying that it needs to be paid for 12 months, not that you cannot upgrade for 12 months. Meaning, you pay a few months extra (let's say it comes out in august, you would have to pay 2-3 months extra probably). It isn't a favorable option since the phone you're essentially renting from them becomes more expensive to rent, but I have had it confirmed by an ATT rep that this is indeed possible to do.

AT&T Will Let Customers With Replacement Galaxy Note 7s Swap Out Their Devices

Bad news for Samsung keeps on coming
AT&T will allow any of its customers with replacement Samsung Galaxy Note 7 devices to swap them out for a different smartphone, the company tells The Verge. The move follows Sprint's decision to let its customers return replacement Note 7s for a device from a different manufacturer on the heels of a replacement Note 7 catching fire on a plane earlier this week. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission has opened an investigation into the fire.
At this rate it's likely that Verizon and T-Mobile won't be too far behind in offering to swap out replacement Note 7 devices. With the uncertainty around the safety of the Note 7, offering a full exchange is the easiest way to ease the worries of consumers until the CPSC completes its investigation. If you're an AT&T or Sprint customer, you can take your replacement Note 7 back to the carriers' respective retail stores and exchange the devices for another smartphone of your choosing.

Interesting. Not sure what i would do. So far i am enjoying my replacement note 7. If it comes to it i guess i will have to make a decision but i need more info before making that move. Its a shame, Samsung makes good stuff, its unfortunate they are having these issues. We shall see

If the pixel lured me more I would be all over this but it's just meh. Only reason would be for the software and to be honest. touchwiz isn't as bad as I remember it...this is coming from a nexus guy.
I just called AT&T and none of the Reps seem to know anything about this so called return hmmm.

Yeah I also called. The rep put me on hold to do some research on it and read it . It's something all reps doesn't know about yet. You have to the end of the month to do so. I have the option to switch it out to another device or just return it for a free refund. He made sure that was stated on my account for me to not have problems.

Yep, it's probably craziness in the near future for us, all over again. All four carriers are allowing an exchange now, Ihttps://www.google.com/amp/www.theverge.com/platform/amp/circuitbreaker/2016/10/7/13202250/att-samsung-galaxy-note-7-replacement-exchange
I don't see a future with note 7 in hand. I do love the phone., hope it's not recalled again but its not looking good.
At leaset in the next few weeks we will have a few more phone choices...... unlike last month. I am thinking of.jumping to the V20 if a 2nd recall happens
This really sucks because I've fallen in love with my Note 7. There's not even any other phone on AT&T that I would get with the exception of the S7 edge. I'm really hoping this guy turns out to be a scam artist.

I know. I might jump ship. The carrier's have to know something. Since when does AT&T reach out to Android Central to tell them they are also on board with the device turn in.
I feel there is little choice but to change. It's only a matter of time before the next report of a burning replacement and good luck selling this second hand in the future . I will try the v20. I wish I had kept my Note5 and not lost $350 on selling it.

I've been thinking the same thing all day. A CSPC official said in an article that if the phone was a replacement one that there will more than likely be another recall.

and here i am completely unable to even buy a note 7. AT&T keeps telling me no since i opted for the refund instead of a loaner phone. I fumed so much over that.
Not even sure which phone to go with. The Note 7 was the only phone that checked all the boxes. I sold my S7 Edge to get it, and I am not going to go buy another one.
-big screen
-water resistance
-expandable storage
-fast charging
-no on screen buttons
Not necessarily guys, relax. They may be doing this just to cover their own ass. I would like to believe that if anything real serious was known an announcement would be made my Samsung.

I just feel this phone will be at the bottom.of the pile like a non flagship budget. For cases, accessories, updates ect... . Not many people are on board with the note 7, if there is no recall not many will be on board with all the bad press. So why would anyone put any effort or invest money/more products into the note 7. Speaking. Of, we will surely not see a functional.curved glass SP. In my line of work tempered sp is a must. One reason why I may go v20, same.screen real estate as the note 7 but not curved so SP will actually stay on.
The note 7 and bogo deal was the only reason I upgraded and added a phone to my plan. Samsung had no other device I want so now I may get screwed out of the bogo and have to pay more each month than I had originally planned and I can't take back my note 5 now, which I gave to our functioning disabled son
Its absolutely tragic that this is happening. I really wanted this device to be my go to for the next couple of years. Its my first phone since the Note 4 was released and its a beast! I guess in the race to create a flagship like this Samsung has finally cut too many corners. It seems to me that the inherent design of the battery and the chassis just aren't optimal. They should have spent a bit more time on the battery enclosure and possibly reduced the battery capacity slightly to compensate for the tight tolerances. Im not even really sure that would have done anything to help. But anyhow, I think the rest of the community will probably feel the pain. I have already started looking at other devices, leaning (for the first time in 8 years) towards another iPhone. Or I can go to the Pixel xl. Everything other than the Note 7 released this year has been such a let down though.

For sure! Yikes, I believe that steam and heat actually causes the rubber seals to loosen a bit. Its one of the only ways that you can actually get water damage on these devices other than taking them too deep in the water. Sorry bud, Im sure you can still give it back though when/if you decide too. lol
So it's not normal for the loudspeaker to sound like crap after? It seems like it's back to normal now.
