Do I get it right - you just upgraded, have used it some hours and "feel" that the battery is better now?
Is the screen on time better or is the idle better or both?
Which version did you use previously: 570 or 575?
How bad was your battery?
What is your phone usage scenario (what apps and how much do you use AND how much is the phone in idle)?
How long have you used this 291 version?
I really would like to know...

Feel it's better with the latest update usually I get around a day at the most with the previous update with normal use...my opinion it's better with stamina mode

Sadly the stamina mode is not customizable. It' just on or off. You can't change what you want to keep (for example the vibration). Well, f**k.

Stamina doesn't exclude apps optimization. They work together. One is for the hardware, so you lose vibration, screen optimization and so one. The other optimize the usage of the battery from the apps.
But sadly Stamina is not as powerful as it was with Lollipop
Inviato dal mio Z3 Compact con Tapatalk

That's no STAMINA, it's battery saver from L.
It even shows a ****ing permanent notification - JUST LIKE BATTERY SAVER DID.

Good that you posted the screen on time, because without it it's completely irrelevant to show anything.

Hi,
I'm having quite an issue with battery life since I've updated to version 23.5.A.1.291.
I think I know what's causing it though, as I have accepted some prompt that told me that the charging of the battery will be optimized but the battery life will be negatively affected. Does anyone know how I can reverse this setting?? I've searched a lot but can't seem to find it.
Thanks

calling this stamina mode is an insult to people who buy their phones, literally just a re-branded battery saver already built into the phone , extremely pissed off

Thank you both very much. Hopefully the battery life will return to being good again.

Still no reason to update from 5.0.1 huh? Shame.

Hi,
I actually have build 23.5.A.0.575 rooted, if I upgrade will I loose root?

I stil havent seen it in the netherlands

The "new" stamina mode also disables vibration. I usually have only vibration for calls, texts and calendar alarts. If I have stamina mode on the the phone is completly silent without vibration. Makes the feature totally useless for me.

yes, disabling all things that make the phone a smart phone will extend the battery life...but then you may as well have a nokia 7730 (Battery life was a week)

Facebook was the only thing I disabled because of wakelocks, I disabled the others cause I don't use them.
Apologies, I was being mischievous, but it is more than obvious that if you disable all the interactive services you will make the battery live longer, so I don't see the need for a thread giving this as advice..
Normal use (using browser a lot, playing music, Facebook, 4G on) I get 5h+ screen on. This phone is a beast battery department.
My S4 had troubles topping 4h screen on (pacman rom though) don't remember stock roms, but still couldn' possibly beat this.

I don't know what you people are doing, but my Z1 can handle easily 5h screen on and still have 20% or more battery left.
I'm not playing games though... but with phone calls, hangouts, gmail, drive excel editing, Sketch drawings, some google+ and facebook, twitter, pocket, etc plus web browsing with WiFi on I have to really push it so it doesn't last whole day. with normal use it's usually around 2 days untli I have to charge it.
Stamina activates on my phone at 85% battery level, low power mode kicks in at 15%.
Greenify!! The one stop solution for wakelocks that cause battery drain!! You have to be rooted though.
Cheers!!

For information...
I installed the latest c firmware (d in build prop) with LG flash tool (NOT UPGRADE), a CLEAN install.
wiped(factory reset) before flashing, then in flash tool cleared and made a CLEAN install and factory reset after to be safe (3 resets) .
Now I get very few screen misses, and screen on time 4.5 hours.
Before this I got screen on time maximum 2,5 hours.
Just wanted to let you guys/Girls in on this as it worked perfect for me and my wife.

Think I've been around enough to make an accurate judgement, add I'm an recognised developer, I made a hell of a lot of mods and ROM's all developed for two things only battery life with good speed.
You don't have to believe me, what matters is for me, add I got a much better phone.
Hi smaberg,
I was wondering if you are on the Euro 815 version of the G4? Based on your post I'm guessing you are? As a guy who knows what he/she is doing, I was wondering if you could make a flashable zip of the version d firmware? I have a mac and my understanding is you need a pc for the LG flash tool?
Figured I would ask and would greatly appreciate if you could help!!
Do you have the same set of apps installed as you did before the firmware and resets?
I saw better battery results on my second G4 vs my first, some of which I assume was because I installed a lot less apps on the second unit. Which seems reasonable to me.
What device is the OP using?
Sent from my LGLS991 using Tapatalk
I'm on international 815 (Euro).
Still using the exact same apps(didn't use LG backup Restore as it brings back the old draining Barry problem from my old backup).
And NO I can't make an zip, as it would skip some important steps. I mean I can make it, NO problem, but then you will end up with the exact same problem add the old.
hey Smaberg, can you outline the step to flash the new version? I'm using 815, but since i'm residing in Asia, my phone is not seeing any upgrades.
Yeah i also like to get exact steps you made to flash

I know, but compared to before, with only 2 hours, sometimes even less worth stock a and b I'm pretty ☺ happy, now I'm going to deactivate some junk and see the results, and when I'm done I'll share it.
I'm trying to get the best battery without root, then with root and some of mine scripts and files mod. And we'll see where we stand. In the end maybe an ROM pure made for battery as in the old days. If some still want this? I thought/think people mostly want bling bling and speed...

Hi,
I would definitely be interested in a battery life based ROM. I find that premium phones have more than enough power you need (if youre not a gamer) so as long as the UI is smooth battery life is more important to me.
Regards,
Ravi

I'm still testing, but the possible observed bigger battery drain could be due to a new doze management that doesn't allow the processor to reach a deep power saving condition as before so to solve the notification problem when the phone is in standby.

On one Polish Android forum, a few users had battery drain and high mobile data usage with it. It might be responsible. I have it disabled and battery drain is lowered for me from B152.
Also, remember that if a newly installed app is added automatically to the protected app list in the battery manager, it is also added to the Doze exemption list (or rather I think it works that way).
Make sure you go to Settings->Applications->Advanced->Ignore optimizations and exclude the apps you want to be stopped by Doze.

With C432B170 I get only 7-8h SOT with 48h battery runtime. Listen to music for only round about 3h over Bluetooth and 85% of the time using lte. Now I'm testing the C10B172 and here it's the same battery life. On C432B152 with B162 Kernel I had 8-9h SOT with the same lte usage but with 8-10h listen to music.

Good lock battery drain

Yes.. a bit battery drainer and makes my device a bit warmer mostbof the time
Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
There is slight drain, but it's nothing really noticeable.. at least not on the latest version of good lock. I had about 2hr 35min SoT at 54% today with good lock running the entire time.. To put it into perspective, I had about 3 hours of SoT with the normal system UI with 49% left.
Either way, the battery trade off is well worth having a vanilla android UI but with all of Samsung's lovely customisations.

Even if there is, it should be very minuscule that you would hardly notice

The latest version of Good Lock does not constantly prompt location, which is why I installed it and ran it for a bit. The first version did, and that's why I uninstalled it. But since I've decided to root and use Xposed modules, I'm back at the normal system UI.
What issue caused you to uninstall it? I'm rather curious.
any possible way to show icon labels for wifi bluetooth, location ect... in the pull down menue
Seems to consistently take about 4% off my battery. Haven't decided if that's enough to really care. Really like the lock screen.
It took over 15% of my battery (no location enabled, just "everywhere"). It was next under the screen in battery stats. Needless to say I uninstalled it because of that only. Otherwise I kind of liked it except for the multitasking.

I've seen a little bit of battery drain but I get an entire day out of my phone so I'm not worried about it. Never as much as you say though. Maybe uninstall and reinstall it. I love the new UI. Also HUGE update came out today
I think that the battery usage is dependent on the number of routines that you run. I personally just set up the default routine to my liking and don't have any others set up and Goodlock typically stays under 5% usage.

It breaks the apn hotspot trick
I have my apn modified and the update did not break it. I meant the 'restart' method

The wifi calling does work better which was one fix on the update

Is there a way to disable the software update? It keeps popping up on my notification bar.

I did with this. No root required

And disable these
I noticed with the newest update notification tones are significantly louder while using headphones and are unaffected by the sound level settings.
Edit: Also, notifications on lock screen auto-clearing upon turning phone screen on.

I wish. I accidentally took mine a few days ago. Was walking through LA at night, pulled my phone out to check directions, and it was 10% deep into it. I was so pissed, and it was like an hour before I could use my phone again.
Thanks. This works, well worth the buck.

Can this be a bad thing? What if you turn the screen on to check time or something, and then the notifications disappears without you even glancing at it?
