T-Mobile has a an update status page for devices. - Xperia Z3 General

In case people did not know, T-Mobile has an update status page for Android devices. You can see how far along the 5.0 update has come for your device. It was mentioned on Phonearena.
https://support.t-mobile.com/community/phones-tablets-devices/software-updates#tmoSUPDocTitle

Bit pointless for this section, as there's no Z3...

It means Sony has not updated TMO with the info yet. That is understandable considering the international models don't even have a test version according to PTRCB. Once it's in testing (for TMO version: D6616) it will be listed.
Since you have the international version you will probably get it much earlier than us.

The Z1/Z3 are finally mentioned, status shows as "Manufacturer Development".

Now Z1s and Z3 in 2nd stage.

Yep. Seems like a long wait..

Looks like bad news for the Z3, they are saying update is "Months" away not weeks.

Same here. Sony and T-Mobile are probably sad that this phone is now rooted lol I'm surprised that they tried very hard to block people from rooting it but screw them!

Root alone won't let you update to a generic 5.0.2 ROM though. Still need to unlock the bootloader.

No you do not. You can have root on a Sony lollipop rom with a locked bootloader.
However, if you mean CM or AOSP etc, then you always need an unlocked bootloader for that

If you have recovery you can create a pre-rooted flashable zip from a lollipop FTF for your device and flash it.

thanks. i found some rooms that have pre-rooted, such as [D66XX]{5.0.2} Flashable stock Lollipop pre-rooted collection & XZ dualrecovery

I assume that wifi calling will be lost with an international ROM. How about HD voice?

Unlocking bootloaders has nothing to do with Flashtool. But yes, as long as you don't unlock your bootloader you can pretty much do whatever you want.
We're talking about flashing with flashtool, but how many people that own the phone never heard/went on XDA how many of them never heard of flashtool. All of those people rely on their operators to push updates.

That's right. Before flashing anything to your phone, it's always a good idea to create a backup of the original firmware customization, so that you can easily restore your phone to factory state if required, especially if it's difficult to find an FTF file online with your customization.
Luckily, there is also a way to return to your original customization without FTF file, but it requires a rooted phone with a locked bootloader:
[GUIDE] Download ANY firmware customization with SUS and create an FTF with Flashtool

As usual chat support doesn't know diddly, because I received all the lollipop OTAs while being rooted.
You just can't install them while rooted though. So revert to your pre-root backup (YOU BACKED UP YOUR /SYSTEM BEFORE ROOTING, RIGHT??!??) and then install the OTA.

But here you missed the GOLDEN CHANCE TO HUMILIATE them! I would have typed this, >>>> "LIKE WE DO CARE? HA HA HA! Thats not always true. The update installer can easily trace the status of UNLOCKED bootloader and may refuse to install. Thats mostly possible. So dont just under-estimate. Update procedures can also recognize the rooted phone status and reject to install.
Does not matter if one unlocked/rooted phone gets next update, most people here on xda will have within few hours.

I could not find one thing I prefer on lollipop over 4.4.4.
For those of us in the US, will we likely get the update around the same time as the India rollout? Since there is no carrier specific z3 compact, we shouldn't have to wait for the carriers to make their own?

It is not a great idea to upgrade via official OTA if you are not on stock recovery (which - I think - is not your case, since I assume you are rooted on latest fw).
To make sure to keep root privileges, just wait for somebody here at xda-developers to release a pre-rooted firmware based on the official OTA, or if you are able to, build it yourself.
We have just to wait a few more days, hopefully!

The main difference between the 5833 and 5803 is the lte bands. The 5833 is a TD-LTE model while the 5803 is a LTE A model. In India, airtel offers TD LTE, hence the TD LTE model for India.

Thats great then.
But if we do it, will we get the OTA update for the 5833 when they will be released?
Or probably we would need to flash them once they are out just as we are about to do now.
Not that much of a big deal in my opinion if we are doing that in the first place.
Sony is delaying it so much and if they are no issues as everyone is confirming, i think its the way to go.
Thanks for your inputs guys.
Off to flashing.

No Indian lollipop yet right? Z2 in India has the update but no luck for us. Probably a good thing. I spoke to Sony India who said Indian z3c will stay on Kitkat due to network issues.
Just came this morning

My bad. The Sony service center folks don't know anything

Lollipop now live & available for Xperia Z2 ?!!

Hi every one,
I checked Xperia Z2 updates on XperiFirm and i found the latest firmware 23.1.A.0.690 for Lollipop update available now
I don't know to download it and flash on my device or not?!!
so please notify me
Thank you.
1. Click the version you want from the right.
2. Download it (have "automaticly unpack" checked)
3. When it is done downloading, open flashtool.
4. Click tools-->Bundles-->Create
5. Select the folder where you downloaded from Xperia Firmwares. Double click the device section and chose Z2. In branding, type the country it is for and in version type 23.1.A.0.690. In the "Folder list", select all EXCEPT the .ta files and move them over to "Firmware content" with the arrows.
6. Press create.
7. When it is done, you will have a .ftf file and a .torrent file in your flashtool firmware folder. Flash the .ftf file to your phone
If I explained it bad, here is a link to another tutorial: http://www.xperiablog.net/2014/08/1...re-files-using-xperifirm-and-flashtool-guide/
Or you can just wait for the OTA update
Edit: I realized now that the update also is avaliable on Sony PC Companion, so just plug your phone into your computer and update from there
oky ty i downloading now and will flash it

Phone does not need to be unlocked to flash ftf files. I'm in Canada as well with Fido. The z2 was a bell exclusive in Canada, so I bought my z2 from a Sony store. The only differences between our devices is the firmware were running, and the fact that your device has a locked bootloader and most likely network locked to Bell as well. Flashing ftf files to change your firmware has nothing to do with unlocking the bootloader, or network unlocking your phone, so you're good there. If you flash the lollipop update Nordic ftf file, your bootloader will still be locked, and your device will still be network locked to Bell.
That being said, I haven't yet flashed any other regions firmwares on my phone, as I haven't had to up to this point. So I can't guarantee personally that absolutely everything will work 100% without bugs. Some people say other regions firmwares might have minor differences with the modem, etc, but most people here on XDA will tell you it's perfectly safe to do so.
Keep in mind this may void your warranty with Bell, I'm not sure. Check with them first. However, it will not void your warranty with Sony as you don't have to root or unlock the bootloader to flash an ftf file.
If it does not void your warranty with Bell, you can either flash this Nordic lollipop update, or wait for the North American unbranded update to roll out if you want to play it safe. Then your updates will come straight from Sony, rather than Bell.
Edit: After reading Sony's warranty policy, it would potentially void your warranty. But then you could just flash the Bell Canada ftf file to bring your device back to its warranted state.
Ok can I flash these files from a macbookk

I am not aware of how different moto g3 is from moto g2 development! but in G2 I could relock the bootloader! actually you can! but note that relocking the bootloader will help you a full proof to get an OTA! but won't give you your warranty back!
BTW! Happy new year 2016 folks!
Locked bootloader not required for OTA update
Locked bootloader is not required for successful OTA update.
It is essential to ensure correct finger print of the system which means unrooted stock firmware, stock recovery. Flashing stock firmware procedure is provided in a different thread. Be careful to flash firmware made for your device.
Any one got update ?
I doubt whether Motorola has started MM roll out or not as no one reported getting update :/
Update has not been arrived yet.
