(Another) Design Flaw? - T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 General

I'm not sure it it's just my unit, but I find that the volume rocker button is just a bit loose. To the point where if I move back and forth it the right way it'll make a faint clicking noise. I'm not sure if this is a design flaw, but my power button is quite snug in place and doesn't move at all. Does anyone else have a loose volume rocker? I'll be heading to Best Buy today to compare with the demo units and depending upon my results I might have Tmo send me a replacement. It's a small issue and will most likely go away with a case, but I want my device to be perfect.

Send it back
NOTE 4

mine feels very solid

Why would you open to threads with same issue. Only thing that is gonna happen is pissing off mod who has to clean it up.
NOTE 4

I was getting zero responses on the Q&A section and after spending $800 on a phone I'd like to gauge people before I send it back.

Perhaps no one is having this issue.

Regardless, it was just my device. Went to Best Buy and all of the demo units were solidly built. T Mobile is shipping me a new one free of charge.

Not meaning to nitpick, but that is a manufacturing flaw, not a design flaw. I've had it up to here with the 'gapgate' nonsense, I didn't know what to expect when I saw your post. I'm glad you sent it back, they can afford to give us all what we pay good money for!

I am trading mine in tomorrow because there is a bump in my trim on the right side that looks like crap. Also I just noticed my volume rocker is loose as well.

Honestly I think it depends on the batch your unit comes from. Hopefully our replacements will be perfect.

asus rma compensation?

so i sent my tablet in 3 consecutive times in the last month to fix a screen lift, which turned into more screen lift, then broken touchscreen, it is in for the third time right now and my tablet has devalued quite a lot(since the new 32gb variant came out)
does asus offer any kind of compensation for this? even if its like a tiny extended warranty(i mean seriously, when does a normal RMA last for a whole month and 3 consecutive times..)
does anyone have any experience with this? should i be asking them for a refund now(since theyve had my tablet in for 2 weeks since it got into their hands this time, it's just been sitting there waiting for new parts)
Haha no I highly doubt you will get any compensation.

im pretty determined, already made a post on their facebook asking whether or not they offer this sort of thing... will update when they respond(if at all)
since it isnt exactly my fault that their repair center was so incompetent that i have to send the same thing back 3 times in a row to get it fixed(and im not even sure if it'll get fixed when it gets back to me)
Ask for a refund...or tell them to give you a free upgrade. Can't hurt to try. 3 returns for same problem is ridiculous.

posted a little something for them on their facebook, hopefully ill get a reply on monday $
and yes..it was very annoying especially because their reps hangs up on me alot...on top of that i have to ask for a label and wait several days(if not an entire week) for shipping label(only after the first rma)...
its in for the third rma right now and im hoping they will fix it this time-.-(2 weeks since when it got in, theyre waiting for parts apparently)
These companies deal with thousands of RMAs every year. No offense but one person crying about it isn't going to get you any money.

What makes you think that? That's why they have customer service...much bigger companies with more products listen to their customers. If everyone thought. Like you these companies would.**** all over consumers. They are wrong and they should do something for him.

Not saying he will but its worth a shot. I've received things from companies when they screwed up. I had a heated seat short out in my BMW. Had to wait 3 weeks for a seat from Germany. Car was driveable but I coukdnt adjust my seat. Not a big deal at all. They paid my lease for the month. I have a few other stories like that and know plenty of people that have been treated fairly. Ever heard the saying "the squeaky wheel gets oiled"
Doing something would also include giving a refund. I'm not saying just pay him money. Return, free upgrade to 32gb, even a free case.

(Q) Nexus 7 broken screen. Warranty!

Hi guys I want to make a question. Today I saw the screen of my tablet broken in the side as you cab see in the photos. This didn't happen from dropping or press on it. It doesn't have signs of drop either. The tablet is full functional only this corner don't work. I want to ask if I can claim free repair from Asus because it's not my fault. The tablet is 15 days old and this happen by itself.
Thanks in advance

First of all, don't bump your thread so soon. Only bump if you've had no reply in 24 hours.
Now to answer your question, the only way you'll truly know is by asking them. Different situations are different so no one could really tell you.
Oh sorry about that. I wanted some opinions before I call. Anyway now the Asus support line is closed until Monday I think. I mean is it possible to replace it free or they don't change broken screen's no matter what?
Thanks for the fast reply and sorry again

I think they may do depending on the situation.
You'll just have to explain everything to them and hope for the best really.

generally a broken screen would be considered physical damage, which the warranty wouldnt cover. it would be very hard to prove that the screen broke all by itself, the weight of the proof would be on you. the only thing that might save you is getting the right customer service representative that is sympathetic to your cause. be very nice to them when you call.
Asus says it's not covered by warranty and the price to fix it is 150 €. So I'm going to buy new lcd+digitizer from eShop. Anyone knows were I can find it cheap?

Quite honestly, most just end up replacing the entire tablet because of the disproportionately high price for the LCD/digitizer.

This happened to me. Hit power button and screen cracked from middle left to bottom right. Its on itsway to Asus right now.
It had some screen lift on the left, but never bothered me. I can't help but think that's what caused it.

[Q] RMA for the nexus 4

Is RMA like swapping out a faulty device for a new one through Google? How does it work? If my screen just one day doesn't turn on after having the phone for 6 months will they replace it for free? Do they send you a new device then you send your faulty one back? Or vice versa?

OK. In the UK, you ring Google Play, they send you an email with an RMA attachment and create a special order for you in your google wallet. You then order your new device and they take an authorisation on your card (they dont actually take the money, just "allocate" it to them, should you not return your faulty device), then they send you a new device and you send your old faulty one back to them within 21 days using their free TNT service that comes in the bag with your new replacement device.
So...
1) Ring google, they give you RMA attachment to print out
2) Order your device through the special order they have set up for you
3) Ensure you have a card with money on it so they can allocate it as security
4) When new device arrives, you have 21 days to return the old one to them (with the RMA you printed off in step 1) or they will take the allocated money off your card.
Hope it helps

No problem mate
EDIT: I should add that they will allocate the full cost of the handset until they receive the old one back. Then they will release that "hold" on that amount within 14 days (In reality they have released the hold on all three of my RMA devices before they even received the device back)
If you have got a cracked back for example, they will still exchange it, but they will bill you the cost of the smashed glass back.
Little chips and scratches they are not bothered about as the phones go to be refurbed, so as long as the back and front are "unsmashed" you will get all your money no sweat.

No, my USB port was acting faulty on the one I have now.
^ Fair enough.. I am shocked to see they are replacing the device even after 6 months of ownership to the customer. Seems like that 15 day return policy turned into 1 year return policy after their disastrous launch!

Are you sure it's void? There is a manufacturer warranty of 1 year and the Note 3 hasn't been out for a full year yet and if there isn't a nearby Samsung store you can always just mail it but expect to wait 3-4 for weeks for a new Note 3.
Your probably just better off waiting for the Note 4 to come out since it isn't really a serious problem, you could always cover it with a case too.

I read your thread and decided to check mine. It looks like there's a thin line right above the spen. But it's so straight it actually looks like a seam and like it belongs there.

If a hardware manufacturer can void a warranty for physical external faults all because of the software you use. Sounds to me that your countries laws need a little poking.
Here in Australia, root or no root, we would get it repaired under warranty.
Actually, talking about bezel, my bezel developed a crack under the volume rocker, never dropped and always in a case, my Note should be perfect, but it appears the mechanical use of the volume control has somehow damaged the bezel. Poor design? I know my local retailer will get it fixed (they told me they will), I just don't want to be without my phone for 2 weeks, will get my spare Note1 (loaned out) back soon and then the Note3 can go to the doctors.

On dark backgrounds or pages, sort of low on the screen, I always see a blueish blob apart from the rest of the screen. I've read that could be from pressure but I'm not very sure.. Any ideas? It's fairly annoying.

For me it's always there and it's a deal breaker. I've not heard about many others having this issue so I'm sure it's scant among devices but I'm worried about a refurbished phone having issues. But I'm gonna try calling and see what I can do. Do you have the regular manufacturer warranty or Moto Care?

Regular warranty and I "resolved" it in 10 minutes via a chat session. I just explained the issue and they offered me a replacement right away. I paid $25 for expedited replacement which entails them sending me a refurbished (shipped in 5-6 days) with a $300 hold on my CC and then I have 5 days to return busted phone. That was on the night of the 20th. I'm giving them the benefit of business days and the weekend and hopefully it ships within a few days. I too am Leary of a refurbished phone.

I never got around to calling but, tomorrow I will call, hopefully I'll be able to get a refurbished device. If it at least works as a supposed to, refurbished shouldn't be that bad.

No it shouldn't be at all. In another thread I posted that I had 2 LG G4's in a row with radio issues that left a bad taste in my mouth.

Question - was yours previously rooted before sending it in? I don't know if having an unlocked bootloader can screw with warranty claims but if you know, that'd be really helpful
