Remove SIM? - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So maybe I am just dumb. But how does the SIM card come out? On the Note 2, you would push it in until it retracted. On this device it seems there is no give when I try that.
*EDIT*
Eh, eventually got it out. Had to have someone with longer nails pull at it. Kind of a pain.

strange i was pushing up on it too as per all the directions I saw online. also I noticed that the sd card doesnt click in either like on other phones. ok thanks for this Ill just leave it in

I swapped the note 3 with my unlimted data phone. I could not get the sim out i just said screw it and verizon was still able to switch me over without swapping the sim

Yeah, the SIM is not spring loaded. You'll have to use long finger nails or tape over the end to pull it out.

I used an Xacto knife

Use corner of sticky note or scotch tape on SIM and lightly put finger on top as you pull out.

I used tweezers.

Wish I would have thought of that earlier.
I've got long enough nails to get a hold of stuff, but couldn't get that thing out for the life of me. lol
Eventually got it and put my unlimited data sim in.

Guys, theres a tool in the box to remove the sim.
But tape works good when the tool isn't available

Trackball Screwy

Yesterday afternoon the trackball on my N1 stopped working. it'll scroll everywhere but left. Nothing obviously wrong with it, just wont go. thought i'd give it a minute, push and play with it, see if something gives, but no dice. This morning I called HTC, no questions about bootloader which should not affect a hardware issue anyway. Having a replacement sent today.
Now I'll send this phone back, and they will assumably examine and test it. I would agree with any non-hardware issues being rejected due to unlocked bootloader, however if they contact me and say they will not cover the trackball because of this, I will bite the bullet and pay for the repair or replacement, and won't even be pissy about it. I'm just curious what HTC will do, being as this is obviously a hardware issue which unlocking cannot affect.
Seems 50/50 whether they will cover it or not really.
i had a h/w issue and an unlocked bootloader and they still charged me $55 for a replacement
good luck
As of yesterday my trackball has started being annoying, has trouble scrolling downwards, though is not completely broken. I am reluctant to do an exchange, because mine is a special import and has an unlocked bootloader.
Do you have the number for US HTC anyway?

How long did you have the phone before it got to this point? Also were you careful with the phone or (trying to find the words) a little wreckless? Just curious..

no just curious because I myself am looking into buying this phone. I don't want to repeat someone else's mistakes (if there are any mistakes at all). Not related to this but i've heard plenty of times where someone has said "if I was a little more careful, this wouldn't have happend". I'm trying to find a bunch of those situations so I don't fall for them. Thats it..

i have that as well on cyanogen 506. honestly it should be fine.
if it sticks, clean the ball with a very miniscule amount of alcohol, it'll break the dirt down and youll be good to go. or just dont think about it everytime you touch it (i used to be that way and now im better off. ha)
oh and a friendly tip.
EVERYTIME you're done using the TB, WIPE IT ON YOUR SHIRT or something cloth. thats the best way to clean it. up and down on your shirt. side to side even too

Needless to say I think i've heard every problem you could possibly have with this phone happen. From the screen cracking from a 1 foot drop to the camera app not working, to this post. However, I'm going with the n1 anyway. I'm sure that for every bad nexus one, theres 1,999 good ones. Anyway the only thing I need help with is finding a good case that will prevent damage because I have been known for dropping my phone alot.
My friends have told me to go with the "seidio innocase II" and others have said get a crystal silicone case. What do you recommend?

I've had it since release. I ordered it about 30 minutes after the google.com/phone site was up and running. I am always careful with my devices, and use cases and protectors. My phone has never been dropped or mishandled. By way of example, I also got my G1 on release day, and when i got my nexus I was able to sell it on Ebay for $250 with a review about the immaculate condition of the phone he had received. He said it looked like it just came out of the original box.
I hold babies with less precision and attention.
Easy fix
I had the same problem but mine wouldn't scroll down. After getting the run-around on the phone from HTC, I tried to fix it myself. It took less than 10 seconds.
Just grab the ball using your finger nails or something similar, and twist the ball a little bit. it'll loosen up built up dirt and oil on the sensors, and viola! You should be able to scroll again. If not, then you need a replacement.

You know, I would try this if the replacement hadn't been delivered to my doorstep like 5 minutes ago. Downside = I suppose I will need to run stock for a few weeks in case they refuse to accept the return because of the bootloader. Will make me appreciate devs all the more.

My HTC One broke and injured me

This is to share my experiences with the HTC One and hopefully prevent other users from injuring themselves.
When I received my HTC One I was so excited, I naturally tried to put my SIM card into the One. This is my first problem with the One. None of the openings seem to fit for the SIM card!
The opening at the bottom is too small. At first I thought this is because my SIM card is not a micro SIM card, so I started cutting the plastic around the SIM card until it fits in. But it still wouldn't fit! Now I have butchered my SIM card and I don't think it will work anymore because I had to cut a piece of the metal, and still it doesn't fit.
So I figured after a while that you have to open the phone! I am very disappointed this phone because one of the main selling point was that you can't remove the battery because it has no gaps. What they don't tell you is that you have to open it to put the SIM card.
Now I tried to open the damn thing and the aluminium is so sharp that my skin started bleeding. I don't know if this was a defect unit, but the aluminium on this device is so sharp that holding the device hurts. So far I have only managed to unmount the top speaker cover. I saw that there was a tiny opening so I figured this is where the SD card fits. It isn't! Not only is there no SIM card slot there, but the speaker cover won't go back into place.
So I am now left with a butchered SIM card because this damn no gap construction of HTC and a cut on my finger to open the damn thing and a speaker cover that I can put back into place. Thank you HTC but I think plastic is safer.
Since it does not have fruity logo on the back, German courts will put temporary injunction on this product early in the morning.

G900v: Replacing the Charging Port Questions

Hello!
Lately, my G900V is on the frits... poor cell phone service / reception... and the charging port is damaged. I can charge the phone but only if I slide the charger in just right... and set it down perfectly. I lost the charging port cover within a month of owning it and clearly this was a mistake to not replace.
Anyways, I really don't need a phone with more power than the S5. I rarely use my phone anyhow now that I work from phone and would like to simply attempt a repair before getting a new one. I have plenty of PC building, keyboard modding, soldering experience and so on. It really doesn't seem hard.
Will this part be fine to use on the G900V? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-Gal...nnector-USB-Port-Flex-Cable-USA-/181409293678
It says it's for a different model but I imagine this portion of the phone is identical to other models. Maybe I'm wrong.
I have the tools required for the job, minus a heat gun. I imagine I could get it done with a blow dryer.
Anyways, I could use words of encouragement or suggestions before moving forward. Let me know if there's anything special I should pick up, tips, etc.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KLWUPlHITA8 --- I plan to follow this guide.
Thank you,

Both Sims & SD Card Simultaneously?

So here is the AXON Sim Tray.
View attachment 3792627
It looks like it is either SD Card or Sim Card and not both at the same time with the way the slot works. (People who have it can confirm whether or not it's true.) But I have a theory of how to get both at the same time.
View attachment 3792628
With the above photo, you can see that I took the sim card out of they plastic using a hair dryer, some scissors to cut the edges off, & a knife to separate it from the plastic.
View attachment 3792629
We can then take the card & attach it to the back of the SD card. Theoretically it should be able to read all 3 cards at the same time. The pins are clearly visible for the SD Card and both sim cards when in the slot. I'm in the US so I won't be able to test my theory out until it launches here, if someone wants to try it and report back that would be awesome! I'll end up getting this phone regardless, but if this works it'd just be icing on the cake!
Edit: Thanks to 'jkuczera' we have a couple videos for you to see it.
We have confirmation that the mod works for the Axon 7 guys! 2 Sim cards & an SD card!

Wow, nice idea! I thought about opening the phone and see if there's room inside to move the contacts for the second SIM card to a different place, maybe with flat cables, but in this case, the second SIM wouldn't be replaceable on the fly.
How thick is the disassembled SIM card? Is the chip flat enough to minimize the pressure on both cards? I think about if we have to worry about both SIM and SD card getting damaged.
hmm...damn didn't know about that Slot when i preorderet one...
But this hack is awesome as hell! i think i gonna do it when i got the phone and some reports, that this truly will work.
I'd be worried about this getting stuck in the phone if I tried it

I thought about using double sided tape but it would really need to be thin. The great thing about the hot glue is it can be removed cleanly and won't stick to the inside of the phone.
I haven't had any problems yet and I anticipate the phone would be in pretty bad shape if it received the force required to dislodge the SIM card.

Dual Sim + Micro SD for Galaxy S8

Hi, Guys
Planning to get my Galaxy S8. I'm upgrading from Galaxy S7.
I'm a bit concern regarding the possibility of having Dual Sim + Mirco SD capability on Galaxy S8.
Can someone confirm if this is feasible on Galaxy S8 as well?
Thanks,

Nice, can you post the method you used? There are few different videos on youtube. Did you cut the plastic from the tray or removed the plastic from sim and paste it on back of card? Did you had to trim the card too or not?
Can you show how you did it?
Fail to do it..
Hi, thank you for sharing that you have succeeded on dual sim + sd card.
I have try my own and fail to do it.. I try to use sandpaper and thin the front part of the sd card, FAIL!! The sd card is unreadable.. better don't try anything like that.
Compare to S7 edge it's completly different, S7 edge is much easier to do as Samsung S8 sd card slot is very tight and limited space. That's why I am so curious how you succeeded on that, we all are very curious.
I was hoping that you can share with us how you succeed on dual sim + sd card.
Looking forward for the sharing.. maybe, just a suggestion that you can post on youtube as there are none yet showing how to do. You might get hundreds maybe thousands of like and thanks.
never try thinning ur mSD card using sandpaper or any method especially bottom (back) side as it contains very sensitive tiny circuits. my 128GB samsung evo+ damaged due to this.

From what I understand, you can scrape off the edge on the micro sd that's supposed to help give a grip to pull it out. Then scrape the top part till the lettering is gone. From what I was told, this should give just enough headroom for both the sd and SIM.
