[Q]confuse between buy s4 snapdragon 600 & exynos 5 octa - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What u think I should buy s4 with snapdragon or exynos ...which the best ?and I read about 4G supported only by snapdragon..and snapdragon drain fast the battery & the phone become hot sometime
But but snapdragon have fast prossesser 1.9 than exynos which is 1.2 / 1.6... is all that true ?
Advice plez to buy one

Get whatever is available in your country. If you ask me, I would love to get my hands on the Exynos. We only got the Snapdragons.
And why are you still stuck in the days where higher clock meant faster processor??

In my country I can get both so I don't know which one I should choosed ... so I wanna diffrent between two phone
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium

Man... you are lucky! If you want the LTE and LTE speeds while browsing, then the choice has to be SD600. Otherwise Exynos. If you just strip it down to just the hardware, i would say the Exynos.

Thanks bro .... so what i get r exynos best in hardware stronge & faster but not support lte 4G
One more question .. what about phone memory 16 / 32
Is there a problam in space if I buy 16 gb or I should wait for 32 gb
I think after rooting I can put my data in ext-sdcard so space not big problam... What do you think?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium

The SD600 also gets better dev support, so it would have a wider range of support.
For me, i would just for the 16GB and put in an SD card, no point spending a bomb just to get the 32GB version.

I am in the same situation of you. These days, all I did is to gather all information of these two model. Here are my conclusion:
S4 I9500 Exynos 5:
+Excellent CPU.
+Excellent Sound chipset.
- Not support 4G
- GPU less performs worth than Adreno 320 (in game and in benchmarks)
- Expensive(in my country, since I should import the octa core one)
S4 I9505 Snapdragon 600:
+Better GPU
+Support 4G
- sound chipset sounds worth than I9500 Wolfson
-Cpu performs worth than Exynos 5
So I still don't know which one should I get...Samsung is annoying by releasing two differnet models...They know how to make geeks nervous...

dual core s4+2gb ram or quad core+1gb ram

so confused...VOTE!
They finally released 2GB version! My prayers are heard!
http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/30/canadian-carriers-put-galaxy-s-iii-launch-on-june-20th/
2gb is a must required for smoother user experience like the international variants as the s4 uses more memory than exynos quad. apart from that not much of a difference on that part.
so its upto the users to decide, apart from the ram which soc is better? s4 or exynos quad

both of them are on par on performance with one winning the others in few test, you will absolutely note no difference in performance.

What makes you say that S4 uses more memory? Both of them don't have dedicated graphics memory like the Tegra3 so they both need to use system ram. The rest is upto the OS, the SoC has nothing to do with it.
I'd pick the dual-core, 4g LTE (and DC-HSPA on 3g which the quad-core doesn't have), 2gb ram and it's not even close.
- Similar performance
- Super fast 4g speeds
- Much faster 3g speeds thanks to DC-HSPA
- 2gb ram means less app killing to make more room for other apps which leads to smoother - more fluid UI experience
I have no idea why people would want the quad-core exynos, other than the fact that it's been released.
S4/Krait : (+) newer architecture, not exactly A15, but comparable. Good battery life. If you use LTE, I think it has integrated LTE radios.
Quad-Exynos: (+) Powerful GPU, I would believe that Samsung can optimize their software much better for Exynos compared to S4. Decent battery life. I read that they modified the architecture with options like 128-bit internal bus which is not available in other A9's.
2GB RAM to probably offset the extra memory used by S4 as we saw in the case AT&T HOX multitasking issue.
Decision is yours.

Tegra 3 sucks compared to S4 but exynos is way better than Tegra 3. I would say exynos is the best currently. I'm not sure if there will be too much advantage to gain with 2gb ram. The one advantage the s4 will have over exynos is battery life.
How many of the people who are saying that s4 plus 2gb is not good actually have an option to buy it? Only guys in US who have option to go with either of the two will give you right answer.
Im going with exynos quadcore... Do i think s4 plus 2gb plus lte is better in terms of hardware? definitely yes. Then why am i getting exynos? I want 10bucks unlimited data which will be available only with the unbranded phone. And international phone will have better developer support.
Im positive that s4 version will be super fluid if you choose to go for it though. I think i have made my decision that ill will get international version for my own reasons.

Your only valid point is 4G, oh well.....I will have to make do with "only" 42mB/s on DC-HSPA....yes we will have it in Sweden on the Quad core.
2GB RAM is meaningless.
Definitely getting the S4 version as soon as it hits AT&T. I hope it has the Wolfson DAC... but I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't.

2gb ram means faster more fluid multitasking due to Android not having to kill/reload so many apps when you run multiple things. Won't see crap like the launcher having to reload because you opened a few apps for a while. It leads to better user experience.
And how is Snapdragon S4 vs Exynos 4412 performance not similar? From benchmarks I've seen they're both extremely comparable: http://www.anandtech.com/show/5810/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-performance-preview
I don't live in Sweden, so our Exynos variant doesn't have DC-HSPA......yet another reason not to waste money on that variant.
They're both good combinations and offer interesting points for technical comparison. My bet is that real world use on both is very fluid. Both are better than Tegra 3 anyways.

Quad with 2Gb..?
Thread to thread in super Pi the S4 is just 18% faster, so it will shine a bit in a dual core scenario but will be crushed by the Exynos otherwise (4 threads).
Then the GPU of the Exynos is a lot better (S4 GPU is in the range of the SGS2) and battery drain seem comparable between the 2.
Given an option I will go for S4 (Krait) + 2GB but sadly my part of the geographical location I will get only the Quad core one
Wish they went with adreno 320 and s4 quad like thar stupid looking leaked lg phone.

If you have LTE in your area get the 2.gb if not get the quad. Hspa + isn't exactly slow, just not comparable to LTE

I think the decision would make it way more easy for me if there was at least a launch date in US and for AT&T specifically. But it could be fall yet before it actually makes it debut here and also depends on which carrier launches first etc.. etc...
I have the International ordered and still may cancel it if this low stock fiasco doesn't end soon... and wait to see how the US launches unfold. I'm also interested to see real life comparisons of performance between these 2 variants..

[Q] Galaxy s4 CPU, music and more

B) another question: the octa core version supports 4G LTE doesnt it? or snapdragon has better 4G support?
Snapdragon 600 (1.9ghz speed, 4 cores) or Exynos 5 Octa(4 cores A15, clocked at 1.6ghz+ 4 cores 1.2GHZ A7)
1) what is faster? exynos or snapdragon?
2) which one is more effectively? (battery friendly)? (***in both high-huge use and low-idle use.. in which one battery life are better)
3) there are any benchmarks test for both of them.?
i just dont know which one is better..
Adreno 320 GPU vs PowerVR SGX 544MP3
4) which one is stronger?
5) i really dont know which version should i get.. US version(with 1.9ghz) or international(1.6ghz) their performance are really similar?
6) there is any stronger smartphone out now?
6) will the galaxy s4 have wireless charging?
MUSIC:
7) what about music? is there any quality speakers?
8) headphone will be HD/ very good quality.. ? (like in iPhone 5)?
8)
1) the snapdragon is over clocked so is supposed to be faster in cpu but the exynos won't lack behind.
2) for battery of course the exynos since only 4 cores will be running so if ur doing a low use the A7 will be running which are great for battery life and when you kick it to high use that's when the bug guns A15 come in play.
3)for the exynos no because it is not available yet but for the snapdragon it got the twice score of an iphone 5 so that gives a clear answer.
4)i think that would go to the powerVr since the exynos version is expected to be better in Gpu.
5)that depends on you.
6)of course it will but will be optional.
7) the speakers are supposed to be good than the previous models.
8) i am not sure about that but even if they aren't there are always beats.
hope i gave you a clear answer and if there is anything else you would like to know let me know.

thanks for taking your time for answering me
do you think exyons 5 will be overclock-able? i hope we will be able to get 1.8ghz or something without losing battery life or something..
yes i think after rooting and few kernel releases you will be able to overclock the Cpu and maybe also the Gpu but why would you need that the exynos on the galaxy s4 is already going to be a beast and it's expected to be in par with the snapdragon and also your welcome
Actually the Exynos is better in every aspect (battery speed and gpu) clock speeds don't mean anything a15s are faster than krait fullstop
S4 INFO
re
4 core?, I guess its Octo-core Exynos
Well unless you don't use both of them, you can't figure out which one is better.
May be someone may use and let us know.
well even if the exynos is better in every aspect the biggest advantage would still be low task using so its battery saving so everything else is probably the same or little difference and what do you mean clock speeds don't mean anything ?? have you seen the benchmark difference between the galaxy s4 and the htc one ?? and i know the A155 are better than krait that's why the snapdragon is overclocked
@samsingh02 it is octa core but like 4+4 so the 8 cores will never function together it would be like A7 for the low tasks and the A15 when you are on a heavy task like gaming
anyway the thing is the snapdragon is for 4G network and the exynos for the 3G network end of story.

[POLL] Are You Getting The Galaxy S4 Octa 5 Exynos or Quad Core Snapdragon 600?

Just wanted to do a quick poll on if your getting the Galaxy S4 Octa 5 Exynos or Quad Core Snapdragon 600.
If you have a reason for choosing one variant of the Galaxy S4 over the other be sure to comment below!
Haven't decided if I'm upgrading my device yet but if I am, I will be attempting to get the Exynos Octa. The improved battery life and the PowerVr GPU as well as the wolfson DAC are all swinging me towards the Octa. Based on previous Samsung devices, the international version received updates quicker. One downside to the octa at the moment is the lack of LTE, although I find 3G to be fast enough so it isn't really a downside for me.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I voted exynos though by the time they get to the UK the Note 3, Motorola X and Nexus 5 should all be on the horizon so I may end up getting any one of these four phones especially if Sam manage to do some tardis like design with the Note 3 so it doesn't actually get bigger in the pocket.
I'm going to say there will be about 3 or 4 million Snapdragon devices sold JUST in the U.S. .
Just about every other country except for South Korea and maybe Russia will also be mostly Snapdragon versions. Hopefully, for those of you that ordered the Exynos versions, Samsung will let some of them slip out to other locations as long as they have allotted enough to those two countries..
Octa 5 Exynos seems more future-proof than Qcom Snapdragon 600.
^O^
Wolfson chip is all I care for now. But kind of annoying to learn new standard will be 9505 as most countries will receive those. So development will support them more than Exynos. However, even less development support can't force me switch to 9500 as sound quality is the most important part for me right now. I'm listening to a so much music and I spend the same money for my headphones as I do for my phones.
Unsure as of yet, I don't put bat life as a high priority, I want root but only for the apps that require root, I want the best potential game play and sound, I want lte for faster web than I get now on hspa+42 with my n4, so I guess I have to wait till late June early July and see what the exynos is like by then in the UK or even if the phone has been superceded by then.
I want Exynos variant, but hope with new firmwares will score better on gpu benchmarks...
Am in America and there's LTE to take advantage of, so I have to go with Snapdragon. I would really love to use the i9500, but for me, the better LTE speeds will trump the possibly better processor/audio/battery life of the Exynos. Out in the suburbs, a difference of LTE can determine whether you're streaming Youtube in 1080p, or barely skating by on 360. Likewise with Netflix and other services like that.
It would be awesome if I could have the best of both worlds, but I suspect by the time they did that (if they do it at all with the Galaxy S4) then the Note 3 will be out and then I may as well get that.
that snap wont have the wolfeson chip? wtf!!!! i have a note2 but was looking to get the s4,oh well.. i just wonder how much worse the dac will sound
Quad Core Snapdragon 600
Why?
On Sprint and have an upgrade
rumored to get better cpu support
LTE is available in my area
difference in performance is not great enough to give up other advantages

What would the advantage of the Wolfson DAC be over the Snapdragon GS4? GSMarena's audio testing shows the Snapdragon GS4 has better audio quality than my Nexus S which has a Wolfson DAC.
Since here in Luxembourg we are getting only the I9505 version, I'll be getting the Snapdragon version. I don't really care about benchmarks and CPU's though... so I think I will be ok with both versions
Snapdragon here.
not like I have much of a choice
While I am intrigued by the BIG.Little architecture, and would prefer an exynos with LTE and support for T-mobile radio bands. Since that doesn't exist currently, I am resigned to the Snapdragon, but really not that upset about it. The Snapdragon 600 is a beast in its own right, I'll only be mad if the battery life ends up being much better with exynos over snapdragon.
I'm not too worried about a 10-15% performance difference, and think that development will be better on the snapdragon. I'm much more excited for the new screen, removable battery and sd card, new sensors, wireless charging add-ons, smart cover, almost non-existent light leakage, etc..

I have been in a terrible situation since the launching day of the galaxy s4. These days, all I have done is to gather all the information concerning these two models. Here is what I found out:

IMO that is a really personal choice, and in this case, I think there is not an objective right or wrong one. I would chose GT-I9500 due to the wolfston DAC, the higher potential I see in the Exynos and its allegedly better photo quality, since LTE, a little higher prize and the differences in GPU are not as important to me

Take the I9500, it is Exynos man !
I have the 9500 sitting right next to me and I ca tell you it does not support LTE unless you get one of the Korean versions which is the only announced Octa with LTE at this time.
IMO get the snapdragon if you can make use of LTE. There are a good number of Octa versus snapdragon comparisons available now and the link the fellow was referring to is only one result. Looking at many results it does appear like the Octa has an advantage in a few areas but it is very small and nothing that appears to be something you would notice in day to day use. I just don't see a lot to hang your hat on with Octa that would be worth trading off LTE and I only did so because I don't have LTE in my area and wont for the foreseeable future so I thought I would give the Octa a spin and see if the better battery life being touted plays out.
Will both have the same number of dev supports?

No, I think the snapdragon will see quite a bit more support. Won't be an issue with Sammy based ROMs but if you want to go CM and the like that's where it's going to get thin(ner).

Yes I saw that news too. But I have hoped that they will release some driver or patch to solve this problem. But yes, it is a drawback of the I9500 at the moment.
Well Just choose the i9505 from VirginMobile(a french telecommunication service), 15 euros/month subscription, and I pay 399 euros for the phone. It is a quiet good offer. Feel free to give me other advice for the comparison. Thank you
Holy shiit, I will become totally mad of this. I still cannot decide. Both have their advantage and both have drawbacks. I have already ordered the i9505, but really really like the ultime performace of the i9500 cpu and its wolfson sound chipset.
I ordered both but I still can cancel one of them. Any other advice for me so that I can decide quickly without any hesitation? Thank you

I have been in a terrible situation since the launching day of the galaxy s4. These days, all I have done is to gather all the information concerning these two models. Here is what I found out:
S4 I9500 Exynos 5:
+Excellent CPU performance.
+Excellent Sound chipset.
- Not support 4G
- GPU less performs worth than Adreno 320 (in game and in benchmarks)
- Expensive(in my country, I must import the octa core one from USA for a additionnal 100 euros)
S4 I9505 Snapdragon 600:
+Better GPU
+Support 4G
- sound chipset sounds worth than I9500 Wolfson
-Cpu performs worth than Exynos 5
So I still don't know which one should I get...Samsung is annoying by releasing two differnet models...They know how to make geeks nervous...I haven't slept well for a week. I cannot sleep if I can't decide which one should I get. Since this is a big deal, I must think carefully about it. So Please help me. Thank you in advance.

I have already seen this video a thousand of time. It just shows how good the I9500 CPU is and how good the i9505 GPU is.

Which processor is/should be faster?

Hi I currently have an S3 i9300 and my company requires me to install MobileIron app and encrypt the whole phone; I find this slows down my phone considerably and often times I need to wait almost a minute for my app drawer to display my apps or some 20 seconds for camera to start.
Don't know if my experience with the S3 i9300 is only because of encryption app or also my processor-ram specs combination is not powerful enough to get a smooth experience.
So I'm looking to upgrade to an S4 but I don't know which version should I get based on which should be the faster one?
Should I get the 1.9GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor or a 1.6GHz Exynos Octa-core processor?

Octa core variant is marginally faster but does not support 4g
Snapdragon Is little slow compare to Octa core but support 4g
u can choose as per ur need
Both are good device
the i9500 is faster even though it is really a quad core phone and only 4 cores can be activated at the same time. but I've seen somewhere that Samsung said with android 5 update the phone will be a real octa core and all eight cores can be used simultaneously.
The change to a i9500/9505 for you will be very good because the s3 I9300 only has 1gig of ram compared to the i9500/i9505 that have new processors and 2gigs of ram. That extra ram will definitely make a difference.

What are you saying, Android 5 doesn't even exist. Also the Exynos 5410 won't allow all 8 cores only the exynos 5420 can which is only in the Note 3
So based on what you said, I could even consider the Note3 which has 3gigs of ram and expect even better smoother performance? Saying I wouldn't mind the extra real state needs if I could realistically expect a noticeable improvement over currently described S3 conditions...

If u can go for the note 3 and u don't mind it's size ... go for the note 3 and never look back ... but i suggest u wait if you can ofc for about a month to see how the s800 against the 5420 exynos compares ... it not so much about the ram except if you are a really heavy multitasker but the cpu and gpu which we know for sure that in the snapdragon case it's a considerable improvement especially in the gpu department and we ve yet to see how the new exynos chipset will compare to it's older sibling ...

This is what I'm talking about. And for now note 3 is not octa core either.
