This is really not comparable. Their a200 is their newer tablet so it's really comparable to the Prime and therefore it's late. Prime had its ICS a long time ago.
On the other hand Acer's previous tablets like the a100 and a500 which are comparable to the TF101 (in terms of release date) have yet to see ICS. Chances are Asus will release ICS for TF101 before a100 or a500 get their ICS update and yet again Asus will beat them just like Asus beat them to the punch by releasing ICS on Prime before Acer could release ICS for the a200.

Yes point is Motorola did not say the xoom was going to get. Then push back the date four times. They simple release the update. Were as Asus simple talk and those not follow thru.

A200 is having Tegra 2 like TF101 and almost the same spec here.
I don't see why Asus is keep delaying on this when they first indicate Dec-11 then Jan-12 and now Feb-12.
I don't think Asus is putting any effort on ICS for TF101. Priority to them, to launch TF700 first and also fixing their quality issue on TF201.
Sorry to be negative on this, recently Asus is suck on their supplier chain, quality control and customer services. I think there are going downhill.
Just my 2-cents.

would it matter if asus said anything or not?
if they said nothing then the same folk that are whining about the time its taking for a release would then be moaning that asus doesnt love them as they havent publicly said the tf101 is going to get i.c.s and theyd never buy another asus product again.

Here's an idea, why not just wait patiently until ICS comes out, the *****ing, whining, and complaining will get you nowhere. When it comes out, it comes out. Rome wasn't built in a day.

Never has the noob/pro line been defined so clearly as this hahaha
pros know;
ICS in only on 1% of devices
Prime owners have more problems with ICS than anything
Asus does not know when Google will give it the Ok (or ask for revision, which I suspect what might be the case and they just learned their lesson to quit updating us because of the whining when setbacks occur)
No developer can tell you how long a particular piece of code will take to write/debug
When you get it, you realize it adds very few extra features, it's not like going from GB to ICS on a phone, we have HC, which is almost ICS, for all sake of argument
Flashing a modded ROM with an ICS theme actually will probably give you more options than the ICS update from Asus will.
Crying about it doesn't speed up the process, actually probably just makes them stop updating us if setbacks cause PR nightmares.
HAHAHA

Want ICS? try out Paul's AOSP port. It's pretty goddamned great.

+1 on that ive said several times and in several places paul alone is probably ahead of asus....lol.all im waitin on is the audio/video to get right and its my daily, i ran it for a good two days straight with very little problems and its definetly smoother and faster than HC.
AND to set the record straight i know i started the thread but it was far from whining, or *****ing i think its funny personally.

So much for "Google Approval" eh.
The ICS update for the Prime early was meant for it to be able to sell more tablets and to make it look more attractive over the TF101

You guys need to look at this as a positive, the Acer has very similar hardware, meaning Paul or one of the other devs can pull that build and get alot of things working in ICS for the TF.
This is a good thing!

Anyone a little shocked?

I am, and I'll tell you why.
Samsung hasn't even started building a GB ROM for our phone, and that's kind of weird to me, because I would think that they would have something.
I don't remember where I read this, and this could be wrong, but doesn't the carrier has to request the update, and then the manufacturer builds it? (I can be COMPLETELY wrong, so don't hold me to this) If that's true, then we may not see a GB build, because T-Mobile USA wouldn't request it.
Tell me what you think, because this interests me a lot.

It's not that, SamFirmware stated (and I honestly believe them, if they found all these leaks for other phones so quickly), that there's no Vibrant (SGH-T959) build, which could mean A LOT of things, possibly something as simple as Samsung is really lazy and doesn't want to upload it, but it would mean more.
I'm just saying, I don't know what's up, but I'd like to know more.
And they probably won't, at least not in the near future since there are a ****load of new 4G phones coming out in the near future. The Vibrant is old news already like yesterdays dirty laundry. Technology advances faster than you can fart.

I noticed that as well. But you have to remember that T-Mobile plays real dirty. Remember when we had 2.2 leaks back late November (JK2)? It didn't become official until #NeverAgain made such a huge PR mess for them that Samsung & T-Mobile had to release it. But it was up until then, that T-Mobile didn't want to update out phones because of the pending MT4G & SGS4G release, dirty mfers...
By the way this issue gets more complicated now with the AT&T merger. AT&T strongly believes that updates are not good for business. From their point of view if they don't do updates it gives users more reasons to upgrade to new phones.
So if TMo was borderline crap about this already, the adoption by AT&T is only going to delay things further.
What does that mean for us, enjoy the awesome roms on xda and forget about TMo.

Just read da tweets someone should just port from 4g to us
Ya boy
Ya, but Google kind of helped us all out with that. Its not up to the carriers if a phone is going to get an update anymore. If Manufactures want to use Android they have to abide by the 18 month update cycle this goes for carriers too. They have to provided updates to newer versions of Android during the first 18 month of a phones life. Our Vibrants really only have six months left of that 18 though. So don't expect an official Ice Cream Sandwich update. I wish google had been enforcing this rule back in the days of the original cliq and cliq xt. The poor XT didn't even get an update out of 1.5. I think Google has gotten tired of all the negative press that manufactures are developing because of the unwillingness to update phones. Of course as you we all know a lot of this has to do with carriers not wanting these updates or their need for unreasonable software packages they want add to the update packages.
How shock i am? Look at this pic.

Hmm I don't see it as a problem, well at least as long as we have the vibrant 4g, I'm just waiting for the sgs2, then I'll be gone
Well we cant be mad at samsung as its not there fault its tmobil. Most of us will be moving to hercules or sgs2 anyway so no worries crying over this in my opinion.
Yeah, I think it's time to accept the likelihood that Samsung/T-mo won't be providing much further development or support for the Vibrant given the new product lines. It doesn't mean it'll be obsolete though. Thanks developers!

Hints at ICS being released in April :(

I was just looking at Engadget, and I saw this: http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/17/bell-mobility-hints-at-ice-cream-sandwich-release-dates-for-gala/
Here is what the article it says:
"We've come across an internal document from Bell Mobility that's bound to raise the hopes of a few good Canadians. Yes folks, we're talking Ice Cream Sandwich. The carrier to the north estimates that it'll have Android 4.0 ready for the Sensation in February, which is to be followed by the Raider's update in March -- this handset may be more familiar to AT&T customers as the Vivid. Pulling up the rear, users of the Galaxy S II are to expect the upgrade in April, and while the Optimus LTE is also mentioned, there's no specific time frame for that one. Certainly estimated release dates don't always come to fruition, but at least we know what Bell's aiming for, anyway."

I really hope this estimate is wrong, what do you think?
Kp1. Maybe P = April
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
I think that is the date the Galaxy SII will get ICS on that carrier. Remember that a lot of carriers delay updates to their phones so they can be "certified". Also, if we already have a pretty much working build of ICS (give or take a few force closes and battery life), how can it take them so long to polish it?
At this stage i have to say im a bit pissed off that we still haven't been given ICS for our SGSII why cant they just release all the necessary code required so developers can do their thing.
Bell is very, very slow at releasing official firmware updates. As far as I know the SGSII still comes with their carrier branded 2.3.3
If they're releasing in April and that happens to be at the same time as ICS goes global, I'd be very, very, VERY surprised. Just a possibility.
I will be issed also if it isn't released by February by the latest, if it isn't i think ill be getting a nexus phone next year.

I think I am going to get the next nexus phone regardless of when we get ICS for the GS2.
to be honest i hope they dont rush it , it isnt just building ics for their hardware it needs intensive testing as well
the sgs2 has shipped over 10 million units now , releasing a firmware with bugs in it could do more harm then good and id rather wait and get a rock solid ics for our phones and for the devs to have a solid base to tweak from
lets face it they got the firmware the phone shipped with pretty dam good and i hope too see a nice stable ics release from them too
i use my phone to much to be using beta software and ive had enough nokias in my time and had enough of unstable buggy firmware and waiting for patches to come to fix the bugs
i think april sounds about right for a genuine samsung firmware that has been fully tested for stabillity and compatabillity with apps and extras
Does not sound like an xda developer member...just sayin'

This really means nothing for international GS2's. More than likely Samsung's ICS will release in late December/early January and those on XDA will have it looong before Bell in Canada.
Bell is an North America carrier which does not have any Apple vs. Samsung court cases.
Yet, rest of the world do. That's why I can certainly say that Ice Cream Sandwich for SGS II & Galaxy Tabs will be the fastest delivery of an Android distribution (from Google release to End users) Samsung ever made.
That date is for carrier branded phones.
For international phones it would be much sooner.
I'm expecting mid Jan

Its actually samsung's fault they haven't got it working yet. Samsung hasn't released kernel sources yet. I think the main obstacle right now for cm9 is the RIL is unstable. Codeworkx said once they can stabilize that they'd probably have a beta soon after. Kernel sources would give the cm9 team what they need to get RIL stable. So when we get that or a leak with stable RIL we should get cm9. I totally believe the cm team will get to the finish line long before Samsung. The other devices already getting alphas and betas of cm9 must just be easier to get working. I've read the galaxy sII is "unique" to code for because of the hardware.

There's still a lot of work to be done by Sammy.
They can't release something they don't have - makes sense, doesn't it?
As for the second part of your statement: They did. KP1, nuff said.
Definitely for that carrier.
KP1 is already released and all the major functions work. So another month max it will take to release the stable version.
And I didn't pay 600 US$ to Devs, but Samsung, so it's their responsibility to release it at time, hence I don't give a damn what Devs are doing.
Still I think Samsung should take a little bit of extra time, if it's needed, it's far better to release a Stable version than releasing a non stable one in a hurry. Also Google said that they would like the manufacturers to use 4.0.3 as the base version, so I don't know if Samsung will give us 4.0.1 like KP1 or directly 4.0.3.
Google also wants 4.0.3 as the base version of Ice Cream Sandwich to be used by Android handset manufacturers.

[Mid-February] ISC update - variable dates from Asus

As i have been looking over the web, searching Asus's FB pages, there were some answers when TF101 will get ICS update.
But the problem is because different Asus people answer us differently.
NOTE! All quotes are from their FB pages, you can check them out.
Nr.1: From: "ASUS North America": soon. Its in the process of being approved by google. once that is done we will be able to push it out to you guys.
Nr.2: From: "ASUS": Possibly Feb. No confirmed dates at this point. -Mark, ASUS
Nr.3: From: "ASUS Serbia" Lepa vest za korisnike Transformer TF101. Ice Cream Sandwich za isti se očekuje polovinom februara. (meaning: we get it in mid Feb.)
So, what do you guys think? We get that ICS in mid feb, sooner or later?
I kinda bet its gonna be later than that
Signed.
id say somewhere between next week and mid February.
How about when we get it, we get it. There are so many threads dedicated to this topic already.
I don't think it will be mid February that's for a Serbia. I think Asia asus might be closer to truth.
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
I would have to say that this is just one too many threads about this update. Geez!
close this topic, asus has already announced the ICS update will be sometime during the last week of January (which also includes the first week of February). We can only wait and see if they are accurate.

The Mayan didn't say anything about SSC. So i would say no.
Asus NA is right for NA consumers. Mid-February seems correct if you're living in Serbia. It has nothing to do with NA consumers since the launch appears to be staggered based on location.
So for NA consumers it's "soon". End of story.
I think it will come when Federer wins the Australian Open. Or when Nadal breaks another knee or something.

Although I can't find it right now, I remember reading one of Asus's facebook comments that said the US and Taiwan will get the update at the same time.

Only when asus hears no more complaints from disgruntled transformer prime customers unable to update to ics due to "unknown serial number" debacle.
I suggest all those who are complaining daily about the delay of ICS jump over to the prime forum and see how much fun they are having with the ICS update. Yes I would like the ICS update, but not at the expense of the problems the prime folks are having. Maybe it is best we don't have it just yet.
Can't wait!

That's a lot of hate, but i agree, if I were to own this company i'd do everything for charity, making a profit is overrated!
I don't know how focused they can be on updating the old-gen Transformer, but I guess they will update, since both are catering to different market segments, and you might want to get the cheaper TF101 if it's good enough for you even with the TF201 out.
That said, I'm sure they'll be using the Prime as an ICS Guinea pig. I voted for mid-February, and I guess we'll get several minor updates after it's out (whenever it's out) for bug fixing (as it's been the case so far).
Damnit Asus... Yesterday they said "Awaiting Google approval", and now they're saying Mid-February...

((ASUS United Kingdom
Regarding the reports of ICS for TF101 being pushed back to March - Asus UK has not received any information confirming this. We will let you know if there is any further, solid developments and when we have a difinitive date for the release.
As Asus Singapore said we appreciate all the support and enthusiasm shown for our products on Facebook. We also realise how frustrating it is to wait and thank you for your patience.))
because of this,it will be my last device buy from asus,,i had idea to upgrade to prime but i remove it completely from my mind even when ICS come momenterly to TF 101 ,, BECAUSE OF THESE FREQUENT LIES

Just because you have a bigger font, and added color's won't make Asus care any more than they do now. Frankly its annoying to look at.
I for one wan't ICS badly but maybe they are trying to make it "perfect" since the update for the Prime was a disaster. For that reason I'm content in waiting for a finished product than something that I will come back on here and complain about.

Seriously? What are you 12 with a bank roll?
I mean come on folks, Asus is ahead of the curve as other tablets are slated for Q3 http://www.slashgear.com/asus-transformer-ics-upgrade-sags-to-march-16213753/.
So if you want to go out and spend another $500 just to say you have the latest, well go ahead, and stop the crying on the forum.
Very happy to wait another month and have a smooth transition to ICS
The Mods might as well start another similar thread for all Jelly Bean, since there is already one thread started.
I love my Transformer. I'm very keen to see it updated to ICS though. The main reason is that I want to see what the ROM guys do with it, rather than what ASUS gives us. I'm paying close attention to Paul's progress as well.

neither crying nor complaining in forum lovely baby-doll,,just tell that long story since last year and those frequent inaccurate ((expectations)) as fortune-tellers not a staff of company !!!!
I want it to work if it takes until March ok,they did not say you will never get it ok.
Wooooooohoooooooooooooo, an official ICS thread.
TF
if they realease ICS early to Asus TF, do you think TF user wanna upgrade to Prime? I don't think so. They will improve ICS on Prime first before they do anything else.
Anyway, i love my TF whether with ICS or not. I already use ICS using Nexus S, so i can wait ICS for TF until they release the best stable ICS without bug.
Asus South Africa is teasing with a screenshot of a TF101G running ICS 4.0.3 on facebook .........

ZE551ML and ZE550ML are currently being tested for Android M. It's not yet on the announcement board of zentalk but a moderator categorically replied to my thread in zentalk and confirmed that it's already starting the development stage. (see attached photo)

@ASUS_Khang, would you kindly comment on this as to how we are going to accept and understand the statement given?? Thanks
I just read that as, they are testing to see if it's capable of running it. Not that they're actually doing anything about it. I just want 5.1.1 and the lack of that is bloody annoying. Come on asus.

High expectations, high disappointment. Just like 5.1

Don't wanna be too optimistic and rude at the same time. But isn't testing it on those devices implies plan to implement. Otherwise why test if there is no clear plan of development? Again am not being too optimistic just looking at all possible angles.
Just my two cents.
I was trying to analyze the message ARP_ASUS said, if they are testing it on ZE551ML and ZE550ML. Then definitely there is a source code available and optimize already for x86 device.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but u can't test something on a x86 device if you don't have a Android M source code specifically for x86 right?
Asus is not even capable of giving us 5.1. Forget about 6.0.
Just my humble opinion.
Nothing to see on this line
Man, I sure do love Monday morning volatility and vitriol, don't you?
Short of an announcement on their official pages, I'd still take any confirmation of the Marshmallow update, even on the official forums from a mod as a response, with a bit of salt. That being said, this is quite interesting. It seems like it is a firm statement that the pre-Zenfone 2 devices will not be updated by ASUS to 6 (not extremely surprising but it's a good gauge for us as to potential expected device support longevity).
Indeed, testing implies development. There have been times in the past where a company has tested an update and, in the end, chosen not to finalize and push it out (Atrix 4g comes to mind, since the development builds were eventually leaked showing that work had been done trying to get it to work). With the relatively close system requirements changes between Lollipop and Marshmallow, that probably won't be a factor in it. I'm not sure how those x86 Intel sources factor into it, but with actual testing being done that builds up my optimism!

Yep and am pretty sure it's gonna be wild and filled with rants and complaints for the next few days in zentalk once the first gen or pre Zenfone 2 subgroup people read this and starts to sink in their heads. Lol
Not a clear road map as posted. But hey something is still better than being blind as to where zf2 is heading right??
nc and all but we don't even know if they will ever release it, just like that 5.1

Hey - I can't really comment on what that means. Testing sounds great which gives me hope we'll see Android M, but that message in and of itself doesn't sound official enough for me. Again, I'm trying to help by asking HQ a ton of questions and seeing what the plan is. These things take a ton of time because they need to go through a lot of people. All I can ask is for your patience and understanding.
I plan on following up with HQ about this.

Thanks, Keep us posted if something comes up.
I don't see why there is all this whinging about the Zenfone 2 on the forum.
It has got twice the ram and 4 times the storage of my previous phone (S4) for less than half the price of the S4.
Data and phone signals are as good or better than the S4 in my experience, and the phone is faster and smoother.
As to the ram leak, with 4gig who cares., and with 64gig internal and 64gig external I don't give a toss about the bloat.
Battery - with my usage the battery lasts 2 days, the same as my S4 now that it has lollipop.
Asus is putting out firmware updates regularly, they may not be 5.1.1 or 6.0, but if they improve the phone experience so what.
My only gripe with my phone so far is that I had to get it from Hong Kong, if Asus can sell it in France then they can get off their asses and sell it in the UK.
While I would fully expect Asus to provide an update to at least 5.1, or even 6.0, I believe in you get what you pay for. For a $300 phone, you get good bang for your buck, and I appreciate Asus having a rep stay active in the forum, Reddit, and ZenTalk.
There's nothing that says Asus has to provide this update, since it's not a Nexus device, and looking at models like Samsung LG, or Moto, it takes months to get their phones to what is or was the current iteration of Android.
I did however stick my faith in Asus for what I think is a good product, and this will be the determining factor as to if I ever purchase anything Asus again. I think a lot of people feel that way. We could have gone the Moto or even OPO route, but when went with Asus. It's up to them to keep us happy and coming back.

I saw it being sold on Amazon.co.uk, the ww version that was being shipped from Amazon UK, which is great if you have a problem and need to return it. Though I would suggest getting the US version if you are set on getting this phone, because it has more bands unlocked, which I will admit their bands are a huge plus on this phone. Keep in mind that the second sim only works on 2G voice/text and data is software blocked.
Hoping for fixing battery drain Android OS crap with 6.0

To think about it i dont have so much hope in asus
But can you like flash a dev 6.0 rom or something like that from dev for zen
To be fair, Asus is still better than the likes of Oppo - many of their phones are still stuck on KitKat.
