Just because you have a bigger font, and added color's won't make Asus care any more than they do now. Frankly its annoying to look at.
I for one wan't ICS badly but maybe they are trying to make it "perfect" since the update for the Prime was a disaster. For that reason I'm content in waiting for a finished product than something that I will come back on here and complain about.

Seriously? What are you 12 with a bank roll?
I mean come on folks, Asus is ahead of the curve as other tablets are slated for Q3 http://www.slashgear.com/asus-transformer-ics-upgrade-sags-to-march-16213753/.
So if you want to go out and spend another $500 just to say you have the latest, well go ahead, and stop the crying on the forum.
Very happy to wait another month and have a smooth transition to ICS

The Mods might as well start another similar thread for all Jelly Bean, since there is already one thread started.

I love my Transformer. I'm very keen to see it updated to ICS though. The main reason is that I want to see what the ROM guys do with it, rather than what ASUS gives us. I'm paying close attention to Paul's progress as well.

TF
if they realease ICS early to Asus TF, do you think TF user wanna upgrade to Prime? I don't think so. They will improve ICS on Prime first before they do anything else.
Anyway, i love my TF whether with ICS or not. I already use ICS using Nexus S, so i can wait ICS for TF until they release the best stable ICS without bug.

Where's the link? Am i blind? http://www.sonyericsson.com/update don't come up with anything new and a "Update service" tells me I have the latest software.
EDIT: Aha, a refresh of http://www.sonyericsson.com/update gives "Coming soon. Come back later". Later this spring, year, decade? A "march update" should really be out in march and it scares me SE seems to be working on the update to the very last minute (or even longer?), will it be as good as SE (and customers) planned for?
Yes, this is because MR1 isn´t available now! SE only says that: Comming soon... But when is soon ?
surely we all know by now that when a company says "march" it means it could be march/april/may lol. especially with software. they can only guess when they will finish theres no definate science to it. if theres a delay its because theyve not finished ironing out any bugs not because they cant be bothered to let us have it. the main thing is we know theyre serious about supporting the X2 and its on the way...
remember this isnt just an update to fix bugs its also an upgrade to wm6.5.2 so im sure they have their fair share of headaches making sure all existing software works with the newer operating system.
What the hell. Why make a topic saying it's available when it's not.
You could of said "it's coming soon"
I just brought a Xperia X2. Tomorrow it arrives.
I expect to install the MR1 Update as soon at it gets it.

I guess your post is addressed to me so here's my answer:
Companies says this and that and you say we (their customers) have to accept whatever bull**** they throw at us. This should be because of some new born truth, when they say yes they mean no, perhaps or even yes? Well, you, me and many of the users here have been ****ed over and over again so now it's ok?
I can just think how this sort of behavior would be accepted if it concerned delivery of your new car for example. You could probably accept a delay if your told in reasonable time. But if the car dealer did a ostrich putting the head in the sand you'll probably go bullocks, just as I do now over SE. As a comparison, look at Microsofts "patch Tuesday", is it ok for them to send out patches at Thursdays instead?
SE officially said February 2: "In March, we’ll launch our first upgrade" and February 26 they narrowed the release down to, if I remember the exact phrase, "late March". It can be read/seen at http://xperiancers.com/ Nowhere can we see or read about any delay and with that information provided by SE we should expect nothing other than a March release. You me and everyone we know perhaps knows this isn't so but we should never accept it.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that the last post at xperiancers.com is that they're shutting down (remember the ostrich?) Ok, they say they moving to the product blog. Well head over there for yourselves and see if you can find any posts or even a X2 category. Not a sound of any delays.

no my previous post wasnt particularly aimed at anyone. it seemed that people where taking the "march" release date a bit too literaly. yes they did say march but we've all owned phones and other technological goods long enough now to know that when a company says a release date its not set in stone. no matter what the item or product, when delivery is involved its always sensible to factor in a bit of leeway for unforseen circumstances unless a specific exact time and date are promised. and in this case it wasnt. it was just a notice on a blog. until a specific date is announced then its sensible to assume that march could mean begining of april.
the only way a company can give a firm date about something is if it was finished and ready to go. eg a car or something physical that has a manufactureing lead time. they can give an exact release date because it takes a measurable time to manufacture the finished tested product and they know exactly how long it will take.
with software updates you can release it the day its finished testing. theres no lead time or manufacturing delay. so when they announce a release date 3months in advance its just a best guess because theyve obviously not finished it when they made that announcement. theres no way they can guarentee that date, they cant foresee every problem that arises. they can only give best guess assuming everything proceeds smoothly. if the release date arrives and the software is still buggy then theyre goin to delay the release to give the customer a better product. sony havent released the update because its not ready not because they want to piss us off or because they dont care or have poor customer service. if anything it shows they value their customers because theyre not willing to fob us off with a crappy buggy firmware release.
from all indications and the notice on the sony website it does seem that the update is very close. if they get it out first week of april then im not going to fuss over a couple of days. but if it takes longer than that ill gladly join the ranks of unhappy people kicking up a fuss.
with regards to there being no mention of the X2 on the new weblog its because today isnt April 1st. the X2 had its own blog so wasnt mentioned on there before. if you read the notice on the xperiancers blog you will see it says they are closing the X2 blog on april 1st which is tomorrow and then moving everything across. not sure if that means theyre moving the old announcements and posts across aswell.
"As of the first of April, we’ll shut this site down and move everything to blogs.sonyericsson.com/products then the posts from Aaron, Me, and the team at Wolfstar will continue there."
April is here, but ROM is still nowhere... Thanks SE.

Often marketing and development are not communicating very well. Like:
Marketing: "When it will be finished?"
Development: "With 20 people at the end of april."
Marketing: "OK, let's say 10 people and march."
Duh!
And S-E marketing must be really smoking weed or so, because what sensible company would release phones like Vivaz AND Vivaz Pro, X10 Mini AND X10 Mini Pro? Who would buy non-Pro version anyway?
Anyway, today I'm going to buy and try X2, so I expect myself to join the ranks of angry Xperia users :-D
(But with my demands there is no alternative save maybe for B7610 which proven to be a fail )

European availability

I asked my local Samsung distributor on Facebook about availability and got a strange answer yesterday. They said it has been delayed because of Android software problems and should be here by end of July.
This sounds just like the rumour that i read about a week ago. I don't know what to think now. Does anyone have any information about this?
Only what you know - I have heard August as they ready 3.1 to ship with the device.
I picked up up a limited edition 10.1 on ebay for a reasonable price, and just got the upgrade to 3.1 so all's well on them here in the UK.
Perhaps see if you can get one from there if you can't wait...
I want a 3G tablet, so the LE is not a option, i already have a WIFI only Xoom for home use. Only thing that's holding me back from buying a Xoom 3G is the fact that the European Xoom's are not Google experience devices and don't get updates from Google.
So my only option for now is 10.1V, but I wonder if the 10.1V will get updates at all?
I don't understand how there can be a software problem. My Xoom runs on 3.1 for over a month now, also the GT10.1LE got the update and the GT10.1 was already released with 3.1 in US. And if i remember correctly then this rumor about software problems with Android 3.1 got already a response from Google and they said there is no such problems. So i just don't get it, how can Samsung make so much confusion...

Found this link on Samsung Poland Facebook page Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Poland at the end of June (Google translate)
In Poland there is now Samsung Mobile L!VE (http://www.samsungmobilelive.pl/o-sml.html).
I have already visited one stand and today I plan to see one more.
1. I have been told to expect it in the shops by the end of current month.
2. All specs on the stands list GT 10.1 with dual core 1,2 Ghz CPU (will try to take some photos 2day).
With recent pull back from 1,2 Ghz by Vodafone to 1,0 Ghz I really do not know what to think... especially that these stands are made by Samsung not some 3rd party company like Vodafone or independent distributor.

If you can, please ask if they have heard about the delay's because of Android software problems.
Vodafone changing the specs doesn't mean anything, it can be that they just released the information too early. This happened with Android 3.1 also, Adobe wrote in Android Market Flash update description that Android 3.1 is needed and this information was removed very fast and everything was denied until Google officially announced 3.1.
I found now one dealer in Germany that lists a release date. It is Conrad and they say on their webpage 4th of July 2011 for the 3G model. Let's see if that's true.

I forgot the link: http://www.conrad.de/ce/ProductDeta...productcode=877127&zanpid=1514577257979813888

And the black and white 8.9 - Juli 15

I don't have experience with Conrad. Are their expected delivery dates usually correct?

im not too sure how good my polish is but does that say that it has a 3.2mp camera and supports full hd? im quiet sure the 10.1 only supports 720p. so may be those specs are not 100%. thats to galtom for the pics thou. ne more info?
So, first release for Europe will be the 3G model?
Any news when the wifi only will be available?
That is exactly what it says.
Guys at the stand do not know anything about it as they do not really work for Samsung.
Basically there is a GREAT, BIG MESS around and with this tablet crated by Samsung . It is so big that now looks like even Samsung itself is not 100% sure what is coming out of his production lines.
If you ask Samsung through facebook or its websites in different countries you will get a lot of different answers but what seems to certain is:
all GT10.1 will run 1ghz tegra 2 soc
wifi will not have microsd
3g will have it
it should reach shops with android 3.1
touchwiz ux looks very good and works very good - for me it is actually more convinient and user friendly that google UI.

To be completly honest I have not asked as it is not the one I would buy :-(.
I shuold be later on 2day at another stand to compare unit model but do not know how reliable are infos given there.
As you see CPU shows 1,2 Ghz.... so I'd rather wait for something more official.
I just can not believe Samsung goes on (sill) making more mess, creating confusion and disinformation in regard of its tablet.
This is the first time I have seen official Samsung marketing showing 1.2Ghz... interesting
Have missed other stand 2day - sorry. And since it is a big holiday 2morrow in PL (not usual Sunday) I will not be able to get there 2morrow (it is not me but everything is essentially closed up) :-(.
Get back to you on this on Monday.

Hints at ICS being released in April :(

I was just looking at Engadget, and I saw this: http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/17/bell-mobility-hints-at-ice-cream-sandwich-release-dates-for-gala/
Here is what the article it says:
"We've come across an internal document from Bell Mobility that's bound to raise the hopes of a few good Canadians. Yes folks, we're talking Ice Cream Sandwich. The carrier to the north estimates that it'll have Android 4.0 ready for the Sensation in February, which is to be followed by the Raider's update in March -- this handset may be more familiar to AT&T customers as the Vivid. Pulling up the rear, users of the Galaxy S II are to expect the upgrade in April, and while the Optimus LTE is also mentioned, there's no specific time frame for that one. Certainly estimated release dates don't always come to fruition, but at least we know what Bell's aiming for, anyway."

I really hope this estimate is wrong, what do you think?
Kp1. Maybe P = April
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
I think that is the date the Galaxy SII will get ICS on that carrier. Remember that a lot of carriers delay updates to their phones so they can be "certified". Also, if we already have a pretty much working build of ICS (give or take a few force closes and battery life), how can it take them so long to polish it?
At this stage i have to say im a bit pissed off that we still haven't been given ICS for our SGSII why cant they just release all the necessary code required so developers can do their thing.
Bell is very, very slow at releasing official firmware updates. As far as I know the SGSII still comes with their carrier branded 2.3.3
If they're releasing in April and that happens to be at the same time as ICS goes global, I'd be very, very, VERY surprised. Just a possibility.
I will be issed also if it isn't released by February by the latest, if it isn't i think ill be getting a nexus phone next year.

I think I am going to get the next nexus phone regardless of when we get ICS for the GS2.
to be honest i hope they dont rush it , it isnt just building ics for their hardware it needs intensive testing as well
the sgs2 has shipped over 10 million units now , releasing a firmware with bugs in it could do more harm then good and id rather wait and get a rock solid ics for our phones and for the devs to have a solid base to tweak from
lets face it they got the firmware the phone shipped with pretty dam good and i hope too see a nice stable ics release from them too
i use my phone to much to be using beta software and ive had enough nokias in my time and had enough of unstable buggy firmware and waiting for patches to come to fix the bugs
i think april sounds about right for a genuine samsung firmware that has been fully tested for stabillity and compatabillity with apps and extras
Does not sound like an xda developer member...just sayin'

This really means nothing for international GS2's. More than likely Samsung's ICS will release in late December/early January and those on XDA will have it looong before Bell in Canada.
Bell is an North America carrier which does not have any Apple vs. Samsung court cases.
Yet, rest of the world do. That's why I can certainly say that Ice Cream Sandwich for SGS II & Galaxy Tabs will be the fastest delivery of an Android distribution (from Google release to End users) Samsung ever made.
That date is for carrier branded phones.
For international phones it would be much sooner.
I'm expecting mid Jan

Well let see when is ICS released Foote galaxy S2. There is no even ant sign of CM9. Earlier there was issue of mic not working during call. Now after release of the leak version, lots of stuff are working but unstable, but now no any news of CM9 for galaxy S2. It seems we have to depend on Samsung rather then cm9 team for ICS. Developers pls don't be hurt. Almost all devices are getting ICS except S2. It really feels bad that we are deprived of the same. Thanks

Hope you guys that live in Europe get the update Asap. Here in Latin America (Brazil), we will receive the update maybe on Q3 2012. But, i really hope that all of us can get CM9 before April.

Its actually samsung's fault they haven't got it working yet. Samsung hasn't released kernel sources yet. I think the main obstacle right now for cm9 is the RIL is unstable. Codeworkx said once they can stabilize that they'd probably have a beta soon after. Kernel sources would give the cm9 team what they need to get RIL stable. So when we get that or a leak with stable RIL we should get cm9. I totally believe the cm team will get to the finish line long before Samsung. The other devices already getting alphas and betas of cm9 must just be easier to get working. I've read the galaxy sII is "unique" to code for because of the hardware.

At this stage i have to say im a bit pissed off that we still haven't been given ICS for our SGSII why cant they just release all the necessary code required so developers can do their thing.

There's still a lot of work to be done by Sammy.
They can't release something they don't have - makes sense, doesn't it?
As for the second part of your statement: They did. KP1, nuff said.
Definitely for that carrier.
KP1 is already released and all the major functions work. So another month max it will take to release the stable version.
And I didn't pay 600 US$ to Devs, but Samsung, so it's their responsibility to release it at time, hence I don't give a damn what Devs are doing.
Still I think Samsung should take a little bit of extra time, if it's needed, it's far better to release a Stable version than releasing a non stable one in a hurry. Also Google said that they would like the manufacturers to use 4.0.3 as the base version, so I don't know if Samsung will give us 4.0.1 like KP1 or directly 4.0.3.
Google also wants 4.0.3 as the base version of Ice Cream Sandwich to be used by Android handset manufacturers.

[Mid-February] ISC update - variable dates from Asus

As i have been looking over the web, searching Asus's FB pages, there were some answers when TF101 will get ICS update.
But the problem is because different Asus people answer us differently.
NOTE! All quotes are from their FB pages, you can check them out.
Nr.1: From: "ASUS North America": soon. Its in the process of being approved by google. once that is done we will be able to push it out to you guys.
Nr.2: From: "ASUS": Possibly Feb. No confirmed dates at this point. -Mark, ASUS
Nr.3: From: "ASUS Serbia" Lepa vest za korisnike Transformer TF101. Ice Cream Sandwich za isti se očekuje polovinom februara. (meaning: we get it in mid Feb.)
So, what do you guys think? We get that ICS in mid feb, sooner or later?
I kinda bet its gonna be later than that
Signed.
id say somewhere between next week and mid February.
How about when we get it, we get it. There are so many threads dedicated to this topic already.
I don't think it will be mid February that's for a Serbia. I think Asia asus might be closer to truth.

I would have to say that this is just one too many threads about this update. Geez!
close this topic, asus has already announced the ICS update will be sometime during the last week of January (which also includes the first week of February). We can only wait and see if they are accurate.
Anyone think we will get strawberry shortcake before Dec 2012?

The Mayan didn't say anything about SSC. So i would say no.
Asus NA is right for NA consumers. Mid-February seems correct if you're living in Serbia. It has nothing to do with NA consumers since the launch appears to be staggered based on location.
So for NA consumers it's "soon". End of story.
I think it will come when Federer wins the Australian Open. Or when Nadal breaks another knee or something.

Although I can't find it right now, I remember reading one of Asus's facebook comments that said the US and Taiwan will get the update at the same time.
Asus Italia said at the END of february.... Anyway i think it will released at the end of this one.... i HOPE
Only when asus hears no more complaints from disgruntled transformer prime customers unable to update to ics due to "unknown serial number" debacle.
I suggest all those who are complaining daily about the delay of ICS jump over to the prime forum and see how much fun they are having with the ICS update. Yes I would like the ICS update, but not at the expense of the problems the prime folks are having. Maybe it is best we don't have it just yet.
Can't wait!
I voted never.
I dont expect anything from modern capitalist companies who care about numbers and not persons and dont give a damn about customers who created the base for the prime and the future autobot and so on....
the same applies to samsung with galaxy s and ics.
the 40 million that put samsung in the mobile map.
dont expect anything from modern casino-capitalism multinational companies.

That's a lot of hate, but i agree, if I were to own this company i'd do everything for charity, making a profit is overrated!
I don't know how focused they can be on updating the old-gen Transformer, but I guess they will update, since both are catering to different market segments, and you might want to get the cheaper TF101 if it's good enough for you even with the TF201 out.
That said, I'm sure they'll be using the Prime as an ICS Guinea pig. I voted for mid-February, and I guess we'll get several minor updates after it's out (whenever it's out) for bug fixing (as it's been the case so far).
Damnit Asus... Yesterday they said "Awaiting Google approval", and now they're saying Mid-February...

This is really not comparable. Their a200 is their newer tablet so it's really comparable to the Prime and therefore it's late. Prime had its ICS a long time ago.
On the other hand Acer's previous tablets like the a100 and a500 which are comparable to the TF101 (in terms of release date) have yet to see ICS. Chances are Asus will release ICS for TF101 before a100 or a500 get their ICS update and yet again Asus will beat them just like Asus beat them to the punch by releasing ICS on Prime before Acer could release ICS for the a200.

Yes point is Motorola did not say the xoom was going to get. Then push back the date four times. They simple release the update. Were as Asus simple talk and those not follow thru.
A200 is having Tegra 2 like TF101 and almost the same spec here.
I don't see why Asus is keep delaying on this when they first indicate Dec-11 then Jan-12 and now Feb-12.
I don't think Asus is putting any effort on ICS for TF101. Priority to them, to launch TF700 first and also fixing their quality issue on TF201.
Sorry to be negative on this, recently Asus is suck on their supplier chain, quality control and customer services. I think there are going downhill.
Just my 2-cents.
would it matter if asus said anything or not?
if they said nothing then the same folk that are whining about the time its taking for a release would then be moaning that asus doesnt love them as they havent publicly said the tf101 is going to get i.c.s and theyd never buy another asus product again.

Here's an idea, why not just wait patiently until ICS comes out, the *****ing, whining, and complaining will get you nowhere. When it comes out, it comes out. Rome wasn't built in a day.
Never has the noob/pro line been defined so clearly as this hahaha
pros know;
ICS in only on 1% of devices
Prime owners have more problems with ICS than anything
Asus does not know when Google will give it the Ok (or ask for revision, which I suspect what might be the case and they just learned their lesson to quit updating us because of the whining when setbacks occur)
No developer can tell you how long a particular piece of code will take to write/debug
When you get it, you realize it adds very few extra features, it's not like going from GB to ICS on a phone, we have HC, which is almost ICS, for all sake of argument
Flashing a modded ROM with an ICS theme actually will probably give you more options than the ICS update from Asus will.
Crying about it doesn't speed up the process, actually probably just makes them stop updating us if setbacks cause PR nightmares.
HAHAHA
Want ICS? try out Paul's AOSP port. It's pretty goddamned great.

+1 on that ive said several times and in several places paul alone is probably ahead of asus....lol.all im waitin on is the audio/video to get right and its my daily, i ran it for a good two days straight with very little problems and its definetly smoother and faster than HC.
AND to set the record straight i know i started the thread but it was far from whining, or *****ing i think its funny personally.
So much for "Google Approval" eh.
The ICS update for the Prime early was meant for it to be able to sell more tablets and to make it look more attractive over the TF101
You guys need to look at this as a positive, the Acer has very similar hardware, meaning Paul or one of the other devs can pull that build and get alot of things working in ICS for the TF.
This is a good thing!

you keep saying that and in other posts.

I understand that, nothing was meant towards you.
kara - I can see where luna is coming from, HC seems like an unfinished ICS to me. So I can see his POV on that. All in all, try paulburton's ICS ROM. I am still using it to this day, I can do almost everything on it.
duh course a200 is getting first
its new just like prime.
TF101 will get ICS by the end on feb for sure

Amen to that. I'm just as anxious as the rest of you and would rather have had ICS yesterday as opposed to tomorrow, but damn these threads are getting annoying!
