FIXED: G1 looses phone signial after a long time with wifi on. - G1 General

My G1 has no phone signial when wifi is on for a long time (standby for more then 10 hours).
When I turn wifi off I have full signial, why ?
I'm having this on cm 5.0.8 with the latest and previous radio, it's very annoying.
What can I do? Has CM6rc2 this bug ?

anyone has a possible solution?

I found this (It's in dutch), seems to be solved by some APN settings by some users for 3G (I have the message that I have edge=disconnected, but I don't even have edge or mobile internet)?
I use wireless (most of the time) and Jim mobile (for 3G)

-Advanced WiFi settings >> WiFi slaapbeleid >> Na 15 minuten

Samenvattend, vervelende probleem is allerminst opgelost.
contact formulier HTC Desire

I've got "type mobile network" (settings:status) shows edge, in use, connection disconnected (verbroken)
I think that when the phone looses wifi signial it tries to find the edge (which isn't there on my wireless SIM) and this give the connection problem, when I disable the wifi and re-enable wifi the edge searching is gone (and so is the connection problem).
Which APN settings should I use? (I have two SIMS from different providers, only one of them hase mobile internet)
Maybe this can be fixed by disable APN (widget), I'll try and see if I get this problem again in a few days.

Looks like this is a bug a lott of users have, it's only found on CM.

still the same.

I have it fixed now (flashed android 1.0 rc7), maybe it was because of the upgrade from hardspl to .2003, don't know, I never had any signial loss anymore, ever!

SFR Wap illimité avec Ipaq H6340

When I configure my wifi parameters and when I try to connect Ipaq h6340 select first the gprs connexion. How can I invert this default selection. :x

TYTN & WIFI

HI,
I hope someone could help me.
I have a problem with my TYTN.When I'm connected to WIFI and I tried to launch IE, TYTN launch a connection with GPRS instead of using WIFI  .
Do you know any tips or tricks to force a wifi connection when I'm using IE?
It occurs if the WIFI connection is not fully established.
When you say "I'm connected to Wifi", if you check by clicking on the icon in the upper bar, can you see "WIFI: connected to xxxx" ?
Hey man, I think you can save my life.
YEs I can see it and I'm also using wireless program to see the status of the WIFI and BT on the TOday screen. I'm really connected.
I'm also using SFR as a Provider an they charged me extra due to the fact that when I'm connecting to WIFI it launch a GPRS connection.
I really want to force the TYTN to use the wifi connection, I didn't had any problem with my old qtek9100.
If I remove all my connection setting then I can connect to Wifi.
Something is not proper set in my device.
BTW, Can You send me the cab that you used to set all your connection with SFR (WAP, WEB, MMS)?
Check under Settings - Connections - Connections, if your GPRS settings are set under "My ISP" or "My Work Network". If you don't need to use proxy servers I recommend you to put them under "My ISP", so you don't have troubles. Then go to "Advanced" and make sure that you have this settings:
Programs that automatically connect to the Internet should connect using: My ISP.
Programs that automatically connect to a private network should connect using: My Work Network.
Then go to Settings - Connections - Network Cards. Select your WIFI card, and make sure that you have this setting:
My Network card connects to: The Internet
BUT if you have your GPRS setting under "MY work network" then, here put "Work"), it just has to be _the same_ as in GPRS settings, so wifi is prefered over GPRS.
Hope that helps!

I configured manually, send me a MP if you want the full settings.
By the way, you can call SFR and tell them you have a v1640 and the will provide you the configuration step (even if it's not the same phone: HTC universal, it is the same parameters).
Thanks for yours replies.
But it still doesn't work, I have already modified to make work like Pof recommend it to me.
I also call to my provider to make set the internet connection properly.
But it is not working  I'm still have the GPRS connection when I'm connected to WIFI.

I forgot to say that you have to "disable" wifi and "enable" it again every time you do changes in the Network Card settings. Probably this is the problem, i don't know, if it is not this, then try doing a hardreset and setup everything again from the begining...
SORRY but I reply in french as it is easier for us. I'll post the translation later.
Hello !

Surf to internet from USB

Hallo all ......
I have connected the pda to the PC through usb and would want to be able to us to surf in Internet…. I have one net with ADSL and router and dhcp… With the wireless all ok… But through USB it does not want any to know… How I must shape the device?
Thank you
----------
Come devo configurare il dispositivo ??
when connected to activesync
and the pda set to use my network rather then my isp
it should have the same network connection as the pc
it dont matter if the pda is connected to activesync using bluetooth, usb or an old serial cable
USB
You can use internet sharing in start menu.dial up through there use gprs or
3g connection depend on your operator.
I think he wants to surf the internet on a trinity using a pc's connection and not vice versa...
It may be worth going into the PC version of AS, and in the Options settings, change the 'Connects To:' to 'The Internet' rather then 'Auto', which is the default.
I use it, but I've to disable "USB enhanced mode".

Can't connect to my belkin router

Hi,
I bought a new router http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=372043
along with a usb wirelless adapter http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=372137 and I can't connect to it with my 8525. It sees it with a perfect signal and available. I hit connect and says connecting then goes available again and after a couple of tries all available network showed unavailable. I need to reboot my cell phone to see wireless network again ... I connect to other network without any problem.
If you have any idea I will be more then pleased to hear them.
Thanks
Have you enabled any wireless security mode on the router wep or wep for example?
Yes, I have tried wep 64bit, wpa, wpa2 I even tried no security and they acted all the same. I tried every chanel 1 to 11. I have also updated the firmware with the U.K version which is the newest. Maybe there is a radio version which is compatible??

The radio stack that we can flash has nothing to do with wifi.
There are many reasons why the phone might not connect to a given wifi network. Some of them you seem to have checked.
Encryption (WEP, WPA, WPA2 with or without AES or TKIP)
MAC address filtering
DHCP address assignment
Occasionally my phone says that my wifi network isn't available when I know it is. Manually telling the phone to try to connect to it seems to kick it and it then sees the network.
Go figure, eh?
What/how is your network set up?
Are you using MAC filtering?
Does your ssid have any characters in it besides alphanumeric ones?
Is your network statically or dynamically assigning IP's?
Hi Jdc,
My connection type is dynamic. MAC Address Filtering is not enable. I have changed the ssid for c3rv0 . I am not sure to get what you mean by how my network's set-up ? I have a laptop wirelessly connected and a desktop connected through wire (and they both work).
Thanks guys !

What is the physical setup? Does to go from cable modem/dsl modem/OC3 demux to the belkin? Is there a switch involved anywhere in here?
You state that you have a lapdog talking to the LAN via wifi... What did you do to get that working?

What good will that do? The OP is having connectivity issues, not name resolution issues.
Hi Jdc,
Ok my isp is Videotron (cable). And I am wired from the modem to the router. I am a 100% sure it's the blekin cause I had another router just before I bought this one. It's a matter of settings I am pretty sure or compatibility... I took a look on google advanced search to seek through the forum and I don't seem to be the only one having this issue. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&as_q=belkin+router&as_epq=&as_oq=&as_eq=&num=10&lr=&as_filetype=&ft=i&as_sitesearch=http%3A%2F%2Fforum.xda-developers.com&as_qdr=all&as_rights=&as_occt=any&cr=&as_nlo=&as_nhi=&safe=images

Looking at the links you posted via the google search, turn off the N crap and make the wireless side of it use B and G only, if nothing else but testing.
Personally, I'm avoiding any N device. It's not a standard yet.

Att Tilt Cannot Connect To 3G Claro P.R

Hi, I Google this problem, but i can find anything, sorry if i repost
I just recently got a att tilt & i unlocked with olipro sim/cid unlocker.

The phone sometimes got a E, 3G, and that stuffs, but when i try to connect a pop-up error goes up ''cannot connect'' i dont know what to do Please if someone can help with this i gonna appreciate a lot. Thanks!!

Did you setup your network settings correctly to connect to Claro's APN instead of AT&T or whoever the phone originally came from?
Well i put the wap settings than the original phone they give me bring and thats the internet that i use. I don't know if is 3G or not.

Thx!!! The settings that i got was different. Thx So Much!!
I have the same problem but the settings appears to be for a non windows mobile phone I try the wap settings and work ok but the programs that need to connect automatically to the internet like the email softaware doesn't work. If some one know the correct setting for a wm phone please post it
I use in my connections ''internet.claropr.com" and it works fine.
I use it with email, internet & no problem.
And I have a tilt that is a WM phone.
what settings do you use for mms? if is possible make a walktrough. Thanks
Well i put the same settings are here:

But i dont know if works, because i don't have mms service in my plan
And for the internet settings i do this in my tilt:
1. In the connection area i make a new modem connection
2. I named "The Internet" and in a modem i select "Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G)
3. then in Access point name i write "internet.claropr.com"
4. in that page i leave everything in blank. finish
thanks a lot. I think that the problem isn't the phone is the claro account because I can connect with the wap apn but not with internet apn, I can browse the internet send mms but the email client and windows live services does not work. I make a research in the internet and appears that those services can't connect with a wap-proxy apn configuration. If you know something please let me know. I have the new "claro prepagado with internet plan"
If you have a phone with claro & a 3G data plan with them, the phone it suppose to bring the internet configuration already.
Anyway in my phone I just use "internet.claropr.com" and i can do everything.
I receive email, connect to windows live & internet without problem.
I test it and my internet doesn't work with "wap.claropr.com".
You should go to claro and ask them why you have that problem, because its weird and are you paying for that.

If you have internet with claro, you just put the internet info in the settings area of the phone. If you dont have data with them the phone is not gonna connect. Try to write the same internet setting that you have in your ericsson to the sciphone.

Connecting WiFi with G1 unlocked phone
I bought an unlocked G1 Phone on E-bay and finally configure it with Claro in Puerto Rico.
But I can't configure the WIFI.
This has something to do with the APN settings?
I think I don't have all the parameters.
Any help will be appreciated.

When you get this kind of problem, when programs that needs to connect to the internet can't connect and you have the internet.claropr.com APN configured on your phone, the problem could be that on the system your line doesn't have the INTNET service activated. You should call Customer Care *611 and ask if these two services are active and working: WAPG ( that's for wap browsing) and INTNET (that's for internet browsing and for using your phone as a modem).
Everyone here should check out that these services are activated on their accounts so they can get a good service. Also I have some questions to ask about the service:
1- What is your monthly usage in KB?
2- What is the fastest speed you get with Clara 3G?
3- Did you get very fast speeds in the beginning and then it got slower and slower?
This is because I think Claro Billing System penalizes customer who uses mora then certain quantity of KB by decreasing the peak speed to 128kbs.
Normally I use more than 5 million KB and my speeds are not as good as if I deactivates and activate the service
milito, thats not correct, i use over 500mb per month, and use my phone more for internet than to talk!! i have an xperia and were i live i get constant speeds of 700kb to 900kb, and sometimes have gotten over 1mb of speeds. The speeds depends were you live, if your are in regular 3g(umts) or in a hsdpa(3.5g) area. the phone could be in 3g and only be in umts and get slow speeds, only with hsdpa will you get the fast speeds that claro has to offer. Trust me i know plenty of this, besides the xperia i also have the ericcsson w20 internet modem with claro and they both get about the same speeds.
as for people having trouble with internet connection, they have to make sure that they have wap as well as the internet settings on their phones and activated on claros system. I dont think prepaid phones can have the internet activated, just regular wap, therefore some java programs wont work cause they use the internet settings. An example is Opera mini, it works only with internet.claropr.com not with wap.claropr.com, as well as other programs.
settings are correct as stated before by other user, if you have a smart phone or a pda, just put internet.claropr.com in APN and leave everything else blank, and it should work.
For the person with the sciphone, its the same, i had one and worked excellent with internet.claropr.com, but remember that it has to be enabled in the system at claro, not just wap.
ps: for those that do not have mms activated but have internet and still want to send pics to other claropr phones with your phones, you cant just make an email on your phone, attach the pic and send it to ##########@mms.claropr.com (replacing the # sign with the phone your gonna send it to) and they will receive the MMS.
Ok prking07, I stated that just as a thought because I was experiencing some problems that I have not experienced before with a 3g phone, by that time I had a Diamond, now I have an xperia and things are different, I know that speeds will depend on which technology you are using, but I was connecting to HSDPA and still got EDGE speeds that's why I was wondering about Claro imposing a penalty to high usage customers as AT&T and several carriers on the States do. As for the configuration mentioned before by other users they are correct but if you dont have INTNET active on your account you won't be able to browse the internet either on your phone or in your computer.
Regarding the wap browsing on the xperia, it does work for browsing the internet(Opera) on the phone but not for using the phone for modem.
