Everything work fine with my sim card from claro Puerto Rico, but i can't connect to 3G internet. The phone sometimes got a E, 3G, and that stuffs, but when i try to connect a pop-up error goes up ''cannot connect'' i dont know what to do Please if someone can help with this i gonna appreciate a lot. Thanks!!

Did you setup your network settings correctly to connect to Claro's APN instead of AT&T or whoever the phone originally came from?

Well i put the wap settings than the original phone they give me bring and thats the internet that i use. I don't know if is 3G or not.

Thx!!! The settings that i got was different. Thx So Much!!

I have the same problem but the settings appears to be for a non windows mobile phone I try the wap settings and work ok but the programs that need to connect automatically to the internet like the email softaware doesn't work. If some one know the correct setting for a wm phone please post it

I use in my connections ''internet.claropr.com" and it works fine.
I use it with email, internet & no problem.
And I have a tilt that is a WM phone.

what settings do you use for mms? if is possible make a walktrough. Thanks

Well i put the same settings are here:

But i dont know if works, because i don't have mms service in my plan
And for the internet settings i do this in my tilt:
1. In the connection area i make a new modem connection
2. I named "The Internet" and in a modem i select "Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G)
3. then in Access point name i write "internet.claropr.com"
4. in that page i leave everything in blank. finish

thanks a lot. I think that the problem isn't the phone is the claro account because I can connect with the wap apn but not with internet apn, I can browse the internet send mms but the email client and windows live services does not work. I make a research in the internet and appears that those services can't connect with a wap-proxy apn configuration. If you know something please let me know. I have the new "claro prepagado with internet plan"

If you have a phone with claro & a 3G data plan with them, the phone it suppose to bring the internet configuration already.
Anyway in my phone I just use "internet.claropr.com" and i can do everything.
I receive email, connect to windows live & internet without problem.
I test it and my internet doesn't work with "wap.claropr.com".
You should go to claro and ask them why you have that problem, because its weird and are you paying for that.

Do i need to create a data account if is yes how do i doit? Thanks again.

If you have internet with claro, you just put the internet info in the settings area of the phone. If you dont have data with them the phone is not gonna connect. Try to write the same internet setting that you have in your ericsson to the sciphone.

Connecting WiFi with G1 unlocked phone
I bought an unlocked G1 Phone on E-bay and finally configure it with Claro in Puerto Rico.
But I can't configure the WIFI.
This has something to do with the APN settings?
I think I don't have all the parameters.
Any help will be appreciated.

When you get this kind of problem, when programs that needs to connect to the internet can't connect and you have the internet.claropr.com APN configured on your phone, the problem could be that on the system your line doesn't have the INTNET service activated. You should call Customer Care *611 and ask if these two services are active and working: WAPG ( that's for wap browsing) and INTNET (that's for internet browsing and for using your phone as a modem).
Everyone here should check out that these services are activated on their accounts so they can get a good service. Also I have some questions to ask about the service:
1- What is your monthly usage in KB?
2- What is the fastest speed you get with Clara 3G?
3- Did you get very fast speeds in the beginning and then it got slower and slower?
This is because I think Claro Billing System penalizes customer who uses mora then certain quantity of KB by decreasing the peak speed to 128kbs.
Normally I use more than 5 million KB and my speeds are not as good as if I deactivates and activate the service

milito, thats not correct, i use over 500mb per month, and use my phone more for internet than to talk!! i have an xperia and were i live i get constant speeds of 700kb to 900kb, and sometimes have gotten over 1mb of speeds. The speeds depends were you live, if your are in regular 3g(umts) or in a hsdpa(3.5g) area. the phone could be in 3g and only be in umts and get slow speeds, only with hsdpa will you get the fast speeds that claro has to offer. Trust me i know plenty of this, besides the xperia i also have the ericcsson w20 internet modem with claro and they both get about the same speeds.
as for people having trouble with internet connection, they have to make sure that they have wap as well as the internet settings on their phones and activated on claros system. I dont think prepaid phones can have the internet activated, just regular wap, therefore some java programs wont work cause they use the internet settings. An example is Opera mini, it works only with internet.claropr.com not with wap.claropr.com, as well as other programs.
settings are correct as stated before by other user, if you have a smart phone or a pda, just put internet.claropr.com in APN and leave everything else blank, and it should work.
For the person with the sciphone, its the same, i had one and worked excellent with internet.claropr.com, but remember that it has to be enabled in the system at claro, not just wap.
ps: for those that do not have mms activated but have internet and still want to send pics to other claropr phones with your phones, you cant just make an email on your phone, attach the pic and send it to ##########@mms.claropr.com (replacing the # sign with the phone your gonna send it to) and they will receive the MMS.

Ok prking07, I stated that just as a thought because I was experiencing some problems that I have not experienced before with a 3g phone, by that time I had a Diamond, now I have an xperia and things are different, I know that speeds will depend on which technology you are using, but I was connecting to HSDPA and still got EDGE speeds that's why I was wondering about Claro imposing a penalty to high usage customers as AT&T and several carriers on the States do. As for the configuration mentioned before by other users they are correct but if you dont have INTNET active on your account you won't be able to browse the internet either on your phone or in your computer.
Regarding the wap browsing on the xperia, it does work for browsing the internet(Opera) on the phone but not for using the phone for modem.

Cingular GPRS

Can anyone help me with getiing my GPRS to work when not in the cradle...I used the information on Cingular's Development site and still no luck...I would like to use the device like my old phone, push the "i" and I was connected...any help would be greatly appreciated.

ROM A.30.09 ENG
Radio Version A.33.02

I get The cannot connect, make sure your phone is on or check your settings...
Download newest T-Mo Radio Stack (get from http links in announcment posting) Manually upgrade you radiostack (See threads/search tool for "upgrade downgrade radiostack) you will find enough info after reading a little to make this work. Prob is that ATT radio 1.3.3 proto' does not work on Cing/T-Mo network. You can leave your current ROM, but might want to switch all together to the new T-Mo stuff.

Hi,
How do you like your XDA with Cingular? I am in NYC and can only get 1 to 2 bars with an ok recpetion. Are you using media works as well?
Cant get Cingular GPRS to work...assitance?
Had an old T-mobile pocket PC...unlocked it and flashed XDA Developrs ROM. What are the settings for GPRS, I have the wireless Cingular Media Package
ROM 3.17.03 ENG
ROM Date 5/15/03
Radio 6.18.99
Protocol 324E4
Still Lost
If someonecan email me or pm about this config. on Cingular Service. I am just having a hard time getting the GPRS/ WAP/Internet to connect. I am using a SX56. Plaese Help Someone! :?

APN: wap.cingular

This is what I use for my GPRS connection with media works. Does your sx56 has a triangle, raoming, icon on?
I am having problmes regitering my xda I on the Cingular netowrk here in Atlanta. Cingular operate here on the 850 band and, while my device can see the T-Mo and ATT networks, I cannot register on either one. I see that folks in this post have connected to Cingular. Are they operating at 1900 in your areas?
I am in NYC and Cingular still operates under GSM 1900. I am not quite sure whether they will start to move away from GSM 1900 to GSM 850 anytime soon, but we are switching to T-mo in october.
Switching is probably a good idea. Right now Cingular are preventing roaming if a native 850 band network is available. If you travel, you will probably have problems...
Changing the sequence
Has anyone that is on Cingular tried to change the sequence of the network search once connected. Phone-->Tools-->Options-->Network-->Set Networks and then check the T-Mobile and AT&T boxes and move them to the top. That should theoretically change the search function for the networks. I.e. look for the T-mob and ATT networks and try to connect prior to looking at the Cingular ones.
Just a thought...
I am in Dallas and they are 850 around here so I have not had a chance to try this myself... but seemed logical.
Dustoff
There are a couple of reasons for us switching to T-mo:
- Hopefully by OCT family plan will still be $9.99 with unlimited Mo to Mo (I think Cingular $9.99 might not be around for that long)
- $19.99 unlimited internet plan anyway you want to use but not abuse it
- GSM 1900 MHZ
- My local sub dealer offers way better deal for T-mo phones
I am hoping that by october P800 will be free and P900 could be on a sub $150 for 1st line and a free V300 for my wife line.
Does anyone know whether this unlimited $19.99 is good for both Blackberry (I will register with t-mo and blackberry.net), cell/pda phone, pcmcia card for laptop and phone connect to laptop via usb/infared? or Do I need to purchase $19.99 for blackberry and another $19.99 for the rest?
Please advise.
I have a new SX56 and used all your settings but no luck
I have used all your settings. I still cann't get connect with cingular.
Does anyone know how to get the configurator on the simens website to send a configuration for sx56 even though they don't support it.
I know the sx1 is list on the site. Is there anyway to modifiy the config of the sx1 to match the sx56 ?
Any suggestions ?

Hi Abohsali
Many thanks for the data! I am assuming that Cingular are operating at 1900 in you area and not 850. Is that correct? Or are these settings allowing you to roam on another providers network, while still using the Cingular sim card. (you are using a cingular sim, correct?)
Regards
Chris
Hi Abohsali,
The WAP Settings works. Thanks, but the GPRS settings don't. I don't know why. I could connect my AOL Instan Messenger but when I try to check my email, it tried to connect to the GPRS.
Any idea? I'm getting tired calling Cingular, they have no clue. Thinking of switching to T-Mobile
Still can't get GSRP with my Simens SX56 (Cingular Network)
I have tried everything I've see here and at Cingular developer site.
I even printed out the paper forum. Cingular(http://alliance.cingularinteractive.com/dev/cda/home) and from this site.
Does anyone have a Siemens SX56 phone using GPRS??
I would love to know what the correct settings are.
When I try to connect I get the following:
The answering modem had disconnected. To check your connection settings and change them if need, tap settings
Help ?? Still can't get GSRP with my Simens SX56
Is anyone ready this ?? Can I get a little help
I finally got both GPRS and WAP to work. Funny thing is that IE could open wap sites if I'm on the WAP network and AOL Instant Messenger could also be run with WAP network.
GPRS is not bad in speed, I could get it to open with IE and turned off the images so it doesn't use a lot of bandwidth and loads faster.
I use the settings from above, but it only works after I called Tech Support to have my account Provisioned. So they did, and when I browse around with IE using the WAP network, a message pop up on the browser saying that Wireless Internet Express is ready to use, click on Activate.
So I did and voila, it works like a charm. I also bought IP Dashboard to monitor how much bandwidth I'm taking whenever I use GPRS. While WAP uses my minutes.
Thanks again Abohsali.
Tips for you guys...
Here's a tip for you guys...
If you use the Pay As You Go Wireless Internet Express (WIX) then the settings above will work as long as you call Technical Support to provision your account. Then the GPRS settings above will work.
But, if you go with Media Works, the unlimited one with Unlimited Wireless Internet Express, then the settings above won't work. But interestingly, the WAP works for downloading email. Before, with Pay As You Go WIX, I have to switch to GPRS to download email. Now I just stay in WAP.
The good thing being in GPRS is that it uses your data connect only, not your minutes. While WAP uses your minutes, but not data. Someone here could correct me if I'm wrong?
Is WAP without WIX free, or is there a $ .01 /kb charge?
How much does the unlimited plan cost?
Whoops, hadn't realise you were in Indonesia

T-MOBILE USA GPRS HELP

Hi, i finally got the unlock code from Tmobile and i am now able to use my phone.
I am trying to setup the GPRS with Tmobile USA. I went onle and found some information, put it in and setup GPRS, but it does not seem to work. When i try to open a wap site with the GPRS, like wap.yahoo.com, it does not come up.
I do not pay for the GPRS, but from what i heard, with out devices, we can use it free, but not full web functionality. We can use pop, imap and stuff, and also get mms, and access wap site. Please if any one knows any configurations that work it will be greatly appreciated.
Try setting up your Proxy settings.
They changed their network requirement recently for Port 80 (HTTP). Be nice if they told everyone though!
Proxy setting should be:
216.155.165.50 on port 8080
According to the Tmobile sites I've frequented, there is no such thing as "free web" anymore and it disappeared months ago. Last time I checked personally, the cheapest you could get away with is the T-Zones data plan....whatever they call it now. I think it's 6 or 7 dollars a month and lets you use wap.voicestream.com as an access point. If you do that and use the proxy server 216.155.165.50, port 8080, you can get to most of the web. Recently, however, I've been reading that even that loophole is slowly being closed by area so while it mght work for me, it may not for you and it might not work for me tomorrow. You can certainly try it using the above access point and proxy setting, but don't be surprised if it does nothing without your paying for a data package.
Yeah, it seems they are slowly shutting down that "function" as mine works sporadically now. Damn. It was a bargain at $4.99/month for the last yr or so
yep - welcome to my world of 10 USD for 2MB a month ! :-(
A bargain indeed. I'm waiting to see if you can do the proxy workaround with your own proxy server. I've had the $20/mo package for ages and it's well worth it but my wife and son have the $5/mo package and use Tmo's http for web access and my own socks proxy for MSN Messenger. A fixed IP address is a big help but you might be able to get away with using dyndns.org for that, too. I guess we'll find out soon as more and more people find out they're starting to get what they paid for.
Well i'm sort of bummed out right now.
My t-mobile Tzones unlimited internet is working again, if I use the proxy. That's dandy. If I turn on my WI-FI and connect to my home wifi, however, I have to go into connections and turn off the proxy for my tmobile gprs in order for me to connect to the internet.
Perhaps I'm doing something horribly wrong, or is this the only way to do it? Please let me know.........
questionable
I have tried all i know, the proxy is blocking my wifi from connecting to the net, so i had to take it out. It says i am connected but i cannot seem to pull up any site, so i paid for the $5.99 t-zone deal, it says it might take a while to provision.
Now i am trying to test the connection by sending MMS, it has been a while i usually don't send MMS. How do i send MMS to a friend in london, i'm in the states, i know it is their mobile [email protected], just don't know what the something is. I know the US version is [email protected]. Thanks.
Also, my MDA PRo gives me an option of WAP1.2 or WAP 2.0, what is the diffrence?

Walk into a tmobile store and tell them that you want to pay for a sidekick plan for a compatible euro piece of hardware.
It will cost you $30 usd but its unlimited gprs
Create a new connection and use wap.voicestream.com as the access point. You might still have to call tech support if you don't bring the universal with you because the way I understand it, they ping the simchip and grab the IMEI over the air...may be better to just bring it.
Works great for me. I pop my verizon dsl mail all day with this baby

P3600 in USA, T-Mobile

Does anyone have any experiance in using P3600 in USA with T-Mobile? In particular, I am having hard time getting to Internet and receiving MMS messages.
Because of the specifics of the USA cell and PDA market, getting a PDA working with a service provider (if you don't buy it from the service provider itself) can be tough. I have set up my Trinity to connect to EDGE, it shows the "E" on the top of the bars, but it still has a hard time browsing the Internet. There is not much help offered on their website, so I was hoping may be someone has had an experience setting it for T-Mobile.
Any help would be appreciated.
Nerses
you'll probably have to call T-Mobile and get their MMS and internet settings, or it might be somewhere on their website.
I have set it according to their instructions here: http://support.t-mobile.com/knowbase/root/public/tm21625.htm?
That shows my phone connected to EDGE by I am still not able to access the Internet.
I've just spent a week in the USA with my Orange M700 - everything worked fine, probably gonna have some horrible roaming bills though as it's still on the original orange account
I'm in the US on T-Mobile, no problem with Internet. The only thing I had to do was enter the server address -- internet2.voicestream.com, and all works.
MMS has been a bit more trying. I do get inbound notifications of MMS coming in, but haven't played around with it enough to get it working. Then again, I don't use MMS so it hasn't been a pressing issue. I'll play with it tomorrow and see what I get.
dada21,
Connecting to internet2.voicestream.com helped! Thank you.
On T-Mobile website they were suggesting connecting to wap.voicestream.com and using a proxy server. But once I took out the proxy server and used the server you suggested it worked fine.
With the MMS messages- yes, I get only the inbound notifications too. Don't get the actual message.
Glad internet2 worked for you.
Getting MMS working was a *****. Here's what I did:
I set up a new connection under "Work" to wap.voicestream.com
Under Messaging, MMS, settings:
Gateway: 216.155.165.50
Port: 9201
Server address: http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
Connect via: Work
Sending size limitation: 248K
WAP version: WAP 1.2
I received MMS perfectly but didn't test sending yet.
Let us know how it works for you.

Afghanistan MTN (Areeba) Settings?

I've got an unlocked AT&T Tilt running Ultimate X V6 rom.
I'm in lowgar afghanistan and I'm trying to configure my phone to connect to their access point. I called them up and they gave me the following information...
APN: internet.mtn.com.af
User: wap
Pass: wap
number: *99***1#
ip 192.168.4.145
I've setup two separate connections (one using the APN name via gprs and one using the dial in number via cellular line) neither one seems to work.
I don't know what to do with the ip... I'm thinking it's a proxy for their internal wap sites but who knows...
I've disabled HSPDA. When I try to connect to the APN I get a message that there is no modem on the line. when I connect to the number I get a message that it cannot connect for an unknown reason.
Does anyone here have working settings for MTN afghan? Or know what I need to do to make this work?
Areeba
Don't use the username or password. All you need to program is the APN and proxy. I am not sure how familiar you are with Windows Mobile, but plugging in those two will take you where you want to go. Have been using Areeba internet on my unlocked T-Mobile Wing for 3 months and all is well.
RE: MTN Afghanistan
I am using MTN Areeba with Nokia 95 8GB,
I got settings from Network and it works fine.

[Question] Dutch Vodafone 3G - HTC Tytn II

Goodday,
My Boss has a Tytn II.
And uses the dutch Vodafone.
Its not connecting to the internet or exchange email.
I have tried:
Windows auto wizard - No success
Manually according to website - No success
I have tried both with and without proxy
And tried both with PAP and CHAP authentication.
But it cant connect.
Is there anyone who knows what this could be?
p.s. when text messaging 1300 - internet
I get a stupid sms back with an URL.....
You could try connecting the TytnII to a pc with USB cable and thus using the pc's internet connection through Activesinc. Then the URL should work.
I have an TyTNII on the dutch Vodafone network. No problem, internet and exchange access both work. So if the activesinc method doesn't work for you maybe check these settings:
I did have to change the Access Point (Toegangspunt) from live.vodafone.com to office.vodafone.nl (username: vodafone, pw: vodafone) though. But that depends on your account type.
In my case the connection uses the proxy: 192.168.251.150
Hope this helps, good luck.
