Can't connect to my belkin router - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Hi,
I bought a new router http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=372043
along with a usb wirelless adapter http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=372137 and I can't connect to it with my 8525. It sees it with a perfect signal and available. I hit connect and says connecting then goes available again and after a couple of tries all available network showed unavailable. I need to reboot my cell phone to see wireless network again ... I connect to other network without any problem.
If you have any idea I will be more then pleased to hear them.
Thanks

Have you enabled any wireless security mode on the router wep or wep for example?

Yes, I have tried wep 64bit, wpa, wpa2 I even tried no security and they acted all the same. I tried every chanel 1 to 11. I have also updated the firmware with the U.K version which is the newest. Maybe there is a radio version which is compatible??

The radio stack that we can flash has nothing to do with wifi.
There are many reasons why the phone might not connect to a given wifi network. Some of them you seem to have checked.
Encryption (WEP, WPA, WPA2 with or without AES or TKIP)
MAC address filtering
DHCP address assignment
Occasionally my phone says that my wifi network isn't available when I know it is. Manually telling the phone to try to connect to it seems to kick it and it then sees the network.
Go figure, eh?
What/how is your network set up?
Are you using MAC filtering?
Does your ssid have any characters in it besides alphanumeric ones?
Is your network statically or dynamically assigning IP's?

Hi Jdc,
My connection type is dynamic. MAC Address Filtering is not enable. I have changed the ssid for c3rv0 . I am not sure to get what you mean by how my network's set-up ? I have a laptop wirelessly connected and a desktop connected through wire (and they both work).
Thanks guys !

What is the physical setup? Does to go from cable modem/dsl modem/OC3 demux to the belkin? Is there a switch involved anywhere in here?
You state that you have a lapdog talking to the LAN via wifi... What did you do to get that working?

What good will that do? The OP is having connectivity issues, not name resolution issues.

Hi Jdc,
Ok my isp is Videotron (cable). And I am wired from the modem to the router. I am a 100% sure it's the blekin cause I had another router just before I bought this one. It's a matter of settings I am pretty sure or compatibility... I took a look on google advanced search to seek through the forum and I don't seem to be the only one having this issue. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&as_q=belkin+router&as_epq=&as_oq=&as_eq=&num=10&lr=&as_filetype=&ft=i&as_sitesearch=http%3A%2F%2Fforum.xda-developers.com&as_qdr=all&as_rights=&as_occt=any&cr=&as_nlo=&as_nhi=&safe=images

Looking at the links you posted via the google search, turn off the N crap and make the wireless side of it use B and G only, if nothing else but testing.
Personally, I'm avoiding any N device. It's not a standard yet.

TYTN & WIFI

HI,
I hope someone could help me.
I have a problem with my TYTN.When I'm connected to WIFI and I tried to launch IE, TYTN launch a connection with GPRS instead of using WIFI  .
Do you know any tips or tricks to force a wifi connection when I'm using IE?
It occurs if the WIFI connection is not fully established.
When you say "I'm connected to Wifi", if you check by clicking on the icon in the upper bar, can you see "WIFI: connected to xxxx" ?
Hey man, I think you can save my life.
YEs I can see it and I'm also using wireless program to see the status of the WIFI and BT on the TOday screen. I'm really connected.
I'm also using SFR as a Provider an they charged me extra due to the fact that when I'm connecting to WIFI it launch a GPRS connection.
I really want to force the TYTN to use the wifi connection, I didn't had any problem with my old qtek9100.
If I remove all my connection setting then I can connect to Wifi.
Something is not proper set in my device.
BTW, Can You send me the cab that you used to set all your connection with SFR (WAP, WEB, MMS)?
Check under Settings - Connections - Connections, if your GPRS settings are set under "My ISP" or "My Work Network". If you don't need to use proxy servers I recommend you to put them under "My ISP", so you don't have troubles. Then go to "Advanced" and make sure that you have this settings:
Programs that automatically connect to the Internet should connect using: My ISP.
Programs that automatically connect to a private network should connect using: My Work Network.
Then go to Settings - Connections - Network Cards. Select your WIFI card, and make sure that you have this setting:
My Network card connects to: The Internet
BUT if you have your GPRS setting under "MY work network" then, here put "Work"), it just has to be _the same_ as in GPRS settings, so wifi is prefered over GPRS.
Hope that helps!

I configured manually, send me a MP if you want the full settings.
By the way, you can call SFR and tell them you have a v1640 and the will provide you the configuration step (even if it's not the same phone: HTC universal, it is the same parameters).
Thanks for yours replies.
But it still doesn't work, I have already modified to make work like Pof recommend it to me.
I also call to my provider to make set the internet connection properly.
But it is not working  I'm still have the GPRS connection when I'm connected to WIFI.

I forgot to say that you have to "disable" wifi and "enable" it again every time you do changes in the Network Card settings. Probably this is the problem, i don't know, if it is not this, then try doing a hardreset and setup everything again from the begining...
SORRY but I reply in french as it is easier for us. I'll post the translation later.
Hello !

My MDA touch finds my new belkin n router but wont connect to it

Hi all
Ive just brough a new belkin wireless n router set it up as you should connected my laptop my brothers laptop my desktop my ipod touch but my MDA touch will not connect to it. My touch connects to my other trendnet router fine and all other AP i have tryed. what is really bugging me is that when i try and connect to my new belkin it wont let me connect to any other routers so i have to delete the belkin router from my device and soft reset
i am starting to think it could be a faulty router or mda
Same boat....
I have the same issue with my HTC Kaiser, can see a host of AP/Wireless Routers via the Wi-Fi card but fails to connect to my Belkin F5D8631-4 v3 N1 Wireless Modem Router, a real pain in the arse considering the price I paid for the router, everything else connects, PC's, PS3, 360, DS Lite, PSP the lot....all bar the Kaiser.
Anyone managed to find a solution to this issue and sitting on it
Before you ask, no security enabled, only using the MAC address filtering to do the job of keeping unwanted off my network, even with this turned off the Kaiser see the network, flags it up as available but will not connect....
Any help gratefully received

I bought a sitecom mimo XR router, I have got the same problem with a Qtek 9090.
The solution I found is, dont activate dhcp on your device but manually add the ip adresses of your router and device, set the dns server ip-adress to the ip-adress of your device.
Worked for me.

Thanks for the feedback/comments
I have done (I think) correctly and its still not playing ball, just to confirm the actual detail:
Router Set Up:
DHCP Activated ? (it is currently)
All WEP/WPA turned off
MAC address filtering turned on and the MAC adress for the hand set network card (found by
on to Com Manager, Settings, Wireless Lan, Advanced Tab) is on the list on accepted MAC address on the MAC filter
Handset Settings
Wireless Network Adapter settings (on Configure Network Adapters page)
IEEE 802.11b/g Compatible Wi-Fi
User Specific IP address 192.168.2.50 (not an address allocated by DHCP)
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway 192.168.2.1 (IP address of the Router)
Primary DNS 192.168.2.1 (IP address of the Router)
I get the same sort of problem occasionaly with my universal. The only thing that sorts it out is deleting any reference to the connection then removing the battery. This seems to flush out the system & then it finds it a new connection & connects straight away, worth a try if nothing else works.

Guys,
Does anyone has a solution so far?
What version of Windows mobile are you running?
This post in the Shift forum

mentions a beta firmware on Belkins UK site which solves the problem.
hi, i'm using a mda vario 3 with an older Belkin router and it works fine. I have the dhcp server turned off with all the ip's set manually. the ieee 802.1 auth thingy is not selected. other than that my settings are similar to those posted above. Although i have wep security set up. (Nintendo ds's only do wep)

I have an HTC Touch that can connect to other hotspots, but not to my home Belkin router. Sometimes, if there is another connection available, it can see the router, and says that it is Available, but cannot connect; other times it won't even see it. I have checked for firmware updates, but I have the latest. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Belkin Response Nov 14 2008 22:18
Hi Lilburd,
Thank you for contacting Belkin Technical Support.
We understand that the HTC Touch does not connect to the router. We apologize for the inconvenience caused.
Please follow the steps given below to update the firmware and configure the router:
We recommend that you update the firmware from a computer that is connected to the router with an ethernet cable.
Please download the latest firmware on the router from the link given below. Download the file "3.01.29":
http://www.belkin.com/uk/support/article/?lid=enu&pid=F5D8233uk4&aid=10288&scid=0
and save it to the computer.
- To update the firmware, log on to the router`s web interface by typing in http://192.168.2.1 in the address bar of the browser. The computer should be
connected to the router with an ethernet cable.
Note: If you have changed your Router’s IP address, use that IP address.
- By default, the password is blank. Click the "Submit" button.
- Click on "Firmware Upgrade" under the option "Utilities".
- Click on “Browse” and select the bin file that you have downloaded.
- Click on “update” and follow the wizard.
- After updating the firmware, restore the router to factory defaults by clicking on "Restore Factory Defaults" under "Utilities".
- Reconfigure the router.
Please follow the steps given below for configuring the router:
- Connect the computer to the "LAN" port on the router and connect the modem to the Internet/"WAN" port, using Ethernet cables.
- Take a paper clip, insert the paper clip in the reset hole of the router and hold it for 15 seconds.
- The power light will flash and then come back "ON" solid, indicating that the router is being restored to factory defaults.
- The corresponding lights on the front of the router should be lit up.
- On the computer, check if you have an IP address in the range of 192.168.2.x.
- If not, specify a static IP address, gateway and "DNS" address by following the steps given in the link-
http://web.belkin.com/support/kb/kb.asp?a=2824
- Log on to the router web interface by typing in http://192.168.2.1, in the address bar of your browser.
- By default, the password is blank.
- Click on "Connection Type" in the left hand column under "Internet WAN" heading.
If the connection type is Dynamic (cable):
- Choose "Dynamic" and then click on "Next".
- Type in your “Host Name”, if your Internet Service Provider has provided it. Else, leave it blank.
- Click on "Change WAN MAC Address".
- Click on the button "Clone".
- Click on "Apply Changes".
If the connection type is PPPOE (DSL):
- Choose "PPPOE" and click on "Next".
- Enter the user name and password given by your Internet Service Provider.
- Save the settings.
- Click on the "Home" link at the top of the screen.
Internet Status should show "Connected" on the top right hand corner of the web page.
If the problem persists, please get back to us with the following information:
1. Type of connection provided by your ISP (Is it PPPOE, Dynamic or static).
2. Name of the Internet service provider (ISP).
3. Version number of the router. You would find the version number on the bottom of the device. It would be a number in a series of thousands with a prefix “ver.”.
4. If the internet connection is stable on the computers using the router?
5. If the HTC Touch detects and connects to other networks in the neighborhood?
Lilburd, if you need further assistance please feel free to write back to us and we will be happy to assist you.
Regards,
Belkin Technical Support.
This was the response I got from Belkin after emailing them. It worked like a charm
Registry option
Not Sure about this one, but if you use SK Tools, or find the registry values yourself, there is an option to activate on the Touch, the 801 g networks compatibility, for some reason they are compatible but the option comes 'off' by default.
Paul
THANK YOU - Wizard 9100 now connecting to belkin N1
thank you - I had the same problem as original post - I updated using the pre release belkin firmware and it works now.
Excellent!
I was pretty sure that it was an incompatibility issue between HTC and Belkin.
Thanks a lot for this patch, you saved my (wifi) life ^^
This update also worked with my Kaiser! I was pulling my hair out trying to get it to connect. Thanks a lot!

Pls Help! No WLAN with DLink DI 614+ and Touch HD

Hi,
I have a DLink WLAN Router DI 614+ at home and I just can't connect to the Internet with my touch HD. I'm using WEP 128bit encryption (The Router doesn't support WPA). The HD WLAN manager says that I'm connected to the WLAN, but I just can't access the Internet, neither with ie, opera, opera mini, weather update etc...
With my old ASUS P535 and my notebook the WLAN (and Internet) connection works fine, and other way round, i can also access other WEP encrypted WLANs (and Internet) with the HD... only the combination of the HD and my home WLAN with the DI614+ just won't work... (I also don't have any mac adress filtering active, and looking onto the router setup from the pc, the DHCP page says that the Touch HD is connected)
any hints, ideas or experiences?
Thank You,
regards jan
Have you tried changing the WLAN settings to "best performance"?
Take a look at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=447415, maybe some of the tips there will help.
Regards
K_Hismoom
thank's, i'll try the "best performing" setting at home and report tomorrow...
i have tried the "best performance" setting yesterday, but it didn't change anything... still connected to the router, average to good signal strength but no connection to the internet... are there any special ports which must be opened for the HD? (as already said, the asus p535 did well on my router without changing anything, and the HD works in other wlans, too)...
any more ideas?
regards jan
somebody in the ppc-welt.inf forum has the same problem with the same router and doesn't know a solution either... here is a link to the data sheet of the router, maybe somebody who knows more than me about wireless networking may find a reason or hint for incompatibility...

I used the DI-614+ router and was unable to establish a WPA2-encrypted connection with a Touch Diamond. Finally I replaced it with a compact Linksys WRT54GC and have no WiFi connectivity problems neither with Diamond nor with Touch HD.

PPC need to manually configure the IP address, subnet mask, DNS server and Gateway
Can use the ping (your ppc's ip address) to see if there is significant also in HD on the browser using the IP address visit the router , if it can be a normal, then check dns server, if not consider IP gateways and encryption settings. try cancel your encryption settings.

HTC Touch HD to WiFi Secured - doesn't connect

Hi, I have HTC Touch HD New. I have home wireless secured router DHCP with (WPA2 Mixed) with paraphrase While trying to connect I ran through wizard to connect to my wireless no luck. Then gave static IP , changed WPA2 to WPA/TKP, changed channel from 5 to 11 no response, stopped Firewall, anything what can be done with router did…..no connection. The HD sees the network, but refuse to connect. Although, I am able to connect to an unsecured networks. All other media that connected to my wireless network works fine. Also I have noticed that wile running wizard the: "Use IEE8021x network access control" is checked and gray so I am unable to uncheck it. Maybe here is the problem.. no clue. Appreciate any suggestion.
Hi,
I can confirm I have the same problem.
Not only with Touch HD but also with HTC Rapheal.
If I find a solution I will let you know.
I had this problem too. In the wizard you have to specify it as a 'worknetwork', not 'internet'. The 'internet' option is for public (secured) networks like on a café. Then again, maybe you did this already. I have a WEP encryption.
You might also want to check, if your HD connects at all by turning off encryption in your WLAN router.
If your HD connects fine, then check in Advanced Config under the "Network" section, if you have WPA authentication enabled. My ROM had this disabled. After I enabled this option and made a soft-reset, my HD could connect to my WPA2(AES) secured network.
If everything else fails, you might try this free supplicant: http://www.securew2.com/products/
Please, report back if and how you resolved the problem !
None of the sugestions here (post #3, #4 and #5) solved my problem.
It's still not possible to connect to a secured network.
Tried without MAC filtering and vissible network but no joy.
I use WPA-PSK with a network key.
Unsecured it connects fine.

I had the same problem with my Linksys Wrt54g Router using WPA-PSK, no matter what I tried it just would not connect. Without encryption or WEP encryption it worked just fine. Did set Wifi to performance oriented on the HD since that seems to have helped others but still no success.....
Here's the rub: I had installed Schaps Advanced Config tool before and had enabled WPA authentication under network. In a last attempt I set WPA Auth. to disabled, did a soft reset.....activated Wifi, entered my (27 character) passphrase and...my HD connects to my router using WPA-PSK and MAC-filtering without a problem...so that might be worth checking as well...
i hav no problem conneting my blackstone to my linksys wrt610 router using wpa2-aes. maybe you hav ur mac adres filtering turned on
just my 2 cents
Ditto post #8..
I have just connected for the first time to my work network, WPA-PSK(AES) and it connected fine without any problems.
Switched on CM, waited for the phone to list the networks, selected the one I needed and then choose "work" for connection and entered our passphrase. Sync'd up without a hitch.
Just to put this out there - do not connect your phone to the pc when trying to go wifi. It is disabled when activsync is... active.
Hi,
Thanks for the help.
Yes MAC filter is enabled but I've added the adress of HD to the list so it should work.
Today I've changed the channel in my Zyxel router to channel 11 and ques what....
IT WORKS FINALLY !
Channel 11 I choose because that's what the Touch HD chooses in WLan settings.
Maybe this helps for other people as well.
Edit;
A small update to mention.
I have two devices here, Touch Pro and Touch HD.
They both connect fine now.
Also the Touch Pro seems to pick channel 11 as default channel !
I would love to see someone confirms this because it was a real bugger to me.
Edit 2;
With MAC filter enabled both devices won't connect.
Weird thing is, both devices have the same MAC adres !

Are you sure you're seeing it correctly??? MAC addresses are unique, just as telephone numbers are unique to the phone system. Same concept. No two wifi devices are supposed to have the same mac address...
I was having the same issue: not being able to connect my HD to my wireless network. Very frustrating... Then I remembered I use a controlled Access List, on my wireless router, based on MAC addresses. Once I put my HD's MAC in the list, I was able to connect.
I made a mistake.
I connected both devices to the desktop with Active sync to find out MAC.
If I give the command 'IPCONFIG /ALL' both WM devices have the same physical adress,
but after I succesfull made a wifi connection (without MAC filter) with both devices,
I noticed that the MAC adresses are different on both devices in the router config window.
I've added both adresses to MAC filter and enable.
Now everything is up and running !

In a last attempt I set WPA Auth. to disabled, did a soft reset.....activated Wifi, entered my (27 character) passphrase and...my HD connects to my router using WPA-PSK and MAC-filtering without a problem...so that might be worth checking as well...

thank you!
it seems that the problem occurs after instaling advanced config 3.3, wich i did yesterday. for some reason it seems it mess the wifi settings.
thanks again!
i still have another problem, wich i have it since i bought the hd
i connect my laptop to my wifi router and it works great. i connect my hd to my wifi router and it works (again) great
but if i connect my hd to my laptop via usb and activesync, my laptop lose wifi connection. i reconnect it, keeps connection for few seconds and it loose it again.
any advice?
thank you!
Confirmed...
Had the same problem, Advanced Config WPA disabled works like a charm, if you enable it it actually disables it...
I connect to a Linksys broadband router with Mac filtering and WEP with no problems. Too lazy to try WPA2 because I'll have to reconfigure 3 PC's and two wireless printers. If I do try WPA(2), I post here.
I have WPA2-PSK with mac filtering and ssid broadcasting disabled. And I never had any problems, my router is linksys wag200 if it matters. Maybe you just do something wrong?

Note: This may be in a slightly different place in ActiveSync on XP.
I have Windows Mobile Device Center on Vista and I had the same trouble until I went to Mobile Device Settings > Connection Settings > check "Allow data connections on device when connected to PC"
(see attachment)
Just noticed you said laptop loses wi-fi.... I assumed HD loses wi-fi. My bad.
This may or may not help some of you, but I found out (the hard way) that the WLAN pre-shared key "passphrase" may only be 12 bytes long. Any more and it will not work.
