Could it be on the 16 gig card that supposedly comes with the X?

I bet you're right. I looked through there too and saw nothing even close to the size that the game is supposed to be (over 100MB).
Oh well.. Now that I read about the separate GPU in the the X, it might not play so well on ours anyways.

100 mb holy crap thats hugetastic.
i saw it running on an N1 the first time i even heard of it look for the vid on youtube it did seem a bit sluggish but there were no framerate issues from what i could see this was before froyo too so i think we should be ok. especially if they used the ndk
because take a game like exzeus which is graphically comparable (almost) to the 3d gameloft games which make us dinc owners feel our gpu's abilities are inadequate lol. It runs perfectly and has tons of stuff going onscreen most of the time but because it was made using the ndk our phones have no problem.
those gameloft games are ports of iphone games so they are optimized for the powervr gpu

Sweet! I'll have to try that game out!

Isn't it just a demo though? Maybe its not 100 mb

Yeah that does seem way to large maybe the sd folder download for the full game will be that big but the game itself should only be 10 megs or so
P.s. To a mod this should probably be moved to general or.apps and themes it doesn't really belong here
*edit * holy crap I just saw a video confirming that this game is indeed 103 mb on the internal memory and exclusively for the droid X haha maybe this won't even run on the dinc which sucks cuz I have been waiting eagerly for this for like a month

I figured I'd post it here since I was asking if it could be ported to our device. Please move to wherever it should be. Yeah, I saw that same video! It looks awesome.

Gameloft has FINALLY pulled through for Android!

Asphalt 5 go check it out and buy it so gameloft can continue to bring great 3d games to android
Bout time Gameloft! don't get why they haven't moved into Android much yet.
It's prolly because Google doesn't lock down the OS like Apple does so people aren't as inclined to spend on mobile games when they could just as easily play classic games on emulators...
awesome game but it's really choppy for me.

lol ya me too..when i posted this i hadnt really tried the game yet ahahha raging thunder is much more stable..but if more people buy it the more support they will have for it and the more games they will release
The only thing i need now is acces to paid apps
I just scrolled through their iphone/ipod touch games, and there are quite a few that looks pretty cool, if google could just open paid apps up for some more countrys, then i think that we would see alot more high end games for android.
Game is nice but still not up to N1's potential....
Apparently its more stable on other phones such as the Droid. Real kick up the balls cause the graphics look smooth and the game has always been great since the .jar versions lmfao
Hopefully they will tweak it out for the N1 cus this thing should run fine on it really.
Yeah, the N1 is definitely stronger CPU-side, but the Droid owns the N1 as far as GPU ability...the N1 is a much more productive phone.

30fps cap

To anyone who has tested this phone: have you ran fps2d? I want to see if it has a 30fps cap. I doubt it does, but just want to make sure...
You can clearly tell it doesn't from the video engadget posted. It's much more responsive looking than the EVO.

Definitely.
Sorry no, you cannot clearly tell from a 24fps flash video if its not capped. I want to see solid proof
Per one of the editors at AndroidCentral it isn't capped. Though in another thread he wouldn't answer what tool he used to verify this...

Not sure if this counts as "definitive proof", but Android Central ran a Motorola X benchmark video and it looked very, very impressive and ran at a full 60 fps.

Does it have some kind of dedicated chip just for the GPU?

Gears for Android
and
NenaMark1
Both are pretty neat, on my Droid with Froyo at 1ghz, I got 62fps on the Gears one, and 13fps on the Nena one.
Hey when talking about this video:
http://www.androidcentral.com/motorola-droid-x-benchmark-tests
I do see it runs a lot better with the dedicated GPU, but does that mean now that games will have to be remade to run properly on it?
obviously most won't but if you notice on that last test, there is no shadow for the tree it's just a big black texture. Which makes me think the program is sending data that the gpu can't render. kinda reminds me if you play doom 3 with a directx 7 card isn't going to have any shadow or light effects of the directx 9. So I'm just curious how this is going to effect games now. obviously it looks like the other 2 phones are just using their CPU to render so it will do all the effects that the software engine does.
I plan on getting one on opening day but would like to know how other game graphics fair up and if they will also include artifacts in them.
or do i just have no idea what i'm talking about? (i've never had an android before)
What would I need to fully, no doubt, answer this besides what haas been said? You guys let me know and I will do it.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Wow you already have one?!
I have no idea how you test it, other then attempting to run the latest 3d games with the best graphics and see if you can see any differences from footage from the nexus or incredible.
Looking for any kind of artifacts like the tree was in that other video
Meh, just being nitpicky, but an artifact is more like yellow pixels flickering on the screen, rather than improperly rendered graphics.
Yeah i know just didn't know what else to call it, artifact was the closest concept i could think of.
according to this articale:
http://lifehacker.com/5575317/smartphone-comparison-chart-dishes-the-dirt-on-smartphone-specs
it has the same GPU as the original droid, how does this test fair? does not render properly like the x?

Fennec, whats that? O yeh, that parasite of a sloth browser
are we there yet with technology? I always thought pico projectors were useless gimmicks, but if they can do that keyboard thing that would be neat
that virtual lazer keyboard you see already exist, it only cost $170+
http://www.thinkgeek.com/interests/techies/8193/
the wireless aero mouse also exist by logitech only cost $350+
http://www.logitech.com/en-us/mice-pointers/mice/devices/3443
the phone with projector i've seen it already on DX extreme website for around $280+
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.17069
Fenec for android is still in Alpha but it exist
so if you can marry all of the above together, you will get what you saw on the video
the only cool thing on the video is how compact they were able to put all that stuff together in 1 phone.... unlikely at this point in time with our current technology, or nano tech is not mature enough yet to produce such small devices with all the required components inside, at least not for mass production.
just the lazer keyboard itself is the size of that phone, same goes with the aero mouse
ive one of such ultra tiny projects and it works decently well. uses a LOT of battery.
fennec is also pretty much awesome interface wise etc. it's just way too slow for real use right now. (like the sgs without lagfix )
i wonder how much they will advertize the price for the phone if they actually do make it to the market
That is like the coolest phone / mini computer I have ever seen!!! I want it NOW!!! lol!!!

Android games not "up to par"?

Anyone else feel like the games that are available for the Android system overall are nothing more than just non-smartphone games? As I look through the available games I haven't really seen one that is any better than what I used to be able to get for my regular old flip phone 5 years ago.. My buddy has an Iphone and he has games like Madden '11 and similar games that have pretty decent graphics and good game play.. why aren't we seeing this for the android system?
*I am aware that with the newest Droid X update they released Madden '11, but why not for all phones?
Some phones can't handle the graphics
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
How long was the iPhone out before games were available? Probably close to a year until good games came along? While android has been out for a while, it wasn't really mainstream until the original Droid was released on VZW, which is just over a year ago. Good games are starting to show up, but the quantity isn't so great right now. I'd say give it another 3-6 months and more games will start showing up. Gingerbread should further improve this with the added game controls in the OS.

I guess it's enough to judge about the quality? ;-)
i agree with you completely compared to iOS the games on android haven't caught up yet but personally i believe this is a small price to pay for having an open source ecosystem. This is why I like android phones more than the iphone itself but i do not condemn the people that get them as android may not be their cup of tea (i personally recommend android phones to my friends that are techie or at least somewhat fluent in using a regular computer while anyone that would be lost in setting menus looking for a way to change their ringtone for calls get an iphone as it is more like a regular dumbphone in that sense). Also, I recommend if you just want something to play games on and use on the go like your phone and around the house get an ipad or ipod touch and just use them for playing games (and some light web browsing maybe if you get the ipad and want a larger screen) and your android phone for everything else. Thats what i am personally doing and plan on doing it until android gets a solid gaming platform (crosses fingers for great games on honeycomb!)
G1 came out late October of 2008 right? 2 years? IPhone came out on Late Jun 2007. Although just by a year Iphone did have a head start. Better games are starting to come out for the top of the line android phones. give it some time. Gameloft has some pretty good games. Pocket legends isnt that bad eather.
All I want are the games from adult swim lol

This is one of the main things that has annoyed me about Android, coming from an iPod Touch to a Samsung Fascinate. Its games selection is pretty small and not very good, especially compared to the iPhone and even Windows Phone 7 to some extent. But since Gingerbread is optimized for gaming, I'm thinking 2011 will be the year for Android gaming. Right now though, developers are going googoo gaga over the iPhone platform and seem to not even acknowledge Android's existence.

Android will up the game next year, because platform will get dual cores. Tegra2 looks quite cool right now. It is same as Droid came first with high res, and then Apple followed the suite.
I wonder what Apple has to answer to this? They do not actually produce any parts themselves. And their greed will not allow them to compete in cheaper segments. So, they market share will be reduced, and as such platform appeal.
No matter what Android will level up with iPhone, if not beat it.

The entire reason games are not up to par with iOS is because of the size limit of apps on the market. This was just recently increased from 25Mb to 50Mb with the new android market. If you look at games on the app store you will notice some can take up a coupe hundred Megabytes. This allows for more development of games on iOS while android is being limited on the graphical quality and length of most games.

Personal Xoom versus Ipad

Well. have had my xoom for around a week.
Little frustrated with some of the non function, Flash is slow and no SD however. operation wise it does everything I throw at it. Happy. Anyway these aren't avail on the Ipad sooo what am I going to do.
My wife came home last night with a Ipad 2 3G.
First things. Grabbing it the perception is the xoom is smaller. Weight wise can't tell. Both feel equall from weight wise.
Screen on the Ipad is brighter but grainer than the xoom.
Powering on.
Hit the ipad power button, powers on shortly and insist it need to be connected to a computer, no bypass. Plug it in and it needs iTunes. What!
Install itunes and get it online.
Done. Strange, Ipad only needs to be connected for like 1 sec before it is activated. Sure this could have been done over Wireless.
UI feels more constrained than the Xoom. usage difference are mainly due to what I am used to. Ipad Keyboard is a pain, have to start changing all our passwords because mixed numbers is frustrating. Xoom is easier to type on, both numbers and also touch typing.
Speed. Ipad has very smooth transitions however task switching, navigation, apps etc are way faster on the xoom. Backwards and forwards, homescreen, etc. With honeycomb there is no competition.
First thing we tried to do was copy some photo's onto the Ipad. Copy them onto a SD card and use the adpater. Nup. Browse to out website, nup. In the end installed photosync and now working.
However my wife will love the Ipad as I love the Xoom.
This morning my 2 year old has already sussed out to open an audio book and is listening to the gruffilo story. That in itself might say something.
I get my xoom today, and play with it for 4-5 hours. Honestly, i saw a lot of force close in web browser/ market, flash 10.2 doesn't work...but i believe those issue will be fixed by update next version of honeycomb in near future. Of course, i love my xoom.

- when i say "work" i mean it has to work at least 90-95% in all cases. Flash 10.2 on honeycomb can't approach that rate. i tested a lot of website this afternoon, watched a lot of flash video on my xoom, and i can only hear the sound or extremely choppy. However, flash 10.2 on my mytouch 4g, galasy s, even hd2- running android is far better than that.
- There is no custom room right now so i don't think i need to enable sdcard function. BTW, 32GB is enough for me.

No it does not feel like a super mega anything up a hill. People that say that should get out from behind the capacitive screens more often. Google the actual weight difference. Its very close. I have a wifi xoom and my girl has a ipad2. My xoom feels more solid than her ipad2. And she hates it when I show her different home screen layouts or transfer something from my SD card. Flash does work at least 90-95% of the time.. It may lag a bit if the site is flash heavy along with bunch of ads. But it gets better once you zoom on the flash video that you actually wanna watch. I pad can't do that. Also, my mytouch4g can't play any song on mixcrate.com, but my xoom can. So I wouldn't really say that my mytouch4g's flash is better than my xooms.

On the topic of the flash "issues". When I first got my xoom flash was sketchy at best. But once I rooted and blocked ads, I haven't had a problem.
