HTC Diamond2 Vs. HTC Photon

Hi,
I'm considering to buy the HTC TD2 since it seems to fit my needs in a good way. However, I read about the HTC Photon which seems to be very similair to the HTC TD2. One major difference is the screen, capacitive vs resestive.
Do you think I should wait and buy the HTC Photon instead or should I just buy the HTC TD2 now? Do you belive that HTC Photon has better technical performance than HTC TD2?

other major difference is the resolution: Photon is HVGA (à la iPhone, 400*320), Topaz is WVGA (800*480), much much higher DPI. at this point, I would not consider anything below VGA, WVGA is the new standard for both winmo and android, except for low end and candybars phone...And, besides this major point, pics of Photon looks like a plastic toy compared to Topaz, but that's only my personal preference...
Photon does not makes me regret buying the Topaz....Nexus one, on the other hand....;-)
I recommend you to go for Diamond2 which has better resolution and better look. I think diamond2 is sensitive enough with resistive screen and I like using stylus some times
On top of that, you will have a good deal as diamond2 has released since one year or more.
HTC Photon based on 600mhz qualcomm cpu, with HVGA screen resolution it will be much, MUCH faster than HTC Touch Diamond2 (518Mhz with WVGA).
So this is a choice between good picture or speed
expansion question
just wanted to ask.... how much expansion is possible in topaz microsd? what is the max i can go up to ? will the system recognize it if i go higher then 4 gb? or 8 gb?
The SD card socket supports microsd up to 32 GB

What the hell's the difference between the Leo and the Bravo (Desire)

htc.com/www/product/desire/specification.html
I noticed the Bravo has face recognition ? Can't see many other differences in the spec
Anything else different with this new model?
Android 2.1, smaller screen
now.. that phone is loook much better than X10
Guys what do you recommend, HD2 or Desire.!!
The Desire also has optical trackpad and AMOLED rather than LCD screen. If I was buying a new handset now, I would need to try both an HD2 and Desire side by side to make my choice.
I'm happy with my HD2 on HTC's 1.66 ROM, but the Desire looks nice and the Apps being released for Android would be enough to tempt me if the rumours of the HD2 getting WM7 weren't around.
Pretty much what he said ^
It looks nice.... the kind of thing my daugfhter would prefer over the HD" (she's already a veteran Hero user....) but.... its Android...
desire as android gets allot of free updates than windows mobile

hero or stick with wildfire

just got the missus a wildfire, and to be frank the screen is a joke, now i might send it back to 3 and get a hero, but does the bluetooth (phone to phone file sending) work on 2.1? as it didnt on 1.5
and what do people think that have used/owned both, is the hero a better phone
thanks
Hi there!
I haven't used the wildfire, so I can't compare these two.
But I can assure You, that hero with 2.1 can use bluetooth without ny problems or difficulties.
With regards
brat.haneq
Hero is older than wildfire, but has larger screen etc.
I think wildfire and hero are similar specs, but Iirc wildfire has accelerated 3D, which hero lacks.
I like my hero, but I wouldn't buy another one today, as it's about a year old.
I don't use bluetooth though, so can't comment on it.
i thought the wildfire screen was capacitive? what specifically is wrong with the screen? it could be a hardware issue as the Hero did have problems with the bottom of the screen not responding.
Not had my hands on the wildfire but if you were to sell it how much would you get for it as it should be enough to cover hero fees.
Alough the HTC Hero is an older model so I should think the wildfire will be better. It's just a smaller desire.
BT does work on the 2.1 heros, just tested between mine and a winmo phone.
Wildfire has smaller resolution (meaning less apps natively avaliable, without using a hacked market). But also has more Ram. Also has camera flash and smile detection.
They have the same processor speed as stock, although the wildfire is a slightly newer revision. The screens are both 3.2inch.
I have had a 5 minute play with the Wildfire in a shop - and to be honest, the resolution urked me too, and despite all of the quirks I would still take a Hero over the wildfire.
but thats just my opinion.
seeing as the hero and the wildfire are similarly priced on a 3 contract, id go with the hero.
the difference between the two is the ram and resolution, wildfire having the better ram.
id rather have better res than more ram, so id go with the hero.
3 currently have the white hero on payg for £160 refurbed. i bought one and it looks like new.
Same here... In my opinion if I have to choose between the wildfire with 512mb of ram and a lower resolution screen and the Hero, I would definitely choose the hero.. it lacks of Flash for camera as well, but at the end of the day when it's rooted it rocks!!

[Q] WildFire - Hero

Hey There,
a friend of mine is looking to get his first android phone.
but he wants to have a budget phone.
I was looking at the Wildfire because this is considered a budget phone.
But i also noticed that the HTC Hero has dropped to a similar price.
I looked at the specs but it almost looks like the hero still has better specs then the wildfire does.
Is there anyone who has tried both?
and could tell me the differences?
much appreciated.
In my opinion the HTC hero did seem a bit laggy but maybe that's changed, also the resolution is slightly better on the hero but not really noticeable. The HTC Wildfire is going to get Android 2.2 and with a bigger RAM it will run smoother than the HTC Hero. Also the Hero does not have a Flash for the camera :O. its up to you but i would say the wildfire is better.
So newer is better..
Thanks for your opinion

thinking about switching from Desire to HD2

I own a Desire and thinking about switching to the HD2 because I like the big screen. However, there are some things I would like to know:
- Is Android 2.2 running from the SD-card just as fast as it would be if NAND? And is is just as fast as it runs on the desire?
- Are the colors (especially the deep blacks) on the Desire (AMOLED) THAT much better then the HD2?
- Are there any more major advantages/disadvantages about making the switch from the Desire to the HD2?
If you would wait for a little time, a bootloader to boot android from NAND on the HD2 will be released.
Concerning the other questions, I can't provide any help to you, as I only own a HTC HD2.
Btw, why do you ask that question in two different threads?
I can't post a link to the NAND discussion to PREVENT SPAM...
if you want a bigger screen running android you would be beter off just getting the desire hd
I have both phones and the desire is the newest of my phones because I liked a mates desire that he recently bought. I thought that when the desire came in the mail that it would be my main phone but I was wrong. The screen on the Desire is nice but it is way over the top with colour, the colour is is too unrealistic.
The HD2's screen size wins over hands down and you can pick the HD2 up cheap now over buying the Desire HD which looks like it doesn't have much more to offer than the HD2 other than the camera and the new screen type.
I also own both phones, I Like the HD2 for some things, and the Desire for others. But the Desire has become my daily driver since I got it. I Like the screen, and am able to run it at a lot lower brightness, than the HD2, saving power. I think the biggest difference is the weight, the HD2 is all metal and a lot bigger, the plastic back on the Desire really reduces the weight.
