Sprint Employees view of XDA Devs - Hero CDMA General

Just a tidbit of interest here concerning the koolaid that Sprint employees are trying to push. The Sprint employee "mykey" on Sprints Community Forums has all but called the knowledgable and hard working devs here liars concerning the CDMA kernal. Some of you might at least get a laugh out of it! A Sprint idiot at his best! community.sprint.com/baw/thread/25921?start=15&tstart=0&reqsorting=dec

wow thats epic.

ignorance is bliss, "I'm an employee, I know better than anyone else because I have the 'inside scoop'." Except for the slight detail that he's completely wrong about the source code being released, in a sense is is released, but only partially as it is lacking the cdma specific portions.
Edit: He really is cocky and ignorant. Oh well, not worth my time arguing on the internets with a douche-nozzle like that.

That guy is an absolute clown. I'm sure he knows he's wrong by now, but won't be admitting it or apologizing to the folks in that thread.

Being an employee means nothing when it comes to information. I myself am a sprint employee. Sadly many of our customers have more information than what we are privvied. We are usually made aware of upcoming changes about 1 to 2 weeks before they actually go into effect, and most of which has already been leaked or confirmed online prior to it ever hitting us.

edit :found it

this guy is just a douchebag that is probably a "technition at a sprint store so he thinks that he is just the man.
I will be the first to admit that I had some reservations about following advice on this forum. However when I had a problem with my hero (see this thread) I spent an hour on the phone with sprints "advanced tech support" and they couldnt figure it out. I put the thread up and 40 minutes later the first post that replied nailed the problem right off the bat.
I learned my lesson, post here first and then if no one here can help, might as well get a new phone.

Yeah, that's pretty much how I work with everything now, not just phones. I'm tired of speaking to (no offense)people in countries such as India that I can barely understand, and to top off the matter, don't really no what I'm talking about.

It looks like they don't want us posting on the subject anymore:
----------------------------------------
Sorry folks - this thread has generated more than enough abuse reports for personal attacks and more.
I'm closing the thread.
If you chose to take the GPL issue up again, please keep your posts professional, courteous and if you work for Sprint remember that you are representing the company when you post - even off hours.
-----------------------------------------
I wasn't abusive...much.

make a new thread and continue it on lol

he he. I outright cursed the bastard out. It pisses me off when the devs work their asses off on this **** because a company refuses to give us what we have a right to have and then some smart ass says they dont know anything. Ooh it pisses me off.

lol deep breaths chuck anybody with a brain knows that that guy was full of it.

good read...just wanted sound smart and got shot down...

Wow... Educated much?
As an employee, I can honestly say, even during some of my calls, I refer to this forum for answers. xda for android and ppcgeeks for winmo is pretty much biblical when it comes for hard facts, knowledge, and know how. I just had to say that. I don't post much, but I've been able to a lot of tough questions based on the answers found here.

I can't stand Sprint's forums. They are about as fair and balanced as Fox news.

It's 'ESPECIALLY'. There's no X in that word. Also 'relevance' not 'relevence'. I'm certain I'm missing one or two there, but this was just a quick glance. Since you seem to be all over propriety, I suggest learning to spell before criticizing others.

I am not here to agree with johnson's approach to this thread but I have to agree that this thread should not have been created in such forum. PM's are exactly how you communicate with other members and if after PMing said Member, he received info that he felt relevant to the forum, then he should post it. Just starting a thread to ask someone something like that is just a little much.
Loud noises!!!!
I am just tired of threads like this... then people backing up the justification of it being there.... then people going after the ones that get on the ones that post stupid sh*t like this....
I've been reading xda for a very long time and it just goes on and on and on, but this particular handheld seems to attract a butt load of self richous know nothings... and not noobs.. but know nothings... the retard to technical person ratio is just totally f*cked currently, makes me want to go back to hacking winmo phones or something, at least there the idiots let you know they were idiots up front.
and I don't give a big flying f if I can spell or not.. that is the weakest type of argument ever... you obvioulsy know what I'm saying... so I don't really care if you correct me or leave it be, it makes you sound as pompous as you are suggesting I am is all.

So what's with all the crying on XDA's EVO threads lately?

I remember the good ol days when people just dropped by, downloaded some stuff, left nice comments and went about their day. Lately, bout the last month or so, the threads have been filled with "I donated a dollar, I want my ROM" or "can I get an ETA on this?" (which is the rudest question I've ever seen here) or just people arguing or one-upping each other. I fear we're losing the community-based friendliness of this site as the days go along.
As we can see, a few devs have had enough and already left. How much longer is everyone gonna keep this up? It's like I visited XDA one day and it turned into an AOL n00b forum. It sucks. I want the old XDA back where people didn't cry about CM missing deadlines (they just visited again later and if a new CM was up they were happy, if not they just came back later), people didn't complain about Damageless losing his job and having to focus on his life instead of ours, people simply enjoyed what was available instead of hounding devs about when stuff is coming out.... I must say it'll be released when it's released!
I just don't understand what's so difficult about giving those who give us the time of our lives time to breathe and enjoy their lives too. It shouldn't matter whether a "donation" of a $1 or $1000 is made - the devs (and some of the senior members, shucks, even like me) deserve a lot more respect than what's going around lately. At the end of the day, I just don't want to suffer for following the rules when others decide to wreck it for the rest of us.
Anyway, I just had to rant. I still <3 XDA and always will. This place really has changed my life forever.
That is very well said. Devs should be praised not hounded.

I have seen this before with Forums as the user-base grows and popularity increases, which Android brought many non technical users into the smartphone era, your impatient/arrogant/immature user-base grows as well and since they are still learning how things work but want it now since this is the era of entitlement your gonna get alot of asshats wanting there ROM now or there FIX now. It sucks but It happens.
One thing about XDA is its never been that user friendly or at least as long as I have been here. Seems like a few people come here just to be assholes. They know everything and even if you agree with them they will still act like dicks. With that said I try to stay out of those situations. Sit back in my thread and sometime comment on topics. Sorry but its true.
Try it, post something in the wrong thread by accident and see what happens.

This. The Evo was the first time that an android device really blew up with the non-technical crowd, and of course XDA has a reputation, so all of the new users came here. Unfortunanly, they don't really understand what it means to be a member of a development community though, and look at XDA like it's just another smartphone forum.

I've been guilty of wrong thread bashing myself it can be kinda fun. All depends on how out of place the topic is.
P_dub_S has it right. the market just expanded so much for androids. its like when blackberry came out with the Pearl and every teenage girl had one lol... most of the new phones arnt owned by tech people. hopefully in the fallowing months they will calm down. stil think the best forum was the xda section for the eris im just happy to have a phone lol so dont mind me
Most people just don't see how hard it is to make some of this stuff work. Exactly. What people don't understand is this is a hobby. We are not making a living doing this, and I do not get paid for this. Yes its true that we do receive donations but not NEARLY as many as I think people assume.
imho...these forums which used to be filled with great developers turned into a forums filled with the developers wanting compensation or in prettier words "beer money" for their time and effort instead of "joy and fun" or "hobby" of making roms and is slowly becoming more "pay-to-play" and if you don't pay, they take their business elsewhere to their own "pay-to-play" forums....just my own observation going from windows mobile development to android....

He is correct I have seen a few developers take their ROMs elsewhere (create their own website) but I'm not sure it was about money. I have donated to a few chiefs because I understand the time that goes into making these ROMs. Its time I could be spending with my kids. People seems to feel chiefs are obligated to do this for some reason. I do it because I like it not because I want to get paid. I get paid at work. When people complain at you all the time it turns it into work and then it isn't fun anymore.
Screw all of you....I payed my turkey sandwich and a hooker! I want my damn daily updates with a rom so spectacular that it will make me a full course meal.
Of course im playing but i cant help but agree with you. I find that i spend more time sorting through "non searchers" than anything else. I hope to see this calm down over the next year. Good thing about this is that people will only get smarter and simmer down....My car forums(g35driver.com) is getting worse as the car gets cheaper. More kids and ridiculousness.

Notes from Samsung

Sorry for the post. I read that somewhere
Is anyone sick of a$$holes being dicks to the wrong people?

The topic is tired.
If I were you I would work that energy elsewhere while the devs work on getting 2.2 to you quicker.
And agreed with above poster...you are attacking some minimum wage employee who tries to help people with tech support. What is he going to do? March down to the CEO's office right down the hall and tell him YOU are mad and joining a lawsuit?? lol
And as far as a lawsuit is concerned, yes, we all want an update to improve the phones we purchased, thinking an update was coming soon. It hasn't. You are owed nothing! They don't have to update at all. Yet, they will and someone else will get mad because it wasn't Gingerbread...on and on...
Mods, please lock this down as the thread essentially goes against the "Where's 2.2 threads"
One of the fastest ways I can think of to get a company to immediately stop talking to you is to threaten lawsuits. At that point you will often find yourself referred to the legal department for all further communication.
/me hangs his head in shame for the op.
/me slaps op around a bit with a large trout.
good day.
If you want to talk to samsung about it, talk yourself and keep it to yourself. Stop posting all these samsung sucks, etc thread to the XDA forums.
You want 2.2 or something for fascinate so bad, learn some programming and try helping some dev here.
I'd rate this thread 0 stars if I could...
I was ignorant like the OP was, put clockwork and super clean and now much happier. And the OP is a moron, if he'd spend 10 seconds looking under android development he'd see that we have not 1 but 2!!!! Froyo roms working partially.
Your cool...

C'mon people, time to stop beating the dead horse. Berating customer service reps never, ever, EVER gets you anywhere. If you ever do get a seemingly satisfactory response from one of them on an inquiry like this, they most likely made it up in order to make you happy and get off the line. Most of these people are not phone geeks, and do not follow the latest news and rumors. They have no clue about what's going on without it being presented to them in their official documentation, so yelling at them will get you nowhere.
Furthermore, I work in a call center for a tech company, and I get sad (and sometimes mad) when I read chat logs like this, because I've been on the receiving end of crap like that, and it's not fun. Just be glad they have enough class to not give in to your abuse.
Who the f___ actually thinks frontline (read: answering customers directly) reps from any company have any decision making ability, or repository of secret info? What a waste of time bullying the wrong people. I'm frontline tech for VZW, and we are told *nothing* until a few days before due to all the info leaks these days. I get info from boygeniusreport.com, engadget.com, and phonearena.com WAY before I get anything official. Get a life and grow up.

Thank you for everything.

I want to just take a second and say thanks for ALL the support I have received from most of you since I started out here. I realize that Autism and Android were an unlikely pair but I thought it worked well.
Lately there has been an increasing level intolerance for what I was trying to do here. I know it's a vocal minority but they have become louder and louder. I have become quite disheartened as of late with the direction this forum has taken and I'm going to step back for a while. My ultimate goal is to further the spread of Autism Awareness and hopefully get Android4Autism launched by the end of the summer or early fall and so I'm going to redirect my efforts there.
I honestly had the best of intentions with everything I was doing here but it has apparently run it's course. Aside from asking you to "think about donating your old devices for the Android4Autism project (and I specifically said not until after everything was set up and legit so that everyone was protected) and votes, I never asked for anything. Despite the claims that have been made to the contrary about my intentions.
I want to thank everyone for voting for my blog but as you may notice the thread has been moved after being here for over 2 1/2 months. I realize that it was not "on topic" but it was a positive thread. I thought it was amazing how everyone unified and worked together for a common goal. I suspect that the vocal minority contributed to this and that saddens me. I'm not angry this happened, it's just that fact that some people would take it upon themselves to get this removed from our forums after all this time, instead of just not reading it.
I'm not looking for anything out of this. After all you have given to me, I felt I owed you an explanation for my decision. That's the very least I can do. I'll never be able to repay all the kindness and support you have shone to both me and my family. You have all made a difference in our lives. You have helped to spread awareness and for that I will forever be grateful.
Please don't turn this into a flame war either. I'll close the thread myself. I just want everyone to understand how grateful I am for everything and that my stepping back is my choice. My methods are becoming the target for some people and I won't change the way I'm doing things because I believe in what I'm doing. So the best thing is to just walk away. At least for now.
You all know where to find me and I'm happy to help. Please feel free to contact me through my blog or Google+ if you need anything and I will do whatever I can to help you.
Thanks again for everything. I'm very proud of what we were able to accomplish. Please help to keep this community moving forward.
Rob

Thanks Rob for all that you do. And I hope you don't let this get you down too much. I remember when I first came to this forum and I thought what is this autism stuff all about here but as I took the time to read and learn I appreciated what you were doing and felt it was a great cause. If the bs here isn't worth your time I can hardly blame you. You've been far more generous with it than most would be. I as I am sure most people wish you nothing but the best!

Not trying to be a **** but this sentence pretty much sums it up.
Thank you for what you have done.
As much as I would like to point fingers at those responsible I will refrain from it because you asked me not to.

You will be missed. I haven't been on as often as I used to because of all the BS here, but I still lurk and you will be missed!

Yes, yes you are.
How hard is it to not click on threads about things you're not interested in?
Rob,
Keep up the good work brother! Hopefully things will calm down here while you focus on your rom! I sent you a PM a while back... I may have some connections in the school (if you don’t already). Might help in pushing your rom on a local basis. Stay strong, God bless, and good luck in your endeavors!
From one medic to another... you're alright in my book!

Rob asked us to not turn it into a flaming thread, but you sure don't make it easy. Funny how you have been on xda 2 months, but have only posted 21 times and you choose to post on this... why are you trying to start something?

+1 no matter how kind and sincere you can be in a post there is always gonna be the one degenerate at the keyboard thinking "How can I dump on this guy."
As for the OP, keep up the good work bro
im not a homer by any means but when my Epic took a swim i was forced to boot my moment up and went back to SDX developers for roms..i REALLY wished the Epic would have caught on over there..just seems like a much better environment....this site has driven away quite a few developers..its a shame..thanks for everything you do rob.not just over here but with your Windows Mobile stuff over at PPCGeeks.if people cant tolerate your Autism Awareness, with all the good stuff you put out for the Epic, then this isnt the place for them..it shouldnt be the other way around...

Just as hard as it is to follow the forum rules. Say for instance that I considered the elimination of homosexualaity a "positive cause". Should I be allowed to push that agenda here at the cost of the owners of the site simply because I think this is a positive agenda? (According to some users, yes...)

Regardless of what Rob has given to us (the community) why does he not have to follow the rules of the forum? Why is it appropriate for him to come and complain that his thread was moved to the correct forum and he is quitting because he disagrees with the opinion of those that pay for and/or manager this resource to be available to us?
@dnathan13: Regarding your comment on my membership length here... What Android software have you developed in your lengthy membership in these forums?
Medic,
I got another one for you, like old times: "The best way to fight negative acts is with perseverance, love and the truth"
Stay the course my friend and don't let nobody tell you lies about the truth you cary...

Fail to see how pointing out that we must play by the rules the owners of this site set is "dumping on someone". It's reality, if you don't like it create your own forum and set the rules...
EDIT: I have nothing against Rob's cause and believe the thread is in the correct forum now...
Rob, I've supported you ever since I heard about you and your cause. You are one of the few members here that has gained my respect. I thank you for *Everything* you've done here.

Really?
I don't believe any HUMAN being would have a problem with autism awareness.
Like comparing apples and oranges.

Thanks Rob. I've enjoyed reading and learning from you. I've been a member pretty much since the epic launched, lurked and just read alot; lately its hard not to respond to some of this.

Keep that head up Rob we are all still behind you. You showed us a piece of yourself and your family here and became a friend to most of us. Keep in mind one thing, you are dealing with a lot of minors on heee and they cant grasp the idea they are ****ting on you with some of the comments about your intentions. They arent mature enough to see how it comes out. The mature adults will remain on your side.
Never feel you asked for anything or too much. Your community came together to give you what you deserved without you asking for it.
Take a rest man play with those kids, your headed in the right direction with the autism awareness, families will benefit from your sweat!

i have lost all faith in xda

I've noticed every new rom people wanna talk **** about... for example. Enyos new two expresso ...... so what if its a stock i9000 port. We should be encouraging our few devs we have left... not constantly downing them.... if people wanna complainso damn much why don't they make their own rom ...
Sorry just had to vent some about the dumbasses in our forums
Okay, see ya.

I agree. There are a lot of people who do not realize how much effort the developers really put into making these phones better and they do it all for free.
The people on here need to take a course in giving constructive criticism, rather than dogging the rim,or app, or what-have-you all together. This forum isn't a place just to get free help and stuff for your phone. It's here for us to help each other, not rip on eachother.
I've been using xda since the omnia i910 was first released. And I've never seen the forums as bad as they are here. Its sad the way people act now
From what I can tell, the only hostility going on around here is towards enyo. It's easy to see why the people act the way they do towards him too, in fact there's threads describing why they do.
As far as any other negativity...it's easy to want to talk **** to people asking questions that we already have stickies dedicated to. This is (was) a developers forum after all.
I agree there's no reason for hostility on these forums sometimes, but most of the time it's perfectly logical AND necessary for people to learn.
The reason this goes on is because the dev you speak of takes other people roms, add some tweaks, scripts and what not, then calls it is own rom. Most members here can do this, but they would not claim the rom as his/her own. The ethics are off and thats most likely because of him/her being so young. I commend the efforts, but a true dev builds things from source and anything thats kanged, proper credit is given. Besides most everything I read is just a friendly ribbing anyways. If you op cant understand this, then by all means leave, and dont let the door hit ya in the a** on the way out. By the way where is the popcorn
Plus, there are valuable lessons to be learned from all of the trolling:
1. Don't make outrageous claims that you can't deliver on (5000 Quadrant? Really? No spoofing the Quadrant app? Dual-core beast phones don't even do 5000)
2. Don't build hype with shameless self-promotion (WebOS or iOS on the Fascinate?!? Come on...)
3. Never give out ETAs because you never know what might come up.

.....it was the t1000 cloned to a hot blonde with double d's!
I would think by now that the Enyo debate had been extensively covered.
In turn for (most) people laying off the trolling and flaming, i dont think we need people to keep popping up to defend him all the time either.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion, yes, but to blindly defend someone without any knowledge of why is just plain assinine in my eyes. If you ask me its all foolish, just my $0.02
Edit: also to lose faith in an entire site because of one forum...wow. I too have been here since the i910 and honestly its not a whole lot different other than alot of good contributers leaving. However the community as a whole has always been a tad on the boorish side, thats how forums tend to work.
"I didn't say that...my Fascinate has a tiny troll inside it."
rootzwiki is my main forums now...
i know enyo says alot of outrageous ****... but so have many other devs who got quite a bit of money in donations and disapeared....
atleast enyo is making something....
his expresso pyramid is the fasted rom ive ever used on my fascinate....and ive tried every rom avaliable
Who's made a lot of money and disappeared from the Fascinate forum? jt1134 didn't exactly rake it in, and he still develops for the Fascinate on Rootzwiki. Adrynalyne left the Fascinate forum because he got a Thunderbolt and then left XDA entirely because he was outraged by inconsistent behavior from the Thunderbolt mods. Most others are still here or returned to the Fascinate AFAIK
Has anyone seen John Connor?
When I say alot have left I am speaking generally over the years. Between leaving for other forums or starting up teams with their own site or just dropping the cause all together for one reason or another.
The fascinate forum in particular will, I fear, continue to fall in numbers only because this device does not have the staying power of some of the others mostly due to the timeframe of its release and higher profile releases around that same timeframe. I mean seriously, look at the Droid Eris. It was big reds first android phone and is still receiving new and updated material. The Fascinate will never have that following.
That is not saying it is a bad device, but until the leaps made by Jt fell into place it was a pita to develop for (outside of cleaned up TW Roms). Unfortunately by that time most had moved on to newer devices.
"I didn't say that...my Fascinate has a tiny troll inside it."
Sorry, hesh.monster, but I was addressing that question to bones420la, because I don't have access to the financial records and bank statements for each of the devs, therefore I don't know which ones "got quite a bit of money in donations and disappeared"
Has anyone seen John Connor?
I figured but I've got my panties in a knot over all these "white knights" (as stated in the Enyos' lastest "Rom" thread). I wasn't gearing my response toward you so much as all of "them". No harm done
