To everyone working on root..

I hate to let you down, this is not related to rooting the phone.
I'm not a developer. The most advanced code I've written was in my high school computer science course in Pascal. I've used C++ before, but never got anywhere.
You probably don't realize what you're doing requires an amazing amount of skill and mental aptitude. Its something second-hand almost to you developers, but some of us even have a hard time understanding step-by-step instructions. The only way most of us can even begin to contribute is by money, but unfortunately, I can't afford to donate to supply you a source of income, so I know you are mainly doing this for yourself, and then sharing it with others to showcase your ability.
Honestly and wholly from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU for everything you do for us. I know this is probably unnecessary motivation as you're probably working on rooting right now, but really your hard work is truly admired.
THANK YOU and THANK YOU.
I hope everyone else who sees this and can offer no other means of gratitude will add to this post in support of our developers.

I've just completed my first year of college for Software Engineering, and it can be frustrating enough trying to find other ways to solve a problem when all the ideas you had didnt work. I couldn't imagine what it would be like to work on rooting a phone.
I'm pretty sure the dev's enjoy a thank you every now and then. I would imagine its nice getting some appreciation inbetween all the complaints that the phone isn't rooted yet and that it need to be asap.

As a first time Android device owner who likes to tinker, I search/read MANY forums. This sub-forum is THE pinnacle of learning for me. This place has the top tier crazy-smart code monkeys who are generous enough to take their time and share their knowledge all while asking for very little or nothing.
Suggestion for all my co-noobs: Support these people! Make the little suggested donations. Without them we would have slower, and much less (fun)ctional phones. And we would also probably still be frustrated contributors to the empires of Bill & Steve.

I wish i could report these posts without actually having to open and read them...

Why this thread is most likely in the wrong place. I'm with you. The community around here is great. Most of the threads are really well detailed and most people here are very generous and willing to help others. For a first time Android owner like myself who came in with no knowledge whatsoever, this forum help me get my phone just the way I want it within just a couple of days. I really want to say thanks as well.

to the OP, I do agree with you, the devs here are great, most do it for fun and respect but the occasional donation could not hurt ......

i did post a comment on your thread asking you to pm me but you never did and i got impatient and hyped up about things and i just rushed things and posted finished stable builds of your rom without your permission thinking things would be okay if i emphisized 3x on the thread i didn't do anything but finish your rom all credit goes to you for all other work. but again i went about things the wrong way i wasn't trying to take full credit for your rom i thought i made that clear in the first post but i guess saying it 3x still isn't the right way to go about things, glad to see we're working things out (btw everyone check out the title of his thread now ) for the better now bro! so i'd like to say this publicly, SORRY FOR USING YOUR ROM WITHOUT YOUR PERMISSION LIQUID! no i asked to take down jasonmaloney's build and my build (two seperate things) b/c we both posted our build's on liquid's thread without his permission.....which was a big no no....but i made things worse by making a seperate thread....again sorry liquid. so there was no need to credit jasonmaloney, laie i know i messed up big time smh stupid move on my part

i said in my rom's thread that it was based of nfx rom and i gave him credit, i said what i did. i didn't do what i did with liquid's rom, two completely different things... il Duce ik i screwed up with this rom and again i won't be making any mess ups like this again (me = thinking before my actions from now on xda) sorry

My rom (I say that very loosely) is based on nfx, but only with full permission from nfinite and on popular request. Even further I credited (with permission ) anyone who helped in testing or debugging, and that is the proper thing to do.

Which means that it is my task and my right to put up the final update to my own ROM, not have someone else do it without even letting me know beforehand or asking me, and then posting my exact thread over again instead of PMing me the link to add it in the OP, and then telling me after the fact.
Kifno has already got in touch with me and we're working it out, you guys can relax now.

again we talked things out and i'm sorry bro. and yes i may just be improving others work (the espreeso 2.1 rom i posted) and changing things, i never took full credit actually most of it goes to nfx b/c everyday i wake up he has a pm in my inbox helping me out with the espresso 2.1 rom, it wouldn't be where it is at without his help. only thing i can take full credit for is my build.prop's thats the only thing i actually did from my own work as for the espresso 2.1 rom that was from the help of many other members on this site, i never took full credit for that rom. i use the term my rom, when i refer to the espresso 2.1 rom, b/c i changed it, not b/c i developed it from scratch and did everything to it on my own, i'm not a super-dev yet lol. i'm just improving other's work and learning along the way and giving them credit and asking permission along the way from now on until i know enough to make something of my own again (besides text files lol) that will be of great help to the community....but for now i'm focuses on improving my rom (AGAIN IT ISN'T COMPLETELY MY ROM MANY OTHERS HELPED ME ALONG THE WAY) and helping others with their work for the hero and problems....first person on the list....liquid!!!!!! (we're pming each other now folks working this out for the better so its alright)

You know what man, you're a smark kid, you just take things a bit fast.
You'll grow to understand what it means to command respect here, and I'm sure you'll earn it from everyone. This place is bursting with ideas and creativity, but just PM ROM devs in the future. Every ROM dev needs help, there's no denying that. Sometimes the help you have to offer isn't enough or isn't to their preference, but there's never any harm in PMing to find out.
As far as my ROM goes, with your help, we'll finish this up and finally put an end to all this over exaggerated madness.

Wow man great job kifno. It's tough to own up in the face of so many people watching this, you're really just a good person beyond the scope of these forums. I'm proud to call you a fellow human being. I've been watching this escalate and deescalate and I must say it's been a roller coaster ride. I must say some people have been a bit harsher than they should have, but it's understandable when looked at from a different perspective. Kudos to you again.

In the aftermath of all this stuff, I just want to say that truly I appreciate ALL the hard work that you devs put into keeping our Heroes from becoming paperweights. You are forgetting all SE system apps that legally bound to be protected for the developers, including the CAMERA. SE also has a legal responsibility to protect Apple's patent on Multitouch, which I know there is still argument if it is a hardware issue or a bootloader issue. Nonetheless SE still has a legal responsibility to enforce its agreements with partners made before the device ever hit the market. Period.

Hey man, I'm not in any way insulting you with this post, just trying to offer some constructive thoughts. You are not stupid, but you have made some dumb decisions but hey, so have I. No harm in that as long as you take ownership of the mistakes(which you have). Just remember that there are some people here who have years of experience in the electronics field and we should all try to learn from their experience and not argue with them over what the internet says. Happy trails man!

It is obvious to anyone with a brain to think which may be in short supply these days based on your post. Sad sad people I say. You know I never saw you make one post to him while he was on xda. Let's make a deal, you leave and bring Ropodope back. I would make that deal any time.

Dude that was SOOOO long ago. Ropo from the looks of it changed a long time ago. That was WAAy in the past. Let it go.

Wow! The show of support for Ropodope in the EVO forums is overwhelming, & a nice change from the norm on these forums. I know Ropodope personally, we've met a few times for coffee & lunch. He is not a racist, & was wrongly accused and setup by two members that are on lifetime bans from this site for various reasons including racial comments & stealing other peoples work, not to mention stealing personal information to facilitate electronic wire fraud by hacking their donors' Paypal accounts with the purpose of stealing money.
My view of this whole situation of what led to Ropodope getting a lifetime ban is this: if the two low lifes (who are permanently banned from this site) had not circumvented the system by hiding behind VPN's in order to gain access to the site to facilitate engaging rope in a trolling fashion this never would have happened. Bottom line: if they hadn't been on the site rope would not have been banned, period.
Therefore I believe his ban should be lifted & his account restored to it's prior state.
Ropodope has an undying willingness to help people with their rooted EVOs, at times people that are either incapable of following simple instructions, or unwilling to actually do any research for themselves grate on his last nerve. And rightfully so, his knowledge of the EVO & Android in general come from months of research, and trial & error while trying different mods on his phone. Between the two of us there isn't a mod or tweak that we haven't tried on the EVO, trust me we've tried everything at least once at one time or another since rooting our phones.
So does rope come off as an ass sometimes? Sure, we all do. But he is more than willing to help anyone who will take the time to follow instructions and hopefully learn something along the way.
The last thing rope would ever be is a racist, opinionated yes, racist never.

Key words: "I didn't like his style" That is your opinion & you're entitled to it, but check his thanks meter & post count they tell an entirely different story, many people even PM'd him with thanks and/or apologized to him for making an ass of themselves in the development threads.
