SKYPE - Networking

I am running the CIngular branded ROM downloaded from this site and every sice the installation Skype will not work. Skype comes up and asks if I want it to connect to the cellular network and when I click yes it immediately says Cannot connet, check network settings.
Network settings are fine, IE works, OPutlook works, no problems.
Any ideas?

If you want to use Voip I suggest you use Sjlabs WM5 beta.
Skype is IMHO too heavy for handleds.

Skype that WORKS w/ Voice feature on PDA/Phone?
Dears,
DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHICH ONE DOES WORK WITH SKYPE VOICE??
I have been researching extensively different types of PDA-Cellsphone combos that WILL work with Skype-OUT/IN voice feature, the Skype.com site provides a list of ones that will not work (such as Jus-Jam and HTC TyTN).
Thank you.

SIP VoIP on TyTN

My first post in this outstanding forum
I've spent quite some time looking for programs able to run my SIP VoIP desktop client on Tynt. On WinXP I use X-Lite with VoIPDiscount and I know for sure it's possible to configure X-Lite with many other SIP based services like VoIP Stunt.
Is there a tested client for Tynt? All I've found was for PPC2003 and I got errors all over. Ideal'd be a client working with both UMTS and WiFi, but WiFi would suffice completely.
On the other hand, Skype works flowlessly
I use SJPhone:
http://www.sjphone.org/preview/ce/
You need to adjust settings to make it work correctly, also audio is a lot better with the USB headset, see this thread for right settings:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=59131
You can also use x-lite CE 1.01, find it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=58154
SJPhone all the way here too. It also works as a Vonage Softphone!
thanks guys. I saw SJphone but somehow I didn't manage access to the beta page.
I'll let you know
If your provider supports IAX protocol (which is much better while on hostile firewalled networks) my choice is http://www.voipsurfer.net/
My sincere thanks, guys I'm gonna try them all. At this point I created correctly the profile with SJPhone; the same profile works great with the windows client (after creating the profile I copied it to my desktop and the XP client accepted the profile like it was its own). After applying the profile the PDA client asks for id & pw, but I cannot register. Explorer is online so I know the internet connection is fine. I think I need some working yet.
I have managed to instal the pocketpc version of xlite and it works ok from the point of view of me trying to ring my home phone, it connecting and disconnecting ok and it registering as a broadband phone call through my isp when I check my online records.
The sound quality on the device is unusable.
When I use the supplied mini usb headphones I can hear the person I am calling very clearly but they can not hear me properly.
Can someone talk me through anything I can do to improve the settings so that I have a chance of using my device for voip calls whilst at home. I am not in the realms of anything to techincal though.

Skype - Which Version

I have an O2 XDA-mini s (aka a HTC Wizard) does anyone know which version of Skype I should download - The Wizard is not listed on the Skype site - other models are though - Thanks to anyone who might help
Just go here and select your model
http://www.skype.com/intl/en-gb/download/skype/mobile/brand_qtek_beta.html
That will automatically select the LowCPU version of Skype.
skype
It would really be cool if someone could get the sound to come out of the phone and not the back speakers. In addition to that if you select skype to connect with WiFi and 3G it will not auto log in. these are the only things that are preventing me from using skype mobile on a regular basis.

WM6 VoIP & pbxes

Hello everyone!
Situation: I have several VoIP provider (sipgate, 1und1...) My problem is I can only setup a single provider in my phone with built-in WM6 VoIP client.
Solution attempt: I set up an account with pbxes.org. There I added my SIP providers and an extension with username and password. Now I tried to set this up using the Sip Config Tool V2.0.1. Here are the settings:
Sip Server: pbxes.org Port: 5060
(tried others like sip.pbxes.org(com) and the IP)
username: username-extension_number
password: password
That's it. It's not working. The Today Internet-Calling-plugin tells me "searching....", but never to "selected"
I also tried using x-lite on my desktop pc. With the same settings I successfully registered and I was able to use pbxes just as it is supposed to be.
When using sipgate directly with WM6 it works, but not with pbxes.
I am kind of running out of ideas. So any help is really appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Stefan
Tried several times as well on my S620.
Now, two days ago got a S710 and was curious to test VOIP on it.
Very first time I tried I was thinking everything was fine, at least nearly.
The Today plugin showed "Searching" (like with providers it works with)
The icon for Internet Phone showed up.
Unfortunately it "semi worked" only that time, any other tests I tried the Today Plugin didn't even get into "Searching".
The bad thing is that it did work once, like meaning it could work. Now PBXES status shows as Registered but it isn't actually. The other bad thing is that I tried to post in their forum for help but didn't receive much info back.
Bad luck, but I'll try and try again. Maybe newer files one of these days and our probs would be solved.
Ka.
Subscribe message
I ever check the message from sip server, I found that windows mobile voip client not only send register message, but also try to send subscribe message, I guess that it is reason that some sip server only may work as registra, and not handle correctly subscribe. it seems the reason the client always display "searching", I will try to modify sip server to support subscribe message in the future.
try fring
try using fring...
it supports multiple sip accounts.. and actually register u not just subscribe you.
You are right, Fring or any other 3rd party app connecting to a SIP server can work maybe better than the "builtin" SIP functionality but personally would prefer being able to use a solution where I dial like usual and calls get automatically router to VOIP, not having to switch to a separate app.
This is why I'd rather like the builtin sip stack to work on its own with any SIP provider. I tested it with PBXES but doesn't work. I'm currently renting a VPS with Asterisk (Trixbox) installed and it does connect. Only prob is that even if it manages to register, seems MS VOIP implementation is still not really compatible or suitable for the use I wish to have.
Ka.
This is an old thread but this is the same problem I have on my HTC HD2 (Leo).
Installed sip drivers and voip config cabs and configured it with my account through pbxes and it is not working.
Can someone help?
Android (Moto droid, HTC Hero) I had no problem with pbxes and sipdroid...

important and fantastic
Dear ALL!!
As our senior member wrote earlyer,it is a truly amazing app.
Besides my problem,(happen to me) the program is working in EU or other modern countrys.Dubai is back in time with 20years in the communication yet.
The fantastic thing in Fring is that you belive it or not>> you don t need a sim card in your phone to use it!!
I advise you gyus to look at the youtube or google for the Fring videos!!You can be pretty surprised with the outcome!
Well,you def. need a strong wifi connection.!!!With 3G I don t guarantee full satysfaction!
Don t forget the phone specific download. On the Fring site, you need to find your own download cab.!
happy Fring helios

Download from my mirror or else select anyother htc devices ( i.e diamond ).
hmmm, just tried it, but it isn't very finger friendly... and no option to hide offline contacts....... it's got potential, but lacks user friendlyness
I just gave it another try too - and it still has the same annoying alert sound when receiving a chat msg! I can't find anyway to disable or change it other than muting my sound altogether with. If there was an option to change or disable the sound I might use it.
Skype or one of the others?
Thanks for the post.
So which is best and cheapest if I want to call
my folks thru fring to their cell phone, (but not smartphone): skype? Where can I find a comparison
of pros and cons between the different voice data internet systems? (I have a full data plan thru T-mobile, and use a Trinity wm5.)

is there a way to use fring with 3g WAP access?
in other words, for port 8080 only?
Screenshots?
Doesnt it work over GPRS? 3G? or WAP?... so it only works on wireless or while connected via activesync? O_O
starnge but happy
Heyyyahh All!
so many question about FRING.Why noone take a sneek wiev on youtube,or google, but the best is the Fring website.Planty answers, and even more pics films e.t.c are there.
When I met with this program first,I needed a free or at least cheap communication in Dubai!sorry FROM Dubai!Back to EU!
On 3G ,it works badly if you call your Mom!On wifi it needs a good signal.GPRS sometimes ok,but most of the week signals are just fine for chat!
The best option is to configure the SIP client. If you have voipbuster,it is easy!Check out the data on theyer website, and you can see what country is free to call?!!!!On the otherhand it is always free from computer 2 computer!!Or from Fring to another Fring user!
There is no cheaper tan FREE!!!!!
The annoying beep is there in the msg client. With the system sounds and noticication you can fine tune it.It is visible with HTC and some fresh Rom s !!
It is the IM client sounds in the notification setup. In the system setup tabell!
The connection is buffling stable on wifi, and it was specialy fantastic at the airports!!!Good to say helo I m alive for free!!The option to chat in the same time wit 6 different chat client is just great.
well: look at the website, and learn as I did.Find som wifi and Fring away!!!

fring on etisalat
Ahdeshpande!!
You right, but as u probably know, etisalat in UAE. is just another fu..ng stupid company, who belives in fate, and the kingdom of communication!!
Well there are a number of softwares what u can use to go on any website in the world.!
Not proxy servers,but others!
just a few>> ghost surf, hotspot shild, ultra surf...This is a small list of softwares,u can use during sign up on the Fring site!!
I do,and work fantastic. After the sign up procedure it will work on your phone!
It is truly a pain in the a.... how etisalat try to control the web.But u know,it is uncontrollable, and with one of the above mentioned software,u can browse anything!!ANYTHING!!!
P.S the ultrasurf programm is attached. It is a good start for invisible browsing!HAVE FUN

etisalat the bastardo!!!!
Please don t forget>>>> the u94 program works only on explorer. Not on mozzilla!!
So u can open now the Fring with explorer. After u unzipped the program u94,and setup is ok,please give a few seconds for bild up the vpn connection.Don t let the automatic site to come and load fully. It is not important.A Padlock appears on the lower left corner on your desktop,if the MEDICINE is ready to use.U can use for many other sites. If u need some hard sites,it isn t the strongest encryption. So it doesn t work for all sites, but many!!

VOIP Software

hey guys,
not sure if anyone knows the answer to this, or even if theres software available that will do this.....
i have the HD as a handset. it has wifi - we all know that.
my work has cisco VOIP system (SIP-based), that could be configured to allow traffic to our wifi network (or a new SSID setup for VOIP).
i know their is some SIP software out there, but apparently it disables bluetooth once installed - so this peice of software is no good.
HOWEVER, would i would like is when wifi is enabled and sucessfully connected and the SIP (VOIP) software sucessfully connects to the server, then all calls made are via wifi as default.
so, the questions:
- is there any software available that has the above features?
- would i need 'line2' enabled from my service provider?
think fring support sip
that would be a good test platform, but i forgot to mention that i would prefer it to be intergrated into the existing dialer, rather than a 3rd party app.
somewhat like how 'video calling' is, but obviously via a pre-configured SIP service.
the last time i looked into this voip drivers for integration stopped the GPS function working (it has been a couple of months since i last checked though), so i use either agephone (paid app) or fring (free) for SIP calls, both of which will use the contacts on your phone.
not so much the contacts, it's the fact i have to load/switch to a 3rd party app to use SIP.
the app you used that disabled GPS, could well be the one i used. i remember it disabling one of the phones' featured that i used.
