WM6 VoIP & pbxes - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

Hello everyone!
Situation: I have several VoIP provider (sipgate, 1und1...) My problem is I can only setup a single provider in my phone with built-in WM6 VoIP client.
Solution attempt: I set up an account with pbxes.org. There I added my SIP providers and an extension with username and password. Now I tried to set this up using the Sip Config Tool V2.0.1. Here are the settings:
Sip Server: pbxes.org Port: 5060
(tried others like sip.pbxes.org(com) and the IP)
username: username-extension_number
password: password
That's it. It's not working. The Today Internet-Calling-plugin tells me "searching....", but never to "selected"
I also tried using x-lite on my desktop pc. With the same settings I successfully registered and I was able to use pbxes just as it is supposed to be.
When using sipgate directly with WM6 it works, but not with pbxes.
I am kind of running out of ideas. So any help is really appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Stefan

Tried several times as well on my S620.
Now, two days ago got a S710 and was curious to test VOIP on it.
Very first time I tried I was thinking everything was fine, at least nearly.
The Today plugin showed "Searching" (like with providers it works with)
The icon for Internet Phone showed up.
Unfortunately it "semi worked" only that time, any other tests I tried the Today Plugin didn't even get into "Searching".
The bad thing is that it did work once, like meaning it could work. Now PBXES status shows as Registered but it isn't actually. The other bad thing is that I tried to post in their forum for help but didn't receive much info back.
Bad luck, but I'll try and try again. Maybe newer files one of these days and our probs would be solved.

Subscribe message
I ever check the message from sip server, I found that windows mobile voip client not only send register message, but also try to send subscribe message, I guess that it is reason that some sip server only may work as registra, and not handle correctly subscribe. it seems the reason the client always display "searching", I will try to modify sip server to support subscribe message in the future.

try fring
try using fring...
it supports multiple sip accounts.. and actually register u not just subscribe you.

You are right, Fring or any other 3rd party app connecting to a SIP server can work maybe better than the "builtin" SIP functionality but personally would prefer being able to use a solution where I dial like usual and calls get automatically router to VOIP, not having to switch to a separate app.
This is why I'd rather like the builtin sip stack to work on its own with any SIP provider. I tested it with PBXES but doesn't work. I'm currently renting a VPS with Asterisk (Trixbox) installed and it does connect. Only prob is that even if it manages to register, seems MS VOIP implementation is still not really compatible or suitable for the use I wish to have.

This is an old thread but this is the same problem I have on my HTC HD2 (Leo).
Installed sip drivers and voip config cabs and configured it with my account through pbxes and it is not working.
Can someone help?
Android (Moto droid, HTC Hero) I had no problem with pbxes and sipdroid...

Useful Utility for PocketPC - Comments please....

I connect to 4 or 5 different wireless lans in the various places I work and also to GPRS.
For each one the connection to the internet will be with a different provider and therefore the SMTP server I need to use for sending mail will be different, or may even be a POP service running on a local Exchange server.
This is a pain. I have written a utility that solves this problem by allowing you to switch smtp server for all your mail acccounts in any mail client quickly on the fly.
Basically you configure any mail clients to use an smtp server called virtualsmtp and then you set up all the different smtp servers you use by IP address in the utility.
The utility sets a host record in the registry for virtualsmtp pointing to whichever smtp server you want to run.
It's called SMTPSwitcher (very imaginatively) and runs from a notification icon in the system tray.
It's a bit flaky at the moment (mainly windowing problems and issues with the NotifyIcon) and I also can't delete the server entries because RegDeleteKey always returns error 5 : Access Denied.
If anyone wants to test it or has any ideas or comments please post here.
I'd be happy to test it for you
nice software. I was wishing for it last thursday when I had to send mails from the wifi access point of a friend.
I would be glad to test it (qtek 2020, windows mobile 2003), once my phone decide to work (it did a quick 3 seconds journey in my wc today. oops)
OK. I can post the app here.
1) There is no install program at the moment, just an exe file.
The best way to install is to just copy to your PPC.
You can run by clicking on exe or create a shortcut in your startup folder.
2) It is written in c# for the .NET compact framework so you must have the .net CF installed which you probably have anyway.
3) The biggest problem at the moment is that the Remove button does not work properly.
If you need to delete entries from the list you will need to use a registry editor. The entries are stored in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\SMTPSwitcher.
4) Sometimes the app stops responding and wont display its form when you click on the icon. If this happens you can try to terminate it using the Settings->System->Memory->RunningPrograms option or do a soft reset.
I will be trying to fix the Remove button and unless I can find a fix for some of the problems that cause the app to stop responding I will probably remove the feature that lets you run it as an icon.
I had this problem ages ago where i would go to a friends house or a wifi hot spot but of corse could not send email.
To get round this i purchased a domain name and email account with easyspace. this works well for me, as it done not matter how i am connected either GPRS, or WiFi i can still send emails from just the one account.
The only problem just noticed the other day is if i use orange UK it works fine on GPRS connection but not if its a 3g connection, Orange are looking into this.
Please dont take this as critisisum your program is a excellent idea, I just like the idea of not having to take any notice of how i am connected and email working
John
Subscribing to a roaming smtp service is another way round the problem as is using webmail.
My problem is that I have 5 or 6 mail accounts in different domains and a lot of roaming smtp services will not relay for any domains other than the ones you have with them.
I have uploaded a new version which has a DNS resolver built in.
Instead of typing in the IP address of any smtp server you want tp use you can enter the name and it will look up the ip address assuming you are connected to a network.

SIP VoIP on TyTN

My first post in this outstanding forum
I've spent quite some time looking for programs able to run my SIP VoIP desktop client on Tynt. On WinXP I use X-Lite with VoIPDiscount and I know for sure it's possible to configure X-Lite with many other SIP based services like VoIP Stunt.
Is there a tested client for Tynt? All I've found was for PPC2003 and I got errors all over. Ideal'd be a client working with both UMTS and WiFi, but WiFi would suffice completely.
On the other hand, Skype works flowlessly
I use SJPhone:
http://www.sjphone.org/preview/ce/
You need to adjust settings to make it work correctly, also audio is a lot better with the USB headset, see this thread for right settings:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=59131
You can also use x-lite CE 1.01, find it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=58154
SJPhone all the way here too. It also works as a Vonage Softphone!
thanks guys. I saw SJphone but somehow I didn't manage access to the beta page.
I'll let you know
If your provider supports IAX protocol (which is much better while on hostile firewalled networks) my choice is http://www.voipsurfer.net/
My sincere thanks, guys I'm gonna try them all. At this point I created correctly the profile with SJPhone; the same profile works great with the windows client (after creating the profile I copied it to my desktop and the XP client accepted the profile like it was its own). After applying the profile the PDA client asks for id & pw, but I cannot register. Explorer is online so I know the internet connection is fine. I think I need some working yet.
I have managed to instal the pocketpc version of xlite and it works ok from the point of view of me trying to ring my home phone, it connecting and disconnecting ok and it registering as a broadband phone call through my isp when I check my online records.
The sound quality on the device is unusable.
When I use the supplied mini usb headphones I can hear the person I am calling very clearly but they can not hear me properly.
Can someone talk me through anything I can do to improve the settings so that I have a chance of using my device for voip calls whilst at home. I am not in the realms of anything to techincal though.

Are multiple VoIP accounts at the same time possible?

Now that there is a solution for VoIP available I can't help but get greedy So far I used a softphone with multi provider support for this task, but now I wonder: Is it possible to use two different providers at the same time? Right now I am helping myself by switching by hotkey assigned cab files (which works pretty well btw), but what I am really looking for is using one provider for inbound calls and the others for outbound telephony. There are of course providers which can act as a proxy for others, but that solution never really worked out for me as many voip vendors seem to block these attempts (especially pointing a finger at SipGate here ). So, is there any solution for handling multiple providers?
Theoreticall, they are "Backup SIP Settings" you can provision in Windows Mobile 6. Just look at http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa926605.aspx.
Having only one working VOIP provider, I haven't tried this yet.
However, the format of the XML provisioning is very similar to the one I posed in http://cleanimport.xda/index.php?posts/299950/.
You just have to replace parm name="SIPSettings" by parm name="BackupSIPSettings".
If you try it out, please report here.
Thanks.
--eluth.
The CAB installs fine, but there is no difference between installing a new provider with just "SIPSettings" and "BackupSIPSettings" I tried this with Arcor and SIPGate to test ut whether both incoming numbers would be available at the same time.

Problems with a mail acount on Diamond. POP3 receive working, SMTP send not working

Hy everybody, I have from two weeks already a HTC diamond, a beutiful phone with everything you need apart the up time.
I am not a noob in internet technologies, I am working with and on the net for more then 10 years already.
I configured on my phone a hotmail account, the easiest one, a yahoo account, a gmail account and another yahoo account and all work fine but my job mail account, the one I configured on a SE K850 with no difficulty is not working on this beautiful diamond.
Is a simple POP3/SMTP account on a private mail server and I have no problem configure it on any outlook, or outlook express on any computer. My colleagues has blackberry and i phones and works fine, i was the only stupid enough to buy a WM phone. Incoming is POP3 on 110 outgoing requires authentication SMTP on 25.
I tried to configure outlook I have on diamond is not working at all, i tried to configure it as a normal account receive is working, send is not working.
I tried to go in connections-advanced server settings-and to change connection (i have Internet, Work, Vodafone Live, Vodafone MMS and Vodafone Ro), is not working, i have an active internet connection, wap, i tried with WiFi active, without, the same result, receive ok, send it says "The message(s) could not be sent. check that you have network coverage and that your network coverage is correct. Then try sending again."
As the receive is working and the log in information for send is identical with the log in information for receive I think that the account information is correct.
So, where is the problem, can anybody help me? I would like to configure the outlook and (if possible) synchronize it with the one on my computer, it would be the best, but I don't know why I can't, and if outlook is not possible maybe I can get it to work as a regular mail account.
Please don't tell me to do something I did already.
Thanks,
Ionut
maybe a TCP view or TPC log would help me to find the problem.
TCP view or TPC log would help me to find the problem. Do you know any? I found a thread on it but still no answer. WX util is not working, i need something like TCP View.

I really don't like WM because is so opaque, is doing things but does them as he wants and not as you want. For example, why the hell when I am connected on a wifi connection is using my mobile internet connection to send and receive mails????
check the thread i posted in the Touch Pro forum. This was a common problem WM6.1 resulting from a new WM feature. Sometimes sending would work and sometimes not..
Anyway, microsoft recently published a patch for this..You can find the link in the thread below. It is meant for all WM6.1 devices
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=444856
This did work for me by the way
Hi - I have a similar issue, but with gmail. Incoming works perfectly via imap, however outgoing emails do not work at all. I tried the patch mentioned above, changing outgoing smtp.gmail.com to smtp.gmail.com:465 or 587 and it still doesn't work. Also tried to create the account again to no avail.
I used the standard settings on gmail site https://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=78886 - dunno what I am missing here!! Any help would be nice
Hi people why don't yo read before posting, this is not the right thead...!!! please.

Gingerbread VOIP calling problems

Hi guys,
I am not sure if this is the right forum, but at least it is a desire hd.
Their is CM7 nightly #5 installed and I have an issue with outgoing VOIP calls.
Call reception is working quite well.
(Provider is 1und1 germany via pbxes.org, and a asterisk server installed out company)
When doing the call, I can select to use "internet call" and then there appears a red ribon on top of the screen telling me that "some thing is out side of some thing" (Sorry, the message is not very helpful) you can see details on the screenshots.
This happens with every number, no matter which internet provider I use.
To verify that the setting are right, I used SipDroid, and it worked perfectly.
Any hints would be great! Thank you very much
I am on CM7 #5 using pbxes.org and VOIP calling works just fine for me over wifi.
Strange...
Any ideas? Did it work from immediately or did you have to test around a little bit? Did you change the "advanced settings"? Or just Domain, Username and Password?
thanks
I managed to configure freeconet.pl, Polish voip operator on sipdroid. Never tried on wifi, but works good on 3g except sometimes especialy witl low signal may drop or take a while to connect. Not dificult to configure too
Update. On WiFi it works brilliant, like a wired phone domain, username, password. I also played with some codes and stuff but thiswas only out of ccuriosity...
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Hello habnefrage,
Cynogen mod 7(CM7) is not a stable ROM. Its just a custom rom made to improve the overall user interface. It is not developed by your smart-phone company’s developer, hence it might contain certain bugs which are interrupting with SIP tasks. I prefer you install the official android rom and perform the VOIP tasks then. I’m sure you shall get positive results.
Answering your 2nd question, I would suggest other VOIP apps you should try: ringcentral, TheRealPBX.
