Skype - Which Version - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

I have an O2 XDA-mini s (aka a HTC Wizard) does anyone know which version of Skype I should download - The Wizard is not listed on the Skype site - other models are though - Thanks to anyone who might help

Just go here and select your model
http://www.skype.com/intl/en-gb/download/skype/mobile/brand_qtek_beta.html

That will automatically select the LowCPU version of Skype.

skype
It would really be cool if someone could get the sound to come out of the phone and not the back speakers. In addition to that if you select skype to connect with WiFi and 3G it will not auto log in. these are the only things that are preventing me from using skype mobile on a regular basis.

IP Telephony

Hi,
my new provider offers a GPRS flatrate and I wonder if there is a tool to make IP telephony (for international calls) possible.
Does anybody know a company which offers that kind of service for PPCs? Or is there a kind of workaround to use this service from XDAII via GPRS?
I've been using Net2phone and Webphone before, I think it is impossible to convert and run their access programs on PPC. So maybe there is a way?!
Thanks for any comments on that topic...

You may want to try MS Portrait and Skype which now has a PPC client.
Skype for PPC
Has anybody used skype and a SD Wifi Card?
Has anybody used skype and a SD Wifi Card?
I did i works PErfect i have a mda 2 and a scandisk sd wifi card
perfect only no video
You can use Net2Phone and other VOIP services on the Pocket PC...simply download either X Lite, X Pro or SJPhone and set them up to use the Net2Phone servers. Or you could just download the already-set FWD Pocket PC client from www.fwd.pulver.com. Voice quality over GPRS may not be all that good though...
There is a PPC version of XTen's VoIP client (the probably best VoIP software client), but it costs $50 for the newest version (X-Pro). see: http://www.xten.com/index.php?menu=products&smenu=xpro
But it seems like speech quality is problematical on the imate devices. see: http://support.xten.net/viewforum.php?f=7
What I was able to find was this previous version of X-Lite, which seems to be free: http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=8886
According to a reply to an email I sent to Xten Networks, you can download a trial version of X-Pro's Pocket PC edition from their site. The *.cab can be downloaded straight to your XDA from the following site:
http://builds.xten.net/download/?8cc389c2722bfa6f7dbb62de512cd930
Alternatively, you can download the *.exe file to your PC and then install it to your XDA. It can be found at:
http://builds.xten.net/download/?0c14043762718fd7b11deb85e7b6a0f8.
The user's guide is available at:
http://xten.com/docs/X-PRO_PocketPC_Users_Guide.pdf
Hope this helps
I'd love to hear otherwise, but I don't think this could work at all. VoIP requires a consistent 17k data transfer with little loss and low latency (under 225ms). All my testing points to about 1000-1400ms latency and heavy packet loss, often greater than 50%. This is part of the design of GPRS; using "spare" data space so that the voice calls are always clear.

Any free VOIP softphone for O2 Exec ?

Hi,
Anyone knows any free VOIP softphone for O2 Exec which allows to configure to use third-party SIP providers (e.g. sipdiscount, sipgate etc.) ?
Thanks!
SV
use skype
Sorry, I meant to configure with SIP protocol.
sjphone, works fine
With SJPhone, at the moment, when calling, you have to use loud speakers or headset not the phone speaker. Is it right?
Thanks!
That happens with any phone edition device.. Apps don't have access to the other speakers...
Re Sip
I have tried many. However most free products are generic to a provider,
Successful products are:
Xten lite from xten Networks
SJ Phone this is the best and is easily configured to multiple profiles.
It intergrates nicely with our office Sip server too,

May I know what is SIP protocol?
Is it different with Skype protocol? Is SIP protocol is a standard one?
Thx.

SIP is a standard - most VOIP application and hardware uses it.
I meen: SIP RFC 3261
Skype is a own protocol and only skype clients can connect each other using skype soft phone or by skype gateway.
I guess that the source is not public.
I use AGEphone.
http://www.ageet.com/us/
It is not Free.
But, maybe best.
Files are light, but works very well.
the sound is very clear.
We can use SIPdiscount, VoipBuster, VoipStunt, StanaPhone, SIPphone, Free World DialUp, Agilephone, etc all at the same time.
I installed SJPhone and could get connected. I could dial my cell phone number and it will ring my cell phone.
But there is no sound whatsoever in my Universal/JJ.
Can anybody help me? Did I miss something? I tried to plug in my headset but no luck as well.
Thanks.
Also, may I know which version of SJPhone you guys use?
Can you send the link for the download? I can only find the one for 2003SE and 2003, nothing for WM5.
Since I didn't see a follow-up post by anyone, I'd like to say that the SJPhone for Windows 2003 SE works with the universal *only in portrait mode*.
Has anyone [other than shamilsh] tried the ageet soft phone suggested in this thread?
Does Skype work over GPRS or just 3G?
Regards.
Just for text messages, skype is ok with GRPS - but for voice you need 3G oder WLAN.
Hi
Any sip cliente for wm5 that have G.729 (8 kbps) or G.723 (5.3 & 6.3 kbps codecs ?
sj phone only 711 or their own gsm....

Is that need 3G as in would be slow, or need as in can't do it...
Just that GPRS is free for the T-Mobile plan I'm using, but think I have to pay for 3G (Relax + Web & Walk thing)
are there any programs that allow routing of the sound to phone speakers instead of main speakers?
Guys....just use sj phone with sip service from voipbuster.com and forget the rest.... and now you are talking....FREE and with free local rate call back number also...now...that ROCKS

SKYPE

I am running the CIngular branded ROM downloaded from this site and every sice the installation Skype will not work. Skype comes up and asks if I want it to connect to the cellular network and when I click yes it immediately says Cannot connet, check network settings.
Network settings are fine, IE works, OPutlook works, no problems.
Any ideas?
If you want to use Voip I suggest you use Sjlabs WM5 beta.
Skype is IMHO too heavy for handleds.
Skype that WORKS w/ Voice feature on PDA/Phone?
Dears,
DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHICH ONE DOES WORK WITH SKYPE VOICE??
I have been researching extensively different types of PDA-Cellsphone combos that WILL work with Skype-OUT/IN voice feature, the Skype.com site provides a list of ones that will not work (such as Jus-Jam and HTC TyTN).
Thank you.

SIP VoIP on TyTN

My first post in this outstanding forum
I've spent quite some time looking for programs able to run my SIP VoIP desktop client on Tynt. On WinXP I use X-Lite with VoIPDiscount and I know for sure it's possible to configure X-Lite with many other SIP based services like VoIP Stunt.
Is there a tested client for Tynt? All I've found was for PPC2003 and I got errors all over. Ideal'd be a client working with both UMTS and WiFi, but WiFi would suffice completely.
On the other hand, Skype works flowlessly
I use SJPhone:
http://www.sjphone.org/preview/ce/
You need to adjust settings to make it work correctly, also audio is a lot better with the USB headset, see this thread for right settings:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=59131
You can also use x-lite CE 1.01, find it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=58154
SJPhone all the way here too. It also works as a Vonage Softphone!
thanks guys. I saw SJphone but somehow I didn't manage access to the beta page.
I'll let you know
If your provider supports IAX protocol (which is much better while on hostile firewalled networks) my choice is http://www.voipsurfer.net/
My sincere thanks, guys I'm gonna try them all. At this point I created correctly the profile with SJPhone; the same profile works great with the windows client (after creating the profile I copied it to my desktop and the XP client accepted the profile like it was its own). After applying the profile the PDA client asks for id & pw, but I cannot register. Explorer is online so I know the internet connection is fine. I think I need some working yet.
I have managed to instal the pocketpc version of xlite and it works ok from the point of view of me trying to ring my home phone, it connecting and disconnecting ok and it registering as a broadband phone call through my isp when I check my online records.
The sound quality on the device is unusable.
When I use the supplied mini usb headphones I can hear the person I am calling very clearly but they can not hear me properly.
Can someone talk me through anything I can do to improve the settings so that I have a chance of using my device for voip calls whilst at home. I am not in the realms of anything to techincal though.

VOIP calls app for WM5 - works with googletalk

Well, I apologize if I am duplicating the thread but here is the news:
Fring is an application for WM5 (or WM6) that allowes you to make a phone calls to the (i.e.) googletalk users over the GPRS, 3G or WiFi.
Here is the link and follow the process up - I have tested it and it works perfect.
http://www.fring.com/download/
Registration goes over the SMS message which you get with the link to download an application. Once installed, you will need to register on your phone and then choose what apps you will use (such as google talk or skype or several more) ...
And that's it...
fake!
at least it cannot work on GPRS.
