?????? Fanboys rating.....
The front facing camera quality is terrible compared to my old oneplus 6t. The image is noisy and dark. Especially when not taken on preinstalled camera app eg: snapchat.

Just took a selfie in low light and also in portrait mode which I didn't realise existed on the front (maybe it didn't on the 3XL) as I don't really take selfies. It came out pretty good

Bad. Selfies are really bad with Pixel 5. I came to Pixel 5 from 2XL and it took far superior selfies. Pixel 5 selfies are not sharp (misfocused) and they are smoothed out even with all the face retouch settings disabled. I have no idea why, but it lacks the classic "pixel look". Main camera is awesome tho.

I cannot understand why Google makes the images taken from the front camera been not Sharp. Initially the picture is taken sharp but the phone ends up with a not Sharp one

To be honest, the front facing camera is pretty good compared to other Android Smartphones as long as you're using the default Camera App.

I think there's something wrong with the front camera. It's like you cannot turn off face retouch - that's a shame!
There's already a threat at the google forum.
Alternative gcam-versions don't help. It's the same problem on the p4a!

why many Pixel 5 user said that Front Camera really Bad?

Best selfie camera I've ever had. 16mp plus a flash. Also has the selfie enhancement built into the app to use if desired.
Excellent quality. Portrait mode picture taken by Arnova's Gcam.
The front camera is outstanding.. I really love the quality of the pictures taken from the front cam.
Just a side note about the selfie camera:
It is advertised as a 16MP, but the Moto camera defaults to a 4MP (Adaptive Low Light) setting. You can manually choose the 16MP setting, but it's not selected by default. Also, I have yet to see any 3rd party camera use anything higher than 4MP on the selfie camera. I've tried multiple GCam mods, as well as several camera apps from the Gplay store, and they can only see 4MP as the highest resolution.
I'm not sure if it's a 16MP sensor that down-samples to 4MP for better low-light performance, or if it's a 4MP sensor that up-samples to 16MP. Either way, I'm not complaining about the quality of the images. They're quite nice, and take fantastic photos!

I'm from Brazil and here was noticed that the front camera can't focus objects that are close.
For an example, if you take a selfie, your face won't be focused but only what is behind you.
It is strange that I only see these complains about that here in Brazil.
Does anyone here having the same issue?

People here are commenting that the front camera has a fixed focus, so if you are not in the right distance, the picture will be a little blurry.

Almost every phone has a fixed focus front facing camera. The problem is that, in the X4, the focus distance is way higher than the usual. Half of the Galaxy S7 Flat units has this "problem" aswell, although way worse.
In photos where the subject is a big group of people, this is nice, as most people will be in focus. However, in a closeup selfie you will be very unfocused.
In my experience, the selfie has to be taken with at least 70% of an arm length from you to the phone, so you will be in focus.

I couldn't find the "face_brackets on" in the debugging and tools so I ignored it.
It still works though.

Photos have very high contrast for my liking, you could tweak it when using pro mode, but as someone that likes to use things out of the box, it isn't a good choice. Details are okay-ish and portrait mode also works well.
Front camera is absolutely pathetic. I bought Honor 9n for my sister and that thing takes 10x better looking selfies. Coming from Honor 8, i am really really disappointed with the selfie cam [and the back cam tbh].
Front cam just increase brightness to the point where my mustache look pale reddish pink and a few part of my bread [fineline] is completely missing. The base quality of the front camera is subpar and everytime i take a selfie, i goto edit and add [Filter-Nostalgia-Nostalgia] effect so that i look somewhat real and human.
The base quality is really really B A D. Maybe i feel like this because i came from Honor 8 and my sister's 9n takes waaaaaaaaay better pics ! Its no the camera, its the software just whitewashing everything, reducing contrast and useless beautification even though i set it to 0 [and perfect selfie off].....
I think maybe the camera and software is try harding to detect face under low-life condition for faceunlock but in the end does the same when taking selfie?!
[Running on the latest version- i hope they atleast fix it with P]
The selfie camera puts of some decent quality photos. Portrait mode is also really good on this phone.

Not as good as it could be but I rarely use it or find myself taking selfies anyways unless they include the family with me.
Android 10 ("x" version) review, haven't tried Android 11.
Front facing cameras with autofocus are unicorns in the mobile world and this one has it (PDAF). As a result, selfie quality is massively improved by just this alone. 10 megapixels is also good as less is more when it comes to small sensors and this is a pretty small sensor.
However, using it with the stock camera drives me nuts! The problem is face detection. The moment it detects a face, it ruins the white balance and is prone to blowing out hightlights. It wants to give a "healthy" glow to the skin and and really emphasizes the exposure of it, but what you get it is a yellow-green hue that massively throws everything off and blow outs with nothing to about them (using HDR for selfies is often terrible regardless no matter the OEM). It's insane. You can sometimes trick it and watch the white balance go back and forth in a "what do I do" manner, like a optical illusion where the human brain doesn't know what perspective it to latch onto. An option to turn off face detection is mandatory. The selfie camera also defaults to a beauty mode ENABLED and there is no way to set another default. You can change the options of it to as low as the sliders will allow, but you need to watch for it all the time. Quite annoying and poorly designed. On the plus side, the stock camera has an option for distortion correction and really convenent remote shutter options using a fist or your voice. Otherwise, the output is slightly better than regular cameras because of the PDAF and LG's processing leaning sharp but not OVERDONE (it is way better than the back camera, no oversharpening halos or weirdness). Nothing will beat RAW, but this is one of the better ones.

Same selfie cam as OP8pro, nonetheless the selfies on the oneplus are superior in exposure, detail, focusing

Oneplus 8 Pro has a different selfie camera sensor.
The selfie on Find X2 Pro lacks any kind of stabilization, OP has it stabilized (and well).

No problem Sir.
Find X2 Pro's selfie photos are decent, I'd say average. HDR is present and works well, although in front portrait mode it might overbrighten the image.
Oneplus 8 Pro has it stabilized which makes for much better vlogging experience. On the other hand, Oppo has a night mode for the front camera which drastically improves low light performance.
Personally I'm glad Oppo scrimped on the front camera quality as I almost never use it and a better camera would only increase the price.
It gets a pass. Certainly not as good as the pixel or iPhone. Seems to beautify too much.
I'd agree, the weakest part of the phone - HDR not that good, photos come out soft and stabilization isn't great. Not as good as the OnePlus 8 pro although that's not perfect either, very sharp but makes everyone look red and too warm.
Selfie camera is very poor comparing to other mobiles in the same price range .

Coming from iPhone 11 Pro, i totally agree with you. The selfie mode is way over exposed most of the time and in case you have light coming right in the camera the picture is very bad. The iPhone does it way better.
In definition, when conditions are good (no direct light source in the lens) this sensor is way better than the iPhone's one.
Is selfie camera there better that in the latest iPhone?

Yes, the iPhone 12 selfie camera is definitely better than the Find X2 Pro.

there is a weird issue going on with the selfie camera on the global version Redmi Note 9 Pro with 16mp. The quality of the photos taken without flash is very poor and soft / blurry like taken from a very old phone's camera but when the flash is enabled the quality is perfect and the photos look natural and sharp with true to life colours . I turned off beautification but didn't help so the only solution was to have the selfie flash enabled permanently even during the day under good lighting conditions in order to shoot photos looking really good . Although having the flash permanently enabled doesn't hurt it seems that there is a bug that should be fixed cause unfortunately HDR and flash don't work at the same time and a good HDR is also important .
