Not as good as it could be but I rarely use it or find myself taking selfies anyways unless they include the family with me.

Android 10 ("x" version) review, haven't tried Android 11.
Front facing cameras with autofocus are unicorns in the mobile world and this one has it (PDAF). As a result, selfie quality is massively improved by just this alone. 10 megapixels is also good as less is more when it comes to small sensors and this is a pretty small sensor.
However, using it with the stock camera drives me nuts! The problem is face detection. The moment it detects a face, it ruins the white balance and is prone to blowing out hightlights. It wants to give a "healthy" glow to the skin and and really emphasizes the exposure of it, but what you get it is a yellow-green hue that massively throws everything off and blow outs with nothing to about them (using HDR for selfies is often terrible regardless no matter the OEM). It's insane. You can sometimes trick it and watch the white balance go back and forth in a "what do I do" manner, like a optical illusion where the human brain doesn't know what perspective it to latch onto. An option to turn off face detection is mandatory. The selfie camera also defaults to a beauty mode ENABLED and there is no way to set another default. You can change the options of it to as low as the sliders will allow, but you need to watch for it all the time. Quite annoying and poorly designed. On the plus side, the stock camera has an option for distortion correction and really convenent remote shutter options using a fist or your voice. Otherwise, the output is slightly better than regular cameras because of the PDAF and LG's processing leaning sharp but not OVERDONE (it is way better than the back camera, no oversharpening halos or weirdness). Nothing will beat RAW, but this is one of the better ones.

CAMERA: Selfie Quality

Love, love, love the wide-angle. Also, the Note5, for better or worse, seems to apply a skin smoothing effect, which makes me look better than normal (my face needs all the help it can get!), so I like it, but it's also not very natural. And this is on the automatic setting. Hum.
Concur on the skin smoothing effect. A little much for my tastes. Looks unnatural and 'photoshopped'.

way better than my LG G4. g4 becomes small screen size when doing selfie. unlike note 5 same screen size. can easily detect its lower quality than the camera at the back. still its a great improvement from previous note series.
"Automatic" Night Mode Ruins the Almighty Camera
The night mode is so frustrating since it cannot be disabled/enabled manually, especially in the front camera. It seems its turning on in moderate lit areas since the front camera(ONLY) is laggy although there is no "sign"(hand) on the top right of the screen showing night mode turned on(I know, wierd right ?), i downloaded a third party app that has no night mode and the camera was smooth(with the same lighting as in the default camera app which means the night mode in the default camera was not needed at that time). So the problem is with the software regarding night mode. Now in the default camera app when i enter a high lit room, the camera becomes super smooth(no lag) . And now regarding the "smoothing effect"(beautifying effect) it is not that big of a deal since it is not that visible unless you increase it in the settings. OVERALL: Camera(wide angle - great quality pictures/videos - many modes - Fast shutter speed/response/launch etc.) is GREAT. Hope there will be a phone update to fix the night mode issue without affecting both the qualities mentioned above and the ones not mentioned.
Side Note: does anyone else have the issue i am facing(no pun intended) ?
I have not taken a selfie for a long time. I used to take LOTS of them and send them to my girl frined. Doesn't matter which Apps I used, facebook, messenger, instagram, snapchat or regular default text message app the quality of the seflie came out nice. Even in the low light, it wasn't the best and there was some grainy digital noise but still looked good. I don't use a lot of filters or post pic editing or changing like instagram. But my girlfriend did mention, the selfies looked nice and good quality. Not as good as the iphone 6s selfie,. but better much better than the note 3 selfie camera quality.

Photo quality

Say "cheese", then rate this thread to express how photos taken with the HTC U11+ come out. A higher rating indicates that photos offer rich color (without over-saturating), sharp detail (with all subjects in-focus), and appropriate exposure (with even lighting).

Colour and exposure is good
Sharpness is poor for anything other than static objects
I'm trying out the Google Camera Port to see if there's any improvement, but otherwise I'm really disappointed in the lack of sharpness when there is any movement involved

Try using pro mode - sport
Tried it just now, pictures come out far too grainy and dark, because of the high ISO to compensate high shutter speed
I could adjust the settings, but I didn't want to get into the realm of adjusting all settings to take a quick snap
In the exact situation the camera is great in a well lit situation but anything other than that I need the subject to be completely still.
Disappointed I may send it back and get the Pixel 2 XL.
I played around with my friends Pixel 2XL, tested side by side shots, it isn't much better at all
The Google Camera Port on the U11+ is better, but only slightly with respect to motion.
In my testing so far;
- Less motion blur with Google Camera Port, but it's still there
- Definitely better detail with the U11+ camera
- Less blown out highlights with Google Camera Port
- Quicker shutter speed with U11+ camera all round

What is this port and where can I find it?
Is it the one made by Mark Harman on the Play store?
Hi, it's the port of the camera from the Pixel 2, you can find it here;
https://www.xda-developers.com/google-camera-hdr-ported/
There is a bug- it force closes in slow motion mode
I've been using it more, and I've found that the Google Camera seems to have a kind of 'make- up' effect to people's skin. People's skin looks unnatural, almost too good. It doesn't look BAD on the HTC camera, it just looks real
Please let me know how you get on

What's your verdict?
I'm using a new version now, the one with added portrait mode
Check this out

I'm using v1.3
Limited testing so far, but portrait mode works great
Detail is better than the port I was using before, and as before there are less blown out highlights then the U11+ camera
Very good especially for a smartphone. Shot using Stock camera app in pro mode for DNG, processed on PC https://photos.app.goo.gl/bJCCjiUbrisyCs6J3

Photos have very high contrast for my liking, you could tweak it when using pro mode, but as someone that likes to use things out of the box, it isn't a good choice. Details are okay-ish and portrait mode also works well.
Front camera is absolutely pathetic. I bought Honor 9n for my sister and that thing takes 10x better looking selfies. Coming from Honor 8, i am really really disappointed with the selfie cam [and the back cam tbh].
Front cam just increase brightness to the point where my mustache look pale reddish pink and a few part of my bread [fineline] is completely missing. The base quality of the front camera is subpar and everytime i take a selfie, i goto edit and add [Filter-Nostalgia-Nostalgia] effect so that i look somewhat real and human.
The base quality is really really B A D. Maybe i feel like this because i came from Honor 8 and my sister's 9n takes waaaaaaaaay better pics ! Its no the camera, its the software just whitewashing everything, reducing contrast and useless beautification even though i set it to 0 [and perfect selfie off].....
I think maybe the camera and software is try harding to detect face under low-life condition for faceunlock but in the end does the same when taking selfie?!
[Running on the latest version- i hope they atleast fix it with P]
The selfie camera puts of some decent quality photos. Portrait mode is also really good on this phone.

I'm not a great photographer but the photos I've taken have been ok. The main complaint I have is how badly the lens skews the image on the edges. It's pretty bad.
I wish the world was in a better state and I wasn't sick so I could take more pic samples.
Wish this had spot metering. But LG as usual has had software that takes away from a good camera.
I love the results when using in the manual mode. The histogram is a big plus.
My main complaint is even upright my photos seem to end up being rotated.
LG Software still struggling "mosaic" post-production below average light condition, but night mode is quite good! Not app, just effects. Right now I'm testing some Gcam distros, from yesterday - UltraCVM prepared for Mi 9T (both of them works with 64mpx sensors).
Is there anyway to use 3d photos like on Facebook?
The main reason for the V60 is awesome manual photo/video controls. The phone does well for auto modes in good lighting, but they are still over aggressive with noise reduction that causes the water color effect (also apparent in the V20 I had prior, so this just how LG wants it). HDR works well, but doesn't always get the white balance right and wish I could use it while also having some manual control. I also wish they would've went with a straight up 16MP main sensor. Shooting at 64MP is no better than the binned 16MP option, and often worse.
I did "stress test" the camera the other day. I prefer long exposure photos and these were from a couple nights ago. I was limited on time and location, so pardon the motion blur in the light painting photos. But still... Let's see Gcam do this!
Couldn't you tell what sensor V60 camera is based on? Thnx
64 MP shots in bright outdoor settings are amazing on this phone. Definitely an underrated camera by most reviewers imo.
Random shots + Basic Snapseed correction.

?????? Fanboys rating.....
The front facing camera quality is terrible compared to my old oneplus 6t. The image is noisy and dark. Especially when not taken on preinstalled camera app eg: snapchat.
Just took a selfie in low light and also in portrait mode which I didn't realise existed on the front (maybe it didn't on the 3XL) as I don't really take selfies. It came out pretty good
Bad. Selfies are really bad with Pixel 5. I came to Pixel 5 from 2XL and it took far superior selfies. Pixel 5 selfies are not sharp (misfocused) and they are smoothed out even with all the face retouch settings disabled. I have no idea why, but it lacks the classic "pixel look". Main camera is awesome tho.
I cannot understand why Google makes the images taken from the front camera been not Sharp. Initially the picture is taken sharp but the phone ends up with a not Sharp one
To be honest, the front facing camera is pretty good compared to other Android Smartphones as long as you're using the default Camera App.
I think there's something wrong with the front camera. It's like you cannot turn off face retouch - that's a shame!
There's already a threat at the google forum.
Alternative gcam-versions don't help. It's the same problem on the p4a!
why many Pixel 5 user said that Front Camera really Bad?
