How to convert updated Hydrogen OS (10.0.7) to Oxygen OS - OnePlus 7T Pro 5G McLaren Questions & Answers

Is there any way without rooting the device? From Hydrogen OS (10.0.7) to Oxygen OS?

Nope. Normally MSM tool would be the method, but MSM tools have been made to not flash devices other than the device they were designed for starting with this device. Root will be the only method of there is a way going forward. Only 7 Pro and older will allow for this.

Thanks for the response I tried to install an open beta Oxygen OS and it worked, so perhaps install the stable version after?

Oh that's why. Sorry, I always assume people are referring to the TMO 5G variant from the US. In that case, conversion works!

I just updated to 9.0.11. I believe this is McLaren edition specific. All McLaren features still work on mine. Also seems like it's faster and smoother now. Damn I love this phone!

No I'm not. 100% stock right now. I haven't needed unlock/root just yet. I most likely will in the near future. Sorry brotha. I know you can relock the bootloader and unroot then download the OTA but that is a pain. It may be the only way for now until someone uploads the zip...

Hi, This is 34_OTA
McLaren is 45_OTA
Do you have an actual McLaren device or a device with a McLaren Ported ROM?
34 ist correct. Also saved mine while the update was being executed.

Of course I have a real McLaren phone.
And the two updates I have received from stock 9.0.9 to 9.0.10 and 9.0.11 have both been with 34_OTA in the filename.
As far as I know 45_OTA doesn't exist, McLaren is still a OnePlus 6T.

Downgrade from Pie to Oreo

I've been trying to downgrade from the latest pie release but I always get the same error due to how Samsung has blocked bootloader downgrades. Is there anyway around this or am I stuck on Pie?

You are probably stucked because you upgraded to the latest bootloader:
After updating bootloader to U5/S5 (as in case of G95xFXXU5DSFB) it will not be possible to downgrade it again to any U2/S2/U3/S3/U4/S4 version

Here's a workaround:
Backup your present baseband on TWRP, flash ALEXNDR Oreo's ROM then restore your baseband, otherwise you won't have mobile signal and your IMEI will be unknown.
So in theory the only way to downgrade to Oreo or less, is having the bootloader unlocked with TWRP right? if not, you're stuck
No Bootloader downgrade. Not possible.

I can't speak for the OP but for me it is more battery friendly, has better perfomance, allow me to debloat more apps than PIE and has better mod/theme support and looks better (didn't like Pie UI).

Quick question for you @nemesisexsp as you seem to know what you're talking about.
I'm in the same boat as OP. attached is my SOFTWARE INFORMATION section with my baseband and whatever. Slightly different to what you've posted on your screenshot.
Can you suggest which files I should use from the ALEXANDR Oreo Mod selection? also, just the ROM, or do i need to do something with the BL files also?
I'm rooted (with TWRP), so that shouldn't be any issue.

I suggest you flash the last Oreo ROM available for the S8 model (SM-G950F/FD). After you flash it you can boot normally in the ROM and see if your mobile signal is fine, if it isn't just restore your PIE baseband on TWRP.
Here's the original post in _alexndr thread where you can find the ROM link:

Thanks for the quick response.
I made backups via TWRP just incase, but it looks like everything worked. [see image]
Thank you
It's also got me thinking...
-could you install other custom roms that are Oreo-based?
-What makes Alexndr's rom special?
-Is it technically possible to install stock oreo?

I think you can install other ROMs. I just suggested _alexndr because it's as close to stock as possible as the OP was trying to flash via Odin. But i believe that we can't install older firmware via Odin due to the updated bootloader.

Because Pie is absolute trash on the S8 Active. Battery life went way down hill, constantly stutters like the CPU is loaded or it is thermal throttling, notification screen blanks preventing you from see any in the bar. Tapping notification doesn't always open. They ruined the camera UI. Control via bluetooth doesn't work anymore(forget the name but used to when I started my car it would automatically open Pandora and play. Instead now I have to unlock the phone and open Pandora manually".
I only wouldn't be surprised if it come out later that Samsung pulled and able and deliberately crippled devices to encourage upgrades. Joke's on them because my upgrade will be a different brand.

I don't know if it is safe or not but I wouldn't recommend using a theme designed for older TWRP. I did that a few years ago. It was on a different phone but it lead to a soft brick.

IN2025 - Open Beta 3 to Stable Branch

Hello!
I've got the IN2025 (global/NA) version of the OP8Pro and have been running Open Beta since it released. I want to downstep to the Stable branch of releases as I plan on selling the phone soon, so don't want it on a beta build when I do so. However I've not been able to figure out how. I attempted downloading and attempting a forced update and it didn't work, and have not been able to figure out how to get it working.
Anyone able to help?
There's a few guides for this already but generally speaking going from ob3 to stable you'll need to wipe.
1. Back up
2. Disable magisk modules
3. Download oxygen updater.
4. Take the install
5-A) I didn't use the ob3 release but at this point if you were going from 10 stable or 11 stable to 11 stable then you would click install on the update and then before rebooting you would install magisk to the slot after OTA, you can try this but may not work and shouldn't make any difference.
Or
5-B) take the update, let it wipe, set up phone, install magisk manager then flash a patched boot.img
You didn't state of you're rooted or not, If you're not rooted then follow 5-B but obviously don't bother rooting.
If you are then it's your choice.
5-A would be considered a dirty flash, I'm not sure if it will allow it coming from OB to stable, it should seem obvious when you're going through it.
I just downloaded an unofficial rom that allowed a downgrade and straight from than just to be on the safe side installed the official current firmware

To my knowledge, you can flash any of the different variants (KB05AA,-BA,-BD,...) on any phone and they'll work.
So you can use the roll back zip, which takes you back to OOS 11.11, and then install the version you want (KB05BA) of OOS 11.13.
I don't know what they mean, but I assume KB is for kebab, and AA is for the global variant, BA is for the EU variant, and BD is for the Indian variant.
But that naming convention seems to have gone out the window with OOS 12.

It is a pleasure to inform you that I was able to rollback to Android 11. At first I used the EU MSM Tool but I got the DDR error, so I tried the International one and it worked without any issues. I must admit I was pretty nervous tbh. I used to do this a lot on my xiaomi mi max 2, but this phone is quite expensive to end up with a brick xd.
