All Software issues of the "ZTE Nubia Red Magic 5g" + Nubias reaction - Nubia Red Magic 5G / 5S Guides, News, & Discussion

This thread is a request to nubia to fix their software issues on the "Red Magic 5g" global Rom 4.05.
Most of these issues are also on the other roms.
The crossed bugs are the fixed by the oem.
The poll is for nubia to see the opinions of their customers.
here we can show nubia and their future customers how many of us will return their devices, regret buying it, don't recommend it, or don't care about the issues.
Feel free to quote the opening post to address issues i didnt mention.
1. We can't see who is callig when voLTE is enabled.(caller id is allways unknown) workaround: disable 5g or volte.
2. We cant change the Default launcher.
nubia tried to fix this in latest updates but its still not working as intended.
3. AOD can't be turned on once turned off.
4. there is no Option to disable "screen turning on when phone is beeing moved".
5. there is no Option for battery percentage in statusbar (but included in cn rom).
6. there is no face unlock (but included in cn rom).
7. there is no nfc on cn rom. (It's included on global rom but can't pay with Gpay. All goes Ok but when paying the terminal says, "only one card at a time".)
8. gestures navigation area will switch in respect to the screen orientation making it hard to use the keyboard vertically.
9. unlocking bootloader breaks the fingerprint sensor functionality.
10. there is no official global rom.zip but a cn rom.
11. there is no kernel source released yet.
12. there are no real battery statistics like "screen on time".
13. the recents Activity is inside the launcher instead of system ui (meaning we have no working recents if we don't use the nubia launcher)
14. there is no option for 120 hz (there is a hidden menu only accessible with a third party app whoch can actually enable it)
15. there is no option for full hd in the Screenrecorder settings (can be anabled in a hidden menu with a thirdparty app)
16. After using the phone for a while connected to 5ghz wifi, it will disconect and will only be able to connect to 2.4ghz wifi until you restart the phone.
17. Android widevine lvl is 3 instead of 1
18. When connected to the dock, charging works when dock option is activated. But if we connect an USB-C to HDMI cable, power charging is stopped
19. Desktop mode can only be activated with adb.
Dear Nubia this device has the best hardware but if you don't start putting more effort in fixing the problems of your customers you will ruin your brand. This hardware deserves a better software. I will not return my device because i only care about gaming performance and i was aware of the problems of the previous red Magic phones when i bought this device.
Please don't justify the cliché of cheap Chinese phones/brands. Just put more effort in software development. Complete Something before you start a new project. Don't endup selling a halfbaked product. You can do better!
I explained all these issues to Nubia and got a first response!

On point 1. I disabled VoLTE and my caller id now works. UK user.

I 100 percent agree, I am a first time customer of yours to and I love the phone the hardware, the software has issues , especially fingerprint being broken after unlocking bootloader.

i was already guessing this. will add this workaround to the list. thanks!!

At least they could start with providing kernel source for this device, and then some custom ROM development can start.
I am really frustrated with v4.05 official sw and for me it is not usable on day to day basis.

The phone is really nice, top notch hardware and good design at a very reasonable price, but it s not right to rush out to market a phone with alpha level software. I don't like google apps and I don't use them but play store not being certified is very dodgy for a stock phone on the market that hasn't been flashed by the reseller.

How to get the unknown caller id fix
Hi ,
The only way I was able to get the caller id to be visible was to use it on 3g.. I am on ee sim and cannot see option to disable volte. Is there some other way to fix this without rooting the device. If not I am planning to return this device. That's my main issue.. if I could find a fix which doesn't involve loosing 4g connection I am more than happy to use this as my daily driver..I think the phone hardware Is awesome specially for the price. It's a Shame the software isn't up to par.. ant help would be greatful.. the reply I got from Nubia is to return the devise..didn't even offer any solution.

Yes the Redmagic 5G has the potential to dominate the world markets because of the hardware specs. I've been the major push to get things going in the dev community I moved over from building Xiaomi kernels. Redmagic generally listens when many of us press issues via [email protected] or post on the GitHub I setup. Thanks all for helping. Major bugs would be NFC doesn't work in Global + NA variants (2 cards detected by terminal instead of 1), bootloader unlock breaks FP. No update.zip provided for anything other than Chinese variant. We probably need the Qualcomm EDL bin images from Redmagic if they are serious about development on this phone. They can capture insane sales if we get the right tools.

I had copied the main post and send to [email protected] . We need an Update for this phone!!!

Do you not see the option below on your SIM?
I have SIM1 on O2.
With the VoLTE enabled I got no caller ID.

It was the same for me, however, if you disable the 5G option, the VoLTE option then becomes available.

Hi, Volte option appears when you untick 5g.
Try that.

You can use facial data to unlock the mobile phone. You must set the lock-screen password before using facial recognition.Click “settings-password, fingerprint and face-facial recognition” on the desktop to enter the facial recognition interface. When you enter the facial recognition interface for the first time, you need to enter the facial feature data.
(1) Start facial recognition:Click “settings-password, fingerprint and face-facial recognition” on the desktop, turn on the “facial unlocking” switch, and turn on facial recognition;
(2) Facial unlocking:
①In the “facial recognition” interface, turn on the “facial unlocking” switch;
②When the mobile phone is locked, press the power button to light the screen, then the mobile phone can be unlocked through facial recognition.
(3) Light supplement of screen :
① In the “facial recognition” interface, turn on the “facial unlocking” switch;
② When unlocking the screen by facial recognition in the dark environment, the screen automatically lights up to unlock the mobile phone.
(4) Facial data management: In the “facial recognition” interface, click “remove facial data” to delete the stored facial data, click “add facial data” to enter facial data.
Note: Facial recognition is less secure than pattern and figure passwords, and the mobile phone may be unlocked by someone with similar looks.
As for other problem you put forward we will feedback to our technicians, thanks for your suggestion and support.
This option is missing in GLobal Rom "settings-password, fingerprint and face-facial recognition", Nubia doesn't know what is included in GLobal and CN, oh my god!!we are lost!!.

[APP] Better Keyguard 1.4 (MIUI style misuse prevention)

Better Keyguard
The app is for People who dont use any security-lockscreen (like Pin, Pattern or Face unlock) and just like the fastest way to reach the homescreen after turning the device on. Many Roms allow to disable the key guard completly. So u see the homescreen right after turning on the device. But this way, unwanted misuse can happen, by accidentelly wakeing up the phone, while carrying it in your pocket.
Because of this and because iam not using a MIUI-Rom anymore (which had the very same feature), i set up a Tasker profile, which enables the proximity sensor for 1 sec, every time the display is turned on. If the sensor is not covered in that moment, nothing further will happen, if it is, the display will be turned off right away.
Later I decided to export this Profile as app via App Factory (Tasker Plugin), because I thought others would like such a feature too.
The app passed tests on my Galaxy SII (AOSP: Android 4.2.2) and on a Xperia Z (Stock Rom: Android 4.1.2) from a buddy of mine.
After Installation
1. Of course, to turn the screen off, u need to enable BK as device-admin.
2. To test: Press power button to turn off the display, keep the proximity sensor covered (usually located in right or left upper corner of the phone) while pressing the power button again to turn the display on. If its turned off again within 1 second, the test can be considered passed.
3. Note: On the Xperia Z (and some other devices), i noticed that any Lockscreen/Keyguard has to be disabled to make the App work. (It seems that the proxy sensor is not working in lockscreen)
Since Iam no programmer and the fact, that this is a Tasker-Project, my abilities for improvements or Bugfixing are very limited. Maybe some1 will pickup the idea and write a REAL app of this kind. Ofc only if the Chinese have not yet patented their MIUI-feature.
I uploaded the Tasker-Project-Files as well.
Just would like to know ur thoughts about this.
Changelog:
1.0 - First release
1.1 - Added a UI allowing to adjust some options (show/hide notification, try to disable built in keyguard, launch on boot: Always, Never, Remember last state)
- Toggling the state shows now a tiny flash message
1.2 - Added option to show a warning message before display goes off. If the sensor is uncovered quick enough, display will stay on and the warning message will be dismissed.
(disadvantages: Tasker provides only 2 relevant massage types for that purpose. One can be dismissed by the back key, which is bad for devices with capacitive buttons, since these buttons are not locked while the warning message is shown. So I decided to go with the second type, which is not dismissable by the back key, but also not overlapping the status bar, so it is still expandable).
2nd: Somehow this version is not working along with lockscreen at all. So, if you want to see a warning message before screen goes off, u need to disable any kind of lockscreen (even normal swipe).
If you want to use it along with a lockscreen, you need to try it with Bk 1.1 or 1.0
1.3 - Added an option to show the warning message over lockscreen (only if the app is working in lockscreen at all and u need to tell it, if u are using a lockscreen or not)
Removed because of no further advantage.
1.4 - Slightly reworked UI with new Szene-elements from latest Tasker version (Checkbox and Drop-down menu). This version equals 1.1 in functionality, since i thought the app was inflated too much with stuff that actually didnt work correctly. Furthermore i also used the latest version of App-Factory to create the app, since "Pent" (the dev of Tasker) released at least two updates for Tasker and the App-Factory plugin since i uploaded BK_1.2. So this one might work more reliable now.
Here the UI
Field tests revealed that a enabled keyguard (normal swipe lockscreen or whatever) prevents Bk from working properly in some cases. If Your Rom doesnt allow to disable the key guard, try the new disable built in keyguard option. If your Rom does allow it, use the native setting to disable the lockscreen rather than Bk ones.
Reuploaded the first release, becuase the file had a Tasker created filename (Better_keyguard.4.apk) and did not reflect the actual version number.

i tried and test it "DO NOTHING nothing at all" jst stay @ notification saying BK is active ( i have activated system administration) probably describing how it work and what it does will be more useful some screenshot.
I am on Slimbean 4.2.2 build 4
Samsung galaxy s2 GT-I9100
Hi aryan1312,
many thx for responding!
I rewrote the introduction to better underline the app's purpose and added a "After installation" annotation with instructions of how to test the functionality.
Since the app got no menu, there would be nothing to show in a screenshot. Ill try to put a youtube video online soon, that will show what it does.

I hope u just didnt know how to test it, because u got the very same set up as i do (sgs2 on slim beam 4.2.2+dori9.14). Would be quite strange, if its not working even with same hardware + software. On my phone, i allways notice a weak red glow coming from the proximity sensor, if its active. (during a call or if a sensor related Tasker-profile is running) Maybe u watch out for that glow right after turning on the display. That would indicate the app's functionality too.
Best regards

Thanks for giving the description more accurately. Now i have better understanding of how it work. previously i was using slide2wake (dori function) i think that y it is not workin, will try with power button now
Edit: Work absolutely fine, even with slide2wake and PIN lock
don't think it will affect much battery performance since it activate proximity sensor for jst 1 sec
Great work
New version uploaded, check OP

What if I have no proximity sensor? Can it work? Nah, just kidding it's a nice app but I'd really would like it if it's notification could be swiped away and if there would be a warning like in the miui because now it's more like miui idea not like a miui style. I'm still going to use this app and tell my friend which also has similar problem about this app

uhm, thats really strange. At 1st I thought it was androids memory management who threw Bk out of the cache. But even not working after reboot is bad. As stated in the OP, iam no programmer, so I have neither a clue why it stopped working, nor I know how to fix it
I think it has something to do with the way, Tasker exports profiles into apps.
U can try to delete app data (if not already removed) to get it working again. But if it keeps stopping to work, deleting data is no real solution.
Iam sorry I did no long time testing prior to posting here. During quick tests I recognized, that Bk wouldn't show the option menu by pressing the app icon after Tasker performed one of its tasks. Removing Bk from recents app list did fix that. But this is completely different to ur experience.
I hope it is a very rarely occurring bug or related only to few devices. Otherwise the app would be unusable. :crying:
Hopefully

After disabling swipe unlock in JB it is working but when JB screen lock is working normally, your app is not working... I'm not using any other key lock (pattern, pin) or anything. I just have to swipe to unlock. If you are going to fix it then I promise I'll spread the word

Hi olokos,
well, in order to make a message appear over the lockscreen, i had to use the 3rd message type, which tasker provides. I never thought it would be relevent, since it doesnt block any input. Unfortunetly, that makes this feature to an eye candy without further purpose.
As I stated in the "After installation" paragraph, i found out that some roms prevent the proximity sensor from working in lockscreen. After updating my own decive to slim bean 4.2.2 build5, Bk stopped working in lockscreen too.
In order to use the warning message over lockscreen, u need to test the functionality without the "show warning" option. If it works and ur display is turned off as intended, u can enable "show warning". But u also have to tell the app wether a lockscreen is in use or not.
hope its fitting ur desire a little more now
Edit: found out that it wasn't my rom preventing the sensor from working in lockscreen, but its not working since Bk 1.2
So, if you want to see a warning message before screen goes off, u need to disable any kind of lockscreen (even normal swipe).
If you want to use it along with a lockscreen, you need to use Bk 1.1
Sorry i couldn't turn it into real MUI style :/

Best regards
Chillmann

Hi,
I just find your app. I really need n app like this, but it doesn't want to work for mi ( for test i cover the sensors and try to use the screen and i can). Is it compatible with kitkat based roms? I have a N4. Can you suggest another test method if mine is useless?
Just to let you know, I'vee take your idea and modified it.
SOme newer devices with tap-on screens can be triggered in your pocket. This app works, but it doesn't work if you have a standard slide lock screen - so I modified tasker to check for screen unlock andd proximity, rather than screen on and proximity... then if your device turns on in your pocket and then tries to unlock, it will go off again - this works around it not working with a lock screen.
Good idea checking for lock screen
Did you share your work somewhere?
Best regards, Chillmann

Tips and Tricks
Lockscreen:
1. Double click on the lock image (the area marked in the first picture below) can switch between music player and lockscreen.
2. Long press on Back key in lockscreen mode (without a password) can enter camera. You can find this function in Complete Settings——Buttons & keys.
3. Long press on Home button in lockscreen mode can turn on the flashlight. Press for three seconds until the phone vibrates, and the screen will turn black and the flashlight will remain on. To turn it off, just press anywhere on the screen.
4. Press volume up key and back key together can unlock the phone (without a password).
Call and Messaging:
1. You may have some important message in your SMS inbox, and want them to be the first ones you see when entering SMS. That indeed can be done. Just check the messages you need, and press Pin.
2. There're messages you don't want others to see? Add them to Private Message! Keep pulling the SMS page down and you'll enter the Private Message page.
3. When others ask you for another person's contact information, you may have to memorize it or take note of it and then tell them. But with MIUI, you don't have to go through all these trouble.
4. When sending group messages, we used to have to address all the receivers by the same name, and it sometimes seem to be a little impersonal. But with MIUI, those times have come to an end.
5. With MiCloud service, you can send messages from the computer. Just log into http://i.xiaomi.com
6. When there's an incoming call, the ringtone will automatically increase if you don't answer it in 30 seconds.
7. I beleive most of you have the experience of getting annoying sales calls. But when there's an unknown number calling, you have to answer in case it's something important. With MIUI, you can easily tell whether you should answer a call or not.
8. If two people both use the MIUI system, they can send free messages and pictures via the Internet.
9. If a call is important, you can record it or take notes of important contents.
10. Sometimes you forgot to switch your phone mode to Vibrate or Silence in a meeting or during an important conversation. If someone calls you and your phone rings, you may feel embaressed fumbling to turn the sound off. With MIUI, you can make your phone silent in a flip.
11. Some of you, especially boys, like to put your phone in your pocket. And if there's an incoming call, you may misoperate when taking the phone out. Here's a way to avoid this risk.
Comeplete settings—Display—Prevent misoperation
12. After you've changed your phone, all the contacts information can be imported to your new phone in a minute. Press Menu button in the Contacts page, choose Import/export, and then choose Import from other phone.
13. You may find your contacts have no avatars or location information, that's because you've turned on Simple mode. Solution? Turn it off.
14. What do you do when there're duplicate contacts in your phone? Delete one of them by yourself? Well, that's unnecessary if you use MIUI.
15. A quick way to add someone into blacklist.
At call or message page, press the avatar of the one you want to add to blacklist—select Add to blacklist—Save. And it's done.
System Operation:
1. How cool would it be if you can put whatever you want to say on the lockscreen page? Follow the steps below, and it will be done.
Settings ---- Security & Privacy ---- Screen Security ---- Owner info.
2. Long press on any icon in Toggles to enter its setting page. This design will actually save us a lot of time.
3. Want to sleep in on weekends but forgot to turn off the alarm clock? You won't have this problem if you use MIUI clock.
4. We all like to sleep a little longer after the alarm clock set off. In this situation, a snooze function is necessary. It's annoying If the snooze duration is too short, and you may start to worry if it's too long. In MIUI, you can set the snooze duration yourself!
5. Slide down on Notes icon to create a new note.
6. In File explorer, you can see how many items a folder contains, and delete the empty ones without mistake
7. Want to let some applications auto start and the others don't? It's your call. (Auto Start).
8. Use more data than your package allows every month? Always forget to check your data usage? Well, then you can choose to put it right in front of you, and you won't have to worry about over usage anymore.
Privacy Protection:
Sometimes your family or friends may want to use your phone, but there're contents you want to keep private. In this situation, you just need to turn on the Guarded mode. Settings ---- Security & Privacy ---- Privacy Protection ---- Guarded Mode.
Updater App:
1.You can download the latest full ROM using the Updater App. [Press Menu inside the app]
2.You can use the updater app as a file flasher application.
3.You can us the app to boot into recovery.
Backup App:
1.You can backup system data, installed apps, and synced contacts to various accounts.
2.You can encrypt backup with MiCloud account password.
You can set time for Automatic Backups.
You can visit this website for more detailed explanation

16 Things You Can Do In Android Lollipop That You Couldn't Do In KitKat !
After what feels like a long time since we saw the L Preview first appear, Google is now rolling out the final version of Android 5.0 Lollipop to its existing Z series.
You get to know the best version of Android yet by working through this selection of tips and tricks,
covering all of the new features, major and minor, that are built into the operating system.
1. Tap and go
When you're setting up your new Lollipop device for the first time, you'll be presented with the option to "tap and go."
This NFC-and-Bluetooth-powered data transfer lets you move all
of your Google Account details, configuration settings, data and apps
over to a new device just by placing your old phone or tablet against it.
Widgets and wallpaper are swapped over as well.
2. Use the flashlight
Flashlight apps have always been popular on Android,
so Google has decided to roll one into Lollipop to save you the trouble of having download a third-party one.
Pull down the notification drawer then tap the top bar to
reveal the flashlight app alongside other options like airplane mode.
The app will only appear if your device has an LED flash alongside its camera.
3. Prioritize your apps
Android 5.0 Lollipop lets you set up a list of important apps that
are allowed to disturb you even when most aren't.
Head to Settings -> Sound & notification -> App notifications
and you can choose to block each app or mark it as a priority one. Tap the volume slider on your device to activate priority
mode indefinitely or for one hour (a circle with a stripe inside will appear in the status bar).
4. Deal with notifications from the lock screen
In Lollipop all of your app notifications appear on the lock screen ready
for viewing. Not only that, but you can interact with them as well.
Swipe to dismiss, tap to reply and so on,
depending on the app in question.
A double-tap gets you into the relevant app.
Head to Settings -> Sound & notification ->
When device is locked if you want to hide sensitive alerts.
5. Pin apps
If you want to hand over your device to one of your kids or a friend,
you can "pin" them inside one single app.
First, activate the feature via Settings -> Security -> Screen pinning.
Then, when you activate the multitasking screen via the
square Overview button, you'll see a pin icon
appear in the lower right-hand corner
of the bottom app (drag it up if you can't see it).
Holding down the Back and Overview buttons is enough to
exit the pinned mode and get back to other apps. When you activate the pin,
you'll be asked if you want to use a code or pattern to unlock it.
This is tied to the same protection applied to your device,
so if your lock screen isn't protected by a code or
pattern then the option won't appear when you're pinning apps.
6. Jump to app settings
The lock screen really has been given a major overhaul with
the Android 5.0 Lollipop update,
and the improvements include the ability to jump
straight to an app's settings or information panel right from
the lock screen. Long-press on
any notification and (depending on the app) you'll see a cog icon (the app settings shortcut)
and an info icon (the app notification settings shortcut).
7. Predict battery life
New to Android 5.0 Lollipop is the ability to see how much time is
left before the battery runs out of juice,
or how long you need to wait before your device is fully charged up.
Tap on the battery icon in the notification drawer to see either
reading (the time-until-charged information also appears on
the lock screen a few minutes after you've connected
your device to a power source).
8. Search settings and networks
Google's search bar is getting more ubiquitous with each
passing version of Android, and in Lollipop
it's made it into the Settings app.
Tap the magnifying glass icon to use it.
It can be a quick way of finding a particular option
you're looking for, especially if you don't already know what menu or
heading it's under. You can use the same feature
to bring up saved Wi-Fi networks too.
9. Enter Guest Mode
Sharing devices with other people
(friends, colleagues, family members, distracted children)
can be a real pain, but Lollipop's new Guest Mode eases it somewhat.
You can access Guest Mode by dragging down
the notification drawer, tapping on your user account avatar,
and then selecting Add guest from the menu
(or just Guest if you've been through the process before).
10. Improve text legibility
If you were wondering if the Accessibility
menu within Settings would get overlooked
in the Android 5.0 upgrade, there's a new experimental feature
here called High contrast text.
Essentially, it gives white or difficult-to-read
text a black outline when it's being viewed on a light background.
It's applied to the "OK Google"
text inside the home screen search bar, for example.
11. Chromecast more quickly
There's an official Chromecast app from Google that
lets you screencast from any device running
Android 4.4.2 or higher, but the functionality
is built right into Android 5.0, which is great
news for anyone with one of the compact streaming
dongles to hand. It's right in the notification
drawer—tap on the Cast screen icon to locate your Chromecast and begin screencasting.
12. Add trusted devices
A trusted device is a specified Bluetooth or
NFC-enabled gadget that will automatically
disable the security code or pattern on your your
Android phone or tablet when it's in range.
This means you don't have to fiddle around
unlocking the Lollipop device when you're at home
or in the car, for example.
Head to Settings -> Security -> Smart Lock to set up the feature.
13. Hang a 'do not disturb' sign
This works a little bit like the priority app notifications we
mentioned earlier, but it's based around times and
days more than apps.
Go to Settings -> Sound & notification -> Interruptions
to set it up—it's perhaps best used overnight when
you don't want to be disturbed, but there is the
option to let certain contacts through as well as messages and alarms, if necessary.
14. Get back to your apps after a reboot
If you reboot your device in any version of
Android before 5.0, all of your recently opened apps
will disappear. In Lollipop, they're still present
on the Overview screen,
so you can quickly get back to a previous conversation
or website if you need to (not all apps
will remember exactly where you were in the app).
To remove a card from the list, swipe it away to the left or right.
15. Play Google's Flappy Bird clone
Like earlier versions of Android, Lollipop has an
Easter egg to unlock. Go to Settings -> About phone
then tap quickly four times on the Android version entry.
Once the Lollipop graphic appears, tap quickly on it several
times then finish with a long press to launch a
clone of Flappy Bird with an Android robot in place
of the bird. It's just as frustrating to play as the original too.
16. Save the battery
Android 5.0 Lollipop includes a built-in battery saver mode
that you can get to kick in at 15 percent battery,
5 percent battery or never (you can also switch it on and off manually).
It cuts off some background syncing
and vibrations and makes various other tweaks as well.
If you select Battery from the Settings app you'll find
the battery saver on the menu behind the three vertical dots.

If you could improve on the phone...

Just thought to have a thread where I will try to compile all suggestions and feedback regarding the phone -- be it hardware or software (EMUI). Hope you guys think this is a good idea...
compiling a list...
1. Customisable notification lights -- whether to turn on notification LED for charging, type of colour for different events, etc... (see OP)
2. Separate volume for notification. (see OP)
3. Remove the CD-Drive where HiSuite is stored (see OP)
4. Default USB mode does not seem to work. enabled it on Develop options and set MTP as default but still, it goes to charging mode only on my phone (see OP)
5. Option to disable auto beauty mode when using front facing cam. i'm one of those that don't like beauty mode. or at least a settings where we can turn it on/ off as default. (see OP)
6. Option to manually change screen resolution to 1080p or even 720p. right now, it's automatic and comes under power savings options. (see OP)
7. Double-tap to wake. (see OP)
8. improve on smart unlock -- paired with my fitness band but the smart unlock behavior is erratic. sometimes does not work. (see OP)
9. Mobile Data stats to track usage needs a major improvement -- ability to change data cycle date. not every data cycle starts on 1st of calendar month. mine starts almost mid month, so this Mobile Data thingy is quite useless in tracking and reminding me of usage. should stick to something simple like what Samsung has got. (see OP)
10. Improve/ Reorganise options in settings. (see OP)
11. No notification when low resolution mode kicks in. Also see point 6 above. (see OP)
12. Improve on volume level, especially when using earphones. Also, an equalizer? (see OP)
13. Themes that does more than just change wallpaper and icons. (see OP)
14. Clicking sound on the power button. (see OP)
15. Charging speed when phone is used should be faster. Currently very slow. (see OP)
16. More improvements on the camera - better overall quality (including in low light) and speed. (see OP) (see OP)
17. More options for selecting network-type (which SIM gets 4G, 3G, 2G only, etc). (see OP)
18. Club honor forum needs some reworking. (see OP)
19. Expand on the menu in Power Button. (see OP)
20. Improve on low-light photography (see OP)
21. Heat issue after prolonged use of camera (4K recording) (see OP)
22. Photo and video using both front and rear camera. I know Samsung has got this and I quite love it. Useful for those still not using selfie stick. Plus, for video and doing livestream, being able to use both can be fun! <-- This seems to be on the new Nokia 8. Even if it's not possible on video, would be nice to see this option for photos.
23. Improve App Twin. Currently only two apps. Would be better if users can just clone any apps. (see OP)
24. Add quick menu on camera editable -- users can customise what they want on the camera apps' quick menu. That way, we can put whatever settings we like. Perhaps HDR. (see OP)
25. More icons/ options for Quick Access. There could be many more options like Auto Sync. (see OP)
26. Allow warranty claims even on rooted devices like OnePlus. (see OP)
27. Enhance the PIN entry screen. (see OP)
28. Allow contact events (like birthdates) to be entered without YEAR. (see OP)
and to kick things off, my own list of suggestions:
1. customisable notification lights -- whether to turn on notification LED for charging, type of colour for different events, etc...
2. separate volume for notification
3. remove the CD-Drive where HiSuite is stored
4. default USB mode does not seem to work. enabled it on Develop options and set MTP as default but still, it goes to charging mode only on my phone

Your list of suggestions is definitely a good start. IMHO, suggestions 1,2,7 are to be given high priority followed by 5,6 and 8. Regarding 3&4 I have observed the same default action on all my previous OnePlus devices also. May be it's implemented that way I guess.

8. improve on smart unlock -- paired with my fitness band but the smart unlock behavior is erratic. sometimes does not work.

Number 4 - I had the same behavior on my previous device as well. Moto X Play.

Let's start -
The number of options is settings is huge. It's sort of a mess to find out a particular setting.
The low resolution power saver has no notification about when it lowers the resolution.
The double tap to wake should be there.
Notification light should be customizable.
The volume level through earphones is very low. Also an equalizer is sorely missed.
There is a click noise when pressing the power button. It irks me when the surrounding is silent.
The themes present doesn't change much other than icons and wallpapers. I would like to see themes changing QS panel and settings screen as well.
The charging speed while using the phone is way too low.
The camera quality is good enough but improvement is still desired.

Regular security updates, enough said.

Your list of suggestions is definitely a good start. IMHO, suggestions 1,2,7 are to be given high priority followed by 5,6 and 8. Regarding 3&4 I have observed the same default action on all my previous OnePlus devices also. May be it's implemented that way I guess.

regarding 3 & 4... i do wonder what is the logic for implementing it this way. anyone can share if there's a good reason to do it this way? plus, the settings in Develop Options to set default USB mode does not seem to over-ride this, making the option in Develop Options useless.

Yes, you are coorect. The settings in Developer Options to set default USB mode as MTP does not over-ride this. Don't know why.

Clicking noise... never noticed that till you pointed it out. i guess this is a hardware thing and unlikely to be fixable. but ya, maybe have those soft/ quiet buttons in future.

and to kick things off, my own list of suggestions:
1. customisable notification lights -- whether to turn on notification LED for charging, type of colour for different events, etc...
2. separate volume for notification
3. remove the CD-Drive where HiSuite is stored
4. default USB mode does not seem to work. enabled it on Develop options and set MTP as default but still, it goes to charging mode only on my phone
5. option to disable auto beauty mode when using front facing cam. i'm one of those that don't like beauty mode. or at least a settings where we can turn it on/ off as default.
6. option to manually change screen resolution to 1080p or even 720p. right now, it's automatic and comes under power savings options.

8. improve on smart unlock -- paired with my fitness band but the smart unlock behavior is erratic. sometimes does not work.
9. that Mobile Data to track usage needs a major improvement -- ability to change data cycle date. not every data cycle starts on 1st of calendar month. mine starts almost mid month, so this Mobile Data thingy is quite useless in tracking and reminding me of usage. should stick to something simple like what Samsung has got.

One more suggestion.Select network mode individually.i mean select 2g/3g/LTE only mode. Now if we select SIM1 for data, the SIM2 automatically change into 2g/3g mode and vice versa.I need 2g only mode for non-data sim

Yeah. That's a bummer too. We cant manually set that.

+1 for all the suggestions! If these could be managed, it would be a near perfect phone which ticks all the checkboxes.
Also club honor forum needs a vast update. It doesn't allow to post a new post after saying it is getting reviewed and the whole forum is a mess. Nobody knows what forum is for what and there are no separate sections!
just remembered something else... would be nice if the power button's options can be expanded. i mean, perhaps under Develop Options, we have the ability to add more options such as:
* screenshot
* mute (mute using volume button currently needs 2 press -- one to reduce volume to 0 and then another click to enable MUTE)
* airplane mode

i totally agree. first of all, signing up was confusing. first attempt, i ended up signing for HK account. later, i managed to create another based on correct country -- Malaysia. when i joined the club honor forum, i found it messy as well. and... there was no section on honor 8 Pro. i asked 1-2 members/ mods, but never got any reply.
in the end, came back to XDA instead.
For me, there are two major complaints. Fast charging on this device is a real bummer. It charges incredible slow. Also, I don't like the oversaturated, unnatural looking display.
Battery life and camera are just ok. Over all I'm fine with the phone.
In addition to said improvements, they should start working on an update that supports VoLTE over wider providers. Here in India, there was a problem with Jio VoLTE and the now another company (Airtel ) os going to activate it on their Network. So that should be addressed as well. Including low light photography needs improvement
---------- Post added at 01:04 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:10 PM ----------
Also I read in the PDF, about the meet up in Chennai, India where discussions were held for feedback, that a hashtag be created for sharing pictures on Instagram. Can I know what the hashtag is?

Regarding the volte support on other networks, it's still some months away but as the volte support is present, I guess it will work automatically on other networks also once they support it.
Low light photography. Yes needs to be improved.
Also on continuous usage of camera, it gets unreasonably hot.

sorry... what do you mean by import HDR to main display? isn't that already done?
also, auto-sync... you disable/ enable it every now and then? or? usually, i set this when i setup my phone -- to determine what needs to be sync-ed and what does not. and then just let it auto-sync...

technically, this phone does not have any Quick Charging tech. it's just regular 2A charging. the phone does not come with Huawei's Fast Charging (like on Mate9) or Qualcomm's QC or even like OnePlus's DASH. but still... full charge within 2 hours, i feel... is OK for a phone with big battery and no Quick Charge tech.
as for un-natural looking display. i dunno... i can't really tell. plus, if anything, i'm am AMOLED fan. but... having said that, i thought the phone has got some display calibration that complies to some standards?
updated: there's this DCI-p3... not sure what that means. maybe later i Google it.
was reading the Nokia8 first impression when i got reminded about this camera feature where you can take a photo with both front and back camera together. in Samsung's case, they have done it quite well. would be nice to see this on our phones.

i see. i get what you mean now. ya, sadly, camera apps don't allow us to customise the menu. I know i can do that with Samsung phones. and on some other phones, they have swipe gestures to toggle between the modes. this one... good idea!

for this... iinm, i've seen this on Samsung phones too. auto sync option. but, i never really understood why ppl need these. you don't want phone to auto-sync? why not?
just thought to highlight this... hopefully we can compile a list of suggestions/ feedback that our lucky fellows in India can share with honor India.

Assigning default SIM to tel no stored in contacts

My last phone was a Dual SIM Moto X Play. I had this set to "always ask" which SIM to use, and on dialling (or texting) a tel no for the first time, the "which SIM?" dialog had a check box option "save selected SIM as default". Subsequently, when I dialled the number it immediately dialled using the default SIM with no intermediate dialog. Helpfully, there was also an option to interrupt dialling and change SIM for the call being made.
I was disappointed to find my A2017G (stock Nougat B09, unrooted) did not behave this way; the "which SIM?" dialog has no checkbox option to store a default SIM. The biggest problem for me is that I cannot dial hands free as the "always ask" option "always asks"! (Because of the way I use my SIMs, the option to select one or other SIM for all voice calls or texts will not work for me.)
I have found I can approximate the behaviour I am after by using Dual SIM Selector In Axon 7 Dual SIM Options, "always ask" is selected, and within Dual SIM Selector the selected options are: Automatic selection - Contacts - Turn ON; Manual selection - Turn ON; Manual selection - Save by default.
This does what I want, but it is quite slow and the native "always ask" dialog still appears briefly even after a default is stored via Dual SIM Selector. At least I only have to wait for the dialog to vanish - I no longer have touch the screen to select an option.
I am using ZenUI Dialer & Contacts. I tried installing the Google Dialer in the hope that thus would bring the ability to store a default SIM against a contact number, but it did not.
Is there a better way to achieve the "Moto X Dual SIM"-like behaviour I am after than the solution I have found? All ideas welcome. Please note I am not in a position to root as I would then not be allowed to use my phone at work.
If Dual SIM Selector is the best solution, I will just go ahead and buy Dual SIM Selector Pro. By the way, kudos to PixelRush, the developer, who responded promptly and helpfully to the one question I posed.
PS any chance that a "native" solution to this problem will arrive with Oreo in April? I read somewhere that stock Oreo on Axon 7 would be much closer to pure Android and hope that might mean it brought a different approach to dual SIM management.
I'm interested in having a solution too. Really need this feature and I'm frustrated to see so much topics about this concern without valuable solution... even on official oneplus forums ;-(
Cheers,
Dual SIM Selector is now working well for me. In addition to the settings above (in app options: Automatic selection - Contacts - Turn ON; Manual selection - Turn ON; Manual selection - Save by default) I have also followed the FAQ advice for my device in the app for systems settings (might differ for you, but in the case of my ZTE Axon 7: set one SIM as Primary (does not matter which); LOCK Dual SIM Selector in Recent Apps; remove all battery optimisations for Dual SIM Selector, and; Look and Feel - Notification bar icon - Always show). (Note - Axon 7, reboot is required for removal of battery optimisation to take effect, though there is no notice to that effect. Suspect this is also true for other devices, but I don't know.)
Dual SIM Selector now works pretty much as I would want with calls. It is quick enough and I do not get the transient, native "always ask" dialog. Only remaining irritation is that this is a solution for calls only, and not for SMS, but, for me, that is only an irritation.
You can try all this with the free Dual SIM Selector app for a few days (3 days if memory serves) before committing to the Pro app. Function and settings are the same, but free version stops working after trial period. Developer has been responsive and helpful when I have asked questions. I have no relationship to the developer, except as a satisfied customer.
(PS: still waiting for stock Oreo update which is apparently ready but has got stuck in the US ban on exports to ZTE. Some news suggests this might be resolved soon, but I am not holding my breath....)
