Google pay not working - OnePlus 6T Questions & Answers

I have a converted oneplus 6t from t-mobile to Android 10 and Google pay is not working and my device is not rooted or does not have an unlocked bootloader. What can I do to fix the problem.

Your device is probably not certified. Check this in Google play parameters. If it is the case, in system parameters> applications try to clear cache and data for Google Play and Google play services then reboot.

If the above solution fails, another one is - ironically - rooting. First test whether your device passes SafetyNet with this app. I'm on A10, international version, rooted and mobile payment works. I'm not using GPay though. I did just notice that my device wasn't certified so I added everything related to 'Google' and 'Play' to Magisk Hide and now it is (see screenshot below). I wonder if there's a way of testing whether GPay works on a device without actually using it.
Oh and if you decide to walk this path, do be careful with a T-Mobile converted device! I've seen a lot go wrong with them (see official OOS threads, do some reading). Make sufficient backups before proceeding. There's a realistic chance you'll end up MSMTooling it.
Best of luck!

I check and it did show that it was not certified, but then I clear data and it stopped showing that. Google pay still does not work. I need to find a way to fix it with out going back to stock tmobile.

You will not get it certified till this type of device - TMOBILE 6T that is not the same as OnePlus Regular 6T) will get A10. So if you must have Google Pay get back to pie and wait till T-Mobile updates there phone to A10.

Hello,
Download the MagiskProp Config in Magisk then flash it.
Then download the Terminal Emulator for Android by Jack Palevich in the playstore.
Then follow instructions in the video link below :
This worked for me.

Yeah you are going to have to root and use the safety module. Only way it'll work

Believe it or not, it's a known bug that began with the beta but got resolved some time after. Apparently, this bug came back. OnePlus is aware of it and they are working on a fix. I already contacted support.

Funny how a company with an annual revenue of $1.9 billion and 2700+ employees (source) struggles with a problem that free and open development has solved ages ago. I'd like to take in these moments to stress the importance of communities like XDA. We're freaking awesome! #NeverSettle

Unfortunately can not do that - I have work profile on the phone and maas360 mdm will discover the root (tried to hide it in any possible way).

Thanks for that however I can't do that since I don't have magisk installed and I don't want to install wtrp or root my device to get it. If there is a way to install it without that I will do it otherwise nope.

My S4 and S3 both have been rooted, I guess that is the reason why I get this message.
Does anybody know of a quick workaround of this problem?
I and I am sure many others will thank your inputs.

P.S. Click here for app in Google Play Store
Does you S4 show "custom" status and the unlock icon? Or does it show "official"?
Could always decompile and remove the check from the code, but that is kinda hardcore, would need to find a smali badass to do it.

Just a thought, but if you can get the phone back to saying "official" without the padlock maybe it will work. There are a bunch of threads about regaining official status floating around the forums. Some methods work for some and other methods work for others. It might be worth trying though.
Most importantly: did you grant this application root rights? I once had an authenticator for an online game that asked for root rights. If granted, it complained about the risks of using the authenticator on a rooted system. It was interesting.
Now, otherwise I can't see how DirecTV is checking your device to see if it's been compromised, or "security-tampered" ... Unless it has rights to check that "device status - custom" that the others here are referring to?
If that's the case, it should be easy enough to get rid of the "custom" status by using SuperSU instead of SuperUser. It involves downloading/installing SuperSU, updating it and the SU binary, and then uninstalling SuperUser (the app that comes with Motochopper). A reboot or two is usually necessary.
If you've uninstalled bloatware or installed a custom kernel or rom, you're pretty much stuck with "custom" until we find another way around this.

As mentioned, it is most likely either directly checking for known superuser apks or binaries or it is checking the "status" to determine if root has been achieved. If it is only checking for "status", then maintaining an "official" status should be enough to get it to run. If it actually checks for root, then the APK will need modifying to remove the check or return a reverse false positive or root will need to be removed.

From what i read in other threads I'm led to believe this is a temporary root, and will disappear upon reboot. It also installs kinguser, not superuser, and superuser cant be installed to replace it.
Also, this was from the Dev thread directly

I think this guy should have noted in this video it only works on 4.4.4 kit Kat and that when you reboot you will lose root sometimes you don't even have to manually reboot it will just shut down randomly and root is gone ....and for Lollipop it only gets to 51% and auto shuts down I would just wait for the devs to just put something awesome together I tried it yesterday and it was a headache trying to not reboot but when it randomly shut down on its own several times I was done with it ...jmo!!

no. nothing permanent about kingroot. every reboot it is gone.
tried on Verizon Note4 and when I opened the app, it just show me the envelope and didn't give me the lock like in the video. So it's not working for me.
I tried this kingroot last night, say for like 5/10 min til I got tired of waiting and then I Uninstalled the shop and nothing had occurred. But I have no bank or sensitive info on device, nothing financial or even remotely sensitive info... so was worth it to try.
But no go and no root. And I wad ready as when I upgraded to lollipop and set up phone, play store was reinstalling apps from my note 3, that I switch back and forth between, installed supersu and titanium (though I've no root on 4 obviously! ) I was ready to jump into titanium and start Uninstaller Bloat if
I got proof of root thru supersu granting it, or whatever the kingroot Su access is. .. either way I wad ready though. ...
No go. .. so I leave it at that till someone comes up with a surefire way too do this.
Reading up on multisystem now... looks interesting! Since no more safestrap..... multisystem looks the way next forward, though a tad bit complicated. It'll work eventually!

Android Pay works on unlocked, decrypted rooted 5X!!

Not sure the best thread to post this, so I figured I'd start a new one.
I just successfully used Android Pay on my unlocked, decrypted, rooted (with root temporarily disabled in SuperSU) Nexus 5X at Rite Aid!
I'll try to test at some more establishments.
I haven't seen anyone else test this yet, so hopefully this helps some of you on the fence who plan to use or already use AP extensively.

All the testing ive done....reboot brings it back to not working again.....there has to be someone who can figure this out
Does rebooting cause SuperSU to re-enable root? If that's not the case I imagine rebooting probably runs a system check for modified boot loader or whatever, which then sets a flag that Android Pay checks.
I've received my 5x (nice size, light and personally I think build quality is nice, coming from a Galaxy S4 and compared to wife's Nexus 6). Have to wait for the USB type C to USB 3 cable to root and decrypt.
Rebooted multiple times since rooting, Android Pay has had no issues. Still offers to add cards and such. It doesn't block payment right? I assume the issue is the app not loading properly overall.

Try to pay for something and see if it works.
Alright, that's the part I didn't test yet. I remember wallet would just deny you for being rooted or something, or at least it would give a message. I've seen no message and apparently if you just go into SuperSU then disable root it's assured to work. There are also obviously apps that can block an app from seeing the root status.

Android Pay uses the SafetyNet API. Hiding root from Android Pay will not do anything at the moment. Paying for something will not work either, but adding cards will

Do you have any update after reboot?
So I'll be trying to test this out tomorrow. I rooted and started Android Pay and tried to add a card, go the error that my hardware wasn't compatible, I hid/uninstalled SuperSU and reboot, then cleared all data from Android Pay, started it up again and it let me add my card and said everything is working.
When I get the chance to test I will report back my findings.

If you leave root disabled it will always work (At least in my case)...as soon as you add root back and reboot...no go

Wallet has always worked on rooted without a hitch this bs didn't start until android pay came out. Good thing I have a physical wallet card and primarily use wallet for wire transfers between family memebers...I switch to keytag/keyring (blue icon in play store) since the split of wallet/pay into separate apps and haven't had any problems.

In magisk under downloads look for Google dialer framework. If you click on the module it should give you instructions on how to install.
Yep, the Goog dialer. You don't need to install the entire framework, as mentioned above there is an up to date framework for just the dialer. Search framework in Magisk, you'll see it. Sometimes after installing the framework I can see the dialer in the play store, other times I have to go get the APK and install that way. I don't know why it doesn't show at times but once you've installed it in either fashion automatic updates from the play store should work; mine does. I'm in the beta because it has the dark mode now.

Yep, I downloaded the beta for the dark theme. But my question is, what's better in the Google dialer than the stock dialer?
Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk
Much better spam blocking, caller ID, and the local search can often be the fastest way to find a phone number for something nearby. For example you wanna call for a pizza from a local place you know, start typing the name and it will usually pop up immediately (assuming a decent connection) and you can dial away. In some respects the stock dialer is actually better but it cant overcome those things in my case. I use the local search for numbers of places nearby fairly often, less spam is better, caller ID never hurts.

Which version are you using the op5/op5t or the other version BE framework?
Speaking about magisk has anyone found how to uninstall it in case of a boot loop it has happened twice to me and i had to wipe my whole phone since the magisk uninstaller seems not to work?
Here is what I'm using so far.

No conflicts between viper and stereo mod? Reading the thread I was seeing some people having bootloop issues.

Haven't had any so far.

OnePlus 8T ColorOS 12 first build

Pretty stable so far, no major bug found. One small caveat is that the device mostly stays in 60Hz, there's a fix to make it run at 120Hz but it doesn't stay for long.
Guide to upgrade at #2.
EDIT: New 120hz fix found, check #8

If there were a way to get 120hz working stably I'd be flashing it right now lol. It follows OnePlus's stupid design choices in ignoring Material You and the new QS style right?

Actually 120Hz is working somewhat stable now, I'll need some more time to test it thoughly
They ignored the QS, but I can see some MY elements in apps like Chrome and Photos
How is battery stand by in this version? also notification delay?
I heard there high latency on notification on this os
OOS quite bad and high battery usage

That's really sad, I'm torn on wanting to try this and just sticking to the AOSP A12 builds I'm already on. I really like the new Android 12 look and I feel like ColorOS 12 ruins it entirely.
What's fix for getting 120hz?

Open developer setting, turn on USB debugging and "Disable permission monitoring"
Then plug your phone into a computer and execute these command in adb:
Code:
adb shell settings put system min_refresh_rate 120.0
adb shell settings put system peak_refresh_rate 120.0
Battery seems to be pretty good, at least on par with OOS
I don't see any notification latency so far with Gmail and Telegram

Hey, thanks for this guide.
I'm in the US, so I'm used to OOS, so I just have to ask if Google stuff is included in ColorOS? Or is it in this Coloros12 beta build at least? Just wanted to ask before I try this out, as I like having Google on my phone.
Thanks again. Hope to hear back.

Most of the Google service are included, but Play Store is not installed by default. You can just download a Play Store APK from APKMirror/APKPure/... and it will work just fine.
One small problem is in the setting, it shows that the device is not certified, maybe Magisk can fix that.

Thanks for the reply
And that will do just fine. I don't care about the not certified thing personally.

I think you can directly upgrade the ColorOS 12 build from Oxygen 11, but you'll need a complete data format for it to work

I'm not sure, you can try it out and let me know if that works
Do these colorOS builds pass Ssfteynet if Play is installed? And is there any risk on a T-Mobile 8T like there was when you flash 9R firmware

It only pass the basic test, failed the cts test

You can use https://github.com/Magisk-Modules-Repo/MagiskHidePropsConf to change build fingerprint to official 8T release. It will make your CTS pass. I am rooted and have safetynet pass with fod working!
