Verizon Note 4 Has One Click Root Method! Video Proof! - Verizon Galaxy Note 4 General

Use this at your own risk. This is a Chinese app which will root your phone, but may also send your data to China! On the surface it doesn't seem malicious, but use caution.

From what i read in other threads I'm led to believe this is a temporary root, and will disappear upon reboot. It also installs kinguser, not superuser, and superuser cant be installed to replace it.

Also, this was from the Dev thread directly

I think this guy should have noted in this video it only works on 4.4.4 kit Kat and that when you reboot you will lose root sometimes you don't even have to manually reboot it will just shut down randomly and root is gone ....and for Lollipop it only gets to 51% and auto shuts down I would just wait for the devs to just put something awesome together I tried it yesterday and it was a headache trying to not reboot but when it randomly shut down on its own several times I was done with it ...jmo!!

Root last after reboot? can you reboot, run the free Root Checker by Joey Krim app from the play store, screenshot, andshow that you're still rooted?
Also i should ask, retail or DevEd? this works on DevEd fine (I think) from what Ive read elsewhere.

I would suggest that you wait for a perm prerooted factory image to drop.
unless like the idea of the Chinese stealing all your data and losing root on every reboot.

no. nothing permanent about kingroot. every reboot it is gone.

tried on Verizon Note4 and when I opened the app, it just show me the envelope and didn't give me the lock like in the video. So it's not working for me.

I tried this kingroot last night, say for like 5/10 min til I got tired of waiting and then I Uninstalled the shop and nothing had occurred. But I have no bank or sensitive info on device, nothing financial or even remotely sensitive info... so was worth it to try.
But no go and no root. And I wad ready as when I upgraded to lollipop and set up phone, play store was reinstalling apps from my note 3, that I switch back and forth between, installed supersu and titanium (though I've no root on 4 obviously! ) I was ready to jump into titanium and start Uninstaller Bloat if
I got proof of root thru supersu granting it, or whatever the kingroot Su access is. .. either way I wad ready though. ...
No go. .. so I leave it at that till someone comes up with a surefire way too do this.
Reading up on multisystem now... looks interesting! Since no more safestrap..... multisystem looks the way next forward, though a tad bit complicated. It'll work eventually!

Yeah, I thought people would get crazy, but I mean , temporary root is not so bad right? For example it would work to get rid of the s finder and quick connect persistent icons on the notification bar , right?

from the official topic with the LPY room
From the pics I can see that these are all Samsung and Google apps ,most of them should have access without even asking you ,so I guess it's either a bug or maybe a virus?
Anyway I think you can safely give these apps permission seeing they are all system apps.

as I said ,all of them are system apps ,it's just weird that they should ask for permission .
usually if a system appis asking for permission then it has been modified in some way, like modified google maps .
are you sure it is fully stock? if yes then it could be just a bug maybe?
you could probably solve this by wiping ,but since you are on LPY this has the potential of being lethal to your phone.
my advice is allow them access ,I doubt any harm will come of it.
Yeah those seem to be system app but why on earth LCD test and other apps would want to access your google account?
I suggest flash safe kernel wipe data then re-flash ICS.
Or downgrade to GB wipe data then upgrade to ICS.

Just a thought, but if you can get the phone back to saying "official" without the padlock maybe it will work. There are a bunch of threads about regaining official status floating around the forums. Some methods work for some and other methods work for others. It might be worth trying though.
Most importantly: did you grant this application root rights? I once had an authenticator for an online game that asked for root rights. If granted, it complained about the risks of using the authenticator on a rooted system. It was interesting.
Now, otherwise I can't see how DirecTV is checking your device to see if it's been compromised, or "security-tampered" ... Unless it has rights to check that "device status - custom" that the others here are referring to?
If that's the case, it should be easy enough to get rid of the "custom" status by using SuperSU instead of SuperUser. It involves downloading/installing SuperSU, updating it and the SU binary, and then uninstalling SuperUser (the app that comes with Motochopper). A reboot or two is usually necessary.
If you've uninstalled bloatware or installed a custom kernel or rom, you're pretty much stuck with "custom" until we find another way around this.

As mentioned, it is most likely either directly checking for known superuser apks or binaries or it is checking the "status" to determine if root has been achieved. If it is only checking for "status", then maintaining an "official" status should be enough to get it to run. If it actually checks for root, then the APK will need modifying to remove the check or return a reverse false positive or root will need to be removed.

This just confirms that we WONT be getting an update any time soon to 4.4.
Both Samsung and ATT have some sort of BS going on. Probably something with the additional bloatware not working with 4.4 and is the reason why they have not released 4.4 to the public.
This type of BS may push me over the edge with both Samsung and ATT.
Samsung needs to pull an Apple and not allow any carriers to add junk to their phones, thats one thing I respect about Apple.

Just made sure the phone had USB Debugging on and put it in MTP mode when plugged into USB. Other than that I just let Kingo do its thing. All the testing ive done....reboot brings it back to not working again.....there has to be someone who can figure this out
Does rebooting cause SuperSU to re-enable root? If that's not the case I imagine rebooting probably runs a system check for modified boot loader or whatever, which then sets a flag that Android Pay checks.
I've received my 5x (nice size, light and personally I think build quality is nice, coming from a Galaxy S4 and compared to wife's Nexus 6). Have to wait for the USB type C to USB 3 cable to root and decrypt.
Rebooted multiple times since rooting, Android Pay has had no issues. Still offers to add cards and such. It doesn't block payment right? I assume the issue is the app not loading properly overall.

Try to pay for something and see if it works.
Alright, that's the part I didn't test yet. I remember wallet would just deny you for being rooted or something, or at least it would give a message. I've seen no message and apparently if you just go into SuperSU then disable root it's assured to work. There are also obviously apps that can block an app from seeing the root status.

Android Pay uses the SafetyNet API. Hiding root from Android Pay will not do anything at the moment. Paying for something will not work either, but adding cards will

Do you have any update after reboot?
So I'll be trying to test this out tomorrow. I rooted and started Android Pay and tried to add a card, go the error that my hardware wasn't compatible, I hid/uninstalled SuperSU and reboot, then cleared all data from Android Pay, started it up again and it let me add my card and said everything is working.
When I get the chance to test I will report back my findings.

If you leave root disabled it will always work (At least in my case)...as soon as you add root back and reboot...no go

Wallet has always worked on rooted without a hitch this bs didn't start until android pay came out. Good thing I have a physical wallet card and primarily use wallet for wire transfers between family memebers...I switch to keytag/keyring (blue icon in play store) since the split of wallet/pay into separate apps and haven't had any problems.

Can you copy the download out of the phone without root?
Are you able to download the update with root?

Oh ya, I always pull the updates before flashing, but usually my phones are rooted minutes after I receive them.
I need my Gear to work and it didn't with the current root... bummer...
Which is the previous version? N930PVPU1APGC?

Does this affect/patch the root method we have for the Sprint Note 7?
Even if you update, you should be able to Odin back to the root file...as you can odin back to the original official tar. The update only adds wifi calling and some smaller fixes.
I have the update, have not installed it. I am not rooted, so don't know how to pull it off for others. But will be glad to if someone tells me how on my unrooted phone, if possible.

So it allowed you do download the update while you were rooted?
Out of curiosity, where on the phone was the download stored?
Oops, just read more carefully, you don't know where it is. I have pulled them before, but don't remember where. It's not the obvious places like "Download". I think it was in a cache folder. Use a root explorer and look around in the system folder.
Right , I don't know where it is

You could try ota or fota
I'm pretty sure it is downloaded to the system folder somewhere (cache maybe?). Without root, you'll never get to it.
I figured as much but it seemed like people were interested having non rooted people look.
It's odd cause this is the first non rooted phone I've ever had. I'm holding out to see if we get the boot loader unlocked and custom roms. If not I'm going to skip root this time around.

I'm in the same boat. I need my Gear S to work and it doesn't with the rooted rom we have now.
I'm surprisingly happy with it unrooted. I did buy Adguard, because I can't stand ads. Other than that, all good. If my plan didn't include HotSpot, it might be a different story.
