Some say that it is possible but i never found a way that work.. so my guess is you need to wait (as i did too).
On the Note 5 last year was more brutal, 15 days to wait.

Yep. I even heard some people manage to do it. But it was random. Here is a guide for anyone who want to try. No risks.

You should to wait. There are (some) service(s) can help unlock it immediatly but they're need paid (about 23$) and only for miui 9.

I wonder why they are doing this. It's not like somebody hapless just stumbles into unlocking without knowing about the consequences. Also, it's useless as a security feature in case of stealery since you need your Mi account anyway on both the PC and the phone.
I used to be annoyed by the three days I had on the A1. A week is beyond annoying, especially on a phone with such thin sound over BT (I only root for V4A these days)

Well they do it since some don't know exactly what they are doing beyond unlock and flash TWRP so when they soft brick Xiaomi (specially in China, Russia and India) has to give support for the phones. This make people double think if they really want to go down that route.
Also, no brand want us to unlock the bootloader so the more they can do to avoid us to do so (but without losing the market of people who only buy Xiaomi to unlock) they will.

I frankly didn't read the EULA bla bla but usually when you unlock, the warranty is gone anyway.
Still annoying though.

It's an extra layer of security for people who don't unlock the bootloader. Means that if your phone gets stolen, the thief will have to wait at least a week before they can do anything with the phone.
Annoying, but at least we can unlock the bootloader eventually - most don't offer the option at all. There's no way around it, you just have to wait.

Hello, yah there are many reasons behind this unlock timer, but just because others don't offer such unlock option at all, does not mean we have to be cool about it. Xiaomi is known as cheap but quality brand beloved by modders when it comes to unleashing true hardware power. If it becomes strict about locking bootloaders, they're risking to loose a lot of customers.
Anyway.. I bought K20 and just as you - got stuck on this stupid waiting time. Most say its because to stop aftermarket unauthorized resellers, so nobody could buy a bunch of chinese Xiaomis, flash them with global roms and sell them with profit. Cmon Xiaomi... I'm just ONE man, my acc is associated with only ONE device - K20..
I got waiting time for 7 days. Tested famous method known in this forum such as using new and old unlocker - din't helped, so I decided to give up and wait.. Might as well use my K20 daily to see what I like, what I don't, how to pre-setup after unlocking bootloader. Oh, whats this - MIUI 11 update? Sure, lets try, if its bad, ill just flash MIUI 10 no prob after those 7 days.
OH HOW WRONG I WAS. Just because I updated to MIUI 11, my waiting time extended to 14days! FOR F SAKE XIAOMI! Why on Earth would You do that?? I'm the same user, on same device, same MI acc... This is out of my mind.
I got so annoyed by this, I started google all the methods possible, using two accounts, using many old unlockers, nothing helped. But you know what, my waiting time is now: 17days!!
ohhh god damnit.
Also i noticed one interesting recent youtube video, guy shows how to unlock K20 Pro / MI 9T Pro using two unlockers. The thing is, hes using new unlocker, then old one and when old one fails, hes quickly disconnects usb cable, puts in another port and - it works! Phone gets unlocked!
The old unlocker gets some "Unknown error -1" code. I'm not getting this code now, all I get is something: "Please download new version". But as far as I remember, I used to get that "Unknown error -1". Did Xiaomi patched this just seconds ago? Damn I was so close to unlocking
Seems like I can't post a link to a youtube video, so if you wanna find it, the exact title is: "Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro | Bootloader Unlock | Redmi K20 Pro | Detailed Guide" and the uploader is "munchy".
I was thinking, how does bootloader gets unlocked, it seems like the unlock code is already generated inside (at least at old ones Mi unlockers), cause it only takes reconnecting USB or for some people to only to try again.
I was trying with old unlocker to unplug my internet port right before phone gets unlocked and guess what I get? - "Unknown error -1". I experimented with this LAN unplugging and usb switching, din't helped, but maybe its because mine runing on MIUI 11? Maybe bootloader got updated too with new MIUI 11? Some of you might wanna try this with MIUI 10.
Sorry for long post, but if you are frustrated like me, this might spark some new ideas, there's got to be a way!

Well I'm really sorry but I will, cause my friend, you din't get why is so annoying. Its simple - Xiaomi used to not do that. I understand their precautions, but the execution is terrible towards the end user.
If it would stayed at those 7days, I would be fine.

well i think xiaomi do this so people keep using MIUI instead of custom ROM

They do it to make more complicated for resellers to buy a Chinese phone, flash and sell it with international firmware
For an ordinary user there is no problem to wait 7 days (besides, people say they 'dont like' MIUI but barely even try to use it), and after that sky is your limit regarding the custom ROMs (except that some don't even do their homework to learn during those 7 days how to properly flash ROMs, etc)

The main reason Xiaomi has enforced this wait time is because of ad revenue. They make large sums of money from ads on MIUI. If people start installing custom ROMs, then they directly lose ad revenue from MIUI.

I'm pretty sure I read it somewhere that someone tried to bypass the limitation. Instead the date for shifted to a even long time.

Any ROMs Available? Even OEM?

Are there any leads to a Samsung Focus flashable ROM yet? Even an OEM ROM? I'd really like to take my Focus back to 7004 and start over if possible.
Unfortunately, I tried to recover using Windows Phone Support Tool and it destroyed my ability to Unlock again. I was trying to revert back to my 7004 backup, but was not sure how to do it.
Now I'm concerned about not being able to get OEM or Chevron updates. That would bite!
I have been looking for a while, no luck
wish I had the knowledge to make a rom to backup 7004 before upgrading
hopefully some nice person will make a rom (preferably Rogers as less bloatware)
Don't expect a ROM for Focus anytime soon. There's simply no one working on it. I have a bricked device that needs a new ROM flash. Been waiting for months now!

I'm hoping there is someone quietly working on it without posting their progress so they are not bombarded with questions and questions about when it will be released.
Please don't take offense if you've already done this, but have you already tried the Windows Phone Support Tool to try to get it going again? From what I saw when I ran it, the tool has the ability to download updates, and MAYBE ROM parts? It's just a thought.
There is no Rom for the Focus, I dont recomend this phone. I got a mine almost 4 month ago and was loaded with another Rom, I wait for a Rom to appear and i lost my hope,, no one is interested on it. So I sell the phone to a very dumb guy. Just resell it.

Would that not make you the dumb one for buying a phone that didn't have a stock rom in the first place? As is stands I think the stock rom is more than smooth enough. Yes there are things lacking and not as many tweakable options as android, but it is still very usable. Just be patient, it will come eventually.
Nobody seems to realize the disasters of Android when they first came out. We are already far ahead with WP7 on a timescale point of view.
Nobody is dumb here, we all just have different expectations from our devices.
Also, along the lines of time frames, WP7 is also ahead of the iPhone when it was released. It too had it's headaches, and correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't we get cut/paste faster? And MultiTasking will be here WAY faster than iPhone got it.
Just be patient, and give it a little time to mature. It's coming along quite nicely, especially lately. And the ATT feet dragging on the update? I'd much rather they took a little extra time than see a bunch of people in these threads with bricked phones, or upgrades that didn't work as planned. That can kill an OS. I think the first Feb update showed them they need to be cautious, and that's exactly what they are doing. No, I don't like to wait, I'm as impatient as the next guy, sometimes more, but it will be worth it in the long run.
UPDATE!
I was concerned that forcing the NoDo update and then using the Windows Recovery Tool had made my phone unable to receive the March NoDo update from ATT.
Well, I'm happy to say that I just plugged my phone in this morning, and I'm RIGHT NOW updating to the "Samsung update for Windows Phone".
WOOHOO!!!! I thought I was hosed...
Now, the question will be, Can I Unlock It? I doubt it, but at least I'm getting the actual Update from ATT. I'm hoping there is a firmware update included also. I'll let you know.

I did try to use the Windows Phone Support Tool, and even disected the code. It still needs signed FFUs from Microsoft to flash to the device. You can't just make it flash your custom ROMs.
It would really be awesome is someone was indeed working on a ROM for Focus right now, because then I would be able to bring my phone back to life. But unfortunately, I've been wating since february and it hasn't happened, and there have been people who have been waiting even longer.
I can't even sell the device to anyone because it doesn't even boot up. Its just a paperweight now. It was a bad decision to buy this phone. Should have gone with the Omnia 7 instead.

I dont understand why you are bashing this phone so badly. I moved from a fuze with win 6.5 plus. I loved the freedom i had with that phone. but, as with any rom and initial release of an op system. there will be bugs. there will be updates. This all takes time. I think this phone is awesome for now. Its very easy to use and is powerful and very fast. The wifi is much faster than what im used to. Just be patient there will be some great improvements to come for this.

Focus Rom
This maybe a true Focus Rom but the person who is saying it works has not or will not say how he used this rom. The upload tool included with the Rom does not work.
If it really does work why not just tell us what you used to flash the phone?
The other ROM 7004 included in the thread is a AT&T Demo ROM so don't use it.

I don't think so. On any of the claims.
He has clearly stated how he did it, the tool as well, but nobody actually verified. Unless someone actually tries those with a Focus, all rest are suppositions. Including mine.
So unless someone actually tries them, I have to say what the original poster (Chinese) said they are:
There are 3 roms posted there now:
-UCKC3
-UCKC3 mod/custom 7004 (no idea what that means)
-AT&T Demo
The last 2 have been posted by me in that order in the Focus UCKC3 rom thread.

Nova Smart and Nova/Nova Plus question

Since there is nothing for the Nova Smart out there..
There are no TWRP, no ROMs, no Root methods.
I wanted to ask: can I use the files that are made for Nova/Nova Plus for rooting and installing twrp?
My phone model is Diego-L01, I can't find anything online on it..
(I have already unlocked bootloader)

Hi there!
Unfortunately, you can't use Nova's TWRP nor the ROMs made for it. Yes, you can try them, but the result will be a bricked phone (sometimes it can really be hard bricked), so there's no point to even try that unless you really want to brick your phone.
It might be called "Huawei Nova Smart", but it doesn't mean that you can use stuff from Huawei Nova just because is called Nova. It has different chipset etc. Same goes for Huawei Nova 2.

Of course it can have TWRP, LineageOS and other goodies, but someone must be willing to do them.
In my opinion, the chance for getting TWRP is quite low though. It doesn't look like it's a popular phone and right now it doesn't even have a XDA subforum. Also, it's one year old phone. It's just my opinion though, it doesn't mean that someone won't work on that phone, it's just that I doubt that it'll happen anytime soon.
As an advice, next time you'll buy a phone make sure to check whether it has XDA support or not, if you really care about that. I've did the same mistake like two times and I won't repeat it again.

Rooting the Hydrogen One

I've received my phone and contrary to the review sites, it's a very cool and unique device with an incredible screen as well as a huge battery!
As a long time power user who has always rooted his phones, I've gone through and tried to unlock the bootloader but so far to no avail
My hope is to get into fastboot and then OEM unlock the bootloader at least, then get into sideloading Magisk at a minimum and hopefully down the line, get TWRP on there and then a custom ROM such as AEX to give me all the tweaks I'm missing compared to my Oneplus 3T with AEX on it! Look forward to the discussion and hopefully someone with good skills can get hold of the phone to make it happen! Thx
I have enabled Developer Mode and OEM unlock is an option so it's most definitely rootable. But the chances of this phone getting near a big enough user database to get dev's working on it is unlikely. But here's to hoping

Yes, the OEM Unlock gives me hope. I haven't been able to get to the fastboot system to try it though. Did you manage to get there? The usual volume up plus power on boot doesn't work.
I don't think this will be a rootable phone, you can get as far as fastboot but it requires a hash-code for unlocking. Unless a third party can decode it Red will not share I have asked. Unfortunately this really sucks because there are definitely some things that could be fixed with a few hacks ie. back light, audio levels, scrolling responsiveness.
<----Bummed
That really sucks that Red won't give us an unlock code. I love the 4V but without root I really can't use the phone as a daily driver. As you say, too many things which could be fixed but won't be without root.
Fingers crossed for someone in the US getting the phone through AT&T et al who is also good at hacking. Otherwise I think I may end up selling the phone at an unfortunate loss

Yeah I like the 4V display but that is the only thing the phone has going for it.and it makes it quite boring for me. (I'm used to HTC and Samsung). Also the screen size is a turn off and the huge bezels everywhere. Believe it or not I would rather have the pixel 3 with its horrendous notch. Which is the most upsetting phone edition since apple. I would say this phone would be great with root and roms and if that happens I may give it another go. But for now I think I'm just going to let it go...
Great news! Red has responded to me on Facebook saying they are open to unlocking the bootloader for non-carrier devices (ie those bought directly from Red).
So there's hope!

Great news! Red has responded to me on Facebook saying they are open to unlocking the bootloader for non-carrier devices (ie those bought directly from Red).
So there's hope!

Did you ever get that unlock code?
No, they went radio silent
I've posted at h4vuser.net several times but no one seems interested. I love the H4V but can't use it as a daily driver without being in charge of my own device.
I have successfully unlocked my bootloader but im not a developer so i dont know how to compile a TWRP for it but but if any one does know how i really would like to assist in getting this device rooted i have been trying since they day it was released
What was your method to unlock the bootloader?

my experience getting root
I followed the root guide on this site and got root very easy. Its a zingger boi! Yes with full control this guy is what you paid for, the hardware is so nice wide open. I expect guides to pop up soon since its been on sale so much often. If not then ill post one lol. NO do not try anything unless you can build your own rom without needing to ask how. DONT try to root if you are a casual user. Guides will be soon ...

Can you give me the link for the root guide that you are talking about?
Sorry Guys i hit a lucky steak and in an attempt to Get back i have a Clue!
I had it!! If i stopped at root and didnt push ahead to TWRP i woulda had it still!!.
Have you setup an account with Xiaomi ? Thats step one to get permission to unlock your bootloader. Ill give you a hint to help fill the hours of the countdown clock from application to unlocking the BL. I didnt already know this but, its what got me headed in the right direction . An article that stated "The Mi Play aka Redmi Note 7 Pro" i wasnt aware Xiaomi was fond of renaming products for different markets . Get your account going so you can get the bootloader unlocked and after i get it right this time ill post a walkthrough. Good luck good fellows!
Dont go use that systems software on this site(Redmi Note 7 ).. Its not working well as is. Its just a start to get your system rooted after you unlock BL ..both are almost identical except for processors ..And those are even made on the same line so to speak. Go slow and dont get ahead of yourself.. If all you got is me then im gonna do just that...Go slow and take my time.
ABOUT THE ROOT GUIDE. I SIMPLY FOLLOWED THE ONE ON THESE FORUMS (i know thats a maze) IT GOT ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION. NOT MUCH LUCK WITH MAGISK SYSTEMLESS ROOT.
Example with other Xiaomi
There are a lot of these mediatek phones that are so close to being twins well ,except for screen size. .. Anyway guys im sayin that its not long of a wait. There are alot of views about this phone on this site. And if you really wanna risk bricking your phone ill let you know if i ever get anywhere within the next couple days i have off. I found conflicting loadouts so i dont wanna toot my horn till i come up with something.
just hoping for a stock android rom soon ,i dont like mui roms ,
You are so right my Dude!
Seriously Miui feels like the big brother version on andriod. Honestly its creepier then Google.. Perhaps a custom cleaned up version would work for you .What do you think?

Any ex "hybrid rom concept edition" (Xperia Z Ultra uses) interested in development?
Is anyone interested?
What's more important for you guys, security or speed?
If there fans of my work and this amazing device let me know.
I am doing cyber security now, so if you want something really amazing I need a motivation to spend my free time doing that. And I will need to get myself a second device with locked bootloader for starters.

Few reasons, one is that I need to see what can be done with locked one. I managed to port Z3's concept rom to Zu, made it 400mb and it was able to run with Locked Bootloader.
Second reason, is that I can't really afford to brick it right now. I think of switching to black from chrome for a while
I need some crazy idea to motivate myself.
I was able to live with GAAps-free phone for a year, but Nanodroid didn't support new Maps v2 api.
Plus removing Google really improves battery life.
Personally, I am all crazy about Cyber Security and I got pissed when phone lags. Also I believe that most of "innovations" are softeare, that are easy to port.
I posted Google free rom with clear instructions how to install Nanodroid but it's not intersting.

@Doom Slayer, about what can be done with still locked bootloader - you may check following post:
Android PIE VerifiedBoot Bypass: sony xperia XZ1c locked bootloader permanently rooted
I like your [GUIDE] Z Ultra and Z1 HARD BRICK RECOVERY thread.
Do you think it could be made working with XZp/XZ1/XZ1c phones too?
Hardbrick recovery would be very useful for yoshino phones (managed to brick two already).
@j4nn, that's looks promising. Great work! Too bad I don't have any locked device. But I will keep that information in mind.
About hardbrick recovery, you should try contacting @the_laser, as he was the guy who developed software in the first place.
About the rom development, I am still thinking of a concept itself.
Most likely it would be ultra-debloated

Unfortunately it seems he is not active on xda anymore, for more than a year - mentioning him has no effect, his account is displayed as "disabled". I did not try a pm though.
Do you by any chance know what might have happen with him? Or any good way for contact?
