Am I missing something here or was everything about this launch misleading
I picked up the Gen 5 today. Google assistant does not talk to me. Only shows results on screen. And the battery modes are no where to be found.
I had a software update when I finished loading everything and no difference.
What am I missing??
I got one as well. Assistant talks to me just like it is supposed to. Do you have the speaker enabled under settings (swipe down from main screen)? Same with battery modes... they are right there next to the speaker icon when you swipe down. Icon is of a battery with a plus in the middle. Great watch so far, absolutely love it!

Which one is the speaker. Are you talk about the sound icon. That's for notifications, is it not?
I ended up finding the battery modes
Regardless. The battery life has been horrendous for me.
On my Gen 4 I would end my day from 630am till 8pm and have 60% left.
My Gen 5. I started at 8 ended at 630pm and had 10%
The speaker icon is essentially all sounds or mute AFAIK. Also I second that the battery is terrible. Started the day at 06:00, been in high power save and died at about 13:30! Seriously hope they can address this in the next update

Ya that is on and nothing from assistant. Only shows results on the screen. Does not talk back to me. So something is going on
I just got the new gen 5 watch for few days, I have issue on phone calls using the watch. While call in or pick up the call have too much chopping and distortion. I tried reboot the watch once and it work normal but after that it came back. Any pone have this issue? Or is only my watch is faulty?

Have the same issue. With both of them I had
I think it's a software issue and needs an update. Hopefully fossil is quick to address.
Imo
They did a piss poor job of this launch.
Software has major issues and bugs are running rampant. Speaker call issues. Battery life issues. Assistant not talking back to you. Battery modes hidden and not in settings.
There are some serious issues they need to resolve and fast

I want to download music and play it offline since we have the storage - can anyone recommend the best music app for Wear OS for this purpose? TIA

I wanted to look for it too, since spotify is still not able to offline listen music from watch.
Got the Gen 5 too. Pretty poor battery life.
Anybody know other than putting the watch everytime to "DND" or "Silent" how to avoid the charging sound when plugged and unplugged? I don't mind if somebody know the value in System / Global or Secure and write it via ADB.
P.s.: First Fossil, pretty poor watch (unstable). Same here, speaker glitch when talking, Google assistant talks when he wants and awful battery life. My Lemfo China watch was better...
Thank's
In order for the assistant to work properly, I had to set the language to English US. This needed to be done on the phone's setting and the on the google assistant settings through the wear OS app. For some reason setting it to English Australia cripples the assistant. Not an ideal fix, since it switches all apps on my phone and watch to imperial instead of metric. I have contacted support. It may be that you're seeing the same issue with Canada?
In terms of the speaker for calls, there is a known issue with the choppy sound and requiring a reboot to fix. They said they're working on a fix and will be rolling out a software fix soon.
As for the battery life. The different modes trade off functionality for slightly extended battery life. The battery life is not great, but I can stretch it to a full day. It took some time for it to settle down though after all the software updates and syncing of apps. It was terrible on day one and two.
Ciao I will try asking here as well since this is a Fossil Gen 5 specific thread.
The ok google detection is on.
if I keep pressed the centre button the Google assistant is launched on the watch and I can talk to the watch to give commands.
If I say "ok google" to the watch the assistant is launched on the phone and not on the watch, so I have to talk to the phone while I'd like talk to the watch.
Brightness issue??
I'm planing to buy the watch, but there are many reports that brightness of the watch is too low even compared to gen 4 or older Moto 360 or Huawei watch 1. Is it really the case,??
Can that be fixed from software side??
Also they have not specified display glass quality.. I mean gorilla,,sapphire..? ....
Can anyone help in clarifying
Thanks
I like the new Generation sure the battery life in custom mode with everything on maybe a bit worse than Generation 4 but at the end of the day I get easy 30% .... fooling around with it a bit more too because it is new.

Never been that happy but when I wake the watch so far I always have been able to read it.
"Kind of the trade of the brighter the display the worse the battery life"
Glass not sure ? Never has a problem or scratches with the Generation 4
Different story for me, it's my hmmm 9th or 10th smartwatch, the Gen5 for me is a disappointment. The quality is not just there for now. MAYBE if they fix the bugs but other than putting the speaker to off, you can't quiet the watch when finishing charging. Also, the speaker distort a lot and waiting for a firmware update so for now, it's being returned to Fossil. Will wait for the Vivoactive 4s, the upcoming Diesel that might have a newer firmware and maybe the Galaxy Watch 2.
Really I must have got the one working watch.
I pull the watch out the charger at 7am and at 11pm I still have 70%....
Always on display, I turned off nothing including NFC, WiFi, GPS, bluetooth
My way of thinking is if it is not connected it is not working.
I read people can not find the battery modes ?
Swipe from the top down, what do you think the battery icon is for ?
Just for kicks I may one day see just how long I can make the battery last....
The watch is extremely fast and responsive.
For me there is no other choices, Galaxy Watch .... no apps, no Google Pay.
If you are not using a Samsung Device ??
The Fossil Generation 4 I guess is not bad, no speaker...... but most people in this thread are complaining about the speaker anyway. However I do agree above all the speaker can use some work.
for everyone who is facing google assistant issue i also had similar issues that GA doens't use to talk to me but then i came to know that you need to change the language of your mobile follow this
settings -> system -> languages & input -> languages and add English(UK) or English(US) to the list and keep it on first.
and the one which will be on first should be the language set in your watch as well. the reboot your watch and voila you can talk and get response from GA
hope this fixes your issue.
and with the calling issue and speaker issue its a major wear os bug on july 2019 patch. we will have to wait for new patch to be launched.
Have a good one
Wear Media for Wear OS
able to upload music to my Gen 5 but noticed a considerable lag when accessing the app on the watch. It takes a while for all the albums to show up and then it takes 15 seconds sometimes to have the first song of an album to show up, which is necessary to start playing. Anyone have a similar experience?
Guys, is it possible to sideload apps to gen 5?

I recently got a Galaxy S5 about a month ago and have been using LG Tones hbs730. While listening to music, whether it's streaming or on my device, it cuts out for a second or so. Sometimes it happens a lot at once and really kills the vibe. It almost sounds as if I was listening to music with aux headphones and I unplugged half way then plugged back in.. I have replaced the bluetooth with the HBS800's and the problem still persists. My Galaxy S4 did NOT do this. Any suggestions? I have tried just about everything. Thanks!!

I had the same issue with my AT&T S5 GM-900A and an LG HBS-750 bluetooth headset. Found the problem starts when the screen goes to sleep. I installed ScreenON just now and set it to the dimmest level. No more skipping. Unfortunately the screen does stay on, but it's a workaround. :fingers-crossed:
Just search the Google Play store for Screen ON

Yeah it's a common s5 problem. Put your phone in recovery and clear your cache that should fix it.

I just cleared the cache on my phone and rebooted. Using the stock music player, the music plays fine through the headset until the screen goes to sleep. Then it starts cutting out almost instantly. If I enable ScreenOn so it doesn't go to sleep or have it in daydream mode while charging, the music plays fine. Do you know of anything else we could try?

If you're rooted you can try installing Viper4Android, I think it has an option to disable Bluetooth low power mode which might be the problem.
Tapped It!
According to the update's bug fix list, this bug was supposedly fixed in the 4.4.4 update. But since that update, my bluetooth audio cuts out just as much, if not more. Wiping the cache partition doesn't help at all.
Is there another thread that discusses this that's more recent and has more than three people addressing it? (i.e. since the 4.4.4 update)

I've just switched from a sony Z1 to the s5 and noticed this issue with bluetooth in my car.
The Z1 was rock solid in the same car via bluetooth.
It seems the s5 gets drop outs when then screen is off for a while and i presume it turns some of the CPU cores off or something?
I have a g900F, there isn't a 4.4.4 firmware out for it yet? The Z1 was running 4.4.4 though and was OK.
i'm so happy that i'm not aline, not for you of course. Did someone find a solution? i also have the lg 730, and i also have sony z1, but i really can't use the 730 with z1, it was awful, and also have problem with the screen, so my phone company give me the s5, and i was happy , but i still have problems with bluetooth. Some tied another headhones?.
It is confime that the problem is because Bluetooth power?

I've got no idea what's the cause of this behaviour. However I pretty much tried every solution attempt that I could find on the net, except for rooting or custom ROM. Nothing has brought a solution for me, not even close actually. All actions taken seem to have no effect at all on the audio stuttering. Meanwhile my two brothers can play their music my home theater (which is what I'm trying to do) without a single hiccup for hours. It makes me think it must have something to do with a deeper problem. Bluetooth low power seems at least more likely to me than any other possibility, although that's highly speculative on my part.
I have been trying to get bluetooth audio from my phone to my home theater to work ever since I got this phone. It seems such a mundane task to me, yet Samsung seems to fail to fix this issue and I'm actually getting seriously pissed off at that.
When I contact Samsung support they seem to think this is a problem that is just on my phone and actually suggest to hard reset my phone and all that nonsense.
Meanwhile I updated to Android 5, the official version, but no change in this stuttering behaviour what so ever. And actually, audio to my home theater is one of the main purposes of this phone for me. The fact that I haven't been able to do that for many months now, well... That's a f**** sad situation.
And on top of all that, with the 5.0 update, I now get about 5 hours on a full charge (was getting at least 15 hours on 4.4.4). But that's another thread, I know.

i came here with good news for me, at least. After triying lots of things, installing programas and unintalling them and Reading a lot i read somo post with the same problem of us. But in that post they focus the problem not in the bluetooth but in the cpu. They claim that the worst (because may be more tan one) proble is the cpu profiles to save battery. So tire with the bluetooth path i follow this new one. After some test (with tasker) i change my cpu governor from interactive to performance and almost solve the problem, i have a little jump now and them, but nothing too anoying. I need more testin because having the cpu governor in performance all the time kill my battery too fast. But at least i can hear music again with my belove LG-730.

Well.. There's no changing the cpu governor without rooting.
A little jump now and then is still unacceptable for me. This phone is a cpu powerhouse so regardless of cpu governance or scheduling, this should work without any jump or cut out at all.
Are you sure it's not a coincidence that your situation has improved? I mean, with the cpu in power saving mode, normal audio playback without bluetooth should be pretty much equally problematic as playback with bluetooth. I've never had an issue with music cutting out without bluetooth usage.
I'm not sure of anything, at this moment i'm testing this, and without doing any other change i improve the quality to a level where i can use bluetooth again. Before i have between 3 and 5 jumps per song, and not little ones. Now one every hours or more and i thinks this ones are from other things, like gps and some programas that affect or bluettoth o music. From hear i'm not sure what to test next beside cpu, this one was my last bet before leaving bluettoth for ever. So any advice are welcome.

You shouldn't hear any jump at all, even when you are using the phone for other actions as well. Quad core CPU and 2gb memory really is far more than you should need to do all those things. For example, one of my brothers has a Samsung Galaxy S3 mini. When he connects his phone to my home theater he can play music, lookup soccer results, read the news, ... All that without any jump what so ever. Obviously that's the way it should work.
I still got a laptop with a Pentium 3 550Mhz, 512mb memory, win2000, .... It's able to do all these things and it's almost 15 years old. There simply is no excuse.
For what i read is not a hardware problem it's the saving battery profile for the cpu. So you have the hardware but android tell the cpu to go veryyyyyy slow so you save battery

Yah, you're probably right about the cause. But does that really matter, we're speculating anyway. The fact that ancient devices do this better than this modern device I'm using now is just pathetic.
yep you are right, its pathetic.

So, this is my first day with this phone, but I have already discovered a lot of things. I will keep this thread updated, though, as I discover more of it on my journey to enlightenment.
Also bear in mind that just before this, I was the owner of an LG G2, so some of the things will be more of a comparison on the user friendliness LG offers.
Key features
Size: At least for me, this is the sweet spot. “Once you go Compact, you’ll never go back.”
Glass: Feeling. It’s a smooth surface. You’ll want to be able to embrace it all you can all day.
Border: Grip usefulness. If you hold your smart phone from its borders, it’ll be a sure bet it’d never let go of you.
Microphone: The other end of the call hears what it’s said so clearly, it’s scary. Once it sounded as if the person was on the ring.
Camera: Have yet to try under low-light conditions, but at noon, this camera shined. I was complimented at wok for its effective resolution.
Middle ground
Buttons layout: Hardware and software buttons. I don’t know you, but I think this phone was made for left handed. Whenever I use my right hand, I don’t know, I feel my thump is all cramped in there trying to change volume, while if I use my left hand, oh, boy, it all feels natural, and no more cramping. The good side of this is I’ve learned to use my left hand more. Definitely the best uni-hand setup is that of the LG G2. With buttons behind the phone, both hands are equally free to work with them.
Front speakers: Sound is loud, but I found it to be muffled. I can only guess it’s due to its water/dust proof nature. To be honest, I never use the phone’s own speakers that much. Almost never on any phone I’ve owned so far.
Applications: I totally hate it they have bundled some of the worst widgets/applications I’ve seen, ever. “What’s New”... really? Yet, there are some useful or nice one, at least to me: Album, Walkman, PlayStation, and others.
Disadvantages
Glass: Coating is awful. I once a long time ago thought the my HTC Desire was the King of smudges and fingerprints. Guess what? We got a new champion...! Seriously, I’m thankful I bought the White version, which makes the back of the phone appear as clear as it could be, while only the front suffers totally from it. In just five minutes of constant usage (like in a game, or scrolling and archiving Tweets), the front glass was kinda “oily”, and you could see smudges everywhere. Also you know what? It’s slippery has hell. Never, ever, before, have I encountered a surface as slipper as these glasses. Words cannot describe how much that is.
LED Flash: It’s the worst. As for hardware, the darn thing “bleeds” light before it even leaves the case of the phone. I mean, Sony, seriously? This is totally unacceptable. I’m even thinking on returning it if only because of this. I tried the Flashlight notification widget, and the Torch application itself: total disaster. They are so dim, it looks as if they didn’t want us to use the “phone” as a flashlight. Yet, I discovered, the LED Flash can go even brighter. I noticed it while taking a picture in low-light conditions.
System navigation bar: No way to change it, even with some default presets. The LG G2 had this. For example I don’t use the Recents button much, but I do A LOT “switch back to previous application” option back on my HTC Desire with an application that would let me set such things up, like behavior when long pressing such buttons as well.
Permanent notifications: For some reason, some applications like Lifelog and My Data Manager create a kind of immortal notification on the Notifications Bar.
I’m pretty tired at the moment. I’ll try to update tomorrow morning with what’s missing or to try to answer other questions. Feel free to comment your own while I do so.
We're in the same boat bud.... Coming from a lg g2 to a white z3 compact. Feeling about the same too. I really would like to know your take on the battery life as this is one of the main reasons for me to switch. But it's still early so take your time and let us know.
Well, the LG G2 was a battery power house on its own. I made it to 72 hours once, but using only LTE and stock AT&T ROM. Wi-Fi disabled.
I’ll report back this weekend when I reach 1%.
Wow! Mine never reached 50 hours.
Buttons
I got my compact about a month ago, I love it
The only annoyance I see is the location of the buttons on the right side, when holding the phone during a call my fingers struggle to find a spot to hold the phone.
I think they should move the power and volume buttons further up

Alright, just reached 1% this morning. Check the attached images for details.
So, details of my analysis:
I didn’t use STAMINA mode. I will do so on my next testing session.
Most connectivity services were enabled all the time: NFC, mobile data and Wi-Fi. Also my preferred data option was LTE first, so take that into account as well. Bluetooth was disabled. I had the Location-based Wi-Fi option, so Wi-Fi would turn off if I wasn’t near any of my saved Wi-Fi locations. I think this is one of those smart options. I like it.
Looks like Facebook applications, it seems no matter which one, don’t do smart push notifications. It is ALWAYS using background data checking. I’ll be sure to disable Facebook on STAMINA mode next time. I use WhatsApp, but WhatsApp looks like it knows how to properly work with Push Notifications. That is, it’s not a battery drainer.
Kind of the same thing for the Swarm application.
Some applications consume data and hence battery only because of some “active” widgets I got on my home screens, like Walkman. I will profile and optimize them accordingly. I pretty much left all the widgets there from stock start up. Only deleted What’s New widget.
You see that the screen is what took most of the battery, yet I find it strange it doesn’t really indicate the applications I was using precisely. I mean, of course the screen was needed so I could see the applications, but I find it weird that, for example, I navigated through the Facebook application for like an hour, yet neither the video watching nor scrolling seemed to have taken a battery hit according to the Battery usage diagnostics. I need to dig deeper.
I did some gaming, but it was a lightweight game, Bubble Blast 2. I will try some more serious gaming later on. I’m setting up my old MyBoy! GBA emulator like I had it on my previous phone. It’s just that I live in another city from before, and now the commuting time is shorter, which was mostly the time when I used it.
Alright, that’s it for battery report.
I will sit down this weekend and try to truly optimize my work flow this time, so next tests are, as much as they can be, more accurate.
I’d wish more people commented. I’m truly offended no reviewers ANYWHERE I’ve read (outside these forums, I mean) have commented on things like the bleeding LED flash, the REAL slippery status of the glass (where they have mentioned it, they make it sound as a minor thing, and that it is NOT) and stuff like that.
Thanks!
No, THANK YOU! A very good and detailed review on battery life. I will keep checking in here to follow your findings. Thanks again.
Hello back.
I’ll be honest, I didn’t quite finish my whole homework. It’s been 2 days, 7 hours of battery running (29% left), I’ll admit most of it the device has been idle, so:
I didn’t fully optimize my workflow.
Haven’t reached 1% yet.
Still, I wanted to report some things I’ve noticed:
Wi-Fi drains your battery like hell. Even with the location-based settings, forget it. It’s better to enable it only for application updates or when you need to download something big. Leave even the weather updates to your mobile network.
Can’t tell for real if 4G (HSPA+)consumes less battery than LTE, to be honest. I’m always on LTE, and it is awesome.
Enable Ultra-STAMINA mode when you go to sleep. It’s a huge saver, and seriously, if you want to sleep, disable interruptions. Probably its activation can be automated with something like IFTTT or Tasker to be enabled at midnight.
Not exactly sure if the Extended standby option of the normal STAMINA mode actually works. Supposedly it disables Mobile and Wi-Fi networks when the screen is off, but whenever I turn it on, the network icons are there immediately, like they’ve never been disabled. At least Wi-Fi icon should take a second or two to appear, instead of being immediately there.
Disabled Lifelog, which was taking a lot of battery after the Screen.
Alright, that’s it for now. Let’s keep walking the path.
On my Z3c the WiFi doesn't drain the battery.. Odd. For the disabling / enabling it's super fast because of the integration of the chip
For example my SBH-80 connects in one second top or even less when my s4 needs 4 or 5 seconds to do the same. Even on the Z Ultra it takes up to 2 seconds.

What, you got a SBH-20 (FYI mab71 it's a Bluetooth Handset ) IN your package ? In the french package the isn't even a pair of Sony MH-750 for the headset, it's just a old pair of headphone that came from '90
It's odd about the WiFi / LTE Because the LTE is known to drain more battery than WiFi in most situation. Do you have a good WiFi signal ? Maybe you could try to change the canal on your modem to optimize your signal, if it become stronger it would be better for the phone and then not pumping too much.
But 2-3% a night is not so much anyway

****! Mine is the old 90s one
I've also come from the g2.had the z3c for over a month now and I do miss a few things. The g2 screen was simply awesome and the led flash light was blinding. The battery is better for me on the z3c, I always have stamina turned on. Unplug at 7 am and by midnight I can still be at 85%. That's with just a bit of usage though. It's also better when I really hammer the battery too (ingress)

For instance, in the Italian Package, there is a MH-750 headset AND a and OTG cable. I'm not jocking at all, I was astonished when i saw this, especially when the price is lower than for the French people !
I've received today the MDR-NC31EM, it's worth the money, really (30-35 bucks)
Yeah, it might be the signal is bad (although it appears full), but in all instances I’ve witnessed, Wi-Fi drains more battery than my LTE.
Going back to STAMINA, I find its behavior unreliable. I enabled the Extended standby, and I made sure to exclude Facebook from the White listed applications to use background data connection, yet I still keep getting notifications from it. Also on the Developer options, in Process Stats, Facebook keeps getting a 100% runtime, mostly from its MqttPushService service.
I think I will still keep STAMINA on all the time, but I find it weird. I will search these forums for other people’s experience with it, otherwise it’d be wise to create a new Thread just to research into this.
By the way, Greg2Lu, no, the SBH-20 didn’t come IN the package. I bought my phone from my country’s online Sony Store. I paid more than USA price for it, but I thought it was normal imports system ripping me off, which isn’t unusual in my country, but I wanted the phone anyways (and the warranty, should I need it and receive it). What happened was that I received three packages with my purchase: Sony Xperia Z3 Compact (White), an SBH-20 headset, and a 5000 mAh CycleEnergy portable charger. The attached invoice mentioned the correct prices for each item. I would have preferred if they had simply sold me the phone for what it was, instead of bundling me with stuff I didn’t need and making me pay for it. The phone box DID come with a set of MH410c, though, but I bet they are crap, and I already got a good headset anyways.

IMHO, its not an upgrade from G2.

No, I don’t want to disable background data checking forever, that’s why I set specific rules for STAMINA (only when screen is off), problem is somehow Facebook applications seem to skip that.

I see what you mean. I found another way to disable it through Settings -> Personalization -> Manage notifications.
And yes, it is definitely not an upgrade. I traded screen resolution for more battery (or at least a longer lasting phone), but boy, I couldn’t be happier. A day of full usage, chatting and video and stuff, 18 hours. That’s awesome.
I’m gonna be keeping this baby for a long time.
Hey guys. So I just received my new smart watch today and I'm loving it! Wanted to start a thread about it asking if any of you have it so for. It's a pretty new watch and in the coming days hopefully I'll be posting some pics and vids.

Got one of these a few weeks ago and so far:
Runs like a dream, considering it's size
Will run all the apps I have installed on it so far.
Will not let me put an SDcard in that is 32GB or 16GB will only work with the bundled 8GB card. So I assume this might be formatted differently (have not checked)
Cannot get GPS to work! Perhaps it is not using a standard "western GPS chip"?
Camera is ok, but no zoom and you have to put your wrist down otherwise you take a picture of your hand.
MAJOR ISSUE ! Battery Power ! Says it can work for 24 hours with light use. Ha Ha Ha Ha what a load of BS. Lucky if you get 7 - 8 hours out of the battery with 3G working (Skype and FB apps running in the background, no GPS on, no BT on and no WIFI on)
That is about it so far if anyone has any other info I would be glad to read, because there is didly squat online about this watch/phone
More details.

I was pleasently surprised to find an 8GB SD card already there. That plus the 8GB built in storage (4.88GB of which is usable) leaves you with enough storage for your apps and music. Videos too if you're interested in watching on a teeni tiiny screen. It has a certain buzz to it. Lol. Also, it had a screen protector on it.
Another awesome feature that I found was that it has a BT notification app so you can sync it with your watch to receive notifications on it from your phone and basically use it as android wear which is what some imacwear users are dying for.
OK so I might have been quick to "diss" the battery power. Today the W9 has been going for 14 hour 26 mins so far I don't know if this is to do with the fact that the battery needed to "bed down" or because of the fact that I turned the back light to it's minimum setting? Well it is back to a middle setting so we will see what happens And is currently sat at 55% ..... we shall see.
Anyway more info :
The touch display, I would say, misses 5% of my "touching" but I do have problems with my moto g and it's touch screen, so I would say it will probably work for most people 100%.
What has surprised me, is that using a keyboard half the size of a postage stamp with a little finger which fills about 1/4 of the screen is quite accurate! Type the wrong letter, hit delete and then move the little finger to the right or left a millimetre or so and you have the right letter. Although typing like that takes ages. Solution ! Download the google keyboard and download your language of choice "offline version" and use speech to type, seems to work very well apart from the dual core chip working in overtime to keep up.
Back in a few days or hours with some more updates Just got GPS to get working!
OK the battery problem is not due to wifi lol.
If you charge the battery while the phone is on it does not charge properly, or does not charge enough, don't know which?
If you charge the battery in the off state while it "flickers" on and off the animated battery icon, it seems to charge the battery completely(?)
Charged the watch yesterday afternoon, while on and got 6 hours out of watch before it switched off. Charged it last night while in the "off state" and it has currently been running for 14 hours!
So if you want to get a full charge from your watch battery charge it while shutdown

Interesting info!
That's some interesting info on the battery life. Personally I leave the wifi and data connection off so at the end of the day I still have about 60 % battery remaining. I have managed to get the phone rooted and am looking to explore further. I bought the product at everbuying.com for $140. Compared to all the other smart watches this is the best bang for the buck because of the 1 GB ram and 8 GB ROM at such a low price. If you want I can do a video review of it and post it up.
I did install google keyboard and I love the gesture typing but for some reason I can't get the voice input to work. When I go to settings there isn't even an option for voice input in languages and input. I do have the mike button on my keyboard however its not working for some reason. when I click on it nothing happens.
My problem with the battery life is that it may be saying 82% and next minute the battery is dead! If I charge it when switched off I assume the electronics charge the battery but when switched on I assume the software takes over, a does not charge it fully?
Right the reason what you are getting no speech input (recognition) is that you have to be connected online via 3g. The alternative is to download the "offline" voice data.
Settings > Personal > Language & input > Google voice typing > offline speech recognition
When you use this offline it is a little slower (you get the feeling the dual core chip is working it's ass off) but it does work !
Would be interested to know what you used to root the unit?
Also would like to know if you have got the GPS working? (I still have had no luck getting this to work)
Oh and the reason I bought it was for GPS and the 1 GB ram. You try running any apps in 512Mb lol
Haha. True. I had the imacwear m7 and it would get laggy at times. I haven't tested the GPS yet but I wanna download offline maps for it like sygic or here maps.
Also, I dont have a "google voice typong " option in language and input.
I used kingoroot to root it and it was done in less then 5 mins.
I have 2 questions. 1. Have you got any lockscreen watch faces to work other then the stock ones? I have tried watchmaker but its not really good. Also, is there a way to leave the backlight on permanently? I realise that will kill my battery in a few hours but I just think it will be cool for the watch to show at all times.
2. Have you managed to connect it to your smartphone for reminders and notifications etc through the the btremind app? I can't seem to find the apk for the server on the phone side.
First, GPS finally got it working
It would probably have worked out of the box but could have taken 15 mins or more to do a satellite lock.
How to fix :
http : / / www . chinasmartphonereview . com / fix-gps-problems/
(With out spaces)
I now start to get a lock in around 10 seconds for the first sat and around 30 seconds for 5 when outside.
Inside forget it! Through a window forget it!
Now I have a satnav on my wrist

1) Sorry no but I assume you would have to root the device before being able to do this? And I don't want to do that yet. Plus I like the one that looks like an old digital watch
2) No I have not tried the btremind app, as I wanted the watch to be an independent comms device. Have you had a look through the watch storage (as yours is rooted) and spotted anything there?

I would say yes with a few limitations......
1) Screen is small but everything I have "thrown" at it so far works. Firefox,Mx player,Skype, Advance task manager, Navigator (Free), Facebook App, Google translate (Offline), Google voice search, speech recog (offline a little slow) GPS tools etc etc
2) Typing on the screen is "doable" but slow, get yourself a mini Bluetooth keyboard and you are away....
3) Battery! Battery is the only problem. Mine seems to have a mind of its own. Charge it one day and it will last over 24 hours, charge it another day and it lasts 6 hours????? Still not worked this one out but finding more and more about this device every day.
4) You do look like **** Tracy when using the phone, look him up on youtube if you don't know what I am on about.
Hope that helps

Qasimala if you go into the BTreminder app on the watch, it tells you in the help to look for an app on the play store called WatchAssistant.apk Still have not tried this yet.
Oh rooted with Kingo no problem thanks

Thank you very much for your comprehensive answer.
I would use this watch sporadically , to do some hands-free calls , receive and answer some whatsapp , and some e- mails.
Not too much.
Do you think I can use this watch for these operations?
Thank you very much and apologize for any inconvenience
how to connect this watch
I bought this watch for its feature set and elegant design. I found the identical watch from a number of different vendors at widely varying prices. No one offered any real support and the specified companion reminder program does not exist. I have tried every bluetooth reminder app on playstore and have found only two that actually work. It seems that the software in this watch is actually from unova. One clue is that the help program is from unova. The playstore unova ironman bt reminder program works with this watch when installed on my s4. The only other program I could make work is swapapp when installed on both the phone and watch. I still have a few issues with the watch, but overall, its a fine piece of hardware. I'm looking forward to learning from other user expieriences.
Using this watch just basically would get you through the day I believe if you keep it on 2g and keep the GPS off. I really love this thing and would recommend it to one and all.
Thanks so much for telling me how to connect the watch to the phone. I tried unova and it does work.
I keep trying to push this watch's limits. I played angry birds go racing on it without a hitch. Gonna try NFS most wanted next

Your English is better than mine and I am from England lol
You will not have any problem doing what you want above. Also you probably would not need a BT Headset as speech to the watch is good and sound from the watch is a good volume, you might just have to turn the CD player down
If you want to know how well the watch performs read the comment by qasimala Need for speed on a watch lol !!!! Let me know how it goes qasimala
This watch continues to surprise me! Need for speed is working super smooth! I'll upload a video when I'm near a WiFi hotspot sometime. I use the watch for a few things mainly. I record lessons in class, listen to music on an earpiece which I bought together with the watch, I use it for working out (installed the madbarz app and it works like a wonder), I take the occasional picture or video without anyone noticing and whenever I'm bored and don't have access to my phone, I play games on it. Just got the idea to install here maps on it. I think it'll be really good because it gives you turn by turn directions offline which will probably increase the battery life on navigation quite a bit. Will let you guys know how it works out.
Has anybody done a hands on video for the standard Phab 2. I am thinking about ordering it, but I would like to see it in action and hear what people think about it. There is not much out there yet about this one as it is being overshadowed by the Tango phone. Thanks for any info guys.
I have had mine for a few days and had lots of trouble so far. Not to say it is a bad phone, just hoping I received a bad one. Waiting on Lenovo to ship a replacement now.
'Timely'(clock/alarm) app doesn't work at all(force closes on opening) but it is most likely an issue with the app itself.
The Phone/Dialer app was buggy as well. It was showing all contacts on the contact page of the app, but search feature on contact page and T9 input on the dialing screen wouldn't bring up any information(just a blank screen) making me have to go into the contact screen and scroll down to whoever I wanted to get in touch with just to make a call. Then, the microphone wouldn't work when using the phone as a handset(hold up to head like a regular phone) but would work fine for Google("Okay Google") searches (or if connected to Bluetooth). A full, hard-reboot seems to have fixed the Phone/Dialer issues but it was annoying for a couple days.
It has a horrible WiFi(WLAN) battery drain issue as well. It has used as much battery as the screen has with the SOT of almost 3.5 hours. I mean, over 50% battery life left with 3.5hrs of SOT is not terrible, but I wonder how much better it could be...
The plastic back/case make noises intermittently(squeaky plastic-on-plastic noise) that is pretty annoying as well.
Hopefully the replacement phone will be better, if not, I'll return it and pay the difference for either the Plus or the Pro.
Gotta love that 14 day return policy...
So I went ahead and made the purchase too. My phone dialer would never pull up and would immediately force close even after reboots. I just downloaded a 3rd party dialer app and that works just fine. Today, the other bug hit me. My wife called and she could not hear me. I tried speaker phone and even hung up and called her back, but the microphone was not recognizing me during the call. This is an irritating bug, but it seems like it is just software. I also have an issue with turning the wifi on. If it is off, my phone will immediately turn it back off each time after I try to turn it on. The only way I can find to make it work is to turn it on directly after a reboot and then just leave it on. The only bug that is a big deal to me is the phone call issue. If that does not reoccur often, I can deal with the other issues since the phone was such a reasonable price.

I just bought Lenovo Phab2. So far so good. No issues. Pretty smooth. You just got unlucky and got the bad one. I am trying root but cannot find any info.
Unfortunately my replacement device seems to have the same issues the original did in regards to the Phone App. No contact loading. I wiped and installed my Google account every different way I could think of(7-8 times...) but no luck. Sorry Lenovo, like I said, I really wanted to like this phone, but I feel there are a lot of kinks that need to be worked out. Good luck to those of you with the fortitude to rock this beast, but I'm out. Sent it back yesterday for a refund and ordered an Axon 7 that I'll be picking up later today.

I know it's a pain, but I would try a hard reboot/wipe. That's the only thing that worked for mine(the original anyway) as far as the mic goes. Hopefully you have better luck than I did.
Check, Check, 1, 2, 1,2 - Mic issue - Otherwise pretty good phone
I have mine since 12/6 (just under a week).
Likes: Big Screen. Quality screen. I'm coming from a 1080P display and it's a 720P, but I have to say, it's bright, colors are good. Very clear. Good for consuming media and as a remote terminal (for Citrix/RDS). 32 GB of internal storage. Reasonably responsive. Not much of a gamer.
Dis-Likes: Microphone disconnecting. Camera. Teflon-like slickness of case. MicroSD Card caddy - cannot read my card.
OK, after long, obsessive deliberation on my next new phone, I ended up with this phone. It was a long and winding road to end up a place I didn't expect to be. I was originally intent on purchasing the Zenfone 3 Ultra. But since the fine folks at Asus, didn't want to a put a radio on this model that would get 4G/LTE speeds (in the U.S.) AND being that I use my phone for hotspot and pay for the data bandwidth, I wanted the ability to realize that bandwidth when hotspotted in on a notebook. So, I decide on the Phab2 Pro, but purchasing through the portal seemed like "unavailable", "ships in 5 weeks", "ships in 3 weeks" etc......So, around Thanksgiving, as I'm checking in on the Pro, I see that the Phab 2 is available for $30 bucks off the pretty low $200. I think to myself "What if I'm only in love w/ the idea of a big phone and not the reality of a big phone?". My phone prior was the Moto X Pure (great value, love the phone) 5.7" display. Pretty big, but not this big. So, I figure, a buck 70? why not? If I don't like it, it can be a tablet/lifeboat for the next keg-tub diving non-waterproof phone incident where I need an emergency phone. Again, it can be a tablet on my sofa console.
So, I purchase it. It comes. The first thing I noticed was the slipperiness of the phone. It's a big phone, that I thought I'd be able to single hand (I'm 6'3" w/ ham hands, not-petite). I cannot. At the fear of breaking a new (though reasonably priced) toy, I heir on the side of cautious and I operate w/ both. So, I figure, I'll just "OK Google" dial and use earpods. I quickly find out (believe) that "OK Google" exacerbates a microphone issue. Not sure if the process being spawned has enough rights, holds on to the application, causes a memory leak, or what. But if you "OK Google" dial, it will (*may*) lead to the mic becoming unresponsive and playing the "I can't hear you game". I will be the first to admit that phones are phones anymore. They are computers that you can also make and receive phone calls from *BUT* the phone functionality is still a pretty necessary element of these handheld computers. So, hopefully Lenovo will get this sorted out in Nougat, or maybe they paid short shrift to bug squashing on Marshmallow knowing they were quickly going to Nougat. But the mic issue definitely not great.
I did some testing and found that I could reliabley place calls 10 times in a row (mic connected) manually, then 10 w/ google while it was unlocked, then 9 out of 10 w/ google dialing while phone was locked.
I followed this up w/ 40 manual dials where the mic was always connected. I was pretty sure the mic issue was related to OK Google (voice command), but then I let it sit overnight (last night), and found that w/o any OK Google, the mic disconnected on the phone. (That's why I'm thinking maybe memory leak, as OK Google might exacerbate the problem, not cause it). Reboot fixes this; but they need to get this squared away or it could create some negative buzz around an otherwise pretty nice little (ok, big) value phone.
Ok hello from India!!!! Got this phone today, screen is bright but in sunlight okkish,,call quality great, touch fabulous, slow dt2w,net wlan speed great, gets attentions, software can b better , lag sometimes or freezes very slightly, while commuting not handy cause size.
First Impressions...
I dropped my Xiaomi Note (5.7in), spider-webs appeared = I **HAD-TO** get a new phone. I decided to try a larger size. Impressed by the 3Gig RAM, the size, the capacity for expandable memory, the FM radio, the price, I bought the Phab2. The shop did not have a cover for this device, they advised me to go online. sigh... (that's how the spider-webs appeared in the first place... no cover!!!
The size takes some getting used to. Fits in my pockets ok. Camera = ok. Colors = ok. Calling and SMS = ok. Music reproduction = ok.
I. am. satisfied.
I have the Phab 2 (NOT the Phab 2 Plus - NOT the Phab 2 Pro) - bought in Prague, CZ.
-I had a problem to make GROUPS in my contact list. Android automatically added my contacts from my laptop Google Contact List. New folks that I added later to the phone could not be put into the newly created Group-List. What gives?
-A somewhat similar problem showed up when I attempted to make a Group-List of widgets / programs. Every morning when I switch on the phone, I have to re-organize the widgets & programs into groups AGAIN.
Is this a systemic problem? Am I doing the processes incorrectly? Can we add this to the list of known bugs?

Not seeing much on here about this watch so I thought I would start a new thread just for it! Who has one on their wrist? Tell us what you think. It is high on my list for my next Smartwatch.

I've had one for several weeks. Absolutely love it. I've had several other Mobvoi watches, but this is the best of them all. I'm getting close to 3 days battery life with all sensors turned on, using the secondary display. I'm able to sleep with it on to use the TicSleep app. Play Store loads quickly on it, and runs smoothly. If I get a call while wearing my ear buds, the call comes in simultaneously on my phone, my buds, and the watch, giving me the option to pick which one to answer the call. No other watch has ever responded that quickly to calls. All in all, a great watch. Well worth the expense.

Mine is supposed to show up this Friday. Can't wait! I'm using an Amazfit Pace so I expect a huge improvement. Still, my Pace that I use since 2 years does a fine job.
Ticwatch Pro 3 gps
Just received my Ticwatch Pro 3 gps and loving it so far. Took 20 days for delivery, what they didn't mentioned when ordering, they stated 4 to 6 days from ordering, but ok. On the Mobvoi forum, i have read some disturbing post on the watch and poor customer service from Mobvoi. But isn't that with all forums, you just only complain if something is wrong, not if everything works ok. Well have fun with the watch!
Hello.
I hope for a few opinions from the owners of the watch, which are a consequence of yesterday's software update?
Been using mine for a month. This is what a wearos watch should have always been. Great batt life, fabulous display. Got a deal for $200 direct from mobvoi, pre ordered.
Sounds like a good wear os watch...
I pre-ordered this watch and have had it around 5 weeks now.
This is my first wearOS watch by choice. I waited for a processor that was half decent and that came with the Snapdragon Wear4100.
This watch lasts be between 2.5 to 3 days with me doing a GPS tracked walk every evening for around 1 hour, 24 hour heart rate monitoring, constantly connected via Bluetooth to my phone.
This watch also doesn't have the latest WearOS update that is supposed to improve app opening times etc but even without that, this watch is smooth and it doesn't feel like there are lags anywhere.
There isn't a custom ROM yet but if they come in time this watch would only get better.
In short, if you want a WearOS watch, this is a clear winner and overall great watch.

My watch arrived a few hours ago, delighted so far - but I'm unable to register on the Mobvoi site, no matter what I enter the page always gives the error "Please enter correct phone".

EDIT: and the answer is - you enter your email address in the field marked "Phone number" (!)
Just got mine today and it's a nice watch. My first one too. The announced endurance, récents update of the os, the price, the snapdragon and the two screens convince me to finally buy one. Waiting for a really good one since the firsts Lg watch. Hope it will work for a long.
Calls are clear, large choices of apps and themes.
I think I'll buy another bracelet and an protection glass. If anyone had one to recommend.
Fr customer.
It's been more than a week with the watch and I'm impressed with everything around it. Many applications and sensors for everything that interests us in everyday life. Responds quickly to everything, when receiving notifications and when making calls, the screen responds immediately without delay.
I got mine yetserday.. gods I missed the wearOS line.. so glad I'm past my Tizen device now.
Some questions though:
whats happened to the gestures?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0WhKuklpQ9A
I dont seem to be able to do the "perform an action" "dip" Gesture anymore
Also where is the setting that "lights up" the grey screen? I don't seem to have that option
*Edit* Fixed this, had to turn OFF the "Tilt to Wake" to get the light up...
If i understand your question, this gestures are in Settings/ Gestures/ For navigation.
On another question for lighting in FTN screen, there is no option to change time to light.
We have option to disable the light on ftn screen, just set theater mode from quick buttons.
For light, set tilt to wake OFF.
What is for you dip gesture?

The "Dip" gesture let you dip your hand down to "open the notification"
and the reverse "lift" gesture to close the opened app (go back essentially)
These two dont seem to be on WearOS anymore
Hi, anyone got this issue?
I try to test the watch to less than 5%, but it doesn't automatically switch to essential mode. Anyone know what might be wrong? I have tried to set it in the essential mode apps but seems doesn't change a thing. Thanks
This must be the kernel source of this watch according to the official forum:

hart reset
does someone know, how to really hart reset the ticwatch pro 3 gps? I played around with these adb commands and the normal hart reset via system does not bring the whole system back. I would like to wipe out of a recovery modus ? I played around, because my battery time was incredible: just one day juice ... tried to deinstall the whole tic - system, but something went wrong, from now, I´ve got no sensor activities!
Thanks in advance

There are a lot of issues with the sensors at the moment, including myself after the latest firmware;
Since i am a new user I cannot link to an external site. But:
h ttps://forum.mobvoi.com/viewtopic.php?p=74876#p74876
Pretty happy with mine but my only gripe is I'm not getting notifications for the Messenger app. And searching for the app in play store on the watch comes up with nothing.
Anyone else having the same problem?

I have TWP model 2019 and TWP 3. Activating a watch with Redmi Note 8T is a horror. When successful, the watch does not work as a handsfree. After attempting to make a telephone connection from the watch, the BT pairing is canceled and he must reset both the watch and the phone to reconnect it. Various discussions suggest that this is a common problem. Does anyone know the solution?
