Yes try outside under natural light.
Most indoor lighting now is PWM. The frequency is high enough that human can see the flicker but the slow motion features certainly do.

It's weird not doing it now but in certain light indoors it flickers bad like said maybe different light conditions making it do it just wanted make sure wasn't my phone or update caused it, [emoji106]

Yes if the light isn't CW (continuous wave) source it will show up. Worst offenders are LEDs powered off 60Hz mains with nothing but a diode in series. (Cheap Christmas lights) Tree will look ON to the eye but fast shutter speeds and capture make it look like a seizure inducing flickering/shimmering mess!

Camera Settings u use to take best picture

So, lets discuss what settings u r using to take best (good) pictures on ur Note2 camera, also post the picture
It would be great if every one here also provides the settings via. They love the most and use the most and suggest them also. That's what basically I opened up this thread
Basically a place where we can share what we know so that all can also learn and take most out of there note2 camera
So let's start guys! I always wanted to know the best configs. to take the best photos at the right moments. At the moment, I'm using ''Lucky'' configurations. Please, share your knowledge with our community. :highfive:
I guess lower exposure setting is one way.
You need just 2 settings so as to have the best photos everywhere and any time.
First one is HDR specially when your plan has strong shadows in different places.
It helps to have the same light at all the picture. No white sky or dark down part..
See my photos:
First one with HDR. See the sky color.
Second normal settings
An other very important setting is the "Low light". It gives you nice results at places like a room with low light, when you can't use flash.

super fine, anti hand shake, single shot, 8M pixel, and other effects depends on situation
No matter if I select low light or normal..low li8 photos always comes out grainy..any suggestions? ?

With the Note 2 camera there are many options to take great photos. There isn't 1 particular option that works better than the others. Each option is tailored to suit a specific set of circumstances in which your taking the photograph. Your best bet would be to go through each and everyone of the different options and find the 1 that best suits the situation in which your trying to take a photograph and play around with the settings.

If u tryin to shoot on a area already havin enogh light. U shud decrease the iso to 200/400. N if its dark then increase the exposure a lil.
Thtd wat I read on googl. Correct me if m wrong.

From a photographer's perspective, it is ridiculous to see people forcing shots in the worst lighting situation possible. Usually, light is everything, and every step possible is taken to provide enough ambient light, bounce light, indirect light so you can take it at the lowest ISO settings without blur from handshake. Sunny days with no clouds at noon are the worst times to shoot. Deep overcast days at noon are best lighting situations as long as you don't want rich blue skies in your photos.
The settings I like to change most are exposure and white balance. I think HDR works great also. I've changed my shortcuts so that I have always in front of me is white balance, exposure, ISO, light metering.
I always have that no good flash off. Always have guidelines on.

Explain your reason behind "Always have the guidelines on" please!
Standard settings work for me. Just flash off and judicious use of the manual focus for some bokeh as required. It's a shame that there's no AE lock that I can find, whereas the iPhone has AE/AF lock from touching each point. As a result I set one of the camera quick settings for manual exposure control.
What the guy further up said is true, the setting and camera can only do so much, the rest is up to the photographer. I've seen amazing pictures from way worse phone cameras than the Note 2!

No, not if anything is moving in the shot you are trying to take. ...
Low light no flash single shot.
Exposure up or low light mode in low light settings. Iso down in bright settings as needed. Hdr is good for landscapes. Make use of white balance settings under different lighting indoors (incandesent, florecent, etc.).

Laggy viewfinder in darkness

I love almost everything about this phone, but I knew it couldn't be perfect.
When it's even somewhat dark, I noticed that the viewfinder lags like crazy, to the point where you're not even sure what shot you're going to get. I have the AT&T version. Can anyone confirm this behavior on the International or Verizon versions?
With a Snapdragon 800, there's really no excuse for this. I'm sure a software update could resolve it, but it's currently my ONLY beef with the phone.

Really? So I'm the only one this happens to? You don't notice a low frame rate in the viewfinder in darkness?
Sent from my LG-D800 using Tapatalk 4
yeah, when you're in camera mode in the dark, it's a very low framerate. most phones have this issue because it's switching to a high ISO or even night mode to allow more light into the lens, which in turns makes a low FPS screen

Laggy viewfinder here as well, not as laggy on my Lumia 925. Not a big deal though.
Sent from my LG-D800 using Tapatalk 2
Wow, I've bought the G2 last Sunday and the camera is really extremely laggy in low light!
I mean, the viewfinder works at ~5 fps! Also, the pictures become extremely smudgy, like everything is made of wax.
My Samsung Galaxy S 1 (one, yes the first SGS, GT-I9000) does not do that!
I'm so disapointed because this phone has everything I want from a phone and I was expecting so much more from the camera...
Now I see that the original post was made on September 14. It's October 23 and still no update from LG whatsoever.
I have 15 days to return the phone, maybe that's what I will do.
Bigger question is how do the pics themselves come out?

Really blury/smudgy, like everything is made of wax.
This has been my biggest gripe with this phone, unsure if it'll ever be fixed but i hope so. Traded in my note 3 because of the size and that's the one and only thing i dislike about the g2, but its a big concern =\. Concert and bar outing later, all smudged
I agree with this....don't try to take pictures in a dark area...no point it'll come out BAD smudgy and awful. I hope they fix this.
Noticed this problem over the weekend at a nightclub. Granted it is pretty dark in there, but I'd expect to at least be able to focus an image from 5 feet away but nope, pics came out very blurred and the viewfinder was useless. I hope there's a fix soon.

Galaxy Note 3 - Low Light Camera Noise

Hi All,
I just purchased SGNote3 N9005 yesterday. The battery performance is decent, S800 is blazing fast and I really enjoy my new GNote.
Unfortunately, the performance of the camera is sub-par compared to S4 (in overall), especially in low light condition.
Attached is the samples of the photo taken under low light condition, red spots (tint?) are seen on the screen as well as on the picture taken.
Could anyone confirm and reproduce this bug?, if not I'm looking for 1 to 1 replacement...
Is this going to be another HTC One Camera bug?

This might sound stupid, but did you remove the plastic protective film on the lens of the camera? I asked this bcos I didn't know there was one and the camera was behaving rather strange, sometimes wouldn't even focus when put close for micro shot...And after I found out and remove the film, problem solved

There's just too much of noise in low light. More low light samples on my blog post here:

Camera gets choppy in lower light

Is this normal? It goes down to maybe 15FPS whether recording video or taking a picture, and that's reflected in the playback of videos so it's not just a preview thing. Then when I focus on something relatively bright like my computer screen, it goes back up to 60/30FPS.
Check Android Development Section. This issue has been solved long back.

Disable thermal throttling in the hidden menu will solve the camera lag issue
Sent from my LG-D802 using xda app-developers app
I don't see how this is a thermal issue. The reason why the framerate drops is because LG over-utilizes the optical image stabilization, and sets the shutter speed too low, meaning it takes forever to snap one picture and each frame of video takes forever, so the fps drops and everything smears and blurs in indoor and low light. The flip side is the image will be bright with less noise, IF you are a human tripod and nothing in your scene moves, which is not true 99% of the time. I just use my iPad to take indoor shots now around the house. It's instant, and it has noise, but no more smearing and weird glowing light and light trails. LG still hasn't fixed this issue with their first OIS device. Setting ISO to something high just makes the image dark as hell, since it seems to turn off the OIS completely and the shutter speed can't be changed.
Okay, but try disabling thermal throttling. It does help.

What's your problem with the camera anyway? It shoots wonderful images as long as there is enough daylight.
Keep in mind it is a SMARTPHONE, not some kind of DSLR camera. Photos will never be as good as a real camera, the lens is simply too small.
Compared to other smartphone in life light the lg is wank, nobody is trying to compare it to a standard or DSLR camera, ffs people just don't get it, the lg G2 camera is amazing when in optimal light but indoors my HTC one S pisses all over it because the lag in low light on the lg g2 causes blurring very bad blurring but my HTC one S focusses and takes pictures as fast indoors as it does outdoors shall I continue ? Has the penny dropped yet COMPARED TO OTHER SMARTPHONE CAMERAS THE LGG2 LAGS IN LOW LIGHT !

The view finder in G2 is slow because it relies on long shutter time to get a bright picture in low light. What people want is that it uses high ISO instead, because having noise in the view finder isnt bad as long as normal pictures still use the higher shutter time. Will this affect the picture? Probably not, but it will give a feeling of a less laggy camera at least.
Excuse me guys, I'm really interested in buying this phone but I'm a bit confused about low light photos. I mean, the "lag" in taking low light photos is expected so to increase light intake. How are low light photos compared to other smartphones? I come from a HTC One S.
Thanks.

I used nearly all smartphone brands in the market and G2's camera is the most disappointing one for me. Although s3 has 8mp camera it gives better reslults. In my opinion 13mp cam with OIS must be far better.

Being laggy is also one of the worst parts of the camera and I hoped that at least LG can resolve that issue with the KK update.
