Fhd vs qhd+ s10 plus - Samsung Galaxy S10+ Questions & Answers

I don't know if it's just me or not but guys please clarify full HD vs Quad HD it just nitpicking or what i dont know,
But cant find a major difference between the 2 modes.

QHD+ is definitely sharper. Especially text, websites etc. There's absolutely a visible difference.
Battery diifference is almost negligable, so there's no reason not to use the full capability of the device. It's a waste not to.

Always use QHD+ with no issues...

No offence but i dnt kno its just me, cant find huge diffrence.
Tried to look 10 mins each
Text looked a little sharper agreed.

Viewing angle shots Xperia Z vs. Optimus 4x vs. iPhone 4

Hi guys and gals,
got my Xperia Z today and am really disappointed with the display viewing angles. Just wanted to share a few shots with you for comparison.
(Don't hate me for the iDevice, it's a business phone, didn't have a choice  )
The bad thing is: you really notice the color distortion at normal use. While looking up front, everything's fine. But tilt in any direction and you immediately see the problem. Didn't expect the 4x display to be so much better, minus the resolution. Maybe I just have caught a "bad" Xperia, but... meh. Guess I will return it and wait for the X-Phone or so.
I read on a german site that users are reporting a great variety in display quality, this is really a bummer on a flagship smartphone.
regards,
pint

That's not even close to bad. The two others uses IPS displays and the Z does not.

Whats the issue, 99% of the time you will look head one, which your photo proves Sony is as good as the other phones.

to be fair, not every one has the same expectations and preferences so if you really want good viewing angles this is not the phone for you or if you feel you miss out when other phones have better viewing angles, this is not the phone for you. in the end of the day Sony could have prevented this by using a better panel.

The screen quality looks amazing! Viewing angels are alot better than expected too.
The Sony Xperia Z looks much sleeker and has a better design compared to the other 2. The Iphone looks tiny.
Wow... Are ppl this mindless? It was proven that the screens are all the same. How can some look bad and some great? Simple. They can't.
What is happening is that some ppl are just shouting about how great the scrrn is, while ignoring a huge flaw.
I don't understand why ppl don't recognize this and speak up? Tell Sony you arent happy so they can change it in the next version.
Why are ppl settling for less?

Because... The better phones Sony Makes, the better for eveeyone. Simple capitalism. I have a vested interest in pointing out flaws in the device, just as I am critical of several things on otther device
Such as DDR2 Ram on the HTC one instead of DDR3. Not to mention low GL bench scores and the the camera not necessarily living up to the hype.

So, when the S4 is announced with exynos 5, i take it you'll focus 100% to the HTC One forms and repeatedly post about it being outdated and obsolete - right? You know, like exactly you did with the Xperia Z.
Please can you take a photo with a better camera? Thanks

Nobody looks on their smartphone in the exact same angle 99% of the time. Do you hold your smartphone straight before your eyes when you look at it? Because that's the only angle the colors are shown correct. The slightest tilt will result in distortion and this ist f*ing annoying.
I have my phone lying on the table while reading news or watching videos, imagine that. Looks ****ty.

The camera's great, I just had not-ideal settings. But given I wanted to show the color distortion, I guess the problem is pretty obvious. What do you want to see?

The fourth photo shows the phone at an angle (even this is unnatural though) and everything looks great.
Mind it's a shop where strong lights reflect on the Z's surface.

Compare the icon colours of picture 2+3 to the colors on picture 1. Obvious.
Since there are no colours on picture 4, take a look at the software button bar and compare the lightness to that on on picture 1. Pretty much different, I don't think it looks too great.
edit: also compare the software button bar on pic 2+3 to pic 1, it's almost as "nice" as the display on my Archos A70.
Wow XZ screen looks really wonderful at first pic, which the same viewing angle I use 99% of the time

Display? It can't be worse than G2's, it's next gen WQHD AH-IPS matrix
Batter? Disappointing? Where? You need 18hours per day of surfing or what? 7hrs is pretty enough
Are you looking at numbers (resolution) only? Look at the blacks, look at the contrast... it's bad. Plus it doesn't allow full brightness when phone gets warm.
And yes 6h of web surfing at 50% brightness sucks, Z2 or G2 give twice of that, around 12h.

This is clearly a pathetic review. They say everything against it on the particular page and on the last page they say everything positive. And those smart people made the review with the preproduction unit too! A phone with a tallk time of 25hours can never have 6:30 Minutes of web browsing. Also, what disappointment in benchamarks? Seriously? Then Nexus 5 is the worst phone ever on performance..
Best is go and have a look at it yourself. Samsung paid them sooo much just to get the name down.. They sold more than 100000 Units in the first 5 days which was 3 times more than the S5 so obviously Samsung is jealous. I have written a mail to them asking about each and every aspect. Hope they reply soon.:good:

Well the numbers and measurement don't lie. We already know the benchmark number will not be as good as s5, m8 due to QHD resolution given they use same cpu as S5 witb FHD resolution.
browsing make use of QHD, graphic, processing, javascript, and everything, while talk time is not (just black screen).
Screen measurement is disapointing already compared to even G2. It means the panel quality is not as good.
They praised it in the end because from normal user it really is good lhone witb good design. LG tried hard.

I'm sure there is some wild conspiracy as to why GSM Arena lied in their review. Surely Samsung paid them off! Speaking of Samsung and sales...there was a huge no sale in South Korea the same time the S5 launched, which explains the low initial numbers. This has been reported by news outlets. I'm an LG fan and wanted the G3 to be so much more, but they were too quick to market with the QHD screen and should've waited for better battery tech or processor optimization. I'm buying the G2 over this phone, because it's been proven to be an amazing device, even months later. Don't let your fanboyism blind you...

For those thinking of switching to note 4.. Srs

I just went to my local tmobzsz and used the note 4, i have the g3 on zone rom with skydragon kernel so bare(bear? Idfk lol) with me.. I was really expecting a lot since it was a amoled 2k screen.
I turned it on and went straight to display settings and put the most vivid color settings it had and to my surprise my g3 colors were wayyy more to my liking (skydragon has a different color setting, colors really pop and my g3 has no tint, my girlfriends does tho) but yea my color settings are basically in the middle of the gallery icon in accessibility settings and i was really shocked to see how faded they were on the note and its not like my colors are crazy saturated to where everything looks weird but theyre amazing to me. Im really glad i went with the g3, the 805 makes no difference to me, i have greenify with no lag, and i used to game a lot on my phone but realised no matter what, if a game is high end, a small screen doesnt cut it.. our screen is sharper(ppi makes a difference) and the colors on skydragon are more vivid. Amoled always looked cartoonish to me aswell but thats my 2 cents. Think before buying or trading.
No phone has our high density, colors (on skydragon) or design. Yea the note 4 looks better than any NOTE OR GALAXY but our g3 is nexus like. And our brightness is blinding.
And for all those thinking of the n6.. That design killed it, dual speakers? Ok? Skydragon has fauxsound and with that app you can find around the webzs my speaker can be heard from 2 rooms away on full blast, 6 inches with wayy less pixels andd amoled ...after today. I have desided to stay.
Just waiting for mr faux to release a aosp kernel so those colors can be on cm

I find the G3 alot like the nexus in terms of looks too, i mean cover up the colour panel at the bottom they look nearly the same - all black looks mean as
I've never had any issues with the color reproduction on our device quite frankly. Of course, if you keep two devices side to side and compare then you'll find differences but if you judge the G3 standalone - I don't really think you can complain about the colors. Despite not being an AMOLED our G3's blacks are quite deep (and I've used AMOLED previously with the Note 2).
All in all, it's nice to see people still finding the G3 great. I find both the Note 4 & the Nexus 6 to be great devices. Maybe the Nexus 6 is too huge for some people's likings, but you never know until you've held one in your hands. Still, nothing that'll make me switch from my G3 so soon. ☺
I might be the only person that cancelled a note 4 preorder and bought a G3. I loved the form factor and size of the G3. Perfect for my hand.
I also primarily use a phone as a just that, a phone. Novelty wears off real quick with me and I know I will never use a pen interface on a phone.
Im right there with all of you guys. But i never really thought pixel density mattered till today idk if its the fact that its amoled or not but the sharpness difference are crazy. The n6 really shouldve chosen the g3 screen to be honest, with all those high specs, less than 500 ppi. Might let some dow , especially for the price

The Note 4 has the best phone display to date, as tested scientifically.
G3 or Note 4
Hi all,
I do look at this a bit differently. Although the screen of of the G3 is indeed beautiful I really don't think it weighs up to the amount of resources it takes. Same probably goes for the note 4. Maybe some users really see the difference but if I load the same wallpaper on both my "old" Note 3 and my new G3, I must try really hard to see any difference at all. This leads me to believe that the screen quality has reached it's limits as to what you can actually see with the human eye. What would like to see is a phone that actually uses its processor and battery just for better performance (as in speed and ROM and RAM capacity and battery life). Isn't it crazy that so much time and money is being spend on even greater displays which my eyes can't grasp anyway?
This raises a few questions:
1* How come we have a microSD card with 128 GB of ROM but most phones come with 16 or 32 GB?
2* If the Note 4 (or G3 for that matter) would have the same display as the previous model, but with the new battery and processor? How fast would it go and how long would a battery last?
Obviously I'm not a developer and maybe the above isn't quite as simple as I put it, but I do know this: My rooted Note 3 with Slim Rom on it, runs faster and smoother then my new G3!
Maybe someone with more knowledge can explain.

Lmao. Had to. But seriously guys adjust your colors on skydragon and go test it out side by side. Sharpness g3 wins hands down, colors in my opinion are way better on g3 if you know how to set it up, coming from the n4 which had a **** screen till faux released his kernel with gamma settings, i became obsessed with screen colors.

The thing is, its not really the hardware that makes the phones runs smoother anymore, depending on what skin is ON android.. I HAVE A REALLY OLD PHONE RUNNING cM11 (just realised caps in on sorry)the motorola defy and it runs smooth. And its gunna be able to support android l because we have a def that resized the partitions to let it be able to run, and i bet its gunna run really good. The thing is companys add so much **** to android it needs the high specs just to run the software, screens dont really make a difference from 720 to 2k, its the size of the screen that kills the battery. I honestly dont know why google release the n6 with all those specs because android l is really optimized now it doesnt need 3 gigs of ram nor does it need that cpu the battery is a nice touch since it isnt removeable. But yea I ran L on the n5 and its butter smooth, kitkat on my n7 is butter smooth and i just added greenify to it, its so fast it looks fake. I guarantee the n4 is still gunna be really smooth because even carbon rom with all those extra features are stilllll smooth.
Its gotten to the point where specs dont matter but they see how people are and take it as a selling point(take advantage)

well, the thing is if the n5 had our screen, with our batt and 32 gigs or 64, that wouldve been that phone. but i seriously doubt any company would do that because then when they want to top that, they wouldnt be able to. they know people always want better so they never make perfect, they want us to keep buyin new **** so they can make moneyy

Yeah? How about Pen tile "ripoff"? "Diamond pattern", they say. How about getting 30% less full RGB pixels than advertized on the box? Yeah, yeah, babe, pay to them, cheaters

Note 5 rumors already

I've read several just released articles about samsung producing a 5.9 inch 4k screen for it.
http://www.technobuffalo.com/2014/11/06/galaxy-note-5-might-sport-ultra-hd-4k-display/
My understanding over the years is that on screens this size you would really not be able to tell the difference between the two anyway.
So any experts out there can you provide insight.
Will it be noticeable on phone screens at the level we are now.....
Although the prospect of it is fun to talk about, I'm too in love with my note 4 to think about that right now. I wouldn't doubt samsung will not want to be out done in their own space but unless they can squeeze 5.9 inch screen into this same form factor and achieve the same battery, no thanks imo.

I agree, I think everyone will say you can't tell the difference, nobody wants that. But if they pull it off with good battery life and decent form factor, everyone will want it, even if they can't tell the difference (ie 720P -> 1080P -> 2160P).
Yea. 5.9 is too much. 5.7 is extreme borderline. That's one reason I have no interest in the Nexus 6. It's too big, and it's only big for the sake of being big. Doesn't offer any extra functionality with its size like the note does
They should have released the note 4 with a 6" screen. Same size or a tad bigger would have been perfect.
I read somewhere that the naked eye doesn't even see a difference between 1080p and 4K until you have a screen size of 50 inches. That said, on a Smartphone, it'd be pointless. Then again, I did see this page that has a chart that contains the distance from your monitor vs the size of your monitor, and shows a line where you'd see a difference. Not sure how accurate this is. The chart only goes down to 2 ft (viewing distance) and a 20 inch monitor. Most of us may be looking at are phones from about 1 ft away, roughly. That said, I can't imagine 4k actually making a difference, on screen. Now, if the phone were to get docked and the content was viewed on a TV, that'd obviously be a different story.

I don't mind big screens. I saw 2 weeks ago about a phone the Hisense X1 (I think that's the name) but it is supposed to be here in the next few weeks they say. It's an overs seas right now but it's got a freaking 6.8 inch 1080 screen and the usual specs.
The damn thing comes with a remote control for it which I've never heard of.
That might be much but for me my ideal would be 6.
I don't talk that much and I mainly use my 4 for writing and as a computer.

Agreed. If this baby was 6 inches I would consider it the perfect phone. Aside from Lockzilla and their pita control

I as well have been told by TV experts that unless your TV is 50 inches or bigger you wouldn't tell if it was 720 or 1080.
I just was not sure if the principle applied to phones as well.
I will say I had to operate on my wife's S4 last night and it made me love this screen even more.

Yeah I know that they will continue screen wars always until it's 20k. I was just wondering on these phone screens if it would make a noticeable difference or basically be a marketing point
Short of 64 bit architecture what would actually be changed for the N5?

the science says your eyes won't tell the difference,
but your OCD tells you that you will, it tells me that too. but it's best to ignore it.
Rumor has it the Note 6 will be out after the Note 5.
I can easily tell the difference between 720p and 1080p on my 40" tv at any distance from 2in to 15ft, I have an S5 and can definitely tell the difference between that and my old Droid Razr HD when holding it between 4 in from my nose and full arms length (approx 2'), I have both and use both every day, the HD although 720p is one of the sharpest cell phone screens I have ever seen, but the S5 is so much better, I can still see the pixels (when extremely close) on the Razr HD, but not at all on the S5. I am not interested in 4k at all, 2k would be nice I think, but not the right format for the display dimensions of the standard phone shape.
That said, I eagerly await the opportunity to order a Note 4 DE, the only thing that would change my mind on that is if Samsung announces a 2015 12.2" note pro model with reasonably decent specs (the last one was spec'd too low).
IMO

Just my two cents...I personally can tell a huge difference between the 1080p S5 and the QuadHD display of the LG G3. And I'm a Samsung guy. Anyways, I'm back on the 900T. So much snappier and reliable but I do miss the G3's screen terribly. Lol...

I'm no chip expert, but everything I have read has confirmed this.
The next one will be 64, but apps and games no where near max out the current tech we have.
It will probably be forever before 64 bit tech is taken advantage of.

I am surprised to hear that because the Note 3 is still a powerhouse of a phone to me. It's just that the locked bootloader was very restrictive.

I came from the Galaxy S5 recently! Welcome!
Yes the note 3 was a beast and still is....but in comparison to the note 4 it shows its age as it feels really dated
I downgraded in screen size from the xperia z ultra but this screen is amazing camera is freaking awesome. And so is the screen I always said why do we need a 4k screen but now I have one I know why

Dude YOUR clearly retarded.. no naked eye can see the difference between 2k and 4k. You got stunned because the panel is different... n the color reproduction is different. Does not mean the actual ppi in full HD was a dramatic increase when switcging to 4k. Learn more about hardware n display panels (digitizer).. ill pay for someone to spt a lixel in a full HD screen while viewing a full hd video.. the human eye just cant spot it...
