phone off (flight mode - ON) SMS Issues

i usually turn on the flight mode at night, meaning the phone is off, my concern is, when somebody sent me sms while the phone is off, after turning ON the phone (flight mode-OFF) i still do not receive the sms sent ...
i should still be receiving the sms after turning ON the phone, right?
is there any setting in the xda2 to configure? or is it network dependent?
thanks.
Yes you should receive any outstanding sms messages,. I cant find any settings that address this in the inbox. I know that when using a Nokia phone I would switch it on and sometimes recive 4 or 5 messages that were sent when the phone was off, however now that you have mentioned it I cant recall ever receiving any pending sms when switching on the xda or xda 2. Maybe somebody else knows the problem or procedure with sms. I assumed that the message was broadcast once if the recipient was online but placed in pending on the system if phone was off, if that is the case I wonder what happens to the sms received while phone is off if we arent getting them when switching on.
i would say this is a problem with your mobile service provider.. if the phone aerial is off, the phone company holds the sms until the phone registers itself on the network again, it shouldn't have anything to do with the phone
More than one SMS sent every sending message
Guyz i got sms issue 2. But my version is everytime i send one message 2 the recipient. The recipient will get 2 or 3 messages from me. I've cross checked with another phone, and find out that it isn't operator issue. I think it has something 2 do with the radio version or protocol version of the WM2003SE ROM. Coz before i upgraded, everything just seems fine. Any help would be appreciated.

Are you using SPB Pocket Plus or another app that really closes a program when you press the x? The problem you describe is normally encountered when you close the messaging app ( really close it, not minimize it) before you get the pop-up that the message was sent. If you close the program before you get that message, the messaging app thinks the sms is not sent and resents it, 2 or three times. To evade this, just add tmail.exe ( for T-Mobile branded units, for other branding just add the name of the message app for that unit) to the exceptions list in Pocket Plus or any other program you use to close programs. Then the notification that the message is sent will appear normally on your screen and the device nows that the message is sent. Remember that the messaging app is minimized instead of closed when you do this, so be sure to close the app through start-settings-memory to avoid it staying loaded in your RAM.
For SPB Pocket Plus, go into the SPB options, click on Close Button, feature options, and add the program to your exceptions list.

Yes, i use SPB Pocket Plus. Thx 4 d solution. I really appreciated. I'll try this soon.
You are welcome! BTW, I just tested it, and when I turn on fliht mode, my sms-es are qeued untill I switch flight mode off. Then I receive the queued sms-es on my Magician. If this does not work on a phone, I guess this is a problem with the provider.

TXT Messages Don't Really Delete

I have found that the more messages I have in my in/out boxes for text messages, the more frequently I have to do a soft reset because WM froze. So, I periodically clear my boxes. However, I reciently got a replacement phone because of a bluetooth issue. Now, with the new phone, I cant get the messages to really delete. I have tried "Clear Text Messages," manually deleting the txts then deleting again from the deleted box, and using the "Empty Deleted Items." Each time the texts disapear, but when I do a soft reset, they return. WTF??
The phone is a stock Verizon VX6800 with no custom ROMs/Radios/etc. The only aftermarket software I have installed yet is ThemeMaster to switch my themes.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
Anyone know what's going on with this?
Only thing I have to suggest is before you reset the device, make sure your text message app is shut off. Typically you'll lose new texts and such when you don't, works the same for everything deleted. Or just use the power button to shut it off. I heard it turns off everything for you when you do that.

I think this is a lot of poo myself. What does it matter if a message is setting in a file with no activity.
But yes, as mentioned, try shutting down your messaging in the running programs after you delete them. Then reset it.

3rd Party Messaging Apps will not receive text

Hello All!
I've been having this problem for a few weeks now and im all out of ideas of what to do.
Carrier: T-Mobile
Wearable: S3 Rugged
Extra Service: DIGITS
Coming From: LGV20 which never had these issues with the same plans and accesories
So to start, when i got the phone inittially during setup of the google accounts i noticed that my OTP SMS Pushes were not being received, or auto filling the information. I skipped past all of that and noticed that anywhere that OTP text were suppose to autofill in different applications, it would not even when i received the text and got a notification.
So after a while of using TEXTRA which was working fine, one day i stopped receiving ALL text not just mms. I was able to send but never was I able to get anything from anyone. I ditched TEXTRA and went back to the stock Samsung app and noticed that all text were there, even though it was not default. After using the Samsung messages app i decided to go back to textra, heres whats funny. After Textra did it's initial setup, it only showed half of the recieved text from up to that day. Messages were incomplete, some just had one reply from a user and nothing else. So I also tried this with Android Messages and it had the EXACT same message log as textra. Both were not receiving the full logs from the server. Today Android Messaging was working for a good part of the day, then it just stopped all of sudden again.
Can someone help me with this, I've wiped the cache and factory reset the phone. Ive added and removed the multi-line settings in the samsung settings. I've tried the legacy settings on textra. I've called the DIGIT's customer service to see if they could fix it but they made and interesting point that it couldnt be digit because it wouldnt interfere with 3rd part messaging apps. When i switch apps i always make them default, i wipe the app cache etc.
I have a gut feeling this has something to do with something with the default Samsung Messages app and it somehow restricting use outside of it.
I just wanted to reply and say that I've been experiencing the exact same issue and haven't had any luck Google engineering my way around it. For me, I'm seeing the issue with Signal, so I don't believe it's the 3rd party app's problem. I can send messages (SMS/MMS), but the Samsung Messages app is the only one that "receives" them. A strange workaround I found was to download Android Messenger, set that as the default messaging app, then set Signal as the default messaging app again. This worked for a while, but I think the Samsung Messages app recently updated, and it broke this again until I repeated the above workaround.
It's annoying enough that, without a fix, I'll definitely be flashing a completely stripped ROM on this phone once we have the ability to do so to get away from all of the Samsung apps that I can't disable. And don't even get me started on Bixby...

I haven't had any issues with my At&t model...Been using Yaata since day one (about 2 months).
Also, there are some "package disabling" apps in the play store that will allow you to disable any app you want, you don't even need to be rooted. It cost me $1.99 (or around there), but was well worth it! You can even completely disable Bixby, so the button is even non-responsive.
Having the same issue and I may have fixed it. I logged completely out of Digits on the phone (settings/cloud accounts/multi line/hit the ... menu and choose log out.
I have this same issue. No matter which 3rd party SMS app I use I have missing text messages on the T-Mobile S8. Has anyone fixed this? It is driving me crazy. T-Mobile replaced my S8 and the new one does it (not as bad but it does it more than I'd like). How can I resolve this? My friend haf the same issue, he has an unlocked T-Mobile working on AT&T.
I don't use Digits or anything like that... any ideas?
hi guys
all you need to do
go to setings
device maintence
battery
scrool all the way down to unmonitored apps and add your 3rd party sms app
youre welcome
This still didn't work for me and I am having the same exact issues. I have tried installing 2 different 3rd party messaging (Textra and Mood) and both were not working properly. I can send messages out just fine but when I receive them they are delayed (like 5 minutes or longer). Sometimes, I don't get the messages at all. Of course, the Samsung Messaging app (which I hate) works just fine. I have even "Force Stopped" it! What to do?
go into the stock messaging app, and turn off advanced messaging
Has anyone found a solution? I've been using textra for years & suddenly in March I started having this problem but with sent messages. All incoming texts are displayed but my sent texts aren't. I did try the 2 suggestions above. On a note 8, Android 8.0.0,Samsung experience 9.0.
SOLVED. I had the same issues and found the solution. Before you install your 3rd party sms/MMS you need to disable the default messenger. I uninstalled signal, disabled the built-in messenger, reinstalled signal. Now I can receive texts. Also my phone is not a Samsung.

App battery optimization issue?

I'm trying to figure out if there is anything besides the normal intelligent control/optimize/don't optimize that could be affecting an app working in the background?
I use Google Messages on both my phone and PC (messages.google.com) to keep from having to pick up my phone a billion times a day. I had very few issues with my phone showing as "Connected" in the web app with my OP7P, but within a minute or two of locking my screen on the OP8P, the web app shows "connecting" and won't typical work again until I wake up my phone and open Messages (waking the phone alone isn't enough).
Messages is set to "Don't Optimize" in the app settings, just like it was on my OP7P. Is the 8P more aggressive about letting apps stay awake?
**EDIT**
Google Messages is the number one app under "detailed usage" at 11% for the day, so it's definitely not for lack of running. Maybe it it's just an issue with the app on this phone.
I'm using mine now, Mac though, but it works from home too.
Haven't changed any settings for battery optimization.
Forget computer on messages for web.
On phone, force close, clear data, uninstall app.
Reboot.
Reinstall app, reconnect to g messages via QR
Also im using the app not the web version, seems to work better.
