Charging speed - Samsung Galaxy S10 Real Life Review

Samsung S10 has 15W fast charging. Itseems that it can charge quickly than the previous version of s series.

It irks that adaptive fast charging remained unchanged from last year and hurts that faster 25W is exclusive to the 5G model .

Reg the new Wireless Charging 2.0.
Where can I get the Wireless charger in UK?
Cheers

I was told that the Galaxy S10 would be capable of 25 watt charging. The advertisement I watched said 0-50% in 30 minutes, and hell my Galaxy S9+ does that. I mean, if there is literally a 0% increase in charging speed I will be just fine. My battery lasts all day (I run medium power saver) and I just charge it at night when I am asleep. I have been as high as 40% charge when I hook it up and last night I was at like 13% and that is the lowest it has been ever, so I really do not feel this will be an issue.

Even the wireless has 12W that won't charge as fast than the 10W wall mount charger. It seems that, wireless will charger slower than the wall mount right?

Josh Quinonez, YouTuber, did a from 0% to 100% charge with the power pack that comes packaged with the phone. You can watch the video here:

you leave it plugged in at night?
I never do that. I usually charge to 85 to 90% and then unplug. I read an article a while ago that said never let your Lithium ion batter go below 20 or above 80 and you will get the good performance you get when it's new for longer.

You see I know how many Samsung fans there are out there but... failing to surpass the limits of 3 years ago and give us anything better than what we can expect from QC 2 while employing the latest latest in Snapdragon chipsets is clearly pathetic. People spending more than a grand deserve more. They are just holding back on implementing it for future phones requiring something to look forward to. All I'm saying is paying for the chipset and the flagship should win you the actual real-world benefits of something Qualcomm has put the road map since 2015. After all it was the taking point for years.

You are right, it has 15W charger BUT, if you charge via USB-PD charger, the device pulls 20W when the screen is off, and 10W if you use the device, I just tested that wuth Omnicharge battery with USB-PD so it should be about 30% faster when using USB-PD

Yes, this is what I metered with the external battery. What you need is 20W or above USB-PD compatible charger, for example from laptop or whatever other device you have that uses USB-PD charger. I have the Exynos version and the phone's adapter is no go, it is only 9V 1.67A...
The 5G version officially supports 25W as I recall but there is nothing mentioned about the 4G normal version

Huawei p20 lite fast charging is very bad only 16% charge is 35min
How can I fix?
Fast Charging is useless
Fast charging is a big joke on Huawei P20 Lite. The charger that comes with the box charges the phone by 30% in one hour. Would anything like changing the adapter work? Please help
You are right, the “quick charge” works as regular charge, I use to switch on “Ultra Battery” to save some time.
Hello.
The original charger which come with the phone really chanrges at 9V.
But the problem is that I have tested this phone with 3 other QC charges (Orico QSE-5U, Tronsmart TS-WC3PC, Tronsmart WC1T) and all of them charge the phone only with 5V 1A.
That is odd.
I get my phone from 20% to 100% in around one hour, like a QC 2.0 should.
Are you using your phone while charging?
Fast charger not provided in the box?

That explains it then...the ones included in the box in India (and probably the subcontinent) is only 5V/2A, we'll have to buy the fast charger additionally. I tried motorola's turbocharger but that didn't work.
Will try to find a huawei fast charger and update here.

Sorry but the charger from this phone has an output of either 5V/2A OR 9V/2A.
Lithium batteries have problems with constant current and voltage. So these chargers have different outputs from 10W to 18W.
But still, this doesn't address the problems you're having: why is your phone charging so slow?
Are you charging while using it?

That's what...so here's what's written on the charger provided in the box, verbatim: "OUTPUT:5V=2A". That's all...
So I checked the Huawei website for the charger, and there's this quick charger which says, "OUTPUT:5V=2A OR 9V=2A". This is what is needed. They've probably compromised on the charger here.
Nevertheless, I got a full charge in a little less than 2 hours with the 5V charger (keeping the phone in airplane mode), which I think is decent as it was the first time it was being charged.
I have ordered the Huawei quick charger and will let you guys know if it works!

It's simple: apparently there are some regions that are recieving an official Huawei charger of only 5V/2A (10W), while other regions (like mine, Europe) are recieving a Huawei charger that goes from between 5V/2A (10W) and 9V/2A (18W). What happens is that the charger you have won't charge your phone as fast as it should.
The solution i recommend is to buy an official charger from Huawei.
for me exactly one hour charges my phone from 15% to 70% using the original QC charger (5V-2A or 9V-2A), is that good or just acceptable ?

Nfc / call recording / fast charging

Does this model have NFC, Call Recording & Fast Charging
Probably No NFC
As evident from Redmi Note 5 Pro and also some reviews, this model probably won't be having NFC (3/4 GB ram versions).
No news of the 6 GB model yet!
It will not have NFC. 6 GB RAM variant will be launched later. The bundled charger is not a fast charger. It is a 2 A charger. It will charge the 5000mAh battery in about 2 hour 30 minutes. But the chipset supports Qualcomm quick charge, Quick Charge 4 to be exact.
Who needs NFC anyways.
The 10W charger charges the whole 5000mAH big battery in just 2hrs as tested and thats pretty cool.

No it doesn't have NFC, it's kind of absurd to wish for an NFC enabled device at this price range
As for quick or fast charging, The Zenfone Max Pro doesn't support any of them as yet. It has got a regular 5V/2A i.e. 10 watts. Fast charging is at least 15W.
Although the chipset supports Qualcomm fast charging, but it has been tested and it is revealed that the charging time doesn't get reduced.
It takes 2hrs or so for 100% charge, but obviously you should understand, that it has got a massive 5k mAh battery (phew!) SO even if it is not 100% charged, you can be assured that it will have suitable amount of charge in a limited time, in it to get you along.
Also, the almost stock Android and good chipset helps in keeping the battery usage optimized.

I wanted to confirm the configs of the charger, ofcourse all phones comes with their charger.
Can anyone confirm with the QC 2.0/3.0 with the USB power meter? If the voltage reading is around 9 Volt, it should be QC 2.0; while if it gradually increase/decrease around 5-9, it should be QC 3.0. So far, I have seen a lot of reviewers said that it support, but they only show the phone notification about the rapid charging. Some clearly said it support QC, but not which version. Why it took so long to just confirm it with a usb power meter? I wonder where the reviewers hide it. Or maybe they all waiting for the 30 April 2018 OTA update to enable the QC?
Asus spec stated 0-100% is 2 hours 42 minutes, which is obvious since default charger is only 5 volt 2 ampere. I am fine with it, but a lot of other forum users always ask about this in every other page. So I want to clarify it. I haven't buy the phone yet, since I am waiting for 6/64 GB version which supposed to be available at the beginning June 2018.

Still its fast after seeing the Backup juice.
As for lack of NFC is big disadvantage for me - once I started to use Google Pay (earlier Android Pay) with my credit card daily, I won't buy phone that lacks nfc support.
As for phone sold without charger - yes, there was at least one I know - Moto G2 for sure haven't got charger bundled in the box.

Qc4.0 or qc3.0
Not sure how fast it charges but since I can never drain the battery completely in a single day (usually at 20-30% by the time I go to bed with heavy use), I turned off fast charging and charge the tablet while I sleep. It`s always fully charged by the time I wake up and hopefully turning off fast charging increases the longevity of the battery over the course of a few years.

Got same problem... Don't know why. Any sensor maybe?
I find I have to switch my Tab S4 OFF to charge otherwise it will take all day. Switch it off and it charges from empty in arouns 2.5 hours.
Personally I don't have QC enabled on any of my devices. I plan on buying the Korean 256/6GiB LTE version to replace my Note 8 in the next 2 months for visual/screen usage reasons. Since I don't believe in letting the battery drain below 30% (it's better for devices), I will be charging it normally without QC to see how it fairs. Typically devices are shipped from factory anywhere from 50~80% charge state.
Though not to mention that having a "to spec" charger and USB-C cable is important for proper QC function if you're using that.

Great charging speed 10 to 95% in about 1hr 35 mins
Good charging speed... Wouldn't say excellent though
Did 2 cycles of charging from 0 to 100 %. Once when switched off and second time in switched on state. Takes 1 hour 50 minutes when charging in switched off state and takes 2 hours when charging in "on" state with wifi on. 0 to 65% in approx 60 minutes.
Fast charging..
Charging is really fast till 80% of charge , like 12% to 80% in 58 minutes when the device is switched on. to get to 100% it takes a while as the charging speed speed decreases till it fully charged up.
Is there any drawbacks in charging full, like from 5% to 100% and keeping it on charger overnight?
If you slide up on screen, when on charger, it has some recommendation that it is better to charge like from 20% to 80 or 90%, than to keep it overnight.

https://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/how_to_prolong_lithium_based_batteries
basically, the longer you want to keep your battery capacity, you shouldn't be charging it to full all the time, maybe up to 70-80% and not letting it drop below 20%. if you are those people who switch phones regularly this shouldn't be an issue, but if you are looking to keep using your phone for at least 2-3 years then you can consider prolonging your battery life with this method. accubattery is a good app to track this, and if you're rooted, battery charge limit is another app to limit your battery charge up to a certain percentage so you won't accidentally miss your targeted charge.
nice, I enabled fast charge via magisk and I'm charging with a motorola turbo charge 15
Have anyone tried different QC3 certified charger rather than Poco F1 stock one? Or if anyone have tested it with QC4 certified charger because I heard that Poco F1 is QC4 certified.
How fast is qc3 on a 4k mah battery from 0 or 10% to 50? On a 3k mah battery I know it takes 30 mins or a little less
afaik it should support QC4,
@anon1135
i just checked amazon and most charging devices (qc3) are rated with 18w
I tried with my old charger LeEco X820 with QC3. It doesn't want to charge
im currently charging mine with a 28w pd/qc4 charger.
2816ma according to accubattery screen off.
2652ma screen on
but then it also says 72ma per minute

I'm using QC3 charger that came with my Zte Axon 7. it works very well, plus the Quick charge icon appears when i connect my F1 to it. so basically any QC3 charger will work.

Already posted link to charger on Amazon.
Don't do 0 to 100. Never let it go that flat

Agreed
I normally do 0 to 100 percent only rarely.
Most of the time it's from 10 or 20 percent

So can you tell us what's the charging speed with this charger?
Sent from my beryllium using XDA Labs
I've just received my pocophone f1 with 57% battery charge. It has taken about 15 minutes to charge to 90% and another 15-20 minutes to charge to 100%.
10-96% in 1:40min superrrrb

warp charge for regular 6t?

Will the new warp charge be supported on the regular 6t?
It's mostly different hardware and battery type I would think and already stated wont work with previous models.

I thought 6t already full charges in 30mins, not sure how much time warp is really saving? Some websites says 50% in 20mins, which is not true since 6T charges fully in about 30mins.

Looks like you save 10mins with warp charge.
Unmatched speed is at the heart of the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition, with new technology including Warp Charge 30, OnePlus’ new charging standard. Warp Charge 30 takes fast charging to new heights and never leaves people waiting, offering a day’s power in just 20 minutes. Thanks to the new charger and battery design, as well as a finely tuned power management system, power flows to the handset without slowing down even when the device is being used, or generating excessive heat.

According to OnePlus, the 6T charges from 0-60% in 35 minutes. Charging from 0-100% in my experience has been ~80-90 minutes IIRC. Not sure how you're getting a full charge in 30 minutes but if you'd like to share, I'm sure many of us would be grateful.
UPDATE: Make sure to notice the distinction between "full charge" and "a day's charge" in the marketing materials.
Ah thought it was full in 30mins, need to check again when empty

So hey all, given the lawsuit mess and all of that with OnePlus, what is the charging technology called for the regular 6t? Is it dash? Is it warp? Is it just generically called fast charge? Thought this was a fitting place to ask as to not make a whole new thread for a question like this one.

Dash Charge= Warp Charge=Vooc Charge
i.e.-calling it Warp is the agreement post law suit.
Warp 30= new slightly faster version of Warp which is only on Mclaren Special edition OP6T.

Alright thanks! So then my normal 6t technically uses warp charge. I knew that they're the very same technology as dash and vooc in China, just wondering how they figured the "correct" name in the states lol thanks again!
Testing results:
Phones were tested from 0% battery to 100%
OnePlus 6t with warp charger & cable: 91 minutes
McClaren Op6t with dash (fast) charger & cable: 78 minutes
Not my source, actual video testing here:
https://youtu.be/PMaPsIOqJvU
For xda testing look here:
https://www.xda-developers.com/onep...arp-charge-30-speed-thermal-performance-test/
The oppo find x was also included in the test using the vooc charger, it beat out both oneplus chargers, charging from 0% to 100% on only 32 minutes.
Confirmed

it actually works. Check out Dave lee on youtube, he does a test on it. Everyone else in this thread will just give you damned speculations and lame ass opinions. I like people who can prove things by actually testing things.
So not much of a difference when charging to 100%.
No there's a huge difference...they're using the slower Dash charger with the new Mclaren just to see how fast it charges on it. The correct charger for it is the warp charger and it'll charge it about twice as quickly.

That's the second test you're talking about. The first test shows that warp is of course faster until about 60% and then it's slowing down so that both phones reach 100% pretty much after the same time.
Both phones with their own chargers
Phones with changed chargers
