Overall speed - Samsung Galaxy S10 Real Life Review

Would you say that the Samsung Galaxy S10 is "fast" in day-to-day use? A higher rating indicates that you think the Samsung Galaxy S10 exhibits fantastic performance. Like, is it as fast as your tears when you watch The Titanic?
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

As per the leaks, S10 plus will have 12GB of ram. Multitasking is much easier than the previous versions. And it has exynos 9820 octa a powerful chip.

Lol you were in another thread stating that the s10+ will have 10gb of ram. Which is it...10 or 12?
After re-reading that post I stand corrected you did say 12gb in the other post. My bad.
Sent from my SM-G965U1 using Tapatalk

There will be different iterations, with 6, 8 and 12 gb's of ram. There will be three regular versions of it, and one 5g version.

All 3 variants are responsive, smooth, or your preferred adjective. Didn't encounter any performance hiccups - not that that's surprising. This IS the 855 after all. 835 is still speedy, so wouldn't expect anything less of their latest chip.

What I have seen says either 10 or 12 GB RAM. Also, from what I have read, there is a version with a Snapdragon 855 processor in it, which is what I will be getting along with the one that has 12GB of RAM.
Edit: Also as is well known, phones can be made faster by turning off animations and transitions and other aesthetic things added in just to make the front end look pretty. For max speed I suggest Nova Launcher.

US/CAN receive Snapdragon variants, whereas Europe gets the Exynos model. This has been the case for a while.
You should stick to the one from your region, however, for the sake of warranty and repairs. For example, Samsung UK won't honor a warranty for a US model (and vice versa).

Exynos 9820 very impressive speed.

Exynos version is not for gaming at all.
Coming from a OnePlus 5, this thing is a major downgrade.

Your Thoughts on Idol 3 5.5" Octo-core Processor

I bought the Idol 3 4.7" because I wanted the smaller form factor, but I returned it because the Snapdragon 410 is just not strong enough for me. Multi-tasking between even basic apps like email and calendar would stutter and drop framerate and that's kind of a dealbreaker for me.
I'm thinking about trying the 5.5" but I'm afraid the octo-core isn't isn't gonna be much faster since its clock speed is only 300mhz higher than the Snapdragon 410.
So Idol 3 5.5" owners, are you satisfied with the 8 core processor? Is there any noticeable framerate drop or stuttering switching between apps, and if so, which apps stutter the worst?

My experience (own 4 idol 3s - each given to different family members and I once in a while "test" them out) if you are going to have low/moderate apps and background noise then is fine and smooth. If your going to load that thing up (like me) you will see micro lags.

Hopefully once we have some custom rom's or more importantly some custom kernels we will be able to adjust the speed up to the rated 1.7ghz and try some schedulers/io schedulers we don't have now so performance will pick up some.

After the last update I haven't anything but positive things about the 5.5's performance. So in total two updates now.

Update UD71 10 06 fixed the sluggishness of the phone (before that I was on the brink of selling it)
It went from 5/10 to 8/10 in my personal rating and would suggest the phone.
I had a s6 edge and I'd say the speed difference between the two was negligible and the Samsung is 3x more expensive
The speed of the cores is not the issue, its the weak GPU that makes it lag. Navigation around the UI is tolerable but trying to game on anything but casual titles has frame drops. I kept my i3 over Zen 2 for the simple fact the speakers blow anything out of the water and it does everything else "competently".
I'm pretty much satisfied with the Snapdragon 615, coming from a chinese phone with 1 GB RAM and an MT6582 chip (also from a Nexus 7 2012). I find everything extremely smooth.
I haven't rooted it yet, No TWRP recovery, I just have whatsapp and telegram installed, for everything else I use Chrome. Games are pretty smooth to me, even the DS Emulator.
What I find lackluster is camera performance, too much noise even on good light conditions. Maybe it's the stock camera's fault.

This phone is the fastest experience that Android offers. Period! This is not only because the Snapdragon 835, 8GB of 1866MHz DDR4 RAM and fast read/write speeds to the 64GB storage. It's also because of perception. Since the display can refresh at 120Hz it just feels like it has more processing power than the other SD835 based phones out there. It will still seem faster than the SD845 when released so it will be my main phone for longer than the OnePlus 5 was.
Fastest phone I've ever used. Faster than the s8 I had too which is based on the same soc.
I have yet to run into a single slow down on the phone. Everything loads and runs quickly. App swapping is near instantaneous. Boot times are quick, especially considering it isn't currently running Oreo.
Lightning fast! But I have to say, I'm coming from a Nexus 5 and a Wileyfox Swift 2X. Anything is fast after that
Fastest phone I ever owned.
Blazing fast! Especially with the 120Hz screen

Yes.Would love to see some comparisons for this.I hear the sd 660 is as fast as the sd 820 from a few years ago.
Phones generally are too fast Nowadays anyway so Im fine with the speed of the sd 660 on paper.Should be fine for day to day tasks

Im actually looking to swap my op3 too.I think performamce will be the same, but not much better. Im probably gonna keep an eye on the op6 to see what price that is before committing to anything. The main advantage to the 7+ is Android One and fast updates.I hear the camera is better than the 5t also.
One thing Im not quite happy with about the 7+ us its design .Its fairly beefy and the nokia branding looks tacky on the front. The op3 is definitely a cooler phone, though I do like the bigger batery on tbe 7+

Actually you're both wrong in a good way
The CPU of the Snapdragon 660 SoC is within 5-10% of the Snapdragon 835 depending on the benchmark you run. This can be attributed to the 10% or so lower clockspeed of the big cores.
The GPU is a lot slower than the 835 monster of a chip but it's still the same as a 821 GPU. So yes, it is actually faster in the SoC department. The nand flash will probably be a little bit slower than that of the OP3 but that shouldn't affect you too much.
It's a very good phone and you'll enjoy the experience since the 8.1 firmware they have fixed all the little bugs.
The camera is also very good, especially in daylight. Please note that the OP3 has Optical image stabilization and that maybe you'll miss the AMOLED screen.
But it is a really good phone. And else the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus is also the same size and a very good phone with an amazing battery life. The screens are comparable but the Nokia seems to have a little more staurated colours. Brightness is almost the same in auto mode.
The Xiaomi has a bigger battery and lasts much longer but is lighter and feels like a tank. If you're handy flash a stock ROM and it's almost the same experience as the Nokia.
N7+ speed
Antutu Benchmark gives 140000+ overall score, ranks 38 in all phones..

Snapdragon 660 has Adreno 512 GPU, while Snapdragon 821 has Adreno 530. 530 is almost twice as fast.
Coming from OnePlus One, the Nokia 7 Plus does feel a bit snappier. But sometimes I feel that the firmware is still not fully optimized, switching recent apps feels a bit slower and not fluid. However from what I saw in videos showing Android P on Nokia 7 Plus it does look smoother than current Oreo 8.1.
Tl;dr it is snappier than my OnePlus One but not really snappy. Might be fixed in future updates.

You may be able to grab a free google home mini (if it's available) until late June if you want to bite the bullet
Micro Bumping. I'm not noticing any lag on this phone (some games do but I blame the game). The phone is super snappy and fast, and is perhaps the fastest phone I've used. I put this down to the stock android as well, because other phones using "Custom Android" almost never run as good as Stock. The Antutu benchmarks mean nothing, it's a phone. As long as it works without lag, it works fine.
Day To Day use : Absolutely amazing. No lag with fingerprint, and the apps load without issues
I have purchased TA - 1062 variant and in terms of speed there is nothing I can be unhapy about. everything is smooth and fast. I have even compared 7+ with some SD835 devices and I was unable to notice any differences. Some sites were loaded faster with 7+ some with others and so were the apps.
This phone feels like Android Go brick. I expected far more for the price.
This device is amazing. It's fast, smooth and reliable.

Q1 2019 I hope ...
The only new specs we can be reasonably sure of are that it'll have a separate modem chip, multiple large antenna modules, shorter battery life, and a weak (if any) 5G signal inside buildings.

The processor will consume less, but overall I suspect it'll be significantly shorter because of the extra 5G hardware required, it may also possibly be a smaller battery to accommodate the 5G space requirements.
Besides the guess 5G will consume more power.
I am not completely in the picture what else will be possible with 5G.
Can I use it for something like "near communication" (saw a video by xiaomi connecting with a vacuum robot)?
And even more important!
The 5G standard will maybe finalized in 2019 or 2020 ...
How likely is it I only get rudimentary support for the "final commercial 5G network"?
Also read somewhere the battery will be upgraded since the cnc parts have bigger recess... But can't find my source right now ...
Edit: I also read the mix 3 only features 3200mAh? ... Instead of 4000mAh?
Thought I'd give y'all my wishlist of what specs get bumped with the 5G version:-
UFS 3.0
Battery bumped up to at least 3,500mah
8gb RAM as the base version, no 6gb
USB 3.1 if not already with the Mix 3
(GSMArena reports the current Mix 3 as 1.0 not sure how accurate that is)
Stereo speakers would be nice to add the the immersion of a full screen display
However, as I said the above is just a wishlist unfortunately & I do believe it's very possible we'll get the Snapdragon 855 & that's it.
Going to wait and see if the sd855 is worth the extra price increase, otherwise ill just buy the sd845 version which will probably be on sale at that point

There was an article from someone saying that the SD855 chips are so much more expensive that the Galaxy S10 is expected to be 1200 retail for the base model. If that's the case, I would expect the 5G Mix 3 model to be almost 900 for an 8/256 model.
I assume this is the "around about" score we'll see from Xiaomi's equipped with the 855

However we all know benchmarks don't translate into real word usage so.

I read the TB version may have 12 gigs of ram on the 5G version. The regular 128 will have 6 and the 512 will have 8 and maybe the 1TB 10 on the 10 plus. Guess will find out soon!

I think I may get the 8 Gig 512 one. I have 64 now on my 9 plus so 128 is plenty but I also have 6 ram now and would like more 8 sounds good LOL! Is the battery the same on all 3 versions of the 10 plus? I know the show is Wed at 11am in California which will be 2pm my time. I work 2:30-11 so I won't get to watch but 30 minutes of it will they be showing it to watch after like a repeat?
I'll be getting the 8gb / 512gb 10+ model. This will be a step up from my Note 9 6/128... ??
1 terabyte and 12 GB is too much... I will probably go for the 8GB and 512gb :fingers-crossed:

Turns out all 1tb versions are gonna come with 12gb ram. Think this is going to effect battery life? Maybe better to get 128 in the better colors and use an SD card?
I'm getting the 8 gig 128 so glad it's 8 gigs Just need to pick out a color and decide whether to trust Samsung trade in or go with Best Buy their doing 550 also and I have a 50 dollar gift card to Best Buy and their unlocked is 949 if you activate it that day.
From what I've seen ONLY 12GB RAM in 1TB version and thosee are only ceramic as well.
The S10 & S10+ can keep a range of apps in memory. I didn't try a multitasking test on the 10e, though I can say the other models deserve high marks.

It's nice that a 12/1tb is there as an option, however at £1400 I have to pass, plus that's not available on Contract
The 8/512 will suite me fine until the Note 10 drops

I ended up getting the 128 version instead of the 512, $250 extra was a lot for me. I ended up also getting the $50 discount because of the reservation. Furthermore I'm also getting a free memory card (because of the reservation) and Galaxy buds +student discount.
