Can't wait till it actually comes out.

It has 12 GB of ram in S10 plus, Multitasking and while scrolling is smooth as butter. Expecting there are no more lags in this S series.

Is it the official news or just rumour that it has 12GB RAM?

I read the TB version may have 12 gigs of ram on the 5G version. The regular 128 will have 6 and the 512 will have 8 and maybe the 1TB 10 on the 10 plus. Guess will find out soon!

how do i rate the thread?

Nothing is official till now, All are rumors. Samsung didn't confirmed anything officially. But there is a rumor that 1TB version of S10 plus will have 12gigs of ram.

I think I may get the 8 Gig 512 one. I have 64 now on my 9 plus so 128 is plenty but I also have 6 ram now and would like more 8 sounds good LOL! Is the battery the same on all 3 versions of the 10 plus? I know the show is Wed at 11am in California which will be 2pm my time. I work 2:30-11 so I won't get to watch but 30 minutes of it will they be showing it to watch after like a repeat?

I'll be getting the 8gb / 512gb 10+ model. This will be a step up from my Note 9 6/128... ??

1 terabyte and 12 GB is too much... I will probably go for the 8GB and 512gb :fingers-crossed:

Turns out all 1tb versions are gonna come with 12gb ram. Think this is going to effect battery life? Maybe better to get 128 in the better colors and use an SD card?

I'm getting the 8 gig 128 so glad it's 8 gigs Just need to pick out a color and decide whether to trust Samsung trade in or go with Best Buy their doing 550 also and I have a 50 dollar gift card to Best Buy and their unlocked is 949 if you activate it that day.

From what I've seen ONLY 12GB RAM in 1TB version and thosee are only ceramic as well.

The S10 & S10+ can keep a range of apps in memory. I didn't try a multitasking test on the 10e, though I can say the other models deserve high marks.

That’s the one i went with.

It's nice that a 12/1tb is there as an option, however at £1400 I have to pass, plus that's not available on Contract
The 8/512 will suite me fine until the Note 10 drops

I ended up getting the 128 version instead of the 512, $250 extra was a lot for me. I ended up also getting the $50 discount because of the reservation. Furthermore I'm also getting a free memory card (because of the reservation) and Galaxy buds +student discount.

Have to say 4gb Ram is NOT enough!

I've owned the One Plus 5 the 8gb sys ram version and apps stay in memory for super quick access, the apps on my S8 plus constantly close and have to reload them back in memory, yes I've disabled close apps when idle, this phone is still randomly closing apps when it runs out of memory, whoever says a phone does not need more than 4gm ram is wrong, try the OP5.
4gb is not enough because of touchwiz ui. Oneplus has no skin. Its near stock ui. Thats why oneplus os takes less ram than touchwiz os.

No, it has 1.5x to 2x the ram, that's why ...
Samsung galaxy S8/8+ = 4gb RAM, Oneplus5 = 6gb/8gb RAM.
Not too hard to see why it handles apps better...
Touchwiz probably doesn't help any but the extra RAM is the real reason...
Why do you think the Note 8 comes with 6gb RAM?

And the fact it has twice the amount of ram helps also, was waiting for the pixel 2 but if they're are only going to use 4gm ram i'm not bothering.

Yep I agree, i'm really disappointed Samsung only used 4gb, I've just had to reload the android messages app twice in the last 10 mins! this did not happen on my mate 9 or the OP5, it's actually getting tiresome now seeing all the social apps have to reload back into ram, I really do miss the OP5 for that, I've turned off all closing apps when they are inactive for useless crap but still basic stuff is still closing down, play store, email, Instagram, android messages etc.
There is an option to lock apps to RAM if you dont want it having closed.

That's a hell lot of phones you used buddy!
Btw, what made you buy S8+ after OP5?
Lock apps is a good option as the basic tw settings don't allow lots of apps to be in RAM. That's why the idle battery life is the best on S series.

The OP5 had all sorts of issues, the main 1 for me was the jelly scrolling and camera not that great, but my mate 9 broke otherwise i was waiting for the pixel 2 which i may still get yet depending on how much they put in it, if it's like the rumours say 4gb then I'm not buying anything again unless it a minimum of 6gb ram, these social apps chew ram up and 4gb these days is useless!

LOL, only 2 phones. In the last 6 - 12 months I have bought -
1. Axon 7 - 6gb ram 128gb rom - great phone but took too long to unlock and I got bored with it.
2. ASUS Zenfone 3 Deluxe - 6gb ram 256gb rom - brilliant hardware, stock rom OK but a few bugs - unfortunately ASUS didn't release unlock tool until too late killing off developement.
3. Nokia 6 - 4gb ram 64gb rom - OK for a budget phone but again no bootloader unlock.... Bored now, NEXT...
4. One+5 - 8gb ram 128gb rom - really like it but running out of storage- at least the others I can put in an sd card...
5. Samsung Galaxy S8+ -4gb ram 64gb rom - got a bit cheaper so was in, still exploring stock rom so not rooted yet.
6. Samsung Galaxy Note 8 - 6gb ram 64gb rom - on pre-order... Awaiting judgement. Unfortunately living here in Oz it looks like I won't be getting my shiny new toy until mid October... Got grey import (love the description that it's Oz stock but then these things tend to come with an overseas plug with a cheap sh!tty plug adaptor) but it was approx. $300Aud cheaper than the ones avalable in shops here...
Also waiting for my Jellyphone pro, a really small android phone I got on Indigogo... So sue me, I'm a sucker for computers and phones....
Out of all these phones the Galaxy S8+ is pretty laggy in comparison, even the Nokia 6 is pretty decent in comparison. Hopefully the Note 8 is a bit faster and the extra RAM will push it back onto the top of the heap...
4gb is useless? Lol. Ok... Whatever you say...
Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
Yeah, I'm not really getting this assertion either. RAM is really only one component that would impact lag. The first of which would be the kernel and how CPU governor settings are applied. I consider myself a fairly heavy user, and I'm not at all upset by the response time of this phone.
Yes 4gb ram is not enough for the advancing technology of smartphones. 6gb or more is recommended.

Nope, only if you get carrier specific phones will they be (sometimes) locked. Generally this is for cheap prepaid plan phones....
And the Aus dollar isn't cheaper... That's why we have grey imports....
Did anyone who has his phone rooted, try SWAP memory? Making a 2gb partition on the internal storage or even a good quality SD card.
I remember this was a thing few years ago, but everybody just forgot about it.
I agree that 4gb is not enough. Really notice the phone e slows down when downloading in the background

Im fine, everything runs smooth. You prolly have to be a heavy user.
Who ever asked why Note8 has 6gb, thats an odd question to ask. After the last years N7 i dont think they wanted to take any chance and tried their best to give as much as they could. Although i still passed on it, 1500$ no thank you. Id rather walk around with my laptop.

6Gb or 8Gb? Which and why?

Are you choosing the 6gb version or the 8gb version? Why? Any comparisons, reviews, or compelling reasons?
I purchased the 8Gb version this morning, just because. Only $50.00 and 2Gb extra couldn't hurt.
I fully believe the 6gb would have been perfect, but at the cost difference, spread over length of time I will own the phone, why cheap out. So I went 8gb.
6GB ram/128gb storage. I honestly believe any more than 6gb ram at this time is a waste.
I was watching a comparison of the 6gb and 8gb version againts the Huwei Mate 20 Pro and the honestly in everyday applications you wouldn't be able to ABSOLUTELY see the difference....I went with the Tmo version and have been playing with all morning and this thing is FAST!!
6GB.
8GB model is only useful for those who want the midnight black model. The actual increase of 2GB is completely pointless and will never be used by the OS unless you plan on playing Pokemon GO, PUBG, Fortnite, simultaneously whilst also navigating in Google Maps with 50 Chrome tabs open.
I just wanted Midnight Black so I went 8/128. The 8gb of ram is probably over kill for android. I do not need 256.

Comparisons?
8 is more than 6
Since the 256GB version only comes with 8GB RAM.
Yep, I bought the storage, not the RAM, when I went 256.

1+6T - is 8GB RAM worth it?

Pretty much said it all in the title.... pretty much ready to pull the trigger on a 1+6T. The 128GB storage is fine for me but undecided on the 6 or 8GB RAM. Its not much difference in cost but will I notice any difference?
Personally I think that if the price difference doesn't matter to you then the 8GB version is worth the small difference. I had the 8GB version of the 5T and now I have the 8GB version of the 6T and absolutely love the extra ram.
It definitely can't hurt. Small price to pay in my opinion.
Midnight Blackk is worth it? Got mine this morning, with 8GB. Basicly only because I didn't like the fingerprint magnet which is the Mirror Black
I had an 8 gig op5, and a 6 gig op5t. There was no noticeable difference in performance since I never reached 6 GB of RAM usage let alone 8GB. If you don't mind spending the extra money, then sure 8 gigs is fine. But honestly you won't notice a difference in performance under normal and even somewhat heavy usage. You only notice the difference if you have several power-hungry apps open at the same time. Myself, I'm kind of OCD about closing out apps I'm not using to save battery life so obviously it doesn't affect me one way or the other.
for the money i will do every time. got to get the 8 gb 6t to go with my note 9 8gb lol it stores everything in ram though, so nice!
Well my device is averaging 4.2 gbs memory used, so I'm glad I got the 8.

Unused Ram is wasted Ram. Unless you're hitting the 6 GB usage mark , you're still not going to notice a difference between 6 gig and 8 gig.

not true
I've used both, and there is very minor day-to-day difference. Unless you have a lot of dough, save some money and get the 6GB
For the extra $30? Absolutely! Even if you don't use it now it is still good to have in the future as the os and apps tend to use more as they get updated and become more complex.
If you get 256 gigs of storage they throw it in for free.

This. I wanted the 256GB version so, 8GB is standard.
I think the extra money is worth the 8gb but if your wanting more storage like me the 256GB version has 8gb and no 6gb, that's what I've ordered today.

With RAM file caching used in OP6/OP6T, you'll notice the difference. Unused RAM isn't unused, it's used as a cache.
Personally for me, it's not about the RAM. Yes the extra 2 gigs is nice, but in all reality, it'll probably never get used.
What swayed me to pay the extra $30 was the midnight black. After the extra bump in price, you get the choice between the 2 blacks, and the extra RAM.
Seemed like a fair deal to me, even though it'll stay in a case it's whole life :silly:

New galaxy s10 plus help needed..

So I recently bought a new s10 plus but I made a post about it already but I haven't received the phone so I didn't know anything about it, today I received the phone and checked the ram and its only 8GB is this normal or is it suppose to be like 12 or 10 GB ram? (my phone is 12 GB ram and 1 TB variant). Also, is the screen supposed to flicker a lot when it opens up the camera because mine do?
Download Device Info HW from the play.store and check the specs
Anything more than 6 gigs of RAM on an Android phone is nothing but a marketing gimmick. The vast majority of people don't need more than 6 gigs of RAM on a laptop--according to Microsoft the minimum RAM requirement to run Windows 10 is 1GB which is stretching it but 6GB is more than enough to provide an extremely smooth experience for anyone who isn't a power user. With that in mind what practical purpose could having 8GB or 12GB of RAM on an Android phone possibly serve?
The expanding RAM numbers were a gimmick to convince the gullible that they needed to purchase expensive new phones--these are the same kind of people who don't question why they need a higher resolution display on a phone with a 10" display than on a 55" television screen.
Now that more RAM and higher resolution are the norm the latest gimmick is smartphone displays with higher refresh rates. Most people won't actually be able to see any difference but that hardly matters if it sells phones.

It is possible the wrong product got delivered to you, If your order correctly states that your device should be a 12 GB variant, you need to do a RMA.
Just to be sure update your device, for checking your RAM, go to settings -> Device Care -> Memory. At the top it should list, there should a be a bar and just under it your used memory/total memory.
For checking storage, go to settings -> Device Care -> Storage. At the top it should list, there should a be a bar and just under it your used storage/total storage.
If either of these don't match your order, please check with the seller, you should only get what you paid for.
As for the screen flicker, it really shouldn't happen, on my device opening the camera app is a rather smooth animation.

Hi sir, I wasn't very clear , sorry.. i currently have 8.5 GB ram available with no apps opened and seller confirmed it was original although I am still afraid coz I bought it not from official shop. In us dollar it's about 800 usd but in my country it's Rm 3000.. I am not sure its suppose to have 12 GB of ram if I have no apps opened or is it normal to have 8.5 gb of ram bcoz it might eat some ram for the system to run so I opened this thread.
Android is designed to fill most of the RAM at all times. In simple terms, empty RAM is wasted RAM.
As you start using apps, Android will keep your most commonly used apps in RAM, so that they launch quickly each timeyou open them or switch between them.
