Root / TWRP / Fast Custom Android 7 rom - Verizon Motorola Droid Turbo General

Hey, long time no see... I had to sell my xperia z3 last night, so I bought this XT1254 Droid Turbo.... Which is on MCG24.25-5-5 Build.... Android version 6.0.1 Security Patch level January 1, 2017....
I searched around here and found some complex methods for twrp and root, so I thought about posting here... I already did root Z3 unlocked it's bootloader and stuf..
So Is there any less complex method for these things? I don't wanna unlock bootloader for camera quality sake but I'd only like to know about rooting, twrp and a fast android 7 custom rom which is fast / battery saver, supports xposed etc if possible.. (Links would be useful, if someone can) So... Please point me in the right direction..
Else i'm staying stock. Thank you very much in advance.

Anyone???

Upgrading Nexus 10 running Lollipop

This is my first post, hope you can help me :- Hope its in the right place
I have just acquired a nice nexus 10 and managed to upgrade it to android to 5.1.1.
I am a complete novice when it comes to anything to do with rooting or custom ROMs and have always been scared to tackle anything like this, but it seems a pity that I am stuck with Lollipop when my phone is showing me the benefits of the latest nougat upgrade.
So do I chicken out again or do I ask for advice from the experts in this forum to hold my hand while i upgrade to nougat ?
I see a post by Trafalgar Square "how to install android 6.0.1 marshmallow" and although I don't understand much ( at the moment ) about what the developer is telling me to do I think that if i could have my hand held with a similar GUIDE for Nougat then I think i would have the guts to have a go. I see a posts by Sooti who is advocating using AOSP [7.1.1_r4] ( Again I am unsure what he is telling me to do ) and without an absolute basic guide I dare not consider that.
So what do your experts recommend that I do ? Can I be helped ? or must I allow the general fear of "bricking" my device to stop me again as it always did before .
Must I be so afraid of bricking it or could I be helped to recover from a bricked device should the worst happen ?
Download the Nexus Root Toolkit by wugfresh. It makes rooting and flashing custom ROMs as well as custom recovery a breeze! Plus if you brick it, it's most likely going to be a soft brick (bootloop) and the Nexus Root Toolkit will easily fix it. (Trust me, I've been there a few times.)
If you'd like Android Marshmallow, I might recommend OmniROM, unless Lineage has fixed the battery drain issue. (CyanogenMod 13 was terrible on battery.)
Lineage 14 can be found around here which is based on Android Nougat. It's supposedly really fast and battery efficient. Though it has some bugs, most notably the camera is disabled because the camera server keeps crashing and kills the battery otherwise from what I understand. So if you don't care about a camera, Nougat is available, otherwise stick with Marshmallow.
Since I use my Nexus 10 for Skyping on occasion, I'm stuck with Marshmallow. If Lineage 13 has fixed the battery drain issues, I'd definitely be interested to know.
Thank You Rochester. As I type this post I have followed your recommendations and managed to root the nexus and installed busybox. I will now follow the next section and decide whether to choose nougat

Aye, no problem! I'm glad I could help, and welcome to the forums!
AgentOrange96,
I Chose the OmniROM route like you. Wugfresh has done a marvellous job with his Toolkit, and I will be saying thanks to him too !!!
I am all up and running now and my experiences with your forum has removed my fear of Custom ROM flashing and Rooting, so much so that my nexus 6P will be rooted and customised next.
Many thanks to you ( and Brandon your Chief Admin ) for welcoming me as a member !!!

General Questions about the P Smart from a Huawei Noobie ;) (serious)

Hi
I'm new to Huawei Devices and have a few questions about the P Smart because I want to get it soon.
Is it fully treble supported?
How to unlock its Bootloader?
If it's fully Treble supported can I install every treble ROM that supports that CPU family?
How is EMIUI?
What Custom ROMs do you guys/girls recommend (In this forum and treble forums)
What settings should I change EMEDIANTLY after getting my Device/EMIUI
Any Xposed/Magisk Modules recommended for this Phone.
SuperSU or Magisk for EMIUI Stock?
Thanks in advance

Hi lots of response from your questions I see! Lol. Are you still on psmart? Where have you got to with it?
My experience: MOS =ministry of solutions unlocked my bootloader, I paid 9£ for them to downgrade firmware and give me unlock bl code, I've been around for sometime but I struggle with fastboot, dev terminology and new devices esp Huawei!
I got twrp+magisk mostly for viper4. Although I'd like to use quick step and xposed although I'm reading people have probs with xposed and it's not compatible I might be reading old threads but I ain't willing to risk a brick. From what I see thus far there isn't much in the way of development and it seems like those using custom ROMs are desperate to get back to stock because it's so stable.
Be good to hear what progress you have made

well for the both of you xposed beta 4 test 1 that can be downloaded direcly installed from xposed gitbub works but not all the modules will work and some modules will bootloop and brick you
there are 0 P smart devs... there are devs like askuccio and hacky86 making treble GSI for our specific kirin soc hi6250 but not for P smart
the most stable custom roms are omnirom and RR and lineage 15 maintained by
https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/development/roms-openkirin-aosp-collection-t3828806
project openkirin... they are stable.. but the camera doesnt have AR althought it is stock camera.. wifi bridge and app twin won't work and other small bugs like i cant use the camerra to scan barcodes to make payments in my banking app.. the rest of the p smart threads are dead.. global search in xda for openkirin, kirin659 , hurupdater, hi6250.. cos our only custom roms are treble GSI's

How can I use custom rom?

Hi there, I haven't done any rooting or unlocking boooaders or installing custom roms for years now. I just went and got my self a axon (had one when it first came out too.). Loved it and got a another one.
I want to have some fun. I need to know the following:
How could I unlock the bootloader
I need to install custom recovery
I want to overclock gpu and if possible the cpu
As I can see there are 3 versions of this phone, my device is as follows:
A2017G 64gb 4Gb ram
Build: A2017GV1.2.0B12
Android 7.1.1
Kernal 3.18.31
Security patch 1 July 2018
I would much appreciate it if I could get a full guide or different guides to complete my quest. I did see a few guides but they didn't state if it can work on my android version ect (didn't want to risk brick)
Thank you in advance

Need ideas for simple way to root phone and easy to use, stable mod

I'm not new to hacking android via rooting and installing mods via bootloader menu, just a bit rusty. Since I bought my S7 in 2016, it has remained with factory stock and hasn't been updated with any security patches since Oreo's update in 2018. Phone is dragging and battery life isn't the greatest. Can anyone give me some ideas as to the best bootloader for unlocking, and the best, simplistic interface mod that also has great battery life write-in? Need links for any downloads. Thanks!

Ordered OP8Pro, need helpful advice/guidelines

Hello XDA.
Ive spent a few hours now reading OP8P forums, and got some rough idea of what I'm getting my self into.
I bought a OP8P, its coming to me within next 10 days. I bought it brand new from T-Mobile in Croatia (Europe).
This is my first time owning a Oneplus, my current phone is Galaxy S7, before that i had an S5... On these two i got some experience with custom roms, rooting, flashing, twrp.... But i didnt do anything to my phone in the last 2 years, its been stagnant... and the knowledge i gained... well, if you don't use it, you lose it..
It always seemed that oneplus had great support in XDA community, but from all these threads I read in past few hours, i gathered some confusing conclusions.
What i expected when i made the purchase is that I would be able to have a stock up-to-date OxygenOS, with root (magisk), twrp, xposed, banking apps working, youtube vanced, photochrome camera...
But..... seems like i would have to go through a lot of trouble achieveing all of these things, deciding between OOS 10 vs 11, if they're even achievable with some of the knowledge i kept from my samsung days...
So here are a few questions i would like answers for...
1. When i get the phone and start it for the first time, am I going to be running OOS 10 until i manually upgrade?
2. Do you suggest I stay on OOS10 or upgrade to OOS11?
3. If i upgrade to OOS11, can I have any of the stuff i mentioned that i expected?
4. I saw some user saying if I decide to root, i should not be using modified/patched boot.img... Why is that? (btw i don't recall ever doing this back in day, would love some info about it...)
5. Is TWRP possible, whats the new META?
4. Is there anything else i should know before doing anything, also I wouldn't mind if you would explain all this to me like im five years old
Thanks in advance!
I'm a op8pro owner, and I have Magisk (22.0), and root without twrp (no recovery yet suported for android 11 on this device). You have to patch boot.img with Magisk. Not a big head ache.
Photocrom camera not working on 11 as before on android 10, and I tried two existing methods (it works, but no "X-ray" feature).
Since android 11 is in its stable release, new devices should come with it, but not sure.
All apps mentioned, Root and non Root are working just fine,
Thanks for replying.
Could you possibly link the guide which I should follow, and save me from something outdated, since I might not be rooting my OOS11 from inactive slot on OOS10
Thanks again!
