How can I use custom rom? - ZTE Axon 7 Questions & Answers

Hi there, I haven't done any rooting or unlocking boooaders or installing custom roms for years now. I just went and got my self a axon (had one when it first came out too.). Loved it and got a another one.
I want to have some fun. I need to know the following:
How could I unlock the bootloader
I need to install custom recovery
I want to overclock gpu and if possible the cpu
As I can see there are 3 versions of this phone, my device is as follows:
A2017G 64gb 4Gb ram
Build: A2017GV1.2.0B12
Android 7.1.1
Kernal 3.18.31
Security patch 1 July 2018
I would much appreciate it if I could get a full guide or different guides to complete my quest. I did see a few guides but they didn't state if it can work on my android version ect (didn't want to risk brick)
Thank you in advance

Need to downgrade the Os from 5.0 to 4.4

Hey there, I've recently bought a Nexus 7 with the latest os already installed on it, which has made it run slower with every passing day.
I did a bit of googling and found that a lot of people had issues with their Nexus 7s after they upgraded to the latest os.
So now I'm wanting to downgrade to the previous os and I read in an article on Androidcentral that said getting a custom rom would be the best way to go to (I'm guessing) either get a previous os or get a streamlined version of the one I already have.
So I need help finding the best rom for my purposes, I'm very new to this sort of thing, in terms of roms, flashing and downgrading os and such so any help would be greatly appreciated, as I'd love to be able to use this tablet St something other than the speed of smell lol.
@EddieHades welcome to the community. First of all it's always the best method using a custom ROM, but make sure you have unlocked bootloader. If you don't have unlock bootloader then you've to do it first, make sure you've backed up all your data. Second choice if you want to stick with stock rom. Then just go to this link and download your preffered stock ROM as per your device, make sure you've downloaded proper images. Then download Nexus Root Toolkit and flash that image and you're good to go.

Root / TWRP / Fast Custom Android 7 rom

Hey, long time no see... I had to sell my xperia z3 last night, so I bought this XT1254 Droid Turbo.... Which is on MCG24.25-5-5 Build.... Android version 6.0.1 Security Patch level January 1, 2017....
I searched around here and found some complex methods for twrp and root, so I thought about posting here... I already did root Z3 unlocked it's bootloader and stuf..
So Is there any less complex method for these things? I don't wanna unlock bootloader for camera quality sake but I'd only like to know about rooting, twrp and a fast android 7 custom rom which is fast / battery saver, supports xposed etc if possible.. (Links would be useful, if someone can) So... Please point me in the right direction..
Else i'm staying stock. Thank you very much in advance.
Anyone???

2 years, now i think i should root & use a custom rom...

Hello there friends
This is my first proper Indian phone, been using it since past 2 year, pure stock just the gcam.
I wish to root it now and use a custom rom.
Can you great guys point me to the latest unlocking and rooting procedure as i am on latest firmware now and not sure if older methods will work or not.
Secondly could you please point me yo a stable, custom rom that is very smooth to operate, battery efficient, without any bugs and can handle all banking apps and stuff.
I am okay if its Android 9 or 10 just a thoroughly stable rom.
Thank you in advance
Hello,
Just did it two days ago, follow this thread (and the linked thread when necessary, like the TWRP one) :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/as...w-to/discussion-unlocking-bootloader-t3786698
Three things to remember for the script to work :
1/ You need to enable USB debugging in developrs options
2/ You need to install the Windows drivers for your phone, that is, when connected through USB, you shouldn't see a yellow exclamation mark in your Windows Device Manager
3/ It doesn't work with Rizen CPU on USB 3.0 port
Once you know that it's pretty straightforward. Oh, one thing that happened to me right after unlocking bootloader is that it asked for password to access Data partition, I had to restart to recovery and wipe Data partition once more.
Don't forget to backup everything before starting, and have fun, this device has a lot of nice ROMs to try
Thanks mate
Can you confirm if b Kong apps re working fine upon unlock and root with the custom roms
That's my biggest concern now
I am ok with unlocking and rooting but bank apps not working owing to rooted device is my next biggest concern.

Followed this method on pie few months back and it works. Follow the instructions and you are good.
I've been using Pixel Experience Plus ROM as my daily driver for the past 3 months and I never look back to any other ROMs!
I'm using Havoc 2.9 Pie, Bootlegger rom is also a nice option, both of these roms provide multiple customizations.
Thanks a lot guys for the replies
Sorry got stuck with some stuff hence could thank you folks and couldnt even visits
If there are anymore newer roms then please do let me know
Thanks again
Just wanted to update
That more tha. 2 years after buying the m1 i have unlocked and installed a custom rom.
I can see encryption thing has come into play now and to root magisk is the drug of choice ?
So i have unlocked the bootloader flashed the twrp wiped all and now using PIXEL EXPERIENCE PLUS ROM but without root as i dont need root atm.
The rom is awesome prior to this i had flashed havoc but this is far better way too smooth utterly battery efficient and no issues whatsoever.
Need a couple of things sorted though
1 how to te remove that persistent search bar at the bottom without changing the launcher
2. How to remove the date and weather widget upto on home screen
Thanks

Modding P8 Lite (2015) in 2020 - question and advices

Hello! I've modded already some devices, but I never got in my hands a device that lived so long.
Since I cannot find any infos about using latest Magisk on a such old device and I don't want to mess it up, I wanted to ask here some questions.
First: generally, is ok to use a recent version of Magisk on every device, or there are some devices with some kind of differences that needs a "custom" or "specific" version of Magisk?
Second: is ok to use directly the Releases on https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/releases ? I saw that this is the only official way to get it and that magiskmanager is not a related site.
Third: any advices on modding the P8 Lite 2015?
Model runs MIUI 4.0.3 and it's on Android 6. It's the single-sim version.
I already have TWRP working and phone is factory-reset. Yes, I had access to my unlock code, so it was pretty painless to unlock it.
It needs to be fully functional, so I cannot use custom ROMs (it seems like all have problems with YouTube and/or Camera). If there are some advices here, I'm free to listen.
I was planning on installing Magisk (root, generally) to uninstall Huawei crap plus a better control over kernel, if there is any on this device.

MIUI 12 slow as ...

Hello everyone,
I have my redmi note 7 with which I've kept using MIUI since I bought it. But now the android system weights for 9 go. I think it is insane for a phone, correct me if I'm wrong.
The phone is slow and when I try to erase everything et reinstall it. The system is faster but the system is still heavy.
Do you think rooting it can help solve the issue ? Or may those 9 go of system be caused by some viruses ?
Thanksnin advance,

Unlock the bootloader and flash a customer without root. You have a big choice, the most one are very fast and stable
Thank you for your answer.
0) what is the weight of a normal custom system once installed ?
1) Do you mean to flash a rom and still using the original kernel ?
The last time I flashed a system, it was on a Galaxy S2.... Did the things changed ? At that time we had an important risk to brick the phone under gingerbread version of Android (that version had some kind of bug) .
2) Are the risks still high today ?
I looked a bit through the list or roms on xda and the lineageOS seems to come out as the lightest rom.
3) Is there a room that is more stable than the others ?
4) Is there a rom that is kept updated more than the others ?
5) What about the android security updates once a custom rom is installed ?
Sorry that is a lot of questions but I need an update since my galaxy S2
Thanks in advance,

First, when you unlock your bootloader your phone make a factory reset. Then you have the choice which ROM. lingeos, havoc, pixel os are stable and have the last security patch. Then you have the choice with or without gapps (Google apps). In every thread is a how to and the recommend gapps. Orange fox is a very good recovery. And brick risk is small. Sometimes I had a softbrick with testing around kernel and modules, but it easy to fix. Make a backup with the customer recovery before. The weight I don't know in the moment. My daughter change the pattern . In the forum is a old how to unlock and under development is the recovery. You will find it. Have fun

Thank you very much for your answer.
I'll post the comparison of the weight of the system once I'll have installed it.
