How to transfer Google apps/settings to new AT&T Note 4 from UK handset? - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've just bought a used Note 4 in the UK. It seems to be a US phone, as when setting it up I was not given the option of transferring settings, apps, etc from another of my Google devices. Instead, I was asked if I wanted to use the "AT&T Mobile Transfer" app to do the same thing. Since I'm based in the UK I'm unable install this app on my old phone (also a Note 4, but a UK handset).
I was also given the option to transfer settings using NFC (holding the phones back-to-back), but couldn't get it to work (having enabled NFC on my old phone).
Any idea how I can transfer apps and settings from my old UK handset to me new (apparently AT&T) handset? I intend to use the new handset in the UK.

Smart switch or samsung cloud backup also Google backup can help.

Thanks - I'll try Samsung Smart Switch (as the Google backup isn't being offered as an option when I set up the new phone).

How do google backups work with two phones on the same acct?

I have two phones using the same primary account. I have disabled the backup data to google option, because I don't want my app settings on both phones to be identical. Does anyone know if this backup feature is smart enough to keep the data from different phones separate? Or will my settings be overwritten with settings from the other phone for apps that back up to google?
I have the same account on 3 phones... MT4G, MT3G-Slide (backup phone) and a SamSux Behold 2 that I loaded with games and pulled the Dialer.apk and SMS/MMS.apk out so my 8yr old could have it (she calls it her "Android Touch because iPods suck") and Google backup only restores what was on each particular phone.
Example : I swapped out the ROMs on my MT3G-S today and when I logged into Google it only re-downloaded the apps that were on that phone before I wiped and installed new ROM, it did NOT include any of the apps or games I have on just the MT4G or just on the BH2.
EDIT : if you go to https://market.android.com/ after logging in with your account you will see "My Market Account" click that and on the left you'll see a tab labeled "Settings". when you click that you will see every android phone you have used that gmail account for.
I thought (possibly incorrectly) that "Back up data with my Google Account" only took effect when replacing your phone. For that reason I have it turned off on my 3 devices, but maybe I am being too cautious?

Question about Profiles/User Log-ins on GT 10.1

*Moved from the Samsung Galaxy Tab General forum*
I just purchased a GT 10.1 on yesterday and went through the usual routine of signing in with my Google credentials to set everything up (used for about 2 hours, then applied the Touchwiz update). I'm wondering, is there a way to set up "profiles" or 'users' on the Tab (similar to a Windows PC) that requires a passcode for specific Google accounts, but still allow anyone else to use the tab but not have access to my info? My concern is that all of my gmail, gv, fb, twitter ect data is accessible through the tablet apps since everything is already signed in/synced. Or is my only recourse to use an app that allows passcodes to be placed on individual apps (I'm currently using ZD Box to accomplish this on my N1). I searched the net and hadn't found anything that addressed my question.
that would be awesome. I wondered the same thing but couldn't find anything

Hi
Try Smart App Protector, I've tested and it worked ok, there is a free and paid version as well.
Cheers
Having the ability to have two user logins would be awesome, then I could let my wife/daughter use the tab also. Not that I have anything to hide but would just rather them not have full access to all my accounts.

Upgrading from Note 5 to Note 7 w/ Google Backup or Smart Switch?

When my order arrives I will be updating from a Sprint Note 5 to an AT&T Note 7. I see that the Note 7 supports a wired Samsung Smart Switch connection to the Note 5. Both phones will have SD cards.
Besides app data, I am really only concerned about things like home screen wallpaper, home screen layout and phone settings. All of my calendar, contacts and everything else is already in the cloud.
Which method is recommended when I first set up this phone? Should I use Smart Switch or should I let Google restore the Note 5 from the last back up? Which method gets me the most updated restored?
Or should I let Google do its thing when I first set it up and then run Smart Switch after that?
i used smart switch from my Note 4 to Note 7 and it worked great and did it wirelessly.
you have to install smart switch on the old phone and it's built in on the Note 7. on the
7 you have to search for it, there's not an app icon.
When did you do it in the initial turn on, activation and setup process of the phone? When you initially setup your Google account on the Note 7 did you tell it to set in up as a new device rather than to restore your Note 4 configuration?

i did the basic setup on the Note 7 and added my Google account first. when you run Smart Switch with both
phones connected it asks you to choose the sending phone and the receiving phone, then it lets you choose
what to migrate (apps, pics, files, docs, etc.)

App cannot be installed in my country???

Hi all,
I've recently bought this gorgeous Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, and I'm using it on O2 (UK), and I have a good mobile plan (with international calls) from my wife's contract, but I can't find the app Talk2Go in playstore. If I look after it on google, I can access playstore (for that app, apart that it's working fine) but I'm getting the message "This item cannot be installed in your device's country". The same message I'm getting by accessing playstore from PC. How can I install it from playstore (in order to get usually updates of the app)?
I have installed the apk (which isn't the latest build, but it's working fine) though from google, but, like I said, I want the playstore version.
Same issue with O2 app. I'm guessing there's an issue on my phone somewhere but I can't realize where?
check your software version, if the phone was manufactured or bought outside of the UK . It has the wrong software on it.
It recognizes playstore from a different country. simply flash the latest O2 software and the problem should be corrected.
Some apps are only for certain countries..
Try to VPN it, if it doesnt work.. make a new account for that region just to download apps...
which version should be? I have now:
what do you mean by new account for that region?
So
did you previously use it outside the region that you reside in now....just make a new playstore confirm your bank acc make a small purchase and just refund it should change location to where u reside make sure the bank is from where u currently reside in and try again if not then you are gonna have to proxy your connection by an app
no, I bought it from a local guy, hard reset and added my sim, and with UK card in google wallet. I've called google 10 min ago reporting this issue, and it's on going.
