best bang for buck!
Was first sure on getting the Huawei P20 lite, then the Nova 3i, then now this appeared!
It's amazing! My only hatred is with the EMUI itself.

Honor 8X the 6.5-inch Fullview Display
Emmmmmm I really appreciate this new feature.

love the design and value for money, hate the restrictive nature and bloatness of EMUI, overall score 7.5 out of 10, considering it is a late 2018 mid ranger.

Just received it this week following a discount on Amazon, it is great. It is absolutely mid-range (I have been playing with my friend iPhone XS max and obviously there is a big gap).
Design is beautiful (I have the blue one, looking very good) and screen is as well beautiful in size although I come from AMOLED and the difference is noticeable. But I bet I'll get used to it.
Battery is as promised, 1,5 day for my 2 first cycles with quite intensive usage (that was my 2 main criteria for this purchase - big screen and long lasting battery).
Everything else is smooth and fine, so far I do not understand very well all the criticism about the photocamera. It seems really ok to me, and I have not been playing around will all the settings available yet.
I don't like very much EMUI, but ok, it is fine as well, the delta with normal android is not that big.
One feature I will definitely miss from my good old Nexus 6 was the fast charging (80% in 30mn!) and the wireless charging (I had wireless chargers spread across home and office and that used to be very convenient, never had to plug it anymore). Here charging is a raw and slow process....
But hey, for 265€ !!! The delivery is quite amazing.
So to stay on topic, true love is there! I suspect it will not be a very long lasting true love (as it has been with my Nexus 6, after 4 years together) but let's enjoy a medium term relationship for that price tag

The Honor 8X is the kind of phone you might buy if you want one that looks new, with all the latest design cues, but don’t want to spend a huge amount of money. That the front is almost all screen is the Honor 8X’s star feature. Switch it on, in late 2018 at least, and it looks similar to an 800$ phone. According to me these three key features make this phone worth buy!
-All-screen front, glass back and metal frame
-Good 1080 x 2340 screen
-Mid-range CPU is biggest sign that this isn't a flagship

in full love with this phone

Anyone know if these will be able to work on Sprint? (If one is purchased fully unlocked from Nokia)
Won't work on Sprint. I've been waiting for this. Not thrilled about the overall design and color choice but really wish I had a camera for low light and I have the 8X. Camera is decent but not nearly as good as this Nokia. Also looking forward to bigger screen again as my primary Phone is DNA. Really looking forward to this.

I would, but...
Both the wife and I have Sprint Sero accounts ($40 a month each), for unlimited web, text, blah blah blah. The same thing on Verizon would run me I think $150 for 2 phones.
Love the phone, hate the one-carrier release. At some point, Nokia is going to blame poor US sales for their poor overall performance. And while they won't "get it," I'm going to point to their carrier-exclusivity model. People love the SGS4 and HTC One because they are available on all carriers at similar launch windows, leading many to expect good OEM support. Carrier-branded exclusives scare people away.

Nexus 7 vs Nexus 6 screen real estate

So I have been thinking about maybe replacing my Nexus 7 not with a Nexus 9 but actually a Nexus 6. But I wanted a good size comparison of the actual screen real estate, so I did some cut n pasting. I thought there would be less of a difference but 7" with 16:10 turns out to be quite a lot bigger than 6" in 16:9. So it wont be a worthy replacement, at least not for me. I'm posting it here because someone else might be in the same thoughts.

That's a pricy replacement...
The Nexus 6's display is a little over 15 square inches in area, versus the Nexus 7's 22 square inches.
If you don't need phone functionality, you should consider the nVidia Shield tablet as well, it have quite a few features the Nexus 9 lacks.
You might consider a 6.1" Ascend Mate 2. Still not as big [emoji2], but at least a lot cheaper than a Nexus 6. I have an LTE N7 and the Ascend and it holds it's own overall.

Ascend Mate 2 was already confirmed as a device Huawei will not even update to KitKat, let alone Lollipop.
True, but that didn't come out until after October 27. [emoji2]
thanks for this info. have to account though that the N6 has 2 generations improvement on specs and is more portable. i am also on the fence on this decision.
update : In the end, I just got another Nexus 7 2013. much more cost efficient
Random thoughts on the n6 vs n7. Nexus 6 has a better quality screen, is lighter and faster with 50 percent more ram. I have both and I find that there isn't much usability difference between them actually. However, if you want to watch a movie, is nice to sit the n7 down on a table with a kickstand and it's easier to view at a distance. But n6 speakers are as good or better than the n7. I still end up using both everyday. The phone gets about 4 times the use, so I put it on the charger and grab the n7 when I get home from work. The n7 has much better battery life in my usage. I have OmniROM lollipop and elementalX kennel on both. I find that I sometimes use them both at the same time, the n7 for movies or YouTube and the n6 surfing or replying to emails, etc. I used to have a 10" tablet and a 4" phone, but the n6n7 combo is still surprisingly complimentary.

At last I can say WOW!!!

I had my mind set on the HTC M9. The "leaks" from evleaks had me drooling.
Watching the live event left me disappointed, then on to Samsung.
For me that phone is utterly stunning, I can't wait to get hold of this & add Nova Prime etc.

I agree with you, it does look outstanding. I cannot understand why so many people are complaining. Samsung have been rightly criticised for their lack of design, especially on the flagship devices. They did a good job with the Note 4 and they upped the bar with the S6.
The usual iDiots complaining it somehow looks like an iPhone, which apart from a similar speaker grill - it clearly does not... There will be those that gripe about the lack of removable battery and SD card of course (and they may have a point) but WAKE UP! This is a phone made by Samsung that actually looks gorgeous and actually looks like a flagship phone.
I am more of a Note fan so I won't be buying an S6 but am very much looking forward to seeing what they come out with for Note 5 this year if it builds upon this revamp of the Galaxy range.
I think the phone looks great. One issue that will bug the crap out of me is the fingerprints on the back. I want the black one, but may have to get white to mask it.

Next issue is spending the extra money for the 128gb. I need the storage.
Just curious. What do most people use all that storage for.

First take into account the OS size, so 32 is now 30 if you're lucky. If you have a kid like me, you take a lot of pics and vids. Average 13mp photo is 5mb or so each. Now with this phone, I'd have to copy all the data on my 128gb SD off to the phone storage. Taking into consideration I had a S4, S5, N3, N4, G2, G3, iphone 6. All photos and vids from each of those I have on my SD. It adds up.

Honor has recently been putting out some great new phones. Their budget lineup currently consists of the Honor 7X and the Honor 9 Lite. The Honor 7X is one of our favorite budget phones right now, and has even become the best selling phone in the Amazon unlocked phones category. The Honor 9 Lite has just recently launched in India and is quickly gaining traction due to its super low price.
If you own either of these phones, this is your chance to win a Google Home Mini. Leave a short review in the comments of this article, detailing what your thoughts are on your phone so far. Talk about the camera, performance, battery life, display quality, or anything that you feel is noteworthy.
Honor listens closely to the XDA community and takes your opinions seriously, so now is your chance to tell them what you think. We will pick one lucky reviewer to win a Google Home Mini!
Honor 7X video review
Here is my video review of the Honor 7X
I had a hard time choosing between Mi A1 and Honor 7x. Been a Fan of Stock Android I thought of getting mi a1 for better updates and development since kernel Sources were released by Xiaomi yet I chose honor 7x over mi a1.
Reasons :
Speaking of Battery:
Me Being a hard core user I get around 5-6 Sot that double Sot what I used to get on my 1+2.
Camera:
I am not huge fan of photography on Phones yet this thing has hell lot of Filter in it.
That Gyroscope Update:
It was turning point for many people for not getting this phone that lack of Gyroscope sensor but we received an update which did bring it back.
Build Quality:
Aesthetic :
Many People Say it looks a bit like an iPhone from the back but I totally disagree with it. I love it so much that even though I bought rugged case for protection I feel like to use phone without it.
Strength:
Even though it has those 2.5D Glass over the front I have seen many dropping test videos it survived like a warrior.
Development:
Initially I thought it wouldn't be any development any or such On this Device yet I see Twrp , Root , a freaking Oreo Rom out so early.
Our thing I really like about honor is that take any company phone you'll see hell lot of difference between its main flagship and Budget device yet here it's different story you do get same 18:9 ratio as flagship one same resolution ( v10) Even bigger screen than flagship one just Processor upgrade and camera there's nothing much more you missed in its budget segment.
I must say Honor 7x is surely a flagship Killer.
All I want further is more development

Part 5: Conclusion (OPPO Find X5 Product Review from the Land Down Under)

For the past couple of weeks, my SIM Card has been inserted into a new OPPO Find X5 (Black, 256GB on-board storage, 8GB RAM, and Model CPH2037), which I received from OPPO (thank you for the OPPOrtunity!), as one of their 20 global OPPO Product Ambassadors. It has become my daily driver, and replaces my previous OPPO Find X3 Pro. The following are my views and opinion only.
In real life, I enjoy Smart Phone technology, and manage all of my online presence (including my twitter (more than 181,000 tweets so far), Instagram and LinkedIn accounts), directly from my Smart Phone.
I’ve broken down my OPPO Find X5 Product Review into shorter sections, which makes it either easier to read everything, or perhaps you may just jump to the topics that are important to you:
Summary
Build Quality and Design, and Overall Performance
Camera Performance and Other Performance Features
Best ColorOS Features and Battery Review
Conclusion (you are here)
Conclusion:
The OPPO Find X5 is a premium phone and for me a worthy successor to the Find X3 Pro. It looks different to its competitors by having an organically shaped camera housing which is not the normal rectangular slab. It feels sturdy, not bulky and sits nicely balanced, cradled in your hands for hours at a time.
I have been enjoying getting accustomed to the cameras’ performance, and now night time photography and videography is “a thing” for me. The Marisilicon X NPU and the AI takes a lot of guesswork out for me, and I can now point and shoot without much hesitation, knowing full well, the majority of photos will be of high quality, and of use to me for my social media posts.
I am now becoming accustomed to allowing my Find X5’s battery run down over a normal day, knowing a full charge is a Cup of Coffee and an Almond Croissant time away (with the 80W SUPERVOOC wall charger). Peace of mind, finally.
I thoroughly enjoyed my OPPO Find X3 Pro, and used it for the longest time of any smartphone I’ve owned, but I feel the OPPO Find X5’s fit and feel, finish, smooth performance and intelligent camera system (complete with standalone Marisilicon X NPU) will be my go-to smartphone for a whole lot longer.

Thank you to the OPPO Team and to the Members of the XDA Forums, for providing me this chance to present my real life review.
Thank you for taking the time to read my Real Life Product Review of the OPPO Find X5. I welcome any questions you may have (noting I'm not an experience Tech Reviewer), and if I cannot answer them, I will seek the answer from either another OPPO Product Ambassador, or from the OPPO Team.
