Part 5: Conclusion (OPPO Find X5 Product Review from the Land Down Under) - OPPO Find X5 Pro General

For the past couple of weeks, my SIM Card has been inserted into a new OPPO Find X5 (Black, 256GB on-board storage, 8GB RAM, and Model CPH2037), which I received from OPPO (thank you for the OPPOrtunity!), as one of their 20 global OPPO Product Ambassadors. It has become my daily driver, and replaces my previous OPPO Find X3 Pro. The following are my views and opinion only.
In real life, I enjoy Smart Phone technology, and manage all of my online presence (including my twitter (more than 181,000 tweets so far), Instagram and LinkedIn accounts), directly from my Smart Phone.
I’ve broken down my OPPO Find X5 Product Review into shorter sections, which makes it either easier to read everything, or perhaps you may just jump to the topics that are important to you:
Summary
Build Quality and Design, and Overall Performance
Camera Performance and Other Performance Features
Best ColorOS Features and Battery Review
Conclusion (you are here)
Conclusion:
The OPPO Find X5 is a premium phone and for me a worthy successor to the Find X3 Pro. It looks different to its competitors by having an organically shaped camera housing which is not the normal rectangular slab. It feels sturdy, not bulky and sits nicely balanced, cradled in your hands for hours at a time.
I have been enjoying getting accustomed to the cameras’ performance, and now night time photography and videography is “a thing” for me. The Marisilicon X NPU and the AI takes a lot of guesswork out for me, and I can now point and shoot without much hesitation, knowing full well, the majority of photos will be of high quality, and of use to me for my social media posts.
I am now becoming accustomed to allowing my Find X5’s battery run down over a normal day, knowing a full charge is a Cup of Coffee and an Almond Croissant time away (with the 80W SUPERVOOC wall charger). Peace of mind, finally.
I thoroughly enjoyed my OPPO Find X3 Pro, and used it for the longest time of any smartphone I’ve owned, but I feel the OPPO Find X5’s fit and feel, finish, smooth performance and intelligent camera system (complete with standalone Marisilicon X NPU) will be my go-to smartphone for a whole lot longer.

Thank you to the OPPO Team and to the Members of the XDA Forums, for providing me this chance to present my real life review.
Thank you for taking the time to read my Real Life Product Review of the OPPO Find X5. I welcome any questions you may have (noting I'm not an experience Tech Reviewer), and if I cannot answer them, I will seek the answer from either another OPPO Product Ambassador, or from the OPPO Team.

best bang for buck!
Was first sure on getting the Huawei P20 lite, then the Nova 3i, then now this appeared!
It's amazing! My only hatred is with the EMUI itself.
Honor 8X the 6.5-inch Fullview Display
Emmmmmm I really appreciate this new feature.

love the design and value for money, hate the restrictive nature and bloatness of EMUI, overall score 7.5 out of 10, considering it is a late 2018 mid ranger.
Just received it this week following a discount on Amazon, it is great. It is absolutely mid-range (I have been playing with my friend iPhone XS max and obviously there is a big gap).
Design is beautiful (I have the blue one, looking very good) and screen is as well beautiful in size although I come from AMOLED and the difference is noticeable. But I bet I'll get used to it.
Battery is as promised, 1,5 day for my 2 first cycles with quite intensive usage (that was my 2 main criteria for this purchase - big screen and long lasting battery).
Everything else is smooth and fine, so far I do not understand very well all the criticism about the photocamera. It seems really ok to me, and I have not been playing around will all the settings available yet.
I don't like very much EMUI, but ok, it is fine as well, the delta with normal android is not that big.
One feature I will definitely miss from my good old Nexus 6 was the fast charging (80% in 30mn!) and the wireless charging (I had wireless chargers spread across home and office and that used to be very convenient, never had to plug it anymore). Here charging is a raw and slow process....
But hey, for 265€ !!! The delivery is quite amazing.
So to stay on topic, true love is there! I suspect it will not be a very long lasting true love (as it has been with my Nexus 6, after 4 years together) but let's enjoy a medium term relationship for that price tag
The Honor 8X is the kind of phone you might buy if you want one that looks new, with all the latest design cues, but don’t want to spend a huge amount of money. That the front is almost all screen is the Honor 8X’s star feature. Switch it on, in late 2018 at least, and it looks similar to an 800$ phone. According to me these three key features make this phone worth buy!
-All-screen front, glass back and metal frame
-Good 1080 x 2340 screen
-Mid-range CPU is biggest sign that this isn't a flagship
in full love with this phone

Thank you to OPPO and to the OPPO Product Ambassador Team (a special thank you to Eleanor) for granting me a spot within the 20 strong first ever global OPPO Product Ambassador Team, as I eagerly await the arrival of my OPPO Find X5 to the Land Down Under (kid gloves please DHL!).
I am excitedly anxious in anticipation to dive deep into the new OPPO Find X5, of which I am one of the 10 of the 20 OPPO Product Ambassadors for, and what awesome company I'm keeping with real world tech, and creatively, savvy OPPO Product Ambassadors.
Having owned and used, as my daily drivers, the OPPO Reno 5G, OPPO Find X2 Pro, and currently the OPPO Find X3 Pro, I have experienced first hand and immersed myself in the evolution of the OPPO Flagship Range of Smartphones.
I do pretty much everything from directly from my smartphone; whether it's work, rest or play, and it can be sometimes be up to a week before I need to open up my laptop, and these are the parameters that I'll be applying to my immersive experience with the OPPO Find X5, as it takes up the gauntlet as my new daily driver.
I look forward to understanding and explaining the sum of its parts (such as OPPO's first ever custom imagining chip, the MariSilicon X, the colour calibration tech collaboration with Hasselblad, and the "oh my goodness" design elements), how they make the OPPO Find X5 what it is and where it sits and shines in the crowded smartphone market, while comparing it to last year's OPPO Find X3 Pro (running the same Snapdragon 888 chipset) and another company's flagship smartphone.
The Land Down Under is not the huge smartphone market that other more populous countries represent, but Aussies are people who appreciate, and embrace, mobile technology. The Australian market is currently cornered by Samsung and Apple, but I can see gaps to be exploited, and relish the OPPOrtunity () to positively engage with, and educate, Community, Tech Circles, the Enterprise and Governments around the OPPO Find X5 Series market edge.
I look forward to any queries, questions or comments from the wide ranging, discerning bunch that is the XDA Forums, and also for the Forum's members for keeping me accountable.
As an OPPO Product Ambassador, I will also be sharing on Twitter HERE
Thank you!

A Pro Grade Camera Setup:
Oppo X5 Pro features a Triple Camera setup on its back, a 50 MP Wide angle lens with f/1.7 aperture, a 50 MP Ultra-wide lens and also a 13 MP Telephoto lens. The 50 MP Wide angle lens also acts as a main shooter for taking amazing pictures.
The setup is also equipped with an impressive set of features like Hassleblad color calibration, 5-axis OIS and a dedicated NPU chip called MariSillicon X. Therefore, the hashtag (#Bringthelight) is quite apt for the device because it has certainly got what it takes to #Savethenight.
The Yin-Yang Color Schemes
There's a reason why white and black are considered the classics. When it comes to the looks, white and black won't go wrong any time. OPPO X5 Pro comes with these two impressive color schemes Ceramic Black and White. They look like Yin and Yang. The two complementary principles of Chinese philosophy. Both of these colors compliments each other and also compliments the looks and feel of the device.
Features Not One but Two Power Houses
Having a flagship processor seems like old school to me after seeing this phone. This phone has got not one but two flagship grade chipset units powering it. Oppo has recently unveiled Find X50 Pro, the next-gen smartphone range in their X-Series lineup. The model was equipped with the highest possible hardware specs right now. It has got the all-new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset with the most powerful Adreno 730 GPU working under its good. Apart from carrying the most powerful CPU and GPU combos, this smartphones also got a new and improved NPU working under their hood. Oppo is calling it as MariSillicon X. To know more about it. Introduction:
What is the Find X5 Pro? Basically it's OPPO's flagship camera smartphone that is capable of taking some amazing shots.
Design:
The OPPO Find X5 Pro in ceramic white looks and feels premium. It is not heavy at all, and the one-piece back panel does look pretty unique in the sea of mobile phones today.
I personally prefer the white over the black in this case.
Display:
The OPPO Find X5 Pro has a 1440P AMOLED panel that refreshes at 120Hz. The key takeout here is that this display is one of the sharpest in the market today (525ppi), is able to automatically change it's refresh rate to save on power, and gets bright enough outdoors (1300nits) for good visibility. It's also super punchy and is one of the best display's you can get today.
Cameras:
This is the most important part of the OPPO Find X5 Pro.
50MP main camera - images taken from the main camera comes with a slightly colder tone, to which I personally prefer. Pictures taken during day and night come with excellent detail, as will be shared below.
50MP ultrawide - this is one of the best ultrawides in the market in my opinion. U/wide shots come with a ton of detail at 50MP, and the best part is you don't really see any image distortion.
Hasselblad colors - OPPO is promising more true-to-life pictures with the Hasselblad tuned images. I find that quite true as you can see from my sample shots.
Processing Power:
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is Qualcomm's most powerful/efficient processor to date. With this, you can expect performance to be top-of-the-line with no lags/delays/stutters in any instance.
Gaming works great too with minimal heating.
Battery Life:
Battery life is sufficient for a full day's use on a single charge, but the charging speeds is on another level.
The 80W charger can charge the Find X5 Pro in crazy speeds so you don't have to worry about not charging at night.
Overall:
If you're looking for one of the best camera smartphones in the market TODAY, this is definitely something you should consider!

OPPO Find X5 Pro Unboxing (OPPO Ambassador)

The phone comes with a Super VOOC 80W charger that in my tests will charge the Find X5 Pro to 100% in around 37 minutes from empty. We also get a TPU case in grey, sim tray eject tool, premium services card, and type-A to type-c USB cable.
The finish of the Find X5 Pro is superb, the ceramic back especially the form of the camera module looks fantastic to me one of the best camera modules of recent Android flagships.
The QHD+ LTPO2 screen is super bright over 1000 nits measured, it holds up well in direct sunlight and is very legible.
A quick test of a very demanding console & PC port Genshin Impact shows the SD8Gen1 performs well, but a dip in performance was quite noticeable after gaming for extended periods. The surface thermals remained under 43 degrees as the phone was throttled to keep the temperatures in check.
ColorOS 12.1 runs is fluid with no noticeable animation lags unlike some other Android 12 phones tested like the S22 Ultra (Exynos) or Xiaomi 12 Pro.
Initial first impressions:
Pros:
Very good build and finish with a sleek looking camera module
Great low light camera performance thanks to the Marisilicion NPU and colour profile from Hasselblad
Stunning QHD+ screen and accurate fingerprint reader
Fast stable UI with no noticeable animation lag
One of the best ultrawide cameras tested
Cons:
Video audio is quite poor, OPPO needs to address this. Low bitrate of 96kbps
It's expensive at around 1300 euros here in Spain
Shutter lag in some scenarios means moving objects will be blurred
