Swift Installer - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Themes, Apps, and Mods

I have a 2-part question that I am hoping someone might know the answer to, or a resource to get:
1. When did unattended install/uninstall cease to be a functionality of the tool?
2. Can it be restored?
Having to hit "Install" and "Done" for each and every overlay is EXTREMELY tedious.

Did you gave root before? I was under the impression that would not work without being rooted.

No, I just know there was a time when using my Note 8 and S8+ before that, that it would do unattended installs.
This doesn't require root. Case in point would be the app called App Backup and Restore. It produces an item in Settings called Apex that, when enabled, allows the program to run tasks unattended.

It's always required you to acknowledge as far as I know. That is if you are unrooted.
I've been using it since it was announced and always had to acknowledge.
It cannot be restored natively to the app.
I mean once you do your initial run through it's a few apps a day to confirm. You could try hitting up their telegram and speaking directly to the devs

Is it possible to save the theme that i have made for an other installation ?

Yes.

I love swift installer, the initial set up is tedious but worth it. After that you just have to do a few if you change your theme. Also for those who are curious it does work with good lock notification shade settings. I have made an inquiry to the devs about supporting more than on accent color.

Have you noticed any battery draining?
When I had it back in my S9+ I uninstalled it because of this reason.

I have been using off and on since I got this phone. There is no noticable difference in battery usage. This app is updated every few days and has constantly addressed bugs and other issues. So if the app cause battery drain when I came out in may, I can assure you that has been fixed. Also if you have any other theming apps active at the same time as this one. That could also be the culprit. I say you just re download it again and see what your experience is like.

Thanks guys for your answers.
Tried it for one more time today. I disconnected the phone from the charger and with 100% battery installed the app and the overlays.
Now my battery again has draining. With the same usage that I had always around 3h SOT until 50% today only achieved 1.5h!!
Of course I didn't installed any other app.
I'll give it a couple days and I'll report back.

Interesting, I would report your experience through the Google play page. There is an area where you can provide feedback directly to the developer. Do you by chance have any other applications that are used to theme the phone, or have any themes active from the Samsung's themes including fonts?
I am at 2:15 sot and have 70% battery. It sounds like swift installer isn't getting a long with another app. Also did any overlays fail? Might I suggest leaving the app installed and removing all overlays untill the app updates again. Once the app is updated reinstall the overlays, if you update an app past swift installer. That can cause issues and may also be the reason for battery drain. I don't update any apps on my phone until swift updates, that includes the Galaxy app store as well.

[MOD/HOW-TO] Google Calendar with text in month view

Hi guys,
I modded the Stock Google Calendar (v20130821) so that you can see the appointments with text instead of small bars.
Flash the attachment in your recovery and enjoy!
This works on odexed and deodexed stock ROMs, but although I tested it on my own N5, you may want to backup your system first for your convenience.
UPDATE: I don't own the N5 anymore, so I won't maintain this further.
Here is a How-To to mod the calendar yourself: click me.
If I didn't buy digi calendar, I would be all over this. You are a true scholar sir! This will make a lot of people happy.

Maybe you can try to re-flash, wipe cache and Dalvik and/or delete app-data from the global settings menu.
The mod itself can't produce any FC's - I haven't changed anything in the program code but only some integers in .xml's and one smali file for the graphics.

I'm sorry to say that I can't help, I have no N5 anymore to test the calendar with ART.
But as the signatures of the mod are the same as the original calendar, there shouldn't be an app specific problem.
How do u install this. Do I have to be rooted?
why did you return N5? are you getting another one? This was an excellent calendar MOD
@wyrman: read the OP, thanks
@THE_KINGDOM: I returned the N5, because I wasn't satisfied at all. There were too many glitches which I don't want on my daily driver. Speaker quality, bad viewing angle on my LCD, notification LED did what it wanted but didn't notify me, phone wasn't always ringing, and so on...
Build quality was great, camera was good too, but for me there were too much odds at all.

I just disabled the LG keyboard and my phone is ultra smooth now

Like the title says, I changed over to swiftkey keyboard lastnight and after rebooting to get the old keyboard to stop running my phone is now EXTREEEEEEEMLY responsive and the animations are now REAAAAALY smooth!!
It's been 24 hours now and it's still blowing my mind.
Just thought i would share this here incase anyone else wants to give it a go.
EDIT: just to increase the success rate, I decided to post a few simple steps.
1. Download new keyboard of choice.
2. Go into G3 options and set the new keyboard to default.
3. Reboot (important).
4. Hopfully by now you're enjoying some butter smoothness.
I looked through the thread and out of everyone that reported if this helped or not, is about 50% say this helps and 50% say no difference.
The worst that can happen from trying this is wasting 30 seconds from your life.
Here's a quick video i made showing the difference in stutter & response time of my notification bar, it helps in all areas of the phone, not just the notification bar but i just wanted to show an example.
You can easily see the increased response times in my video. But It's really hard to see the stutter difference in the video since it was only recorded with a 30 fps camera, though in real life it's improved a ton too.
For my testing conditions, I have 100% same apps & i shutdown and coldbooted and let the phone sit exactly 10 mins to let the os settle before testing for each test.

Hmm, unlike many of the so called tweaks out there this does seem to help. LG stock items do seem rather memory and CPU hungry.

It's funny you said that, because i thought exactly the same thing haha.
I've done near everything in the book to make my phone faster & more efficent including debloat of more than 130 apps and only having 3 running processes in the end seemed to have little to no effect, and then this happened.
My goal was to save battery life, but enstead i realized i had just REMOVED my stutter which is even better  if i coulda hoped for ANYTHING for this phone this was it!!
What about battery life after disabling stock keyboard? I mean if its affect so much at performance of the phone its probably affect on battery too...

I'm currently testing that out right now as we speak under extremely controled conditions, I'll post back the results when i'm done.
Well I don't know if it is just placebo or what but to me apps like gallery are opening smoother and it does seem to be a fair bit better so thanks op.
i dont know if i see any difference.
Uninstalling Lg Stock launcher makes it even more smoother!
I used titanium to uninstall it....

First thing I did was download Google keyboard. I personally hate the LG keyboard. For a phone so big, the keys on the keyboard are surprisingly small. I get that you get more keys, but I can't get used to it and the predictive text is almost comical.
it is indeed a bit faster. I have ART enabled, so everything was already running pretty smooth.
Next test: disable ART and install xposed with some app settings, G3 tweaksbox and 'nomoreoverlay'....
Now how does it compare to a Nexus 5 in smoothness?

I don't think that's a fair comparison. Let's wait for the unlocked bootloader. And a good AOSP rom. Then we can compare those devices...
It mainly the LG apps that are making this phone slow. The LG gallery is killing me, its so slow. I can't even replace it became the camera needs it.
I don't exactly understand what is "unlocking the bootloader", I thought rooting the device made everything possible on the device, but it's probably not the place to ask for the difference between the two.
However I may ask why is it taking so long? The phone has been out for months now.
Did it take so much time for the LG G2?
As I remember I have been adding new ROMs to my Nexus 5 a few months after purchasing it and i bought it on very early January which was two months after it was out.

Allows you to flash ROMS. Bootloader unlock policy depends on the manufacturer. LG is infamous for not facilitating this.

Is battery life better with Chrome Beta?
I tried to side load the ota and it errors at package.zip. copied it over to twrp and when I try to flash it it says it's meant for a flounder while I have a volantis device. I unlocked the boot loader, used CFroot, and flashed twrp after using the factory images for the previous release.
IMO this the same as Q build but for folks like me and many others who could not install becase old recovey. I dont see many changes yet - browsing still drains like 1% every two minutes making this tablet piece of useless electronics.

I'm going to assume you haven't investigated what is causing your wakelocks. because that is abnormal drain time for any device. you are on lollipop, running old KitKat and donut software most likely . there are a number of free LP compatible wake lock analyzing options out there. solve your problems (in turn, help others with same issue), or consider going back to a pager.

Yeah I'm aware of such software and using it on my 1+1. However I wanted to at least try to use my Nexus 9 as "normal user" would do for the first time. Browsing still drains ridiculous amount of battery however I confirm that it is now much better on R build. And heating is much less.

I got tired of waiting for Google to issue a working OTA for those of us stuck on LRX21L so I flashed the LRX21R factory image. I'm very happy with it and am glad I took plunge. Noticeable improvements on smoothness. Device still gets hots at times but its improved IMO.
FYI.. I tried following googles instruction for flashing the image. It didn't work.. It crapped out on the SYSTEM.IMG.
Manually flashing each of the IMG files went fine though and all is now working great.
Lastly,
I'd like to point out the the device restore feature worked much better than I had hoped. It even managed to keep app data settings on a couple of apps (that don't have sign in accounts).

Anyone else hate the Google Phone app call screen/dialer in BRIGHT white/blue?

I have switched to Nova launcher and changed everything I can to dark theme without resorting to Substratum.
The ONE thing that still annoys me is the incredibly bright Phone APP and Dialer screens. Especially when a call comes in/answered it's full screen light blue!
Anyone have a fully working solution?? Root or non-root, OTHER than Substratum?

The LCD screen lights stay on regardless of theme color. AMOLED has individual pixels which a dark theme has potential to save battery.
I'm not looking to save battery, just eliminate the glare from hideous screens (Call/Dialer/etc.)

I'm not sure if that's specific to Essential... But I've fixed it by making sure a sync just happened... And then wiping data on Contact Storage... And Contacts... Then forcing another sync...

Pretty lame that it's so hard to answer the phone. I mean...IT'S A PHONE!
Also, you can only use the fingerprint scanner if you activate number or pattern security...why not just for other purposes, like answering the phone?

You can with root I think...
On Oreo there a fingerprint api that allows for reading directional swipes and stuff
That's cool. Have to look into it. Waiting for OREO SECOND release. I cannot Beta test on my primary phone!

I too use this as my primary phone...
And truth be told... It's not really a test... It's more a preview...
There are no bug I have found in my day to day use... And on the B2 release... Battery is tame to say the least...
I'm averaging 4.5% per hour... Combined use... On AccuBattery... And it keeps going down...

Like or dislike Android Pie

How's people liking Android Pie?
I installed on my stock OG Pixel XL and I think it actually runs faster, or seems to. I turned off the swipe gesture for the home key at first to get used to the rest if the changes. I just turned it back on and I am getting used to that now. All in all I am happy.

OG PIXEL XL, here and one day in, I'm digging it. Hoping for root, Substratum, Dolby Atmos & Gravity Box
Root is already working, just flash magisk 16.7 beta.
I'm rooted and using elemental kernel, so far so good.
The OS itself feels a lot different than N or O, especially when using the pixel launcher.

Roots already available.
Substratum will never happen as they changed overlays. Say good bye to it.
The others I never used.
I personally love android 9. The new gestures are cool. Its speedy, battery life is real good.

You're right, about root. I guess I was thinking outside the Pixel realm. It's my backup phone. I could probably live without all the others, but Dolby Atmos. The rest are aesthetics, but I love me some car audio jamming.
I don't, his however love the Pixel and my Moto Z2 Play, probably won't get Pie.

I'm so hooked on Nova, IDK if I could even try Pixel Launcher.
Built AOSP last night is so much faster than the official build Pie is definitely going to be a nice experience
I have a weird issue where the battery icon stays lit up when charging while off. It them doesn't turn off when the phone is unplugged?

Overall, it is fine. Pretty snappy especially considering I updated with the -w removed instead of doing a complete install. I haven't messed much with the new look and feel features since stock O was just fine to me. One bug is that when I click on/dismiss a notification the icon stays there sometimes until I swipe down on the curtain again. The new volume quick access that includes buzz and mute is nice though I don't like that just turning down volume from the main screen now controls media instead of ringer. The only thing I don't care for is the new window animation (app window bouncing open for lack of a better explanation). Seems like a waste of resources with no functional benefit. 2 apps that caused messages that they were designed for an older version of Android, but both worked fine and the message no longer pops up after hitting the OK button the first time you see it. All in all, P was a well though out and largely bug-free update. Clearly, it was extremely stable and ready for a general release that was earlier than any of us where expecting. I haven't seen anyone talking about reverting to O. That is always a good sign.

Substratum works on Pie, you just have to have root.

Does your AOSP build pickup your sim card?

I stand corrected. I tried it on 8/6 using the regular Substratum app. Updated to Magisk 16.7 beta (not sure if that's important), downloaded Substratum beta v999, and it works. Thanks for proving me wrong y'all! My scorched retinas are forever in your debt.

I have a test build with it but I have not had time to flash it yet. I'll get to it tonight
It's pretty snappy. I'm digging all the little nuances, like the volume popup and the in call bubble that shows on top of other apps.
While using the phone, the clock in the upper left, catches my eye and I think it's a notification.
The nav pill is ok. I have a little trouble switching to previous app.
I signed up for the DIGITAL WELL BEING app. I don't know if it will be very useful, to me, but time will tell.
I do appreciate being able to darken the quick settings tray, but don't understand why notifications are left with white backgrounds.
I don't like having to pull down, twice, to get to settings.
ETA, I found another thing I like, the select text, expanding window and the copy / paste experience.
