What's your max uptime? - Google Pixel 2 XL Guides, News, & Discussion

So I think I found a way to actually feel some slow down on my phone. Have an uptime of 4 weeks straight, no restarts, no drained battery. [emoji23] After a quick 20 second restart, it's back to normal. I think I usually get the monthly updates around that length of time anyway. So it's hard to go past 30ish days unless you skip one for a while.

Heh I never make it passed the latest Flash Kernel update.

I restart at least once, if not twice a day
Mostly because of changing substratum themes and a little bit because of OCD lol

I've gotten like 2 or 3 months before on 6p running pure Nexus... I think.

Once every few days because of Adaway or Kernel Updates. With my 6p before you had to restart once every 60 Seconds because this piece of junk was unusable otherwise performance wise.

After every monthly update, otherwise my phone is on 24/7. I think I've only run out of battery life once since getting it that caused a reboot.

Is there a way to check it on Android P? I can't find the option ?

Yeah it appears to be they removed it from the settings. I'm sure there's probably an app but I'm not going to install one just for that. LOL.

Pixel 2 XL, Android Oreo, uptime: 5800+ hours.
System works ok, only camera begin to show some problems (some pictures are blank - not saved - or there is some memory leak / instable or my internal storage is corrupted). But overall, after all that hours i'm very impressed with how well system works.

Eh, i would like to see when system will go down, because of memory leakes or similar. It's really stable, only camera is now pure gamble - i never know if picture will be ok or not (see attachment). I will try to achieve 6K hours (another week and a half), then i will reboot & update the system Only because of camera is now really unreliable, other is fine.

No, they are lost, because camera app has a problem. Im gonna unistall/install so maybe this will fix it
Edit: doesn't help. But turning HDR+ off helps. Seems postprocessing not working as it should. Ehhh.

I give up, i need a working camera.

Good lock battery drain

Has anyone noticed increased battery drain since activatinh good lock? Ive been using it today and it seems like my battery is draining faster. Thanks
No.
Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
Yes.. a bit battery drainer and makes my device a bit warmer mostbof the time
Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
There is slight drain, but it's nothing really noticeable.. at least not on the latest version of good lock. I had about 2hr 35min SoT at 54% today with good lock running the entire time.. To put it into perspective, I had about 3 hours of SoT with the normal system UI with 49% left.
Either way, the battery trade off is well worth having a vanilla android UI but with all of Samsung's lovely customisations.
Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
To be honest, I have not noticed a battery drain at all.
Even if there is, it should be very minuscule that you would hardly notice
Yes, due to always request location on each wake...
yea its a bit of a drain....i mean..i like it so much it doesn't bother me lol as much as if it was just a ****ty touchwiz alternative lol.... but maybe as it progresses it will get better on battery...the last update from the 5th shows some improvement ...so over time we should it better with more stabiltiy.

Yes. I can't find it now but somewhere Samsung wrote that they fixed the location requirement. I haven't verified that, however. I had another issue that forced me to uninstall it.

The latest version of Good Lock does not constantly prompt location, which is why I installed it and ran it for a bit. The first version did, and that's why I uninstalled it. But since I've decided to root and use Xposed modules, I'm back at the normal system UI.
What issue caused you to uninstall it? I'm rather curious.
any possible way to show icon labels for wifi bluetooth, location ect... in the pull down menue
Seems to consistently take about 4% off my battery. Haven't decided if that's enough to really care. Really like the lock screen.
It took over 15% of my battery (no location enabled, just "everywhere"). It was next under the screen in battery stats. Needless to say I uninstalled it because of that only. Otherwise I kind of liked it except for the multitasking.

I've seen a little bit of battery drain but I get an entire day out of my phone so I'm not worried about it. Never as much as you say though. Maybe uninstall and reinstall it. I love the new UI. Also HUGE update came out today
I think that the battery usage is dependent on the number of routines that you run. I personally just set up the default routine to my liking and don't have any others set up and Goodlock typically stays under 5% usage.
My wifi keeps switching off

Having some issues

I'm having some concerns. I got the essential phone a few days ago. The first one had a 6 hour screen time, but over 2 days it would not activate on Sprint so Sprint and I agreed to exchange it. The replacement got hot and now I got the 3rd one. This one is really odd now. When it boots up it doesn't automatically download anything. I have to physically unlock it so it can get my emails and all. Then yesterday it had the shortest battery life and demanded downloading apps over WiFi. I let it download all night and it still didn't download everything... and I found the battery really used up badly without even touching the phone. It also won't download software updates claiming it's the latest. Security update is September 5th.
Also... Anyone else notice it states encrypted without actually activating encryption?

I've not had any battery issues, but I just got the phone again yesterday, had to return one because it had a bad microphone. I have noticed, however, that I tend to get notifications when I pick up the phone. Now, like I said, I just got it yesterday, so my experience pool is shallow, but I can't think of a time that notifications were waiting for me when I picked it up rather than showing up when I picked it up - like the movement is kicking something into functioning again.
As for encryption, I think all Android devices are encrypted out of the box now, and have been since Marshmallow? They tried with Lollipop, if I recall, but performance was hurt too much. I think it's a requirement to ship a device with Google's app infrastructure now.
Can anyone confirm that it shows encrypted on thiers too?

I suspect that it's like Nexel and Pixel phones. If so, have to wait for SuperSU and/or factory images, so one can extract the kernel and modify it.

As stated already, all Android devices are encrypted out of the box since marshmallow. So every device running marshmallow and up will say encrypted because it is encrypted be default. There is no way to disable it without a modified boot image.

Done. Also reset settings, network settings, access. settings. No luck yet. Still random reboots every couple minutes. S10+ is the worst Samsung phone ever at launch. S9 wasn't perfect at launch, with some battery issues; but S10 is both unstable and has battery issues.
H/W is great, but no doubt this phone wasn't ready for launch.
early adopters get ****ed the hardest, that's not news.
hell knowing my luck motorola will make the razr v4 foldable a flagship model too, now that for once i finally came over to the darkside to find out just how bad samsung is, just to spite me, i was so dead set on it when i found out clamshells were finally coming back, i had the original a1200 and loved the hell out of it back in the day, had it rooted, custom firmware, was impossible to dial 911 or view ads on it, that's the way android should be still, but i digress, i only ever buy flagship phones, i wanna be able to coast for the next 5 years on my overpayment for electronic devices, plus stop making phones thinner, they're uncomfortable to hold at this point already in landscape.
of course if that does happen i'm totally coming up with the money and who knows, either i'll have two lines or i'll sell one and not tell the carrier, god the concept renders were sexy too, plus i won't lie, i love the snap sound when you hang up on someone when using a clamshell, so long as the razr v4 is flagship specs and can be opened one handed we're golden.

I flashed it via Odin, before it was released on OTA and have not experienced anything like that. I did have a reboot but programmed every 3 days for optimisation.
The only thing I noticed was the IG mode on the camera is gone now? Mines been running great so far otherwise.

New Pixel 3a android 10 image released yesterday QP1A.190711.020.C3

Hey guys,
Just noticed today on my stock Pixel 3a that i had an update notification for a full system update while i already updated to android 10 when it was released on september 5.
When you check android dev images download for the Pixel 3a you can see that a new image called QP1A.190711.020.C3 has been released.
Feels strange that google is forcing a full system image update for users that already are running retail android 10...
Anyone know why they are forcing us to do that?
Thanks.

Are you currently on 019 or 020? My 020 didn't notify me of an update. Did the flash process from their full image zip and removed -w to keep data. Magisk works, custom kernels work. No issues here on it (020.c3). Wish there was a change log to follow... https://android.googlesource.com/device/bonito shows nothing game changing needed for a full system update in commit history. (We share with the XL in source, just different makefiles)
I was on 020. My phone actually automatically updated to C3 earlier today, i couldn't stop it. Works properly until now. Probably a 0day security hotfix.
I just checked and it says the update is available for me. I manually updated to .020 when the Android 10 was released. I'm not on wifi, so it didn't automatically install it.
I am still having trouble fast charging through a USB-C to USB-C connection. Anyone else with this issue?
Just an FYI - I was able to take the OTA once I got home and on Wifi and successfully kept Magisk by following the normal update process.
You can always follow my instructions found here if you need assistance - especially with Magisk and rooting your phone.

I am using the stock usb-c to c charger on my ASUS B350 board just fine for fast charging. OEM plug works as well.
I just found out what they changed. It's a pretty massive change.
If you try to update your System Webview with the latest image you will run into an error. For some reason the new Android 10 trichrome Webview (10+ API) will not install. However, the older Chrome based Webview (5+ API) of the same version number does install on this image.
So they went back to the Chrome-based webview? It would explain why I'm crashing out of certain apps suddenly. I highly recommend you do not download this image yet.
I took this update (I read that they changed it so it's a much smaller update now). I may be imagining it, but feel like my battery life has improved.

Bluetooth is the enemy of battery.
I generally charge my phone to and from work (30 minutes each way), so that is usually enough to top it off. I'm also fine charging overnight every night. I figure I ought to use the features I need, rather than turning features off just to get more battery life. To each their own, eh? [emoji12]

I don't think it's BT draining your battery that much. I use BT a lot and don't have that bad of life. I'd suggest using a monitoring app to see what is keeping your device from sleeping. 15hr average seems like something is keeping it awake. Maybe your watch doesn't use BLE? All of my devices I sync are BLE.

Calls, texts, browsing, taking photos and 1 phone game is pretty much all i do.
Taking photos can definitely blow through some battery. One or two or a couple and you probably won't notice a difference. But if you are at some event and taking lots of pictures, it really is noticeable. Not only is the screen obviously on and the phone running all the normal background processes, but the act of taking the picture and then processing the picture is an big extra load on the phone and battery.

That is beta 2
EDIT : I guess mine failed and I didn't notice because when it booted up it was still beta 2! I re-downloaded and flashed again and all is good!
I downloaded and installed this. It updated ZTK1, beta 2, to ZTK9, beta 3. So, it is beta 3.
Yeah it's beta3. I checked the update notes and didn't see anything major or groundbreaking yet.
As usual you were so quick to capture it Hayabusa ..Thanks for posting this. .... I did not sideload this time wanted to see if the enrollment worked or not and it did i got the update like 15 mins back... That reminds me if anyone has not been able to enroll in Beta, It might be open right now.
Works great, thank you

The refresh rate is affairs
Adaptive again, throttles down to 60. To me that's worth it to save battery life here and there

Hmm cant think of why, see if using the zip file from This thread works. Also try to see if you can register for Beta - instructions here

I checked and there literally no difference switching the 2. Also I thought it was going to be complicated, the way they had resolution, power mode, and refresh rate tied together. But they have completely undid that. I'm able to change the refresh rate, without changing the power mode, in which I no longer see

Strange, may be something to do with the sim you are using, i am on TMB and i got the update this morning ( 6 am EST). Try looking or it manually like Settings>> Software Update>> Download and Install ..Did you try the other zip file, try that.
I successfully side loaded beta 3 via adb.
Thanks bosses
Mainly typing this to get it on my participated threads so I can download when I get home.
But I hope this fixes a couple of the bugs I'm having with android auto.
But I'm pretty sure it's not going to ?
Unfortunately this update has introduced a few bugs for me. Google maps will not exit navigation from the pulldown menu and I've been getting a lot of screen flickering.

I had that too. it happened when i changed to Gesture navigation. I was able to fix it with cache wipe from Recovery. try that.
